Preity is right now in NZ to watch the cricket one-day series between India and New Zealand. But in the meanwhile, she was invited by their Prime Minister John Key for an evening reception. "I have just come out of the reception. It was really a pleasure meeting the man, who is so down to earth and I hear extremely popular," says the actress. Apparently, Mr. John and Preity discussed cricket for most of the time. Preity adds that she was extremely concerned for the Sri Lankan team when they were attacked in Pakistan. "I have been in touch with the boys from my team- Kumar Sangakara and Mahela Jayawardene, and they are fine. My prayers are with those boys," she said. Further talking about the incident, she said, "It's a sad day for cricket and sports in general. I am deeply shocked at what has happened and I strongly condemn these attacks. My sympathies are with the team and I hope they emerge out of this stage." Certain New Zealand cricketers have expressed their concern over safety issues during the IPL. However, sources close to her say that, "Preity explained and convinced the NZ PM about the how safe India was and how capable the Indian forces are in providing security to the teams."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Mar 2009 | 4:32 pm Shilpa breaks the ice with Preity

Shilpa and Raj Kundra are hosting a grand party to celebrate their entry into the IPL on March 10 at the Grand Hyatt. And Preity is invited. Says Shilpa, "I really want these unsavoury rumours about our rivalry to end. On an impulse I sent a sms to Preity inviting her for the party that Raj and I are hosting." Shilpa was pleasantly surprised when Preity replied back. "She said she'd love to come. But can't because she'd be out of town. I think that just about takes care of that. I'm sure we'll have other occasions to interact. For now it's enough that she accepted my invitation." Shilpa thinks these rivalry stories are unnecessary. "We're both well brought-up girls. We were even together in the Bachchans' world tour. And we got along fine. We don't need to be seen as these warring women at all, please." About the party on the 10th Shilpa says, "It's been a while since Raj and I had friends share in our happiness. The IPL deal is a good occasion to have a get-together. We're inviting all our friends."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Mar 2009 | 10:08 am Rihanna's beau charged with two felony countsWashington (ANI): Singer Chris Brown, who allegedly attacked Rihanna and left her with horrific injuries, has been charged with two felony counts. After Chandni Chowk To China, the actor has again teamed up with US-based desi hip-hop and rap star Bohemia for a peppy song and music video for his forthcoming film 8X10 Tasveer . Apart from this Akshay had earlier teamed up with Snoop Dogg in Singh Is Kinng and has recently also tied up with Kylie Minogue in Blue . Navin Shah, CEO of Percept Picture Company, says, "The music video encapsulates the personality of the film. The intrigue and thrill elements form an integral part of the video. Bohemia is a very popular rap artist and we are very happy that he has given his music for our film." A source says, "Bohemia has lent his voice for the title song of Percept Picture Company's 8X10 Tasveer. The feel of the song is a mix of grunge underground meets hip-hop. The camera work is exceptional. But it is Akshay Kumar who is the eye candy in the video from minute one. It's an addictive track." 8X10 Tasveer has been directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and slated for April 3, 2009 release. But Madhavan who became a Tamil superstar before he migrated to Bollywood is actually from Bihar. So when he got to work with Bihari actress Neetu Chandra for the first time it was like two peas prattling in the same pod. And not just because theyâre both Biharis who've been to Bollywood via the South Indian film industry. "We also bonded over basketball. That Neetu was my first Bihari co-star meant a lot. We caught up with our roots. It's so easy to forget where we come from because we're all busy looking at where weâre going. Then you come across a co-star who takes you back to the past. That helps you regain your sanity," says Madhavan who spent his childhood, growing years and early years Bihar. "And Bihar isn't the only common factor between me and Neetu. We're both athletic and sporty. We both play basketball." All off-camera time was spent between the two Bihari stars discussing and debating the finer points of basketball. And now they've promised to play a game on the field. "We're both tall and built for basketball. And I haven't come across any co-star so far apart from Neetu who's a basket ball fan. The game provided a great comfort zone." A comfort zone was sorely needed over their film together because it involved plenty of eerie supernatural special effects. Says Madhavan, "We were shooting 13 B as a bilingual in Hindi and Tamil. And Neetu and I were the only common actors to both the versions. All the other actors in the two versions were totally different. So you could imagine how tough it was for me to deliver the same emotions in two different languages in two concurrent shots with a completely new set of actors except Neetu who was there with me in both versions." Madhavan was the only actor who had to deliver his own lines in both Hindi and Tamil versions of 13 B. Neetu's voice is dubbed in Tamil. Says Maddy, "This has been the toughest film to make. It was like doing two different films in two languages on the same set. If Neetu wasn't common to both I'd have lost my bearings."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 6 Mar 2009 | 9:07 am 'The Reader': Exceptional performances, rare filmFilm: 'The Reader'; Cast: Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, David Kross; Directed: Stephen Daldry; Rating: ****Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 6 Mar 2009 | 9:00 am Jackson eyes $400m comeback plan - BBC News

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 5 Mar 2009 | 4:19 pm Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai & Randhir Kapoor in Vipul Shah's nextVipul Shah may be currently busy wrapping up his ambitious project London Dreams, but that hasn't deterred him from announcing his next film. Vipul's next stars Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles. Though there were rumors earlier that the film is titled Action Replay, Vipul is yet to confirm the final title. While Akshay Kumar has been a favorite with Vipul Shah (Waqt-A Race Against Time, Aankhen, Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng) this is the first time that the filmmaker would be working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film also stars Randhir Kapoor who would be seen on the silver screen after a hiatus of 8 years (Armaan in 2001). Randhir apparently plays a scientist in this time-travel tale. The last time Akki and Ash worked together was in Rajkumar Santoshi's hard-hitting Khakee which did fairly well at the B.O. One will have to wait and watch if the duo can do an 'action replay' of their past success this time around.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Mar 2009 | 3:52 pm 'Slumdog Millionaire' impresses Bihar chief ministerAcademy Award winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire' charmed the audiences world-wide and the latest to be floored by the rags-to-riches story is Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 5 Mar 2009 | 3:01 pm Date disaster with a Bollywood wannabe!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Mar 2009 | 2:33 pm Man convicted of murdering Harry Potter film actor

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 5 Mar 2009 | 2:13 pm Rahman reworks on 'Jai Ho' to make it a political campaign songElections are drawing close, and the battle for votes has certainly heated up. Every year political figures keep turning to the famous filmi folk to lend support to their campaign. However, this time, the Films-Politics connection has gone to a new level altogether. With the recent sweep at the Oscars and the final rise to fame by India's Beethoven - A.R. Rahman, the song 'Jai Ho' from Slumdog Millionaire has become a global hit. And just recently, Congress has officially acquired the rights to use the song for their election campaign. The cartoonist here gives a funny take on how the political party might want to alter the song to push their leader with their campaign. Something which is a challenge for even the Oscar winner Rahman, looking at the stunted expression of his caricature. All we can say is, films always help garner publicity, even for our politicians.
