Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 7 Feb 2009 | 2:08 pm Preity, Juhi, Shilpa shine at the auction of IPL 2009After a super successful inaugural edition, IPL is back again and this time, it only promises to be even bigger and better. The auctions took place at Goa yesterday and it was indeed a star studded high profile event which brought together the best from the world of sports, business and entertainment. Shah Rukh Khan may not have been present at the auctions but his partner Juhi Chawla was very much there along with hubby Jai Mehta. SRK's team Kolkata Knight Riders' only major purchase of the day was Bangladeshi player Mashrafe Mortaza. Preity Zinta's Kings XI Punjab may have made it to the Top 4 last year but this time Zinta babe surely wants no less than the top honor. Hence she, along with partner Ness Wadia, was seen aggressively bidding for their preferred players. In the end, they bagged English all-rounder Ravi Bopara and West Indian fast bowler Jerome Taylor. The new entrant at this year's auctions was none other than Shilpa Shetty, who, along with beau Raj Kundra had recently acquired a stake in the victorious Rajasthan Royals team. Just like last year, even this year, Rajasthan Royals decided to go with lesser known players like Shaun Tait (Aus) and Tyron Henderson (SA). The biggest catch of the day was bagged by the Vijay Mallya owned Bangalore Royal Challengers, who spent a staggering 1.55 million $ to get flamboyant England player Kevin Pietersen on board. Pietersen's team-mate Andrew Flintoff also fetched the same amount when he was picked by the Chennai Super Kings. The Mukesh Ambani owned Mumbai Indians was represented by Nita Ambani and she surely seemed to have made a right decision in picking up the promising South African all rounder J.P. Duminy. The second season of the IPL kicks off on April 10th this year, and if yesterday was the beginning of things to come, one can only expect a cracker of a tournament this time too. We simply can't wait for that!!!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Feb 2009 | 2:02 pm Saif, Kareena to kiss onscreen - NDTV.com

She is Mugdha Godse, who is on her way to become the Goddess of not just small things but also big, bigger, biggest things! And one such big thing to have happened to the mankind is the current issue (which is ironically quite 'electrifying') of the super cool tech and gizmo mag 'Stuff'. We will be doing rank injustice if we started telling (read 'praising') about Mugdha's gizmo-ic looks that really acts as an eye-candy for everyone alike. For once, we are damn sure that, you will regret that why weren't you born as a laptop or any other gizmo, for the only reason, that after having a look at the gizmo's proximity to Mugdha...you know the rest! Anyways, keeping the best for the last, all that we would say is that do not let your life be incomplete without the current issue of Stuff! Bollywood Hungama got in touch with Milan Luthria to confirm the same. "Yesâ¦I am doing a film with John Abraham. This is a script which we have been working on for the past 8 months. After Taxi No. 9211 (which many people feel is John's best work till date), John and I felt that we need to come together again. As far as John co-producing the film is concerned, we are in talks, the logistics need to be worked out and we are yet to finalize the details" So what genre will the film belong to? "It's a very unique and interesting story. Revealing anything more at this point of time will spoil the fun. But let me tell you that with this film John (who is already a chick-magnet) will be catapulted to being a huge international heart-throb. It has a lot of potential and hence we are trying to keep the story under wraps", says Milan Before this film, Milan already has Once Upon A Time in Mumbai with Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. So when does he plan to start this film? "We have worked out the dates with John. Right now he is in the middle of Hook Ya Crook and then he has 1-800 Love. Even I am also busy with my film Once Upon A Time In Mumbai which goes on floors in May this year. I finish shooting for that in July and post that, somewhere in August we plan to start this film with John" Coming back to the idea of John co-producing the film, how did this all happen? "See... John has a very strong business mind. He is an MBA with good marketing and advertising experience at the corporate level. We both have a certain level of trust and comfort level with each other. When we discussed about this film, we both felt that we needed to control this project completely because apart from a great script, the film also has a lot of potential for marketing, merchandising, franchising, tie-ups, remakes in different languages etc.", says the excited filmmaker. Off-late, more and more actors such as Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, SRK have been working out profit sharing models for their respective films. So is this trend here to stay? "Yes... I truly believe that in today's time and age this kind of an agreement does make a lot of financial sense. Star-prices are always going to be big and sometimes when the budget of the film is also high, how do you adjust all together? Even in Hollywood, when they came up with the points system for profit sharing there was a very high amount of resistance to it but gradually over the years, actors and directors began to accept that this works. At the end of the day, we all need to grow beyond being just actors and directors. This is a win-win series and with the transparency shown by the corporates this is a system which is here to stay", signs off MilanSource: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Feb 2009 | 12:51 pm Subhash K. Jha speaks about Mere Khwabon Mein Jo AayeFirst things first. I would like to give credit to this unintended comedy film, only for Randeep Hooda's effort, ranging from the brave to the ludicrous, to play different avatars of a bored housewife's secret fantasies. It was Shabana Azmi who first voiced it. While working on a film on female infidelity, Ek Pal with a woman director Kalpana Lajmi, Shabana shocked me by saying every middleclass wife fantasizes about a secret lover. Perhaps Madhurita Anand heard Shabana. The debutante director whips up what could have been a mildly diverting confectionary about a dissatisfied wife who chooses a rather cute way out of boredom in marriage. Unlike Satyajit Ray 's Charulata and all her dizzying spin-offs right down to the bed-time-stories of Mallika Sherawat in Murder, the wife in Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye invents a phantom-lover, a somewhat cool urbane cynical wry and shamelessly multi-personality disordered Randeep Hooda who exists only in Maya's imagination. Maya, get it? Adultery in this way goes from the bed straight into the head. We've had actors doing a number of roles. Sanjeev Kumar played 9 characters in Naya Din Nayi Raat and Kamal Haasan played 10 in Dasavatharam. Randeep Hooda ups the ante. He slips into 18 roles (after the first few, you stop counting) with not quite the smooth suave transitions that one would expect to emerge from a multi-role bravura performance. Nonetheless, some of his avatars reveal a delicious sense of irony. The film unfortunately reveals nothing but an acute scarcity of any sense of direction. In that ebullient Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Raima Sen played a bored wife who one fine day, hitches her sari and goes hang gliding. This one fails to take off. And for no fault of Raima.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 7 Feb 2009 | 12:34 pm
