Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 28 Jan 2009 | 4:34 pm "LBC has given me a chance to showcase my actual talent" - Rishi KapoorTo watch Rishi Kapoor being interviewed is a fascinating experience. His face speaks volumes about his life and career. Ordinarily, he's hugely affable, beaming and joking, delivering a succession of super-cool one-liners, giving the people what they want. His smile, his openness and generosity reveal a man who is exactly where he wants to be, a filmstar who appreciates his status and privileges. Then sometimes, when the questions get too tawdry or silly, you'll see a flash of fire in those eyes, a sudden rage that tells of a long road hard-travelled. Because our cute Chintu ji of all Bollywood's biggest stars, has probably endured the toughest route getting there. Getting a personal invite from Excel Entertainment to meet Rishi Kapoor at their Bandra office for the promotion of Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance proved to be lucky in more ways than just one. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent met the ever so jovial and ever so energetic Rishi Kapoor and spoke in depth about luck, his happy-go-lucky role, his lucky film Bobby and how every time he has been at the right place at the right time to do the right film. We hear you play an old school type of a naughty ziddi producer in Luck By Chance. It's a take on a producer. When I was narrated this part of a producer by Zoya which was written by Javed saab, it came to me as an interesting role. In my 35 years of working in the Indian Film Industry, I've worked with several film producers. Some of them have been happy, some decent, some eccentric, some were weirdo's as far as their dressing, speaking and their way of thinking was concerned. So what I did was, I amalgamated all those characters to paint one character called Romi Rolly, which is my name in the film. So what does the weirdo Romi do? (laughs) He believes in astrology, numerology and all the "logies" you can think of, more than his ability. Romi is running on luck just like all the films are running. Romi's films work on luck and if his stars are correct. The way he functions as a producer is by bullying a new comer because he does not want to pay him as much of money. I am also a weirdo who is passionate about films and food. And what about your attire. I'm sure that was inspired by someone. You're right but he wasn't a producer. I wouldn't name anyone but he was my co-actor. In one of the publicity pictures, I'm seen wearing a kaftaan. But that scene from the film is cut off. It'll be there in the DVD. But imagine someone wearing a kaftaan. That in itself speaks volumes (laughs). My fellow colleague used to wear that while coming for work. Can you believe it? I was inspired from him. Even Juhi Chawla has taken inspiration from some producer's wife in our industry and she is playing that role. But having said that, it's a good take on each of them because they are sincere people. Juhi Chawla has taken inspiration from some producer's wife in our industry How was your interactions with a first female director you've worked with. Good research. This is my first film where I have worked with a female lead director. Zoya Akhtar is a very focused girl. A girl who is absolutely living on her film. I was told that she wanted to make Luck By Chance since the last two years. She stuck on to it and never gave up. She has been sincerely involved in making this feature and with the able support of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, she has excelled with Excel. I am very happy to work with her because she knew clearly what she wanted to extract from me and others. Though I should say, she has been painfully demanding which is why I am always fighting with her. She won't leave me till the time she is not absolutely satisfied. She does allow you to be spontaneous and gives you that space but she is very much there while you want her. What she wants, she gets. That's Zoya for you. Is LBC a serious take on the Hindi Film Industry or a laugh riot which is going to pull everyone's leg? It's an interpretation. It can be funny at times and also serious. It's about a struggler trying to make it. In any field or sphere, luck plays a vital role. To be there at the right time at the right place is essential. In films too, it is very important how and where things happen. It's happened with everybody. If Rajkumar had said 'yes' to Prakash Mehra for Zanjeer, how would have Amitabh Bachchan risen from the same film? If Danny and Premnath would have said 'yes' to Gabbar's role, how would Amjad Khan come in? So that element of luck played a very important factor. What about you? Were you lucky at the right time at the right place? I may be. May be all the time or may be none of the time. I refused Yash Chopra's Darr. The film was a turning point in SRK's career. When Yashji came to me with Darr I told him that my earlier film Khoj where I played a negative character didn't do that well. So I told him that he should not take me in Darr. Before that, I had worked in Chandni which worked very well and I wasn't going to play a second role in Darr. I wasn't happy doing that. It had to be in SRK's favour. That is 'Luck By Chance'. But Bobby proved lucky for you, isn't it? Absolutely right. If Mera Naam Joker would've been a super hit, my father would've made part two of it which was supposed to be made. But Mera Naam Joker flopped and my father was in problems. So inspired by the first love story of Mera Naam Joker, he made a teenage love story called Bobby. That was my luck. I was just twenty years of age. I was made a star by luck. Raj Kapoor didn't make Bobby to launch me as an actor, he made it for himself. He proved to the world that he didn't need a star face to make a hit. Bobby had Dimple and me who were nobodies. Wasn't I lucky then? Raj Kapoor didn't make Bobby to launch me as an actor, he made it for himself. Your part as a producer must've made you interact with all your co-stars. How was the experience? Yes, I did. But I must say this. In the whole film I don't have a single shot with Konkana Sen Sharma. I have never even met that girl who is working with my son Ranbir in his next film. There is no common platform in the film with her. My interactions were more with Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar. Tell us honestly. Is Luck By Chance your best film in the last decade or so because we haven't seen you in such a mood before. In my long career I was only singing songs and doing romance. Perhaps, from Namastey London time and now Luck By Chance, it has given me a chance to showcase my actual talent. Not that I wasn't talented. I became a hero in three rupees fifty paise, my son became a hero in two hundred rupees. People who can afford to buy two hundred rupees ticket are not of the same sensibilities as that of the auto rickshaw drivers. So one is making a film keeping in mind those sensibilities. It's 2009 and we are not making redundant films like we used to make in the 70's and 80's. The socio-economic structure has changed of India and so has our audience. So you're employed again? Of course. People like me who are fifty plus are getting employed again because such kind of subjects are being made. There are different stories coming out. Father is no longer a father. He has become a friend now. Predominantly, Hindi films are youth oriented. By the time the hero gets forty plus and fifty plus, he retires. Whereas in the West, you peak only after fifty. Here unfortunately we have to retire. By the time I have honed my acting skills, I have to retire in this industry. But no more. What do you have to say about Farhan Akhtar? Farhan is a multi-tasker. He started off as a producer and a director, then an actor and a singer. I haven't worked with him under his direction. But I have worked with him as a co-star. He is easy on the eye and doesn't try to project himself as an actor. He is a kind of guy who comes from the same thinking school as I do, like being spontaneous, being casual about acting. He puts in that extra effort in his acting to make his performance look effortless. But it's not only luck Rishi ji. What about talent? Of course that's important. SRK and Akshay Kumar had no godfather. They've come up on their talent first. There must be some kind of a projection in you too. By saying 'LUCK', I also mean that you get the right film. That film that works for you. Do you call yourself a struggler? I am always a struggler and a beginner. Today when I'm giving you this interview, I'm giving it with passion. You're interviewing me and I am learning. Everyday teaches me. What has gone has been forgotten. Now I am waiting for what's ahead of me. I am waiting for my reactions to Luck By Chance, Delhi 6 and a small film titled Chintuji. Farhan puts in that extra effort in his acting to make his performance look effortless What is Chintuji all about? The film is directed by Annu Kapoor's elder brother, Ranjit Kapoor. He is a theatre personality. The film is about me, about Rishi Kapoor. It's a film which is part illusion, part reality. The film has a great message. People from all over the different corners of India come to Mumbai city to make money. The idea is, if you make your town or city or village that is much self sufficient or capable, they'll never come to Mumbai. It's about how I was born in a place and I come to Mumbai. I was a star and retired and now want to become a politician. And how my home town calls me to contest elections from there and how I change the system there forms the story of Chintuji. You're also doing a film with your beloved wife Neetu Kapoor titled Do Duni Chaar. Brief us please. The film is about a teacher and a family of four. I play the teacher in the film. I have my own Vespa and can only dream of having a car. My daughter is shy to go to the school on my scooter, my son does what all youngsters do to make a fast buck. The mother is always in the kitchen from day to night. The film is about how a teacher should get paid sufficient money so that they do not take bribe to pass the students. If you do wrong to give wrong marks to students, you are spoiling the future of your country - your students. The ones who make the future of our country get underpaid. That's ridiculous. Any message for your fans? Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure go to your heart. That is what I tell my son Ranbir too. I thank my audiences for where I am today. I've chased girls all my life, I leave that to Ranbir now to do. Let him chase the chicks (laughs).Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 28 Jan 2009 | 2:25 pm Jake Gyllenhaal's real life role

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 28 Jan 2009 | 12:45 pm "This was the first time that we had to play as per set rules" - Mike HusseyThe soon to be released film Victory has been making waves in the industry, because of the film's ensemble cast that comprises of quite a few international cricketers who will be making their debut in Bollywood. With this in mind, Bollywood Hungama decided to catch up with the well known cricketing star Mike Hussey to find out more about his venture into the field of film. So here's an exclusive freewheeling rapid fire round with none other than the popularly titled 'Mr. Cricket' Why do you hate the title of 'Mr. Cricket' that has been given to you? (Laughs) I feel it's kind of embarrassing as there are loads of other players who enjoy and love cricket more than I do. So, giving me that title is not something I ever wanted. I love the game and play it for the love of it, and not for any titles! How did you come on onboard for this film? The director Ajitpal Mangat got in touch with my manager and it was he who first asked me if I wanted to be a part of the film. I have a minor role and frankly speaking, I had never thought of acting till date and then it suddenly happened. I had never though of acting before... What was your reaction when you heard about you being cast in the film? At first, I really didn't think about it much. But, once it began to sink in, that I was actually going to be part of a Bollywood film, I would sit around and try to listen to everything that was being said just to get a better feel for what was needed of me and what I had to do. What made you want to agree to be a part of Victory? It's pretty simple. We all actually wanted to be a part of this film because the script is just so amazing. Also I am sure that, this will be an excellent film. Besides, it combines India's two eternal loves: Bollywood and Cricket! What else would any one ask for! The script of the film is just so amazing. Did you bowl to Harman? How difficult was it? There is an over in which I am bowling to him. But for that, I am not the right person to answer. It would be better if you get in touch with Brett for this, as most of the time he is the one who was bowling to Harman. Besides, there are some parts of sledging that actually have been shot for a sequence on field and I am also a part of it. However, you will have to wait and watch the film to know about it (laughs). What was the most tiresome and hardest part of the shoot? The most tiresome part has to be the shoot in India. We used to begin at six in the evening, this was just after the IPL and we continued with the shoot right through the night as it was supposed to be a day-night match. We finally finished the shoot at about six in the morning. So, by far it has been the most tiresome and well the hardest part of the shoot. We were told that the crew shot during a real test match. What was that like? It was really nice to shoot just after the 'real' match. All the boys were there alongwith the audience. I guess that they got a lot more than what they had paid for and had ever expected. Besides that, it was great just working with the others and being there just chatting. Did you guys shoot only in Australia? No. Although we did a major part of the shoot in Australia, we also shot at other locations. The entire shoot was happening while the Symonds- Harbhajan farce took place. Did that affect the shoot of the film? No. This didn't affect the shoot in any way apart from having to postpone a few scenes, as the turnout of media was just stunning. Now thinking about it, I would say that this was a king of blessing in disguise, and the reason behind is that, after the whole farce we were seen there working together so in a way it helped soothe the tensions between the teams and also it helped the film gain a bit of publicity. (Laughs) The entire Symonds- Harbhajan farce was actually a blessing in disguise for the film. What kind of instructions was given by the director while shooting? How hard was it to follow them? This was the first time that we had to play as per rules that were set. The director was straight and clear about what he wanted from us. Thanks to this, it wasn't that hard for us to adapt to what was needed. We heard that you guys had a blast while filming, what was it exactly? Sadly I had missed this part; I was back home in West Australia when the boys went out. Ajitpal had said that Brett used to sing and play some song... which one was that? Yeah! I remember the boys saying something about this but as I said that since I was home with family, I missed out on all this. About Victory, what do you think will be the end result? The film as a whole is really excellent. I really can't say much as all that I can think of it is the fact that two great passions of India have been combined here and I am sure that the film will be a hit. Besides all this, Harman's acting skills is really good and the guys have put in so much hard work just to get things done right. So, yes I am happy with it and am waiting for its release. So how was it working in a Bollywood film? It was in a way enlightening and I must say that I immensely enjoyed the shoot as well as the entire experience of working in a Bollywood film. Now I really know what goes into the making of these films as well as all the hard work that comes attached and not just the glamour and glitz that we see on the screens. Are Australians aware about Bollywood films? Do you guys watch any films there? Have you seen any Hindi film before shooting for Victory? (Laughs) Well...yes. We do know about Bollywood films. Actually who wouldn't? However we, or rather I, don't watch much of them. I can't even remember the last (Hindi) film that I watched (laughs). Besides, I get to watch them in parts and have never actually watched a film from start to end in one sitting. If given a chance will you want to act in any other Bollywood film? (Laughs) I haven't thought of that at all after the film. But, right now, I am concentrating my entire energy on the game and may be after I am done playing (after I retire that is), I will give acting a thought. But, still I am not sure that I will get into films, as it is really hard work after all. However, I will consider it after cricket.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 28 Jan 2009 | 12:38 pm Manoj Kumar finally forgives Shah Rukh

Sammir Dattani who turned 27 on Tuesday couldn't have hoped for a better birthday gift. A call from the prolific and super-gifted Shyam Benegal's office offering him a role, the veteran director who made his youngest film ever Welcome To Sajjanpur last year, has cast Sammir as the romantic lead in his latest Abba Ka Kuan. "Working with Shyam Babu was a dream," says Sammir. "I saw Sajjanpur last year and I must confess it was my first exposure to Shyam Babu's cinema. I then went back to all his best-known films like Ankur, Nishant, Bhumika, Manthan and Zubeidaa. I was bowled over. You won't believe this. But I had wished for a Shyam Benegal film for my birthday. And I got it." Meeting the director was a dream-come true. "He told me about my role and assured me he'd flesh out my character. This is the man who has discovered and worked with the best of talent Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri... Even if Shyam Babu has offered me a walk-on part, I'd have done it. But my role is pivotal." Sammir gets to team up once again with Minissha Lamba in Abba Ka Kuan. "The last time we worked together was Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate where I had a guest appearance. We used to constantly pull each other's legs. I met her again for Shyam Babu's film. Minissha has changed so much! She has become quite a femme fatale. But I'll continue to rib her and have fun off camera. That won't change." Another attraction for Sammir in Abba Ka Kuan is to work with Boman Irani. "He's an actor I've fiercely admired for a long time. Boman becomes whatever character he plays. Yeah, I think I've lot to learn in Abba Ka Kuan." Sammir who brought in his birthday quietly with a group of friends has a marital drama Love Ka Tadka coming up for release. "It's funny. I'm far from getting married in real life. She started off with My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves which in spite of not doing well at the box office, at least helped showcase a different (read glam) side of hers. A special appearance in Shaurya followed but the role was so small that it went relatively unnoticed. However, she bounced back with Welcome To Sajjanpur where in her 'gaon ki gori' role, she went on to win hearts all over again. From a village setting, she graduated to playing a small time girl in Victory which is now finally getting ready to hit the screens this Friday. Even though the film primarily belongs to Harman Baweja and the dozens of cricketers who have consented to be a part of the project, Victory does promise to have something meaty for Amrita Rao also to showcase her acting skills. The pretty girl with a characteristic laugh gets on a free wheeling chat with Joginder Tuteja as she talks about Victory being primarily a Harman Baweja film and how he was fully prepared for the role before facing the camera. Amrita, first things first, there have been quite a few talks about real life references for Harman's character in the film. Yuvraj, Dhoni - number of names have been thrown around! Do you want to shed light on this? Also, were you too given any reference points when you read through the script? Let me say that Victory is a Vijay Shekhawat story that could speak of every cricketer who hails from a small town and goes on to be a part of the Indian cricket team. The film talks about any aspiring cricketer who rises to the top. And no, even I didn't receive any reference points before the shoot. I play the character of a medical student from a small town who is a friend of this young boy who goes on to be a cricketer. However, in the process of getting rich and famous, he starts losing his bearings. I act as his conscience when he is down in the dumps. Victory is a Vijay Shekhawat story that could speak of every cricketer who hails from a small town and goes on to be a part of the Indian cricket team So how did you go about approaching the role? It was quite interesting because I could easily identify with Vijay's character here. In real life, I have some shades of him because I have gained reasonable popularity and hence have to watch every step that I take in my life. I come from a profession which is so challenging and demanding. The whole world judges you on every move of yours and I realize that how important it is to be surrounded by good company of real friends. There are chances of fake people around you who could be responsible for you being pulled down. You sound emotional about the importance of real friends... That's right, because there are only a few who could call one. These are the real friends who matter most to you because eventually they bring with them positive influences. How eventually you are going to transfer such positive influences in your work is something that is of utmost importance. In this sense, I am playing that other side in Vijay's life who tries to bring to him those positive influences. Since I could identify Vijay's situation very well and empathize with what he was going through, it became an interesting experience. So what was that strong factor in Victory that made you sign the film? Its script and the canvas. For the first time in Bollywood history, there is this film coming which literally has 45 international sportspeople coming together. In Manmohan Shetty, we have one of the biggest producers associated with the project. And then of course there is Harman. Clearly, Victory had number of reasons for me to go for the film. You have worked in around 10 odd films while for Harman it was just his second film. Did you two have a mutual bond that allowed you to give him suggestions or point out areas of improvements due to your prior experience? I didn't actually have to come up with suggestions since Harman himself comes from an industry background. He has assisted his father and wasn't a newcomer at all when he worked in Victory or for that matter Love Story 2050. He was very much aware about the whole operation and the works. He was fully prepared when he stepped in to shoot for Victory. This is why, never once did I feel that I had to interfere or help him. You seem to be impressed with your co-star⦠I truly am because he is so very good. I will give him 100% marks for his act in the film; he is just so correct there. I didn't once find him conscious or nervous. I have worked with so many established actors but even when I was working with him; it all seemed just the same. He is very energetic and has a great sense of humor. He keeps everyone laughing on the sets but once the director begins to call the shots, he knows when to get serious and perform.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 28 Jan 2009 | 11:11 am Bharath in the new Enga Veettu Pillai! The title of the MGR classic block buster Enga Veetu Pillai (1965) is going to be used once again for a film directed by Badri with Bharath in the lead role. And now Neetu has hired the services of a Mumbai lawyer Jamshed Mistry to fight for what she thinks is her right to work with dignity. She has sent strongly-worded letters of complaint to Women's Rights and Human Rights commission and is all set to meet the Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad to apprise him of this situation and of her further, legal, actions. Neetu says she's suing the director and his wife for "Threatening to kill...mental torture, physically (sic) hitting and abusing, defamation, harming my work..." According to Neetu, while working for a Telugu film Satyamev Jayate, the lead Rajshekhar and his director-wife Jivitha tortured and threatened Neetu, physically abused her and insulted her in front of the unit, made her work for inhuman (15-20 hours) per day and forced her to shoot when she could hardly stand. Things came to a sordid head on December 22. "My left eye turned blood red because of lack of sleep, stress and strain, and I contacted the director informing her about this. Jivitha herself gave me a doctor's number in Hyderabad. We were shooting in Ramoji Rao Film City, which is 90 minutes drive from Hyderabad. I tried dragging myself to the shoot as much as I could and the call time still remained early. We shot till 2:30 at night again with that infected eye and by this time I was down with fever too. Before the pack up when I asked my director Mrs. Jivitha Rajshekhar about the next day's schedule, she said, 9:00 A.M. sharp." However, Neetu was in no condition to shoot the next morning. "Four days of round-the-clock shooting had completely exhausted me, working for 18-20 hours a day was inhuman and my body could not take it any further because of the infection in my left eye, and I was also suffering from fever. I was shivering and literally shaking. I kept on dragging myself for my shots, so as to not cause any further delay, as it was also the last day of my schedule. I reached the sets on December 23rd morning at 9:00 A.M., but the shoot started again after 2-3 hours. By 7:00 P.M. I informed the director Jivitha that I was sinking and I could not drag myself further." Neetu suggested the unit use a body double. "It has been used for almost every other actor in this film in the past but never for me because I was always there... Mr. Rajshekhar gave me a few drops of some medicine as he's a naturopath but there was no improvement in my condition. However, every time I told her this, the director Jivitha said we will finish it soon. " The situation snowballed at 12:30 A.M. "My body just gave up and I could not stand. I had two Crocins and my assistant Shravan kept me covered with a shawl. I tried my level best to stand up for couple of hours. Mr. Rajshekhar, as usual kept on joking around with other co-actors, taking his sweet time in his make-up and hair setup. I remember while I could hardly stand and still was trying my best, Mr. Raj Shekhar took 10-15 shots for one dialogue. And with every shot, he use to spend at least 5-10 minutes, instead of learning the dialogues well in advance. He was the only one who completely neglected me whereas, other co-stars of mine including Shivaji, Shiva Reddy and Sherryl Pinto and the whole unit, kept on insisting I rest. I kept on telling my director that I was sinking. After telling her repeatedly no one listened to me, I had no option but to rush to my room... I felt that I was about to faint." That's when the physical abuse started. "The moment I reached my room, instead of calling me on phone, at-least 7-10 men with Rajshekhar and his wife Jivitha barged into my room, hitting my assistants and threatening me and screaming at me. He said, 'Who do you think you are?' And Mrs. Jivitha threatened, 'We will make you stand. How dare you?' When I protested Rajshekhar threatened, 'Don't argue and you better stand before I change from a man into something else.' I was highly unwell, scared by seeing so many people pushing my assistant and threatening me and my staff and Mr. Rajshekhar screaming at the top of his voice which was uncalled for." That's when the Rajshekhar got really violent with Neetu. "As I started moving out of my bed, Raj Shekhar HIT ME FROM BEHIND. Rajshekhar said, 'You better start moving fast.' He hit me from my room till the lift on the floor, and he kept on threatening to kill me. Raj Shekhar said, 'I will kill you. You don't know me. What can you do?'When I reached the hotel portico down, I was physically hit and abused in front of the hotel staff, guard and all the others standing there. My body had completely given up. All these people were standing in the corner waiting for my car. When the car arrived, Rajshekhar again pushed and threatened me and said, 'you don't know what I can do to you.' I sat in the car and reached the set. I somehow finished the shoot and he kept on screaming and insulting me on the sets in front of the whole unit. The moment I finished, it was around 2:30 A.M., one of the assistant directors came to say that I was done. I quietly got up and left for the hotel." Neetu was petrified. "All my staff from Mumbai who came with me were so scared knowing that Rajshekhar carries a gun and that he is a local from Hyderabad and we don't know anyone there. We escaped at around 2:45 A.M. from my hotel. My flight was at 9:00 in the morning and we had to wait for 5 hours at the airport. But we felt safer and secure there. I took a 9:00 A.M. flight and reached my parents and after that I was under treatment for a week. I was in a state of shock. My mind completely stopped working and now that I feel little better I would like to file a case against both Mr. Rajshekhar and his wife Mrs. Jeevitha Rajshekhar." Ends Neetu, "I've worked with the biggest of filmmakers Priyadarshan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Dibakar Banerjee, Rahul Dholakia, Raj Kanwar and Vipul Shah. They've all treated with great dignity. This incident has scared the hell out of me. Would Mr. Rajshekhar and his wife dare to behave this way with a male actor?"Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 Jan 2009 | 12:51 pm Shah Rukh's unique way of showing his gratitude to Priyanka ChopraClick above for more movie stills Shah Rukh has been taking more than a passing interest in the music for the films he produces. And Priyanka Chopra would vouch for that. If she declares from rooftops that she is Shah Rukh Khan's biggest fan then it is for a reason. The man just floors his ladies, without trying to be charming. What he did for Priyanka Chopra in Billu Barber would certify as pure magnanimity and generosity, both as a considerate co-star and producer. Shah Rukh decided to give away a large portion of his duet in Billu Barber to Priyanka. Says the film's music composer Pritam Chakraborty, ''Shah Rukh took very close interest in each one of the songs. He isn't a musician. But he has an instinctive ear for music. It takes him just a few seconds to approve or cut down a track." With the songs meant for Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Pritam faced no problems. "Shah Rukh loved his songs with Kareena ('Marjani') and Deepika ('Love Mera Hit Hit'). They were straightforward dance songs with shared grooves between Shah Rukh and the two actress." The Priyanka song needed special treatment. And Shah Rukh made Pritam re-work and re-record the song. Divulges Pritam, "Shah Rukh's song with Priyanka 'Khudaya Khair' is not an item song. It's a love ballad that the pair playing Bollywood superstars, emote to in front of the camera. Being a love song Shah Rukh felt there wasn't enough of the female presence in the vocals. He made me re-record the song with more for the female vocalist (Dominique) to do since he wanted Priyanka to have an equal number of lines." Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta who play a rustic couple will later be seen enacting the same Shah Rukh-Priyanka ballad exactly the way the village couple had seen the stars do the song. From sharing Akshay Kumar on screen in Andaaz to sharing the same love song, the Priyanka-Lara Dutta rivalry sure has come a long way. Laughs Pritam, "It was entirely Shah Rukh's idea to give Priyanka more lines in the song. He's a very generous entertainer. If you see him on screen he never tries to steal the limelight from his heroines. Even 'Khaike Paan Banaras Wala' had a lot of Priyanka in Don although it was entirely Shah Rukh's song." When told about Shah Rukh's gesture, Priyanka stays silent for a while. She then sighs and says, "What do I say? Now do you know why he's my favourite?"Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 Jan 2009 | 12:49 pm Shilpa, Jayaprada learn Odissi for India-China filmBollywood actresses Shilpa Shetty and Jayaprada took lessons in the classical Indian dance form of Odissi for an India-China joint film venture.
