Mariah Carey: Second Chance

Even she has a successful career in selling records, Mariah Carey wants to prove everyone that she can do it so much better acting. Her leading role in semi-autobiographical "Glitter" was severely criticized by the specialists, earning only $5.3 million at global box offices.

In her new flick, "Push" which had its premiere this this past weekend at Sundance, Carey is playing a minor role this time as a welfare case worker.

The movie, based on a best-selling novel and directed by Lee Daniels who produced "Monster's Ball," reveals the story of a 16-year-old named "Precious" Jones who is twice impregnated by her father and is beaten by her mother.

Mrs. Weiss is sort of the eyes of the audience, the people who don't know anybody like this in their lives," Carey told reporters late Saturday.

"Yes it's her job ... but even someone who goes through that every day and sees these horrific things, she hears something that changes her," Carey said.

The 40 year-old singer is not all by herself, being helped by rocker Lenny Kravitz who's playing a nurse's aide who helps Precious deliver her second child. With this duo, if the movie won't be a box-office record breaker, at least the soundtracks will hit the charts.....

SAG, AFTRA renew partnership

Front Page: Unions strike deal after years of bitter battles -- By DAVE McNARY    The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists have officially renewed their bargaining partnership after several years of bitter battles.    In a message to members Sunday, both unions confirmed for the first time that they've agreed to a set of guidelines including specific prohibitions on raiding and disparagement.    Move came three months after SAG and AFTRA  hammered out a non-disparagement agreement with the AFL-CIO (Daily Variety, Oct. 21). The unions reached agreement two weeks ago to start talks Feb. 23 with the ad industry.   The SAG-AFTRA contract with commercial producers, which has been extended twice, expires March 31. The bargaining will mark a return to solidarity at the contract table for the two thesp unions, which battled each other publicly last year after negotiating separately with Hollywood's majors on the feature-primetime contract. AFTRA members inked a new contract with the studios in July, while SAG has been mired in a months-long impasse.  The SAG-AFTRA agreement last fall to resume joint bargaining on the ad pact included signing of a non-disparagement agreement supervised by the AFL-CIO that includes the deposit of $2 million by each union to be paid out in fines for violations. "We look forward to working together to protect and advance the interests, careers, and lives of all SAG and AFTRA members who work under the commercials contracts," the unions said.

David and Victoria Beckham joined together for underwear for Armani

David and Victoria Beckham have both been pictured in their underwear for Armani seperately, but have now posed together for the designer.

In a black-and-white picture put on a huge billboard in Milan in time for the men’s fashion show this week, the couple model Emporio Armani’s latest underwear collection.

David, who has recently signed on loan for AC Milan, poses on white briefs while lying on his stomach on a bed.

His wife meanwhile is wearing a bra with white polka dots as she lies on the edge of the bed.

The picture is similar to a photo of the former Posh Spice in her underwear that was unveiled last week.

She posed for the sultry black and white shots as she is the new face of Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear range.

It is thought the latest smouldering image is part of a lucrative deal worth an estimated £32 million in total.

The couple are promoting underwear from the spring/summer collection.

David, 33, first signed a £20 million deal to become the global ambassador for the fashion house in 2007, and his wife, 34, followed with her own £12 million deal late last year.

Explaining his reasons for signing the former Spice Girl last week, Italian designer Giorgio Armani said: “I chose Victoria Beckham to launch our new global Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear campaign because she is a stylish and intriguing woman. Great underwear is alluring and provocative, and so I wanted to work with someone who would make a real impression. I’m sure Victoria’s presence will generate great excitement.”

OH THIGH goodness!

LINDSAY LOHAN reaches for the stars in a heart-stopping New York photo shoot.

The Mean Girls actress shows off her slender frame and flowing locks in classy shots for Interview magazine.

There’s also plenty of toned thigh on display for good measure, courtesy of a flesh-baring mini dress.

Though the pics break new ground for Lindsay, the star admitted her chequered past is still hampering her bid for credibility in the world of showbiz.

She told the mag: “The worst part is, in terms of what people see of me, I have become this girl who just loves to be photographed, doesn’t know how to focus, doesn’t know how to work on set, just loves the attention, knows how to go out at night, knows how to party.

“And you know what? I was 20 years old. I never went to college. And I lived maybe six months out of my life like that, doing something wrong, and then I stopped.

“God forbid I should have ever learned my lesson.”

Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed...
