Live Chat: Amrita Rao on Jan 22 at 1530 hrs IST

She is what innocence and purity is all about. Her mere smile is enough for the entire city to get illuminated in a jiffy, for she is none other than the petite Amrita Rao, who, after having made an unforgettable debut in the forgettable flick Ab Ke Baras, has already carved a niche for herself (and that too without any proverbial Godfather) in an industry where only Godfathers' prodigies reign supreme. Prior to her entry in Bollywood, Amrita -'The Model' gave everyone reasons galore to buy a million products. Post her entry in Bollywood, Amrita -'The Actress' is busy giving reasons to everyone to flock into the theatres again and again. The good news is that she will again be all over your hearts with her forthcoming film Victory, where she is paired opposite the current hearth throb Harman Baweja. The best news is that Bollywood Hungama has managed to rope in Amrita for an exclusive heart-to-heart chat with you on Thursday, Jan 22 at 1530 hrs IST.

"I wasn't invited to the Golden Globes" - Loveleen Tandon

Shocking as it may sound, Loveleen Tandon, the co-director for Slumdog Millionaire was not invited to be part of the triumphant Slumdog team at the Golden Globe ceremonies. "No, I wasn't invited," the softspoken co-director confesses reluctantly. "But please don't create a controversy over it. I'm very happy for the way the film is moving forward. And I've been with the project to many festivals. I can never feel isolated from it." She pauses for thought. And then asserts, "I've been part of the film throughout. I've been addressing students at universities. But now when the dubbing was in progress I felt I should be in Mumbai." But there're lots of raised eyebrows as to why the film's co-director should be missing from such an important step-forward in the project's destiny. "That only the producers can answer. The director Danny Boyle has no hand in who is called. And if I may say so, I'm not new to this kind of international events," says Loveleen who has also served as a casting director for Mira Nair and Steven Spielberg's films. Recalls Loveleen, "In Spielberg's The Terminal, they needed an Indian actor for a role. The character's name was Gupta. We were first looking at someone in the age group of 45-plus. I thought of Tinu Anand and Anupam Kher. Then they made him into an 86-year old, and that became really difficult. Where does one find an English-speaking 86-year old Indian actor? In our country we don't have that many actors active at that age." Loveleen's woes didn't end there. "It was a pivotal role. That of Tom Hanks' soul mate. We finally got an actor named Kumal Pallana who lived in California and had done some acting. When I contacted him I warned him his character had lengthy dialogues. He said he could do it. But when he started shooting we realized he couldn't remember his lines. In comparison, dealing with the children in Slumdog Millionaire was child's play." Says Loveleen, "I've had the time of my life shooting for Slumdog. No one can take that away from me."

Sangeeth Sivan all set to have a hat-trick of releases in 2009

If all goes well, director Sangeeth Sivan (who has given us entertainers like Apna Sapna Money Money and Kya Kool Hai Hum) will have 3 of his films releasing in 2009. In fact, two of these films - Ek-The Power of One and Click are ready and should release anytime soon. The makers of Ek-The Power of One recently even had a special screening of the film for actor Nana Patekar who was happy with the end product. Bollywood Hungama got in touch with Sangeeth to find out some more on his films. "My film Ek- The Power Of One starring Nana Patekar, Bobby Deol and Shriya Saran has been ready for a while now. The shooting was completed in 65 days flat but there were some issues that the producers had with some of the artists. Then the team of K Sera Sera also underwent some changes but I guess all that has been sorted now. As of now, we are looking at releasing the film on April 3rd. I am happy with the way the film has shaped up and must say that it is an out and out commercial action packed entertainer" And what about his horror flick Click with Shreyas Talpade in the lead? "Click has also been ready for a while. The makers are just waiting for the right time to release the film. Nowadays everyone seems to be worried about recession. The producers are also waiting to get a good deal for the satellite rights etc." So what else is the talented filmmaker working on currently? "I start shooting for my upcoming film Cheers - Celebrate Life in March. It's a Vijayta Films' Production and stars Dharmendra and Bobby Deol in lead roles. The film is basically a road trip story of a father and a son with some character driven humor." Are any other cast members finalized apart from Dharamji and Bobby? "Mostly we would have Sharmila Tagore also in the film. Besides that we are also in talks with Abhay Deol and Soha Ali Khan," signs off Sangeeth.

"I've a song coming up with Boy George" - Bappi Lahiri

Bappi Lahiri is never short of surprises. Just when his new self-rendered number 'India Se Aaya Mera Dost' in Chandni Chowk To China hit the charts, he springs another surprise. "I've an unreleased song with Boy George 'When Will You Learn From Your Tears & Suffering' coming up for release very shortly." The song was recorded for a film called Deewana Hoon Main Tera some time ago. "But the song was delayed. We're ready with it now. It's a fusion song. I do raga, Boy George does pop. We had so much fun doing the song together. Boy George was filled with masti. You'll love the track." Bappi Lahiri is surprised to know Boy George is incarcerated. "Oh! What happened? Why is he in jail? When I collaborated with him he was perfectly normal. At that time he was a brilliant singer and a good human being. I don't know about his personal life. But I can tell you this much. He was great fun to work with." Bappi then adds, "I recorded my song with him in London. But Boy George has also been to Mumbai. He recorded a song with Asha Bhosle composed by R.D Burman. It's sad to know he has come to this. It's very important to keep your creativity alive." Adds Bappi, "I've had the opportunity work with several international musicians like Boy George, Samantha Fox and Apache Indian. And recently, my song 'Jimmy Jimmy' from Disco Dancer featured in the Adam Sandler comedy Don't Mess With Zohan. My name was mentioned in the end-credits. Nowadays at home I'm also singing for other composers like A. R. Rahman and Vishal-Shekhar." About his track 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost' being turned to 'India Se Aaya Mera Dost' in Chandni Chowk To China Bappida laughs, "By changing Bambai to India we gave a global feel to my old song from the film Aap Ki Khatir."
