The film entitled Yeh Hausla has her playing a Dalit woman. Now leaving for Singapore to do the new Priyadarshan comedy is a bit of a stretch for Sameera. "Where I shot with Nagesh was a different world completely without trappings of urban life. I felt I had gone back to basics," sighs Sameera. "I was in a ghagra-choli walking bare feet in the mud and these peacocks would accompany me everywhere. I've never been so close to Nature before. And the thought of flying off to Bangkok for my next film gives me strange feeling of cultural dislocation." The Kukunoor film came Sameera's way almost by default. It's a role Smita Patil would've played for sure if she were alive. Kukunoor has been hearing Bengali auteur director Buddhadeb Dasgupta's comparing Sameera to Smita after working with her in two films. That's how Sameera landed in Smita's chappals... bare feet, that is. After walking in the parched desert land for 46 days playing this spirited no-nonsense Dalit woman, Sameera's feet seem ready to take on the world. Nagesh too has forgotten the injury caused by his last release Bombay to Bangkok. When the release of Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein featuring John Abraham got delayed the director didn't waste time. Off he went to Jodhpur for a start-to-finish one-stretch shooting of a film entitled Yeh Hausla on the life of a Dalit woman , a very Smita Patil kind of character for which he signed Sameera Reddy. Sameera who's just back in Mumbai after shooting the film is in a state of shock. "I never knew I could do these things. And this Smita Patil comparison is getting uncanny. It was Buddhadeb Dasgupta who first compared me with her. And now doing Yeh Hausla, I actually felt I was connecting with Smita's spirit. Maybe it was the pure un-spoilt ambience and that whole spirit of Chakra and Manthan that Smita is associated with." Sameera has returned exhausted but satiated with the experience. "I feel I've gone to acting school. Nagesh has taught me so much. I've connected with emotions within myself that I never knew existed. Other actors came and went. But I was there for the full 47-day schedule. I'm in every frame of the film." It was John Abraham who told Sameera to grab the role with both hands. "He also told me to do it at one stretch. I realized it was the only way to play this character. I didn't return to Mumbai even for a day." Looking back at the experience Sameera sighs, "I feel I'm now born as an actor. When people see me in Yeh Hausla I hope they see me and not just Smita Patil."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 31 Dec 2008 | 10:40 am Amy Winehouse 'Dating Father Christmas' - Gigwise

Directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, Luck By Chance stars Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor, Isha Sharvani and in a very special appearance Hrithik Roshan. The music has been given again by the trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy while the lyrics are by Javed Akhtar. Luck By Chance is already making a mark with audiences since the trailers have been released. This will be Farhan's second film as an actor after Rock On. Zoya, the film's director, talks about each of the songs in the album: "I am really kicked with this album. I am an avid listener of music and have an extremely varied taste. I was extremely particular about getting the right sound and the perfect mood for each of the song situations. The film is set in the film industry so we have 2 tracks that are supposed to be part of a Hindi film soundtrack. Those 2 tracks are 'Baawre' and 'Pyaar Ki Daastaan'. 'Baware' is "Rajasthan on acid". It a very upbeat folk dance track fused with a break beat. It is also called the circus song as that is what it is picturised on. The visuals are a frenetic celebration of the Hindi movie item song and I wanted the track to be very Indian but have the pace of a trance track. We have used traditional 'manganyar' singers from Rajasthan on the on the song. 'Pyaar Ki Daastaan' is a quintessential love song. It has a beautiful melody and the kick of the dhol that reminds us of tunes that are famous in love stories in the industry. 'Yeh Zindagi Bhi' has a different structure than what we are used to. It is the song that features the opening credits of the film. It has a trip hop influence. 'O Rahi Re Is Sufi'- classical in influence but instrumented with guitars. 'Sapno Se Bhare Naina' is a drum and base track with Indian classical vocals (raag bhairavi). And finally the Circus Baware Remix, the 'Baware' track remixed by the Medival Pandits. They have done a beak beat version of the track. The process for great fun we spent 15 days and came up with 6 scratches. These were the final tunes that went into the album. We never redid a single track. They were just perfect for the situations and the mood. It is a very eclectic album with something in it for everyone." With an impressive track record of producing hit soundtracks together, Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy, Javed Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the team now comes out with the music of Luck By Chance.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Dec 2008 | 4:33 pm Farhan Akhtar on the cover of Jan 2009 issue of GQNow that New Year is here, all the magazines, glossies and newspapers will surely have a gala time flashing the celebs on their covers.
