Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 26 Dec 2008 | 9:53 pm The 'Secret' behind the Ghajini physiqueAamir Khan's much awaited film Ghajini opened across cinema halls to a thunderous response yesterday. The film which has been in the news ever since it was announced took a historic opening all over and die-hard Aamir fans couldn't have asked for a better Christmas gift. Over the last few weeks, everything about the film, right from Aamir's hairstyle to his chiseled physique has been the talk of the town. Aamir's work out video has been quite a rage and ever since youngsters have been dreaming of acquiring a body like Aamir's. It's no wonder then that this artist decided to depict the sudden body-building frenzy in a humorous way. While Aamir's body in the film has tattoos of clues leading him to find his beloved's killer, the cartoon shows a beefed up person (a-la Aamir) whose body has tattoos of the steroids which he has to take to maintain his chiseled physique. While the cartoon does bring a smile on our face, we wonder what Aamir 'Perfectionist' Khan's reaction would be when he sees this picture? Artist: Hemant MorpariaSource: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Dec 2008 | 5:19 pm "I'm going to be fine tomorrow; the holiday with Kareena is on"Saif Ali Khan gave all his family and friends a scare when he was hospitalized on Christmas Eve. But today (December 26), he is well on his way to recovery. Speaking from his hospital bed at Mumbai's Lilavati hospital, Saif said, "I've almost recovered now. I'm going home tomorrow (Dec 27). It was nothing, really. I returned from Philadelphia from the shooting of Rensil D'Silva's film on 23rd night. And since I was missing all the Mumbai ka khana, I gorged indiscriminately on local junk food- Sev puri, bhelpuri, paani puri...puri ki puri fauj went into my stomach." So wasn't he frightened when his stomach started acting up on him? "Not at all. It was gastroenteritis. Yes, I've been in hospital twice in the recent past. Once it was just appendicitis. And the other time it was far more serious. After going through what I did the last time I'm hardly going to get scared by a little stomach infection." Chuckles Saif, "Actually it's much less scary than it looks. I've got a drip coming out of my hand, so that makes it look kind of serious. But it's nothing. I'm fine. Just a little sleepy. In fact, Kareena and I are going on our holiday to the mountains as planned."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 4:59 pm Akshay-Kareena starrer Kambakht Ishq slated to release in May 2009Akshay Kumar ruled the B.O. last year (2007) with several back to back hits. Among the highlights of the film is the presence of Hollywood heavyweights such as Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards. The film directed by debutante director Sabir Khan has been shot at some extravagant locations across Europe and the buzz among the industry experts and the aam janta towards the film has been quite phenomenal. Dhoni's real life success story? After his debut in Love Story 2050, Harman Baweja is all set to make a comeback with his latest Victory. The film, which is being directed by Ajitpal Mangat, is based on cricket and has some real big names from the cricketing world like Brett Lee, Simon Katich, Harbhajan Singh, Sohail Tanvir, Graeme Smith, Chaminda Vaas and Muralitharan making an appearance. Victory is about a small town boy, who like millions of others, dreams of making it big in the world of cricket and actually does go all the way. The buzz doing the rounds is that the film's story is inspired by the real life success story of India Captain M.S.Dhoni. It is well known fact that Dhoni, who is a household name today, was just another ordinary lad from Jharkhand with dreams in his eyes few years ago. Bollywood Hungama decided to probe a little more into this and when we got in touch with a reliable source from Mr. Mangat's office, he said, "I cannot comment on this right now. You will have to wait for the right time till we are ready to disclose such information." If sources are to be believed the film also has references to the real life success stories of players like Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag. We tried getting in touch with Harman too but he was unavailable for comment. One will have to wait and watch if Victory is indeed based on the life M.S. Dhoni.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 4:13 pm SRK and Abhishek Bachchan in Vivek Sharma's Kal Kissney DekhaDirector Vivek 'Banku' Sharma is very busy these days. It is said that busy people are happy people. But he isn't just happy. He is over overjoyed and overworked and is loving every bit of it to the T. The director is shuffling up and down to the Film City where he has put up a giant guitar shaped set with the two talked about debutants, Jacky Bhagnani, son of Vashu Bhagnani, and Vaishali Desai, grand daughter of the late filmmaker Manmohan Desai, who are shaking their leg to the title track of the film which has a special appearance made by none other than...wait a minute! We cannot disclose that to you because Vivek doesn't want us to. Let's respect that. But what we can reveal are two names, two big names, two of Bollywood's finest stars who are going to make an appearance in Kal Kissney Dekha. That makes it three, isn't it? One of them is a tight lipped secret. Now if we jog our memory to Vivek's debut film Bhoothnath, we know that he roped in the 'King Khan' Shah Rukh for a special appearance. Right? So no prizes for guessing that Shah Rukh is again going to make a cameo appearance in Vivek's Kal Kissney Dekha. The director says, "SRK is making a special appearance in the film and is coming at a very important time in the film's climax. He is a good friend and like a brother to me and for him to agree to be a part of Kal Kissney Dekha is like a blessing". Two over. Now guess who the third one is. Amitabh Bachchan had a full length role in Bhoothnath and if you think that he has agreed to do a cameo, you've got it wrong. This time the Big B has made way for Small B. Yes, Abhishek Bachchan is the third actor doing a brief appearance in the film. Says Vivek, "Abhishek Bachchan is a part of one of the romantic songs which is going to be shot in New Zealand in the first week of January". What's more? Vivek is also keeping a special Valentine's treat for the fans, come February 14, which will be the launch day of Kal Kissney Dekha's music. He said, "We are working on a theme right now. It reads - Say I Love You because Kal Kissney Dekha". Now that's nothing short of being creative Mr. Sharma! Looks like Vivek is already in love...we mean, in love with his film to such an extent that he is roping in all his celeb friends in what's going to be one of 2009's biggest launch film for the two new debutants.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 2:50 pm Ghai's Black & White to be screened at International Film Festival in PuneSubhash Ghai may have had a forgettable outing at the B.O. with his last directorial venture Yuvvraaj; however the Showman was in for some good news courtesy his earlier film Black & White. Black & White, which dealt with the issue of terrorism in a sensitive way, has been selected for a screening at the International Film Festival, Pune. Confirming the news, a much elated Subhashji said, "Yes, it's true, Black & White is going to be screened at the International Film Festival, Pune and that too with special mention to combat terrorism. I think for an experimental movie like Black & White, it's a true privilege and I am honored." Both Mr. Ghai and actor Anurag Sinha (who played a suicide bomber in the film) are expected to attend the screening which is scheduled to take place in January 2009 in Pune. The screening would be followed by a press conference.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 2:48 pm Ghajini to be screened with English subtitles at BIG CinemasBIG Cinemas will be screening Ghajini with subtitles at select screens in Mumbai. This facility is available at no extra cost.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 2:38 pm Kangna adopts 'maun', discovers her soulDownload image as wallpaper All of 21, Kangna Ranaut has seen and suffered a lot (in her own words) during last few years in showbiz! In an earlier conversation, she had admitted that she was going through bad times. She had said, "I got everything very soon in my life but personally my life was going through too much of trauma. I was really trapped by dirty people and they wouldn't let me concentrate on my work. They tried to harm me both physically as well as mentally." However, everything seems to be passe now ever since she moved on to 'yoga'. The biggest gift she's received from this, she says, is the practice of Silence or "Maun". The practice of staying silent physically brings to the fore the tremendous busy-ness of the mind and help to bring some quiet there as well. Effervescent and vivacious by nature, Kangna has found a 'thehrav' in her life ever since she adopted 'maun'. "Initially I found it very difficult to stay silent; however through perseverance I did manage to develop this as a regular part of my yoga practice and have benefited ever since." "When I am working, I have to give it 100%. So that's why I took a break for my personal work to sort out all my issues and only then got back to work. I did not want to struggle between work and personal issues. I am not that kind of a person. I can do only one thing at a time", she had stated earlier. "Now, through Silence, I feel I've discovered my Soul, the very centre of my being, which is the source of all my energy - creative, spiritual, emotional and mental. I've always been a very focused person, and I've chosen to portray characters in my film that are challenging and strong. This awareness and practice has given me greater ability to channel my energy effectively to deliver even better on these performances", she says in an obvious relaxed tone. Through shooting Raaz-The Mystery Continues, Kangna has been even more diligent about this practice. That's because the character is one who gets possessed and has to deal with the horrific consequences. "The role required a lot from me. It's a very intense role. So it was imperative to keep my practice alive during the outdoor schedules to be able to maintain the focus and equanimity needed to deliver the required performance." "I know where I want to go. That inner destination's where my eventual goal is", concludes Kangna.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Dec 2008 | 1:38 pm "Surya convinced me to do Ghajini" - Aamir Khan"We are very pleased that the film is finally releasing now and in fact, we are sitting in PVR cinemas where the press show has just finished and the second is about to start. Couple of days back, the entire cast and the crew were tensed whether the film would release or not but we are glad to announce that Ghajini is finally releasing across cinemas today". These were the words coming out from Aamir Khan immediately after the first press screening of Ghajini got over at the PVR cinema in Juhu on Wednesday, December 24 at around 7.30pm. Accompanying him was director A.R. Murugadoss too. Harrow Observer's columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel was present during the surprise visit of perfectionist Khan. We get you some interesting tit bits by the actor as the media quiz him on the film, his co-star Asin, his X-mas celebrations, his New Year resolutions and much more. Why was this copyright issue brought up at the last time? This copyright issue has been with us for quite some time now and the producer of the film Allu Arvind was trying to resolve the issue in the court. The information I have with me was that the hearing was over by 10th December but the order came on the 23rd December. We appealed on the same day and you won't believe how happy I am today that our film is officially releasing. The producer has deposited Rs. 5 crore in the court and there is no stay on the film. Whoever has seen the film are saying that there is a lot of violence shown in the film. The response I've just got before I came in to meet you all is that the film is being appreciated and the kind of advance bookings for Ghajini is the highest ever for a Hindi feature film because it's four times more than the previous films. I am happy that there is a lot of excitement surrounding the film. I am waiting for the response from the audience. Surya convinced me and said that I was the only one who could do justice to the character How different or difficult was it to portray a character who talks more with his eyes than his mouth? To play the character was very difficult but I don't want to say anything about my role. Please let the audiences come out and we will talk then. Normally a film title is based on the name of a hero or heroine. This one is based on a villain called Ghajini. The film is called Ghajini because it's the only clue which the hero has. That's the only name he wants to find and kill. What was your biggest inspiration while you did Ghajini? Surya, the actor who was in the original Tamil version of the film Ghajini. He has done a fantastic job. After watching the film, I was a bit hesitant whether to do the film or not. I was in two minds. Surya convinced me and said that I was the only one who could do justice to the character. He pushed me to do Ghajini. As you've now got a lot of hair cutting experience behind you and then the legal hassles to face, do you think aap baal baal bach gaye? (laughs) I am feeling very relieved and nice to know that there are no more legal hassles. What have you to say on the paintings gifted to you by Salman Khan which Asin unveiled three days back? I am truly touched by the gestures of Salman Khan. He is such a great artist and I didn't know that till I saw his work. He has made some amazing paintings on Ghajini and I thank him for that. Salman is such a great artist. He has made some amazing paintings on Ghajini and I thank him for that How did you relate those paintings with your character in the film? One of the portraits he has made matches my looks and the personality in the film. The second one is a much conceptualized version of the same. Pirated cd's and dvd's will be available from day two after the film releases. Aren't you angry? I am but what can we do about it. No one is ready to take action against this crime. How true is it that yourself and Salman are forming a team or a camp against SRK? There is no truth in that at all. I think, Salman, Shah Rukh and me are individuals in our own right. I have a relationship with SRK and Salman. Both are friends and there are no camps or anything like that. Anushka and Asin, both have made their debut. Who do you think will win an award come 2009? What awards are you talking about and to whom are you asking this question! (Laughs) Only our audiences can give awards, nobody else. How do you intend to celebrate Christmas this year? I am going to be at home with my family for Christmas. With so much goodwill surrounding you in the industry and your films going to the Oscars and the BAFTA's and people talking good about you and your films, this time around, are you ready to face criticism? I am always open for criticism. What if you get to know that Ghajini is not up to the mark? If people don't like any of my films then I treat it as a learning experience. What excited you to do Ghajini? What excited me about this film was the action, the story, the exciting screenplay and above all, the love story in the film. That really won my heart. One of the main reasons I did this film was A.R. Murugadoss. When I met him it felt like meeting a kid who has this toy in his hand. All my expectations were fulfilled after working with him. He is so clear and understands the film so well that it's really amazing. The Oscar committee saw Taare Zameen Par and has praised it. What have you got to say about it? The committee liked the film a lot and the concerned person called me to congratulate me on how good Taare Zameen Par was. That doesn't mean that we are nominated because I am sure he liked other films too. But the fact that he has taken the effort to call was touching and I am very happy about it. Aamir, I've lost a bit of my memory. Can you please tell me who was the lead actor in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi? Why do you guys do this to me yaar. You like such things, don't you? One day because of you, I'll be beaten up badly (laughs). Who according to you has got the best body in business in Bollywood? In male, it has to be John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan and in females it has to be Kareena Kapoor because she is very good looking and has a great body. What is your New Year resolution? I haven't yet thought about it. But I will be going to the theatres to watch my film Ghajini in disguise. Where and how I am going will be kept a secret (laughs).Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Dec 2008 | 11:20 am Katrina injured on the sets of De Dhana Dhan at Film CityDownload image as wallpaper In case you didn't know, Katrina Kaif is very accident prone. A month ago, Ranbir Kapoor missed his cue and slapped Katrina Kaif so hard on the sets of Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, her face ballooned and shooting had to be cancelled. Last week, Katrina got her leg rather badly injured at Film City in Mumbai while shooting for Priyadarshan's De Dhana Dhan. According to members of the cast, Katrina was doing an underwater sequence with Akshay Kumar when her foot got tangled under water. Says a source, "The more she tried to extricate herself, the more her leg got tangled. She tried to scream for help. But because of the noise on the sets including that of the stunt co-ordinators who were shouting instructions to the entire cast, no one heard Katrina's screams of pain." Finally it was up to the film's leading man Akshay Kumar to do the needful. Says the source, "Akshay saw Katrina was in trouble. He quickly swam to her and got her out of the tangle." Katrina's leg was bruised and bloodied. Panic prevailed on Priyan's sets for a while until medicos arrived and took care of Katrina's wounded leg. "It could've been worse," shudders the source, "But tetanus shots and sedatives have eased her pain." When contacted, Katrina tried to downplay the incident. "It was nothing. I hurt my leg. Nothing serious at all. There was a cut that hasn't healed as yet. So I'm in a lot of pain."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 10:53 am Priyanka-Akshay come together again to perform at a concertFor reasons best known to them Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra had stopped working together in spite of a string of successes together beginning with Suneel Darshan's Andaaz and climaxing in Abbas-Mustan's Aitraaz. Thereafter, Priyanka was persuaded for mysterious reasons to move on to other leading men. Akshay Kumar tried to form a lasting screen pair with Kareena Kapoor. But when that didn't work too well (Talaash, Bewafaa, Tashan), he turned to Katrina Kaif for professional sustenance. So deep was the cleft between the pair that Suneel Darshan had to scrap an Akshay-Priyanka starrer after a song featuring them. But now it seems the ice has thawed. Akshay and Priyanka performed together on stage on Thursday for Christmas at the Convention Centre in Hong Kong for a show called 'From Chandi Chowk To Hong Kong.' Joining the pair was Bipasha Basu who was earlier scheduled to perform in Mumbai for New Year's eve. And what a rollicking show it was! Audiences have been craving to see the hit jodi together for three years. Here was their chance finally "Yes, I performed on stage with Akshay Kumar in Hong Kong. It was great fun", says Priyanka.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 10:38 am I'm not threatened by Jiah: Asin

The first time it happened in Kuala Lumpur in March 2006 when Saif had to undergo an emergency appendectomy. All was well after that, with Saif leading a healthy and balanced professional and personal life. However, on Thursday he was back in the hospital for a suspected food poisoning. Said his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, "He is all right. He got a stomach infection due to some thing he ate that didn't suit him. He'll be discharged from hospital in 2-3 days." Incidentally, Saif and Kareena were supposed to leave for their week-long New Year vacation after Christmas. At the moment it stands postponed.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Dec 2008 | 10:33 am Subhash K. Jha speaks about GhajiniAt mid-point when we watch in stunned silence as the protagonist tries to piece together his shattered life, an abrasive aggressive cop rummages through drawers for the second part of our memory-challenged hero's belligerent blood-thirsty love story. The cop's anxiety is ours. By the time we reach interval we want to know about the trauma that changed the suave softspoken shy Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan) into a killing machine. Earlier this month, we saw Shah Rukh Khan achieve a smooth 'chuckle'-and-hyde transition in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, from a staid middleclass husband to a boorish dancing dude. Aamir Khan's makeover in Ghajini is far trickier and complex. It's not so much about the muscles. It's all in the mind. To play this character whose life changes overnight from a thirst for love to a hunger for vendetta, is an awesome responsibility to uphold for any actor. Aamir plays the traumatized amnesiac Singhania as an actor looking from the outside at a character that has detached itself from its own life. It's a performance of splendid skill and subtlety in a film that doesn't celebrate those qualities. Mercifully this ode to mayhem is not a showcase for Aamir's muscles and histrionic hijinks. He reins in his gusto to let the character's stunning switch from roses to guns acquire a life that we haven't perceived such a stereotypical character achieve before. Often Aamir lets his hugely-charming co-star Asin take over the scenes. She's a bit of a livewire, this fast-talking scooter-riding do-gooder with a penchant for getting into snarls. And when one snarl involving a prostitution racket for minor girls takes her to the doorstep and beyond of savage death, we mourn for the passing of innocence and charm as much as Sanjay Singhania. These are not pretty times that we are living through. Ghajini in some subverted way is indicative of our traumatic times. The brutal cocksureness with which the villain Ghajini(Pradeep Rawat) murders Kalpana and pounds Sanjay Singhania's head to a memory mess, is a telescopic view of what the sociopath can do to civil society. No one is safe from criminal attack. Not even the super-elite like Sanjay Singhania. Ghajini is not for the squeamish. The violence is prolonged, sadistic and often done with the elaborate abundance and eye-catching elan of a staged opera (Ravi Chandran's camerawork glistens and bristles with optimum optical glory). And yet women in the audience seemed to love the film. Ghajini is at heart a love story of a cocooned tycoon who discovers love in a working-class environment. Aamir Khan's expressions of bewilderment, curiosity pleasure and acceptance in Asin's company remind you of a baby that's just discovered mother-love. That a film as violent as Ghajini secretes such tenderness at its heart, is a wonder that never ceases in the frenetic narration. Director Murugadoss is not completely successful in taking the Tamilian mood of melodramatized mayhem out of the narrative. He nevertheless succeeds in giving a compelling spin to what would have otherwise been a routine vendetta saga. Sequences such as the one in the speeding train where Kalpana is chased down by goons have an edge-of-the-seat quality that elevates the potboiler plot to a level that the revenge genre in Hindi has seldom achieved. The climactic combat with the eponymous villain is staged in narrow dusty lanes and bylanes where the rubble and waste material becomes lethal weapons of attack and stock-taking. No doubt Murugadoss is a master of violence. His eye for pain and trauma are unerring and chilling. A lot has been said and written about Aamir Khan's pumped-up physique. He's wonderfully primeval as the amnesiac animal screaming in bloodcurdling isolation. But the sinewy quality in Aamir's performance is not traceable to his muscles. It's the way his heart beats for this unfortunate character who loses love memory and faith all in one swoop, that makes Aamir's performance a towering achievement. I am not too sure if the muscled look suits the actor. But his remarkable grip over his character's graph gives the film its vaunted and vibrant feel of poetry beyond the in-your-face savagery and violence which would have otherwise become unbearably oppressive. Asin with her gamine-like dukaan of expressions is the female discovery of 2008. When she bows out of the plot, the lights go out. And not just from Sanjay Singhania's life.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Dec 2008 | 9:43 am Saif Ali Khan admitted to hospitalMumbai (Reuters) Actor Saif Ali Khan was admitted to a Mumbai hospital on Thursday after he complained of stomach pain, a hospital spokesperson said.Source: Reuters: Bollywood News | 26 Dec 2008 | 9:42 am
