The actress in her very first film, got a chance to star along side the 'Badshah of Bollywood'- Shah Rukh Khan. Even though the film got a good response from the audiences, the lass hasn't changed much. She is still content with the de-glam look that she has been sporting since the beginning. In fact, at the recently held event to meet and greet fans at Fame Malad, she had worn the same pair of sandals that she wore at her first interaction with the media. Seems kind of funny for a girl who has just made her debut with SRK in a YRF film to repeat her apparel. Further more, by the look of both the images, it seems like Anushka is pretty content with her current designer, we wonder when will she actually get into the glam image that one associates with a typical Bollywood star?Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Dec 2008 | 3:21 pm Madras High Court stays screening of 'Ghajini'The Madras High Court Tuesday stayed the release of Aamir Khan-starrer Hindi film 'Ghajini', that hits the screens Thursday.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 23 Dec 2008 | 3:01 pm All you wanted to know about GhajiniAamir Khan fans wait with bated breath for a movie of their favorite actor. Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 2:34 pm "I've never seen a ghost or had an encounter with the supernatural" - Mohit Suri(In exactly a month from now, Raaz - The Mystery Continues would release all over. Again, a debate is heating up around science v/s spirits. Mohit Suri, director of the film, pens down his thoughts as he argues that for the rational, there is always a sort of cosmic battle raging between reason and superstition) The fog descends gently. White mist caresses the hard black tar of the road. It's twilight and the moon's just coming up in the distance. In the quiet evening, I can hear my boots crunching the gravel as I walk on the deserted stretch from my hotel to the shops, rubbing my fast-numbing hands. I'm struck by the mystery that is Shimla - its haunting beauty, hills filled with echoes of lifetimes past, towering trees and foggy pathways carpeted by pine needles. They've been here for decades, long before I was even born. I wonder if they've witnessed firsthand the strange legends I've heard during my stay here. Tales of those who've never really left Shimla, even though they've abandoned their physical form, whose spirits continue to inhabit beautiful old structures with new people living in them. Heart-wrenching stories of loss, of unrequited love, of phantom memsahibs riding sidesaddle on ghost horses. Spine-chilling stories of hatred and evil, of possession and madness, and more. From Ruskin Bond to Rudyard Kipling to Khushwant Singh, Indian literature is replete with Shimla's ghost stories. As my imagination runs riot, it's a relief to turn the corner into the diverting hustle-bustle of the market place. I've never seen a ghost or had an encounter with the supernatural. As a rationalist I'm able to explain mysterious noises, disappearances, and dreams. Travelling around the country, shooting for Raaz-The Mystery Continues, however, I've met many people who've had first-hand encounters with the supernatural. Their unshakable conviction in the narration of these experiences sends a chill down my rational spine. In Surat, we heard of a village, which despite having a well in it, has been abandoned because of regular sightings of a ghost. Everyone in the village we met corroborated the authenticity of this tale. In Delhi, I met a medium who channels spirits. This person was able to reveal facts I thought would be difficult to find out from public sources. We shot with special permission in an area in Bangarh in Rajasthan where the government does not allow access after 4 pm because of a history of untoward experiences. If supernatural forces do exist, this place would be a favourite hangout. Ever so often, a crew member would come shaking with fear at something he thought he saw or heard, which we'd laugh away over a cup of tea and a pat on the back, but then were surreptitiously glad to call it a night. In Mumbai, Mukesh Mills, a popular spot for film shoots has tales of a murdered dancer haunting it. Crew will testify to the number of unexplained technical glitches that occurred at the location from lights bursting into flames to hard disks crashing to unexplained soot on people's faces. There are rational explanations for these experiences of course. It could be a stage-managed affair by a builder interested in propagating the story to gain access to the property. It could be long-established associations of dark, abandoned places and whistling winds replaying images from the corners of the mind of what is considered spooky, attributing visions where there are none. It could be a wish to thrill, like craving the excitement of being on a roller coaster, or a desire born of a yearning to believe in the possibility of a reconnection with a loved one who's passed away. In a country besieged by superstition and belief in the supernatural, it's not hard to come across people in the most normal settings attributing events to otherworldly causes. But then you come across incidents that you just can't brush away with rational explanations because you know the people who tell you about those are not given to exaggerations and cheap bluffs. Like a friend's four-year-old daughter who has recurring dreams of herself as a man trapped in a burning tower screaming for help. Her hypnotherapist says these could be past life visions, a concept her 'rational' parents struggle with but are increasingly prone to believe in the light of their daughter's descriptions. If one can even consider the possibility of a past life, why not the fact that a soul may not have moved on after death? Another friend's mother moved into an old building 30 years ago. Alone in the house, she would hear the sound of boots clicking through the long corridor outside the rooms. Someone told her an Army general had died in the flat a few years ago. While spring-cleaning she found a pair of army boots. She put them into the ocean with a prayer for the general's soul to attain peace. She has never heard the sound of boots again. These are real stories uncovered by my interactions and conversations with real people. For most scientists and students of the subject like me, there's a sort of a cosmic battle raging between scientific reason and religious superstition, where only one can win. However, there are also a number of highly respected scientists who make the case that there is only so much that science can explain. After that, it's all hypotheses. I read an article where Sir Peter Medawar, who won the Nobel Prize for medicine for his work on immunobiology, reflected on how science, despite being "the most successful enterprise human beings have ever engaged upon", had limits to its scope. "Science is superb", it said, "when it comes to showing that the chemical formula for water is H2O. Or, more significantly, that DNA has a double helix. But what of that greater question: what's life all about?" This, and others like it, Medawar insisted, were "questions that science cannot answer, and that no conceivable advance of science would empower it to answer". They could not be dismissed as "non-questions or pseudo questions such as only simpletons ask and only charlatans profess to be able to answer. This is not to criticize science, but simply to calibrate its capacities." While I've been a complete rationalist so far, and view with great skepticism tales of the after-life, I have to say that after meeting so many people with real stories in these last few months, I do listen to them with greater openness than ever before.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Dec 2008 | 2:20 pm Create freaky videos, meet director Mohit SuriIn a unique promotion stint for forthcoming supernatural movie 'Raaz-The Mystery Continues', social networking website ibibo.com is urging budding filmmakers to create freaky videos and giving them a chance to meet the film's director Mohit Suri.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 23 Dec 2008 | 2:02 pm Bombay High Court allows 'Ghajini' releaseThe Bombay High Court has allowed 'Ghajini' to be released on Dec 25 (Thursday) even though the case filed against its producer for alleged violation of copyright is still pending in the court.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 23 Dec 2008 | 2:02 pm Britney and Sandip to do dance of love! - Hindustan Times

RahmanMUMBAI (Reuters Life!) - He is the first Indian composer to get a Golden Globe nomination and there's an Oscar buzz around his score in "Slumdog Millionaire", but A.R. Rahman is unfazed by talk of awards.Source: Reuters: Bollywood News | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:32 pm "Ghajini is the main 'clue' in the film" - A.R. MurugadossHe is quite a popular name down South and his first Hindi film (as a director) Ghajini is among the most awaited films of this year. We are talking about none other than director A.R. Murugadoss, who in his very first Hindi film, gets the golden opportunity to direct actor par excellence Aamir Khan. With just a few days to go for the release of Ghajini, Bollywood Hungama caught up with A.R. Murugadoss for a tete-a-tete and asked him what Ghajini is all about. Murugadoss, to start with, with Ghajini as your first film in Bollywood, could you give us a general background of your film making? Before entering Bollywood, I have made 4 other films, of which, three are in Tamil and one in Telugu. Ghajini will effectively be my fifth film. In each of my films, I have worked with the biggest names in the industry. In fact, to be working with an actor like Aamir Khan is indeed a dream come true for a Bollywood debutante director like me. As for the film, I cannot really explain it in words; one has to watch the film to understand what I mean! Aamir Khan is indeed a dream come true for a Bollywood debutante director like me Was entering Bollywood always on your 'things-to-do' list? And was Aamir your first choice for the lead in Ghajini? Actually, when I was making the Tamil version of the film by the same name, it was Pradeep Rawat (who plays the main villain in both the versions and also happens to be Aamir's close friend) who recommended that I approach Aamir to star in the Hindi version of the film. However, at that time I didn't take it seriously as I thought that Aamir was a chocolate hero, and, hence, he wouldn't suit the role. But after the release of the Tamil version of the film, I got a call from Aamir himself saying he had watched the film and that he really liked it. With the confidence that I got from this, I immediately approached Aamir to do the film. Aamir was a bit reluctant initially. I remember him saying "The perfect person for this role in Bollywood is Salman Khan". However, I managed to convince him saying that if Salman did the film it would be just another Salman movie. But if he did it, then it would give a different perspective to the film and story. I thought that Aamir was a chocolate hero; hence, he wouldn't suit the role What was it like doing your debut film with a superstar like Aamir? Even though I was nervous initially, Aamir was extremely helpful. I was nervous because I kept on thinking here I am to direct a full fledged Hindi film, even though I can't speak a word in Hindi! However, almost every evening Aamir with me and would sit down and discuss about everything under the sun! For me working in my mother tongue was a cake walk, but thanks to Aamir Khan, I had developed enough confidence to make my Hindi venture. Since I am a big fan of Aamir, I very happy when he agreed to do my film. Since I am a big fan of Aamir, I was very happy when he agreed to do my film. You said that Aamir was a bit reluctant to do the film. Can you tell us why? It actually took him about four days to say yes to do the film. He went through the script and frankly speaking, I don't even know as to what made him say yes finally. All that I can say what that he liked the screenplay very much. Can you tell us something more about Ghajini? Well, Ghajini is the main 'clue' in the film. Besides this, if I tell you anything, it will ruin the entire suspense that has been created for the story. Ghajini is the main 'clue' in the film Is it true that you have modified and changed the film's script from the original Tamil version? Yes. There have been some changes and the main reason for this was the fact that when the Tamil version came out, the audiences' feedback in the south said it all. For instance, in the end there was a duet-song sequence, which the audience felt that with all the emotions there that particular song was out of place. So, in the Hindi version, I did away with that song and replaced it with the new track that A.R.Rahman composed. Apart from this, the end 20 minutes of the film is also totally different from the Tamil version. What was Aamir's reaction to the script and the entire shooting process? Luckily for me, the film is a remake and Aamir had a basic idea of the film, which cut down my work load by half. Besides, at times while shooting I wanted to change some scenes, dialogues or some other small intricacy, Aamir insisted on retaining the original. What also surprised me was the attention Aamir paid to the smallest of things while shooting. Now, I know as to why he is called 'The Perfectionist' Khan. Now, I know as to why Aamir is called 'The Perfectionist' Khan. Whenever Aamir has worked on a film, it is said that he gives a lot of inputs. Was it the same with Ghajini also? Contrary to what you say, Aamir was not at all involved in the making of the film. Not even once did he ever interfere with the filming. In fact, he said that he wanted the film in entirely my taste and that if I had any problems with the language or anything else, only then should I call him in. Contrary to reports, Aamir was not at all involved in the making of the film. What's your take on the physique that Aamir has developed? His physique was developed as the script basically required the character to be in fit condition. So getting such a physique was not at all Aamir's call, instead, it was the script that needed it. Aamir is often called a 'Perfectionist'. What are your views on this? For Aamir to be called as a perfectionist is seriously an understatement. He is so very observant and hard working, that rarely have I seen anybody like him. The dedication level that he has for whatever he does is insanely high. Even to get into his much-talked about physique, he had worked out for 3 to 4 hours a day. I have worked with Surya who in the south is considered to be the best, but Aamir is way better than him...he is simply in a league of his own. For Aamir to be called as a perfectionist is seriously an understatement What about Asin? Why did you have her play the same role in the Hindi version? Asin is a wonderful person. And when I was making the Hindi version, I could think of no one better than her to play the role. She fits 100% into the character. So basically there were no two ways about that...she just had to be there! What made you finalize on Jiah Khan? For Jiah's role, we had held auditions for which hundreds of girls had turned out. But, when Jiah stepped up, it was all settled. She was the one we were looking for! Her character in the film is a petite girl who's very intellectual. Jiah's appearance, charisma and the way she has carried herself in the film is simply perfect. Jiah's character in the film is a petite girl who's very intellectual Keeping in mind the numerous edits in the film by the censors, do you feel that will this affect the performance of the film at the Box-Office? Two or three scenes have indeed been deleted. But, in no way will that affect the over all outcome of the film. The parts that were deleted have very little importance, so, we could do without them. But, as a director, I do feel bad that there have to be some cuts. The film seems to be high in context to violence. What is your take on this? Let's face it that, Ghajini is an action film. So there are bound to be a few explosions here and there, even though I wouldn't want to term it as violence. Besides this, the film also has a lot of other emotions like love, fear etc... What was the toughest part of the shooting that stands out in your memory? The toughest part by far was the shooting of an action sequence in Hyderabad. This was really hard and trying, as all the actions that you will see is totally life-like. Aamir even injured his leg twice while shooting for the same sequence. Aamir injured his leg twice while shooting for the same sequence How important is it for the director to have an idea about the basics of script writing? It is very important that the director should know the basics of scripting. So that, when shooting he can make the minor adjustments without compromising on the look and feel of the film. Like when writing a script the entire sequence plays out in your mind, what dress the actress is wearing, what is the colour of it, is the shot indoors or not, the emotions that are running through her at that time and others. So if the director does not know scripting he will miss out on these details and the final out come will be totally different from what is intended. Ghajini is said to be a path breaking film, what do you think of that? Ghajini is surely going to be a path breaking film because we have introduced some of the new tools in film making, that, till now haven't been used. Apart from this, the entire film is a team effort right, right from the star cast, the director, producer, the cameramen and the technicians. Without their help and co-operation, Ghajini would not have been possible at all! Ghajini is surely going to be a path breaking film What according to you is Ghajini's USP? And what do you have to say about the audience who are already copying Aamir's look? If one has to talk of copying, then, let me tell you that it is basic star value that comes along when you have an actor like Aamir. So, no matter what he does, the audience will end up copying the look of his character. As far as the USP of Ghajini is concerned, it has to be its screenplay, Aamir's new physique and the story, to say the least. On an ending note, which is your favorite song from the film and give us a strong reason not to miss Ghajini? I can't actually name one single song as my favourite because each and every song is very, very special to me. One can look forward to the strong screenplay, which, according to me, the main driving force in the film. If that's not enough, then, there's action, story and Aamir's physique!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:17 pm Hollywood director Robert Mulligan dies at 83 in Connecticut!Robert Mulligan, the director of the movie classic "To Kill a Mockingbird" which brought the issue of entrenched racism in the US South to the screen, has died.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Pamela Anderson puts her ample charms up for display!Accidental or intentional, there is no stopping Pamela Anderson from displaying rather flashing her fake silicones every now and then.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Court agrees to pay Britney Spears` father USD75/hour!A court has put a higher value on being Britney Spears` father this year: about USD75 an hour.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Legal notice served to the distributor of `Jumbo`!Author Hari Kishore has slapped a legal notice on `Percept Picture Company`, the distributor of `Jumbo`.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm John feels honoured to be the brand ambassador of Mumbai Marathon 2009!The much awaited Mumbai Marathon, which is to be run on January 18 next year, has now got a new catchphrase.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Michael Jackson camp denies health problems!A spokesman for Michael Jackson released a statement on Monday denying as a "total fabrication" a report claiming that the former King of Pop needs a lung transplant due to a rare respiratory disease.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Muslim crew of Karan Johar`s `My Name Is Khan` denied US visa!As the ghost of the recent terror attacks in Mumbai continue to haunt the moolah churning Hindi Film Industry, six Muslim members of acclaimed filmmaker Karan Johar`s `My Name is Khan` were denied US visa.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Low on oomph, high on attitude; Vidya Balan dumps her mentor! She is yet to acquire the class and the size needed to claim the superstar stature, but that is not keeping Vidya Balan from throwing fits like one.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:11 pm Red Card for Nayantara? The Tamil Producers' Council has finally decided to impose a red card ban on leading actress Nayantara for not paying back Lingusamy's advance. Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 23 Dec 2008 | 9:45 am Producers of Kahani Ghajini Ki take Ghajini to CourtDownload Ghajini wallpapers In an instant-replay version of what happened with Yashraj Films' Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, the producers of Ghajini woke up on Monday morning to a court summon from the producers one KBC Pictures, claiming that they've the rights to remake the Tamil Ghajini and that Aamir's film is therefore an infringement of their (KBC's) copyright. The film titled Kahani Ghajini Ki has an Amitabh Bachchan lookalike in the lead. Hassled and frazzled by the pre-release procedures, Ghajini's producer Madhu Mantena rushed to court on Monday morning where the honourable judge allowed him to go ahead with the release procedure, arguing why the allegedly aggrieved party waited till a few days before the release of Ghajini to express his grievance. But the producers of Ghajini have been asked to return to court on December 24, a day before the film's worldwide release. Says Madhu, "This is such a blatant and crude method to stop our film's release. Obviously, the honorable judge saw through it and asked us to proceed, though we are supposed to present ourselves again in court on December 24. But it's a rather sad misuse of the judiciary by people who have nothing better to do than harass others. Where do they get the time to indulge in such transparently-fraudulent efforts? I mean, who had ever heard of Kahani Ghajini Ki until now? At least, I hadn't." Iqbal, the producer of Kahani Ghajini Ki, claims that KBC Pictures made a film by the said name, which has the same story as Ghajini, and that it cost them Rs 10 crores. Says Madhu, "It seems to me that this is nothing but an effort to make money by putting out a false case." Fortunately, Ghajini's release is unlikely to get affected. "We're holding special previews on 24 December before the release, but no premiere. The only time Aamir Khan had a premiere was for Imran's Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na. He's a better producer than I am." Aamir Khan doesn't approve of premieres. Madhu adds, "Even the mood at the moment is not conducive for celebrations. A premiere is too much of a hassle at the moment with so much happening around." All efforts to locate Iqbal of KBC Films failed.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Dec 2008 | 9:26 am Keeping her fingers crossedDownload Ghajini wallpapers Asin is keeping her fingers crossed! The verdict will be out in a few days from now. "I wouldn't say I am nervous. But I am anxious to know how the audiences react to the film and also to my performance. I haven't watched the film yet - I don't do that before it releases - but I've decided to watch it first day, first show," Asin states. Asin may belong to Kerala, but the pretty actress, who's a leading name in South, speaks Hindi fluently. "We shot GHAJINI in sync sound, so there was no question of not knowing the language," she smiles. In fact, Aamir had called up Asin after the screening of the Tamil version, congratulating her on her performance in the film. "In the end, he casually asked me if I could speak in Hindi. I replied in the affirmative. I didn't realize why he asked me that question, until the makers approached me for the Hindi remake," she reminisces. With GHAJINI and LONDON DREAMS in her kitty, Asin has decided to move bag and baggage to Mumbai. "I moved to Mumbai in January this year. But that doesn't mean I've closed the doors for South films. If the role interests me, I would instantly say 'yes' to a Tamil or Malayalam film. Let's see how the career goes after GHAJINI," she smiles.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Dec 2008 | 7:02 am 2008: The year of debutantesRecession or no recession, Bollywood continues to attract newcomers in hordes. A number of first-time directors tried their luck this year. Some succeeded, some didn't. But the best part was they had the courage to swim against the tide, narrating diverse stories. The debutante directors who created a solid impact this year included Abbas Tyrewala [JAANE TU⦠YA JAANE NA], Kunal Deshmukh [JANNAT], Neeraj Pandey [A WEDNESDAY], Rajkumar Gupta [AAMIR] and Tarun Mansukhani [DOSTANA]. And, if one may add one more name, Abhishek Kapoor [ROCK ON!!], who, after tasting failure in his debut film, staged a comeback with his second film. Ask Abbas Tyrewala what worked with the viewers and he replies instantly, "JAANE TU⦠YA JAANE NA was more of a nostalgic trip. You went back to the days when you weren't burdened with the responsibilities of life. That worked," he admits. Abhishek Kapoor, on the other hand, feels that ROCK ON!! worked because people could identify with its story and the life-like performances by every member of the cast. "If I had to make ROCK ON!! all over again, I'd choose the same cast. I can't think of anyone else doing justice to those roles," he remarks. Rajkumar Gupta, the man behind AAMIR, also feels that Rajeev Khandelwal portrayed the character with amazing precision. However, Rajeev and Rajkumar have decided against working with each other in their second films. Meanwhile, Karan Johar, Tarun Mansukhani's mentor, gives Tarun the credit for thinking out of the box, while producers Anjum Rizvi and Shital Bhatia attribute the super-success of A WEDNESDAY to its debutante director [Neeraj Pandey] as also the superior performances by stalwarts Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Dec 2008 | 6:58 am Is Aamirs Ghajini banned?Rumors are abuzz that the Ghajini starring Aamir Khan and Asin might be banned to be screened in TamilnaduSource: IndiaGlitz.com - News | 23 Dec 2008 | 12:00 am Jim Carrey's Yes Man tops US box office
