First-time director Sourabh Shrivastava's OH, MY GOD!! may give an impression that it's yet another offshoot of BRUCE ALMIGHTY [the source of GOD TUSSI GREAT HO], but the fact is that OH, MY GOD!! reminds you of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee/Basu Chatterjee films of the 1970s and 1980s. Like most debutante-helmed vehicles, OH, MY GOD!! comes with its share of plusses and minuses. In this case, the aces overpower the deficiencies. It has its heart in the right place. Given the fact that OH, MY GOD!! has been shot in 19 days, it doesn't look like a hurried job at all. Sourabh takes a simple story of a simpleton and narrates it in the most simplistic manner. OH, MY GOD!! rests on Vinay Pathak and Saurabh Shukla's firm shoulders and both deliver natural performances. Vinay is so very believable in the latter reels, while Saurabh is equally credible. After a major part of the shooting, the director and his entire crew had to hastily leave China and look for an alternative place to shoot the rest of the film. If New York is being shot in Philadelphia from Chandni Chowk To China has been shot in Bangkok. And with good reason. Says Nikhil, "It was the year of the Olympics in China and it became impossible beyond a point to shoot in the country where our film is based. Maybe a quieter less flamboyant filmâ¦but not the kind of action that Akshay has shot." Apparently, the Olympics authorities found Akshay Kumar's athletic exertions to be a bit of an intrusion in the preparations for the grand international event. Says Nikhil, "Bangkok's topography is quite similar to China. Also, it's a very Bollywood-friendly country. So we just had to let go of the real country. Because the action scenes required Olympian skills and infrastructure." Akshay Kumar had to battle it out with globally-known actors like Gordon Lieu who was in The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin and Roger Yuan, the main baddie in the Jackie Chan starrer Shanghai Noon. Says Nikhil, "Gordon Lieu is a well-known name in Hollywood and Roger Yuan is the only Asian actor who works out of Bollywood. They both play arch-villains. Then I've a cast of actors who are stalwarts in China. They held on their own against Akshay, even when they were taken out of their home ground and put into Bangkok masquerading as China." Incidentally, apart from Akshay, Mithun Chakraborty who was also quite an action star during his heydays has been given to do stunts in Chandni Chowk To China. Says Nikhil, "Mithunda will kick some ass too. Action is the backbone of my film. While other films have item songs Chandni Chowk To China has item-action. It's the action scenes that move the plot forward. The songs are extremely situational. I'm very lucky. I got Bappi Lahiri to re-do his 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost'. I think the music is a decent follow-up to my Salaam-e-Ishq." As for the expectations from the film, "Ya. I'm getting nervous as the release approaches." Next, Nikhil produces a film adapted from The Wedding Crashers. "Our production company has got together to co-produce a Hindi version of The Wedding Crashers with Warner Brothers. We've bought the rights and David Dhawan will be directing the film for us."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Dec 2008 | 10:36 am Halle Berry's split personality

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 3 Dec 2008 | 7:03 am Wishing Konkona Sen Sharma a Very Happy BirthdayIt's said that 'God created the world in six days and on the seventh day, He rested'. But little do people know that while resting, God realised that while he was busy creating the world, the plants, animals, birds and human beings, He had totally forgotten to create an Angel who can shoulder the responsibility of bringing smile to every face. And that's how the 'angelic' faced Konkona Sen Sharma was born! And the day happens to be today! In other words, Konkona is our today's Happy Birthday girl! Having made her debut in films at a very young age, Konkona followed it up as the main lead in the Hindi flick Mr & Mrs Iyer. Even though her performance stood out, this damsel hit the bull's eye with her super brilliant portrayal of a journalist in the award winning film Page 3. What followed after that were power packed performances by a ton which rewrote the rules of Box-Office! One definitely would notice the fact that none of her performances are actually larger than life. In fact, it is actually her who breathes life in the performances! We know that even before our requesting you, you must have surely started posting your wishes. But for starters, if you are one of those (like us) who feel that Konkona is what Bollywood is all about and vice versa, waste no time and post your happy birthday wishes to Konkona Sen Sharma below:Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Dec 2008 | 6:56 am "SRK is a terrific producer" - Irrfan KhanIrrfan Khan is extremely selective when it comes to films. "The script has to excite me. I should feel elated as I leave for the shoot every morning. In the past, I've accepted films that didn't excite me, but I took them up because they're vital for your career. Of course, I wouldn't like to name those films," Irrfan admits. So what was it about DIL KABADDI that got him charged? "My role. It's an extension of what I did in METRO. When I heard the script, I knew I had to do this role. It mirrors the life of a man living in a metropolis," pat comes the reply. Not many are aware that director Anil Senior had offered Irrfan the role that Rahul is now portraying in the film. "Rahul and I decided to swap roles," he smiles. But will the pairing with Soha Ali Khan work? "That's the beauty of this film. It's so unconventional. In fact, I'd go to the extent of saying that the chemistry is one of the USPs of this film," Irrfan says. Irrfan now looks forward to Priyadarshan's BILLOO BARBER and Jennifer Lynch's HISSS. How was it working with SRK in BILLOO BARBER? "Tremendous! I feel enriched. I always knew of him as a super-star, but he's an equally terrific producer. As an actor, he's just not insecure. I've started respecting him all the more," Irrfan's eyes glow as he talks of SRK. He's enjoying working with Jennifer Lynch too. "I've seen her films and was keen to work with her some day. HISSS is a different kind of a movie. Sure, it's about a snake woman [ichhadhaari nagin], but I bet, you haven't seen something like HISSS on the Indian screen before," he states confidently. Speaking exclusively to Raj and Pablo for this Saturday's (6 December) 'Love Bollywood' Show on BBC Asian Network, Shah Rukh speaks openly about why he hasn't talked about the attacks till now as well as his views on what the younger generation of Muslims should be concentrating on. Shah Rukh said "I've tried to keep away from commenting on this as there are no words to express a situation like this because our feelings are mixed with anger, disbelief and sadness." In light of the horrific attacks, Shah Rukh went on to give his thoughts on religion and the younger Muslim generation. "Being Muslim myself, I believe youngsters need to understand Islam and respect the religion in the right way. It's such a huge waste and my appeal to all in these times and in recent years is that please can we run what we want in terms of politics, government, jobs and teaching our children with the prime motive of taking communalism out of it. I think no agenda should be attached to any kind of religion." Shah Rukh spoke passionately about his views on what he feels should be the only religion the nations' children should follow - 'work'; he goes on to say, "The religion our children are born with should be something they practice as a discipline and work should be developed as the new religion."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 2 Dec 2008 | 4:55 pm I as a Muslim felt scared: Tyrewala
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 2 Dec 2008 | 4:47 pm "I am warning audience of my double role" - Chunky PandeyFor the first time ever in his two decade long career, Chunky Pandey is enacting a double role. Not just is he is maha-excited about his film, he is also warning the audience beforehand about what to expect, especially with two Chunky Pandeys on screen. The film in question is Sankat City which is directed by debutant Pankaj Advani. "The film is a black comedy and what makes it further special is the fact that for the first time in my career, I have a double role in a film", winks Chunky. Two Chunkys in a single film? Now that's quite some deal, isn't it? Laughs Chunky, "Yes, I am warning the audience beforehand, though let me tell you that the film features Kay Kay Menon and Rimi Sen as well. The film moves in real time and has an amazing screenplay to boast. Quite some effort went into creating my look and even I couldn't recognize myself when I saw myself for the first time in the mirror after my makeup was done." As per a source close to the film, "The role is a lot like what Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan had played in their respective versions of Don. Chunky plays a gangster who is bumped off and later replaced by a similar looking man. Though it isn't a spoof, it's still a funny role, because the serious North Indian Don is eventually replaced by a dark, funny looking, South Indian Don who speaks with a major twang." Sankat City has been produced by Anubhav Sinha and has been ready for some time. It was waiting for the right time to see a theatrical release and is now expected to see a kick start in promotion very soon.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 2 Dec 2008 | 4:42 pm "It would have been foolish on my part to let go of Meerabai" - Eijaz KhanIntrovert and to himself â¦are just some of the adjectives we'd heard about him. However once we got talking, we discovered there's more to Eijaz Khan, who rose to fame as Kkavya in Ekta Kapoor's 'Kkavyanjali'. True to the adage, silent waters run deep, Eijaz weighs all his words carefully, opens up slowly and gets chatty about his journey from television to films. After some forgettable films in the past, currently the good looking actor is eagerly awaiting his big film debut with PNC's Meerabai Not Out, in which he romances none other than Mandira Bedi. So, here goes Eijaz unplugged. So, tell us where you have been. We haven't heard much about you after the TV serial Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka wound up? I have definitely been around. It's just that life took a different turn for me and I graduated from television to films. And with god's grace, I am now awaiting the release of all my three films back to back. Most of the time, TV actors crave for that one good lead role in a film. After Meerabai Not Out releases next week, I also have Bhavra and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang lined up next year. Most of the time, TV actors crave for that one good lead role in a film Tell us a little about your role in Meerabai Not Out? What made you sign on this role? It was the first script which PNC offered me and it would have been foolish on my part not to have accepted it. It's a romantic comedy and I get to play a boy next door in the film. Along with a good producer, the film also promised me a good director in Chandrakant Kulkarni and a good starcast. Above all, we have Anil Kumble which adds more to value to the project. Anil has some very good scenes in the film. Go on ⦠Meerabai⦠is a beautiful romantic comedy wherein I play Dr Arjun Awasti, a cardiologist. His father is after his life to get married and settle down but he doesn't want to. But the plot unfolds when he falls in love with Meera, a `cricket crazy 'girl. So, are you praying real hard for the success of the film? I am not a very religious person. Religion for me means being good to fellow human beings. My claim to fame has really been the small screen. But to have immediately grabbed these roles is an achievement for me. Also, one can never really plan things in this industry. As an actor, I just do my bit and leave the rest to destiny. Tell us a little about Kiss Biss Bang Bang and Bhavra? At this stage, I wouldn't like to reveal more about these films .Dharmesh Darshan's production debut Bhavra is at the post production stage. The film has all TV stars in it and we all have some real bold scenes in it. Whereas, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a psychological thriller. Dharmesh Darshan's production debut Bhavra is at the post production stage. The film has all TV stars in it and we all have some real bold scenes in it As an actor, did you feel you had to emote differently for a film vis-à -vis soap? How did you prepare for your roles? Not really. While giving a shot, I wasn't really conscious about the fact that I am shooting for a film. Balaji was my learning ground and I had picked up all my ropes as an actor from there. Do you attribute your success to Ekta Kapoor? Definitely, it was her show 'Kkvayanjali' which made me a household name. This couple with all the other K serial I had acted in. Let's rewind to your struggling days? I am an engineer by profession. I had done a few stage shows, tried choreography with Ganesh Hegde, then a bit of modeling. Later when somebody at Balaji spotted me in a video, they called me for an audition. Just after the audition, Ekta saw me and she signed me on. Initially, I was very miserable as I didn't know who Tulsi and Parvati are and felt very out of place. My dialogue delivery was really bad but all the other guys like Iqbal and Shabbir helped me a lot. You love dancing but how come we haven't seen you in any of the reality shows? Oh, that's true I love dancing. I have been offered most of these shows which are on air currently. But I hate the concept of dancing to garner votes from the public. I love dancing but I hate the concept of dancing to garner votes from the public What's your life mantra? Kaam ke saat kabhi chori nahi karte, one has to give hundred percent in life, I always put in 100 per cent in all that Are you still seeing Anita Hassanandani? Some things are better left unsaid. I wouldn't like to comment on my personal life as I have suffered a lot in the past because of a few statements.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 2 Dec 2008 | 4:05 pm A. R. Rahman had even composed some tunes for Mani Ratnam's now shelved project Lajjo. The film was to star Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles, but due to certain reasons never took off. Now, the buzz has it that a few of the songs which Rahman had composed for Lajjo would be used by Rahman in Mani Ratnam's current project Raavana (working title). Mani Sir, as he is fondly known as, is once again directing the famous Abhi-Ash jodi in this drama and when Rahman approached Mani with the thought of using some of his earlier composed songs (from Lajjo) in this film, Mani readily agreed. One thing's for sure, if the music of Raavana turns out to be a chartbuster, Aamir and Kareena would surely rue their luck.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 2 Dec 2008 | 3:59 pm Toonz, Marvel tie up for second part of X-Men seriesSingapore-based animation major Toonz Entertainment Pte Ltd has tied up with Marvel Animation to produce the second part of the popular animated television series 'Wolverine and the X-Men', a top official said here Tuesday.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 2 Dec 2008 | 3:33 pm Suniel Shetty surrenders in Chandigarh court, granted bailBollywood actor Suniel Shetty surrendered before a court here Tuesday in a case relating to a dishonoured cheque and was immediately granted bail.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 2 Dec 2008 | 3:30 pm Pay-per-view service opens new revenue stream for film industryThe pay-per-view (PPV) services, offered by the direct to home (DTH) satellite TV service providers, will soon become another lucrative revenue stream for the Indian film sector, an industry lobby said Tuesday.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 2 Dec 2008 | 3:30 pm Kazakh film wins Golden Peacock at India film festivalCelebrated Kazakh documentary film maker Sergei Dvortsevoy's film 'Tulpan' Tuesday won the Golden Peacock award and a cash prize of Rs.4 million on the concluding day of the 39th International Film Festival of India in Panaji.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 2 Dec 2008 | 3:00 pm Neil Mukesh records title track of Aa Dekhen ZaraWe had earlier told you that Neil Mukesh would be making his singing debut in Jehangir Surti's film Aa Dekhen Zara (earlier titled Freeze). After having impressed one and all with his acting histrionics, will Neil be able to create magic with his vocal chords? One will have to wait and watch or should we say wait and hear!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 2 Dec 2008 | 2:14 pm Mumbai terror aftermath - Vishal Dadlani files petition for CHANGE"I have been mighty upset ever since the Mumbai terror attack. The disappointment is not just for those ghastly three days that I spent in front of TV but also the activities around me that have been taking place ever since then", says a visibly disturbed Vishal Dadlani who is now filing a petition for CHANGE. "It is good to see us venting our frustration through blogs, SMSes and other means. However, I want people to stand up for the cause and do something about it as well. This is why I am filing a petition for CHANGE. I am addressing media here. I think that in the absence of responsible self-censorship, the media must be instructed to act in a particular manner, as required by on-ground reality." For this purpose, he has opened a website www.smallchange.in through which he is calling people to sign a petition that aims at inviting a change in the way electronic media operates in such times of National distress and emergency. He says, "Just like the rest of the world, I saw our local Police try to figure things out, I watched our valiant Officers Karkare, Salaskar and Kamte arrive, and almost immediately, lose their lives. I saw the NSG and Marcos arrive and started to watch each step of their operation, when suddenly, realization dawned! Over the next thirty or forty hours, I watched, helpless and frustrated, as our very own electronic media did things that seemed blatantly wrong to me. What they were broadcasting in the name of the news, were in fact the exact operational procedures, locations, and actions of our anti-insurgency forces! Minute-by-minute!" Vishal goes on to put forth the following questions: 1. Is it acceptable to us that what should have been a classified operation, was in fact an open book? Are we fine with the fact that terrorists inside the besieged buildings could have had real-time access to the same news channels that we did, thus giving them complete and thorough information about the actions of our forces? 2. Whether it's correct, both morally and legally, for a TV channel to broadcast to the Nation, an alleged live phone call, purportedly from one of the terrorists? 3. Some TV channels also had "live-and-direct" phone conversations with guests within the hotels, in which the said guests divulge their locations and room numbers. I can't see the point, or the newsworthiness of this. In his Petition to the High Court of Mumbai, he is also looking at the Hon'ble Court calling for the complete and unedited footage from all TV News Channels broadcasting the attacks 'live', starting from 9:30pm on Wednesday 26th November 2008 and until the morning of Saturday the 29th November 2008. "I urge more and more people to come forward and be with me in this initiative. Please visit www.smallchange.in to read the full text of the Petition and sign there to support the cause. I am willing to drive this initiative to the fullest and promise to go to Court as and when it is required. I don't want the voice to die down", concludes Vishal.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 2 Dec 2008 | 1:53 pm "I've never felt safer in Mumbai as an Indian Muslim" - Abbas TyrewalaAfter 26/11, the Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na director who made the brotherly 'jadoo ki jhappi' a passion statement after writing Munnabhai, feels a never-before sense of belonging in a city that has never been ravaged. "Frankly, considering the immensity of the attack this time, I as an Indian Muslim felt scared. I thought there would be a backlash. But call it the power of unity during crisis, not one voice of dissent against the Indian Muslim was heard in the entire city. Not once have I felt accusing eyes looking at me." Abbas feels it was very important for Indians to recognize the difference between Islam and terrorism. "And the latest attack on Mumbai has clearly brought out the difference, clearly shown us that the right-thinking Indian Muslim is not a terrorist. That Hindu or Muslim, we're all united against the fight against terrorism," says Abbas who has been married to a Hindu girl for two years. "My family and I have lived in Mumbai for fifty years. My father has never hurt a fly. Neither do I think have I. At this time, when Mumbai has gone through its worst attack ever, it was very important for me to feel a sense of absolute identification with the mainstream. Otherwise can you imagine how much they'd have celebrated in Pakistan if communal riots had broken out in our country after 26/11? Thank God we didn't give them the pleasure of celebrating from now till the New Year." Abbas feels it's time Pakistan acknowledged itself as the harbourer of terrorism. "Let them come out in the open and say they've nothing to do with these people who infiltrate our peace and then leave these terrorists to be dealt with by us. Or otherwise let Pakistan deal with its own terrorism and let's deal with our own. But please let's stop pretending about where these attacks are originating."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 2 Dec 2008 | 12:59 pm
