Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 21 Nov 2008 | 3:51 pm Abhay Deol pickpockets Bobby Deol's walletDownload Oye Lucky!... wallpapers Abhay Deol, who plays a quirky thief in his next release Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, seems to have completely got into character for his role in the film. While shooting, Abhay picked up several tricks of the trade employed by thieves to outsmart the police. And even after it was pack up time, Abhay decided to have some fun and practice at the expense of his near and dear ones. One such instance took place when Abhay was enjoying a family lunch with cousin Bobby Deol. Abhay slowly flicked Bobby's wallet without him having the slightest possible clue. After a nice meal, when Bobby put his hands into his pocket to take out his wallet, he got the shock of his life and found his wallet missing. Needless to say, Bobby started to panic, as the wallet had not just cash but several of his debit and credit cards It was then that Abhay (with his mischievous smile) decided to spill the beans and told Bobby bhaiya that his wallet was safe and sound with him. Ever since then, Abhay's close friends and relatives have been teasing the actor about an alternate career option. When quizzed about this incident, Abhay laughs and says, "Yaar... I am serious about my alternate career. I have become good at haath ki safai. I can manage to do petty stealing without any issues. What I did with Bobby was just a harmless exercise. The idea was not to hurt anybody. I was just checking if I could manage to do it and yes now I surely know that I can."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 21 Nov 2008 | 3:23 pm Farhan Akhtar signed as the brand ambassador for Maruti's A-StarIt's always said that 'All it takes in Bollywood is an eternal push to hit that jackpot'. This couldn't have been more true to the ace director-producer-now-turned- actor - singer Farhan Akhtar. Much before his milestone movie Rock On, Farhan was always considered to be this reclusive filmmaker et al. But the success of Rock On has changed things for this man in many ways than one. After having garnered (read 'well-earned') sky-high praises for his acting and singing skills, Farhan has now plunged into yet another territory: modelling! Yes, you heard it right. Farhan will now be seen endorsing the automobile major Maruti Suzuki's latest offering, a small segment car named 'A-Star', which has a well-suited tagline 'Stop @ (At) Nothing'. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Farhan said, "Yes. I am endorsing Maruti's 'A-Star'. Besides the press ads there's also a TV commercial that has been shot which will get aired by early next month." If the success of Rock On was any indication of what Farhan's new-found fans are all about, then, its only about time that Maruti should surely follow our advice and make ample cars as the 'demand' will be more 'rocking' than the 'supply'! What say Farhan?Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 21 Nov 2008 | 3:22 pm "Actually, all of us are banking on Katrina's luck for Yuvvraaj" - Anil KapoorIt's near impossible to think of a more talented character in Bollywood than Anil Kapoor. He's excelled in so many characters since his Woh Saat Din days it's almost unbelievable. Once considered to be the Casanova of Indian cinema, he still is growing stronger day by day and year by year, and for anyone fearing that life after 40 is a slow and mortifying descent towards death, the story of Anil Kapoor must be a real heart-warmer. Anil's career has been long, remarkably varied, and marked by a loyalty to the Indian Film Industry that made him what he is today - the Yuvvraaj. In this Bollywood Hungama exclusive, the actor gets candid and canny with London correspondent Devansh Patel about his upcoming film Yuvvraaj, his co-star Salman Khan, Bollywood's lucky mascot Katrina Kaif and the director whom he says has given him the best and the most number of hits in his career, Subhash Ghai. The promos of Yuvvraaj remind me of your Eeshwar days. How different is your character you play in Yuvvraaj then? For me to say that both my Eeswar role and Yuvvraaj role is the same is not true. Both are different. If I humorously quote then here he is rich and lives in Europe (laughs). He loves music and is a special child of the Yuvvraaj family even though he is the eldest of the three brothers. The only similarity is that both are innocent and autistic. Subhash Ghai is such a filmmaker that he considers his films as life and death. He is the real Yuvvraaj It's evident that you are Subhash Ghai's favourite after having done 7 films with him so far. Well, if you say so, but you'll have to ask him why he considers me in many of his films. Subhash Ghai is such a filmmaker that he considers his films as life and death. He works like that and you'll only come to know that once you work with him or know him personally. He gives his best to his films. He is an all-rounder and does not collaborate. He does everything on his own and hats off to him. Today's filmmaking has changed a lot. You get the best people on board and make a film. Subhash doesn't believe in that. He is glued on to every department of filmmaking, be it the script, the editing, etc. No wonder he always comes out with flying colours. He is the real Yuvvraaj. Salman is a kind of an actor who looks disinterested when off the sets but when the camera rolls, he comes out with a stunning performance From a fun filled comic role in No Entry with Salman, you're now doing a seriously serious role in Yuvvraaj with him. How was the experience? Working with Salman is always a pleasure. You seem to be in a happy and a joyous mood when you're working with him. You're undoubtedly having a ball while acting. He is a kind of an actor who looks disinterested when off the sets. But when the camera rolls, he is right there, focused and comes out with a stunning performance. You tend to look at the monitor and think he is so young, good looking and awesome. So who looks young on screen, Anil or Salman? (laughs) Good question. You see, me and Salman discuss the same question when we are together. Jabhi aapko koi apni umar puche, toh use bees saal zyaada bataon. We both have now decided that when anybody asks us our age, we will say that we are 55 to 60 year olds. Eros International marketed and distributed your baby Gandhi My Father, are you happy that Yuvvraaj is too in their hands? I definitely agree that in today's time, marketing and distribution has become as important as the filmmaking itself. But you'll have to wait and watch how Yuvvraaj is marketed. Eros and Kishore Lulla are one of the top most distributors for Bollywood films. They are the best and I'm sure they will give it their best shot when it comes to distribution. So far, it's been a success and in days to come, it will only double up. So let's wait and watch how Yuvvraaj's fate is decided by marketing. How was it to be working with the young talent like Zayed Khan for the first time? He is a great looking guy and a lovely human being. I am very fond of their family and get along very well with his sister and mother. They are wonderful people. Zayed's family has been with me since my early days in the industry. Their entire response towards me has been consistent till date and Zayed's warmth, attitude and loving nature comes from this upbringing of his. Zayed has acted very well in the film and I think it's his best role ever. How do you rate the music of the film? Do we need to mention it when it's A.R.Rahman's music? All the songs are simply superb. Giving an unusual music is a tough job but Rahman knows it best. My favourite song in Yuvvraaj is 'Dost'. It's got a beautiful melody and is very beautifully shot. It is difficult to judge which is Rahman's best, Taal or Yuvvraaj. I think both stand out given the subject of the film. It is difficult to judge which is Rahman's best, Taal or Yuvvraaj Katrina is being termed the lucky mascot for Yuvvraaj. It's welcoming, isn't it? (laughs) Yes, you got it right. She has been lucky ever since she has moved in Bollywood and its only doing good for our industry and for her personally. Our last film together, Welcome, grossed the best ever collections for a comic caper. It had Katrina too. So we hope Yuvvraaj to be a blockbuster too. Actually, all of us are banking on Katrina's luck for this film. Actually, all of us are banking on Katrina's luck for this film All the roles you've played recently have been very different, right from Tashan to Welcome and now Yuvvraaj and next year comes Slumdog Millionaire. Critics are loving you more day by day. Thanks to them but even though Tashan failed at the box office, my role was well received by one and all. Even Welcome was a welcome change. Acting is a commercial business and you have to keep that in mind. I may have done several similar roles but my directors were different. It's art and commerce. These decisions are taken instinctively sometimes. There are no set rules to what I do and what I don't do. If my roles were different and people and the critics have loved it, it's good for them. For me, it's my job and there is no escape. My whole approach is very unpredictable. I will choose my role in a split second. I hear that you're also going to be seen singing in the film? The most difficult part in the film is the singing I've done. All of it is classical. It was one of the most stressful yet one of the most memorable moments of my life. You have to see the film to know further. Did you do a bit of research for your role or was it script bound? I went through a book titled 'A Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat'. It's a book about these kinds of characters, autistic and special children. This book was really helpful when it came to my acting in Yuvvraaj. That book gave my character the strength. The most difficult part in the film is the singing I've done. All of it is classical Is Lakhan missing his Ram? Always. I always miss him. In fact, I miss my Sita too, Madhuri (laughs). Jackie is a brother to me. We have given Indian Film Industry some of its finest films and all directed by Subhash Ghai. Any message for your fans? I am awaiting their feedback this year for Yuvvraaj and do watch Slumdog Millionaire next year. It's a hell of a good film. Ditto with Yuvvraaj. It's my best ever role in a Subhash Ghai film.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 21 Nov 2008 | 3:09 pm Aishwarya Rai pays surprise visit to father on his b'dayAishwarya Rai took time off from her busy shooting schedule in Kochi for Mani Ratnam's 'Ravana' to fly back to Mumbai for dad Krishnaraj Rai's 70th birthday.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 21 Nov 2008 | 3:01 pm Watch out, Mumbai! - Times of India

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 21 Nov 2008 | 2:30 pm "Yuvvraaj is Ram-Lakhan in the new millennium" - Subhash GhaiSubhash Ghai is no stranger to the story of brothers in love. But here's a kahani mein new twist. The Showman who is back to direction to make one of his most expensive films says Yuvvraaj is a new interpretation of his Ram Lakhan theme. "Ten years ago when I made Ram Lakhan, times were different. Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor played brothers who were ready to die for one another. Now Anil who was the chota bhai plays the eldest brother. Now the brotherly ties are more businesslike. I wouldn't say the sibling relationships are all about money. But commerce has definitely crept into our lives in a big way and it shows in Yuvvraaj." A not-so-secret formula of Subhash Ghai's long-standing success is his ability to change with the times. "Makeovers are very important. We all have to do it." Yuvraaj is the first Subhash Ghai film with elements of classical western music. Ghai grew up listening to the musical classical greats from both India and the West. "Do you know when playback music was introduced into our cinema, Western classical music was also incorporated into. Look at 'Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh' in Shri 420; it's as jazzy as a Hindi song can get. Somewhere down the line, Hindi music lost its connection with Western music. I've tried to re-establish that connectivity in Yuvvraaj." For the first time we get to hear the cello in a Hindi film. "My film opens with a long passage on the cello. Rahman, Gulzar and I sat over every note trying to get the music right. Yuvvraaj is my first full-fledged musical since Taal. And I can't think of anyone except A. R. Rahman who could've given me this score." The elaborate choreography comes from years of Western influences. "I love watching Broadway shows, operas and theatre whenever I'm abroad. Those visuals have stayed with me .And I've used them in Yuvvraaj. Sadly today choreography is not what it used to be. When Vyjanthimala or Madhuri danced, the shooting went on non-stop for 7-8 days. Nowadays it's done in 2-3 days and the editing takes care of all the dance movements." The choreography in Yuvvraaj is inspired by the big extravagant musicals of the West. "I've poured my heart and art into making this film. I'd call it a musical in the truest sense. People are looking at the film as some kind of clutter-breaker. It's a responsibility that I'm not a stranger to such responsibilities." Next, Ghai goes into a film starring Dilip Kumar. "Again, a huge responsibility. I've finished the first draft of the script. I'll get to work on that project as soon as Yuvvraaj is released."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 21 Nov 2008 | 1:42 pm SRK bags Rs 18 lakh-a-night suite at Atlantis

Kangna features on the cover of the famous fashion magazine 'Seventeen' with her trademark (or should we say 'patented') Rapunzel-like tress, that beats everyone's stress! Kangna, on her own admission, speaks (read 'confesses') that she was never a lazy child as she was always up to something. No wonder then, when she started acting, she just did not want to get settled as a mediocre actor. She also goes on to say that after 3-4 movies more, she might just take the plunge into direction and writing screenplays! This once upon a time wannabe-Prime-Minister-would be- Indira Gandhi, simply sweeps you by your feet as she says that the day she becomes the Prime Minister, she will change everything! Her wisdom talks just do not end here. You can now read more about Kangna, only in the recent issue of 'Seventeen'!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 20 Nov 2008 | 4:15 pm "I will soon sign an action film" - John AbrahamEver since he made his big screen debut close to six years back with Jism, John Abraham has been seen in quite a few action movies. Kabul Express, Zinda, Kaal, Karam, Elaan and Dhoom are some of them. However, in none of these movies did he get a chance to go full on in action mode since most of them were set as thrillers rather than hard core actioners. However, John now promises that he would change the face of body making in an action film which he is about to sign in quick time. "If you thought that Dostana was good then wait till next year. I am going to surprise quite a few and in the process change the face of body making. I have tasted blood with Dostana and have now mastered the art. I am now being able to explore all that I can do with my body. I will soon sign an action film", says John Abraham in a super confident tone after his Dostana opened to favorable response all over. What has made him suddenly wake up to action flicks? "I have been doing action movies for last so many years but somehow the kind of role where I could get my body in motion hasn't really come to me. I want to crack that now because I have the required physicality to carry such a role. My audience has been hungry to see a lot more of me after Dostana. Now I want to give them something so visually enthralling that they would love me even more", winks John. Does he want to reveal this secret project of his? Replies John, "All that I can reveal right now is that I am in talks with a couple of directors and there should be a decision on this soon. In any case, very soon I begin shooting for David Dhawan's Hook Ya Crook which is commercial cinema at its best. It is a huge large scale comedy that would keep me engaged from January till March. After this I begin work for Abbas Mustan's next which has the most beautiful script that I have read. The film's shooting would be during May to June timeframe. It would be only after these two films that my action flick would begin", details John. Meanwhile, he has just wrapped up his next with Yash Raj Films which is tentatively titled New York. The film is expected to arrive towards the latter part of the first half of 2009 though ever-so-secretive Yash Raj Films are yet to announce the exact timelines.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 20 Nov 2008 | 4:09 pm Dostana renamed as Toast Khana?Ooops... Amul has done it again! We are indeed talking about the mouth-watering and oooooh-so-yummylicious ads of the milk major Amul which has got its looks studded (read 'spreaded') on Bollywood! After having reached out to people through their recent ads like their take on Singh Is Kinng, and 'market positions' of Aamir, SRK and Akshay Kumar, now comes the yummiest of them all. Needles to say that, their latest take is on the 'happy and gay' hit film of the season, Dostana, starring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra. The recent ad has the 'trio' of Abhishek, John and Priyanka at their 'lying best' with the tagline 'Toast Khana'. Isn't that delicious friends! What's missing in this is the tagline that always accompanies the creative headline. We do not know if we are at the liberty of telling you this, but, the ad without the tagline looks like bread without butter! If we had it our way, then, we would have tagged it as 'Toast Khana'... the slice of friendship! Tagline or no tagline, the ad is super -brilliant as usual! Just keep the good work spreading...we mean... rolling!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 20 Nov 2008 | 4:08 pm 'Stealing' memories of the cast of Oye Lucky, Lucky OyeClick above for more movie stills 'He who steals an egg will steal an ox' goes a popular saying. And who better than the Dream Merchants of Bollywood can give 'shape' to these sayings! The latest one is director Dibakar Banerjee, whose first film was based on Delhi's infamous landlord mafia and likes, and whose next is based on thieves titled Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye. It's a film that has the distinct Delhi flavor to it. Strange as it may sound, but then, the fact remains that this film is about a Delhi based thief who steal things not for money, and that too out of passion! And while shooting for the film, everyone got nostalgic about their early memories of stealing as a kid.... Abhay Deol, who also plays the title character of Lucky, remembered stealing toys from his cousins and said, "I used to steal toys from Bobby because he used to play with these really good looking cars which I used to admire a lot. I don't remember stealing money because whenever I required it, I used to take it from Bobby and he never refused me." Joining him was his on-screen heroine Neetu Chandra, who vividly remembered stealing chewing gums as a child from her friend's bag. She said, "I have this huge love for chewing gums. I used to steal chewing gums from my friend's bag. In fact till now I steal them on sets if I come to know they have one and I am really proud of that." Well, with these two in tow, how can the film's director be far behind! The director, Dibakar Banerjee, confessed that as a kid, he used to steal coins from his best friend's coin collection and adding those to his own collection. Looking back in time, he recalled, "My best friend had this huge collection of coins from all over the world and my collection was no where near him, so I once stole few coins from his collection and added them to mine. I know what I did was very bad but, I did that as a kid." Paresh, on his part said that he does not remember stealing anything as a child but he sure does have a desire to steal something.
