The Awards were presented on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on November 11, 2008, with more than 700 film industry luminaries from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the United States attending the ceremony. The FIAPF Award is determined by FIAPF, the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, and awarded to an individual for outstanding achievement in films in the Asia-Pacific region. In presenting the Award, President of FIAP, Mr Andrés Vincente Gomez, described Mr. Chopra as "a legend in Hindi cinema who has played a seminal role in making Indian films more popular the world over." "Mr Chopra has also played a pioneering role in modernising the local industry and putting it on a more contemporary corporate footing," Mr Gomez continued. Last year's inaugural FIAPF Award was presented to Australian producer and director George Miller. The Asia Pacific Screen Awards is collaboration between CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF - International Federation of Film Producers Associations and is an international cultural initiative of the Queensland Government, Australia, to acclaim films that best reflect their cultural origins and demonstrate cinematic excellence. Commenting on the award, Mr. Chopra said, "It is a great honour to receive this award endorsed as it is by such respected names as CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF. Our films have always shown a strong commitment to family values and have been rooted in Indian culture and I believe that this award is a recognition of that fact. In addition, we have over the last few years developed a strong relationship with the beautiful country of Australia and that makes this award even sweeter. Finally, I believe the award recognizes that our films have touched hearts in countries across the Asia-Pacific region, even while maintaining high levels of cinematic excellence, and that gives me - and all of us at Yash Raj Films - deep satisfaction and joy."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Nov 2008 | 3:26 pm Adah Sharma shoots in London for Vikram Bhatt's PhirFew actresses enjoy the kind of success Adah Sharma saw in her debut film 1920, a horror flick directed by Vikram Bhatt shot extensively in Yorkshire, UK. Touted as the Hindi Film Industry's youngest and cutest faces around, she is currently cold. That's because she is again shooting in five degrees of chilly, windy and rainy weather conditions of the U.K for her second film titled Phir with co-star Rajneesh Duggal. The only difference is that the film is not directed by Vikram Bhatt, he is only producing it. The person in the director's chair is going to be Girish Dhamija. So what is Adah up to in New Castle? To find out more, we got in touch with the actress who was busy on the sets of her latest film, eating U.K's favourite jacket potatoes with beans and cheese with a glass of orange juice. "I am a vegetarian and the only food available at this time for me was a jacket potato. But because it is so cold here, this dish comes piping hot, and every half an hour I have a glass of hot water as I don't have any tea or coffee. Actually I am now used to all this as I've been in this routine since 1920", she says humorously. So while having her lunch, the actress was touched by couple of incidents which she witnessed. No wonder she sounded excited, "I love animals and seeing these huge horses with their legs as big as my height is pretty impressive. There was a big fat white cat here who was completely drenched in the rain. So I gave her some milk. Quickly responding to my sweet gesture she came next to my boots and sat down. She even started playing hide-n-seek with me. Every time I tried to find her she used to go behind the car." Having worked with the director and her co-actor the actress also shares her second time company with the United Kingdom. How very strange? "Yes it is. It's strange to know that I am the only actress who has shot her first two films in the U.K and not in India", Adah replies. But even strange is the fact that though she is getting used to the food she is still not getting used to the unpredictable weather of the country, to which the petite actress comments, "I've arrived since a week in the U.K and the weather is driving me mad. The day we landed at the airport, it was cold and windy. We've got the majority of our film shoot in New Castle which is up North of England and on our first day of the shoot it was raining, then one day the temperature was mild, then the next day is sunny and today it's freezing. We had to shoot in one of the castles for four days but that too got delayed." A moaning Adah Sharma. On top of that, a bad weather. So is her next film Phir a horror flick too? She laughs and answers "No not again. Don't worry. I won't scare you this time. Phir is a pacy thriller drama but that's all I can reveal as of now." Interestingly, Adah is so busy with her schedule this time around that she cannot even invite her good friend who stays in London to meet her all the way to New Castle. "My friend wants to book her train tickets to come and meet me but because I am so busy and can't commit to her, I don't want to give false promises". In the days to come, Adah will only get busier, what with the action sequences still to be shot and some dance numbers, but the actress did take some time out to send Bollywood Hungama some exclusive pictures of her from the film. What's unique is that the outfits of Phir are hand picked by Vikram Bhatt himself. Reveals the actress, "Yes, it's true. Vikram sir has done the outfits for the film. He personally shopped for everyone from London. He had a very clear look for Phir in his mind and I am open to trying any new look in this film too". So what's the new look of Adah Sharma going to be like? I bet the same people who had their eyes wide shut while watching 1920 will have their eyes wide open this time around while watching Phir. "My look in the film is really grungy yet very interesting. Loose oversized jackets with skirts and boots. The colour combo also is very unusual. Brown boots, red muffler, purple skirt, violet stockings, grey top and blue-green overcoat". Well, with so many colours added to her outfits, we hope that Adah Sharma and her team come out with flying colours after the release of Phir. And of course, good luck with the weather and jacket potatoes Adah! Hope both keep you as hot as your pics above.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 13 Nov 2008 | 2:51 pm Anil Kapoor is autistic in YuvvraajClick above for more movie stills Being autistic is almost like the crest of being artistic. Hrithik Roshan did the autistic act with National award winning elan in Koi Mil Gaya. And just as we heard of Shah Rukh Khan turning autistic for his role as the isolated Muslim in New York in Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan, comes the news that Anil Kapoor will be seen playing an autistic character in Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj. Says a source, "Anil plays elder brother to Salman and Zayed Khan. Subhash Ghai had been meaning to incorporate a physically-psychologically challenged character into his script for a long time. It was Anil who told Subhashji the story idea for Yuvvraaj." Apparently, Raj Kapoor at one time wanted to make a similar film written for him by his long-term collaborator Jainendra Jain. Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Anil Kapoor is playing an autistic character. In K Vishwanath's Eeshwar twenty years ago, Anil was cast as a 'slow' saintly man (this was the closest we came to describing autism in those days) who wins over the village widow. Anil has self admittedly copied Raj Kapoor in Eeshwar. If sources are to be believed, Anil's reference point in Yuvvraaj is Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump. Other screen heroes to suffer psychological disorders include Sanjeev Kumar in Anhonee and Khilona, Jeetendra in Jyoti and Amol Palekar in Solva Sawan.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Nov 2008 | 12:38 pm "I'll be partying with relatives, close friends and Priyanka of course" - Harman BawejaOn Thursday, it's pretty much a family birthday for Harman who has lately become quite a hermit. "Fortunately, I'm back in Mumbai after a very long time. I've been shooting for my two films It's My Life and Victory in various parts of the world. I quite often got homesick. I did invite my sister Rowena to join me once in a while. But on the whole, I liked being on my own. It gave me a chance to think about my life." The past one year has been a learning experience for Harman. "I've learnt to loosen up. I don't feel that tension of having to deliver my first film. Now I'm far more relaxed. I've almost completed two films. I've just started shooting Ashutosh Gowarikar's What's Your Raashee. Then there's Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production Chenaab Gandhi with Mr Bachchan and Vidya Balan. That's it. I haven't signed any more films. All I have agreed to is a film for my father at the end of next year. No other script has me kicked. I'd like to do a young action film. That's my birthday wish." Travel-saturated Harman isn't weary. "There has been no time to get jetlagged. I've just been living out of suitcases, numbed with fatigue. On top of that, last week I hit my head against an iron pillar. For a minute the world came to a standstill. When I regained my senses I couldn't move my head." Harman had to go through a series of tests to make sure he was internally intact. "Actually it was a good way to bring in my birthday. I needed that knock on my head. I'm 28 now and I told myself, 'Dude, about time you grew up.' I guess the past year has opened many doors and windows in my life." Now there's the birthday to look forward to. "Fortunately, a whole lot of my relatives are in town. So it'll be a party with my relatives and close friends. And yes, Priyanka definitely falls in the category of close friends."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Nov 2008 | 12:10 pm Birthday boy Harman Baweja wants to do action filmHarman Baweja, who turned 28 Thursday, says he's happy with the films in his kitty and his birthday wish is to do an action film.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 13 Nov 2008 | 11:30 am Dharma Productions compensates PNC for a song used in DostanaDownload Dostana wallpapers Just 3 days before the release of Dostana, its makers Dharma Productions received a little bit of a scare when PNC (Pritish Nandy Communications) filed a case against them for using one of their songs 'Kuch Kum' in Dostana. Apparently, the story goes that, the song 'Kuch Kum' was originally composed by Vishal-Shekhar for a film which was to be directed by Tarun Mansukhani for the PNC banner. However, the film never took off and Tarun went on to direct Dharma Productions' Dostana. When Pritish Nandy heard the song featured in Dostana, he was quite livid and raised an objection with the makers - Dharma Productions. However, rather than getting into unnecessary legal tangles, the parties decided to resolve the issue mutually in an out of the court settlement. Eventually, Dharma Productions compensated PNC by paying them Rs.3 crores for just that one song. While Pritish Nandy must be a relieved man having got his due, the people at Dharma Productions must be surely pondering over this (suddenly turned) expensive song.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Nov 2008 | 11:14 am What's the soap tonight?
