Today Is Mayor Bloomberg’s Big Day

Photo: Getty Images

After a judge yesterday ruled that Christine Quinn's vote in City Council over term limits should go forward today, the 51 members will have to finally publicly pick sides today over whether they, and Mayor Bloomberg, should be able to run for another four years in office. According to the Daily News, so far 18 council members are on record in favor of extending term limits, and 23 are already publicly opposed. That leaves ten undecided, with three leaning toward keeping term limits as they are. Since 26 votes are needed to pass the mayor's bill, it's going to be a tight squeeze. Because of that, Bloomberg's been, well, squeezing a bunch of council members and supporters. According to the Times, this has been rubbing a lot of people the wrong way, which is why Quinn (his supporter) wanted to rush this vote.

Meanwhile, Councilmen David Yassky, Alan Gerson, and Gale Brewer hope to introduce an amendment to the mayor's proposal that would seek out a public referendum on the issue, basically nullifying today's vote. It will be introduced so late that it didn't have a chance to get on the already-printed bill. As an amendment, it will be considered before the bill itself this afternoon before the full council. This is how history happens, people. Fast, awkward, contentious, and never with enough printer paper.

It Was Inevitable: ‘Radar’ Creates Woody Allen–Sarah Palin Mash-up

Ever wonder why, when Woody Allen is stubborn, nonsensical, inarticulate, incompetent, and infuriating, it's somehow both hilarious and adorable, but when Sarah Palin does it, it's somehow both hilarious and terrifying? Well, Radar was wondering that, too. So they composed a trailer for what the movie Woody Palin would be like. Turns out, it's just as delightful and irreverent as the rest of Allen's movies! Except with decidedly more bright colors and LensCrafters product placement, and less Scarlett Johansson.

Leitch: Ten Signs It Might Be Safe to Believe in the Knicks Again

Coach!
Photo: Getty Images

The Knicks are a mere five games six days away from their season opener (at the Garden next Wednesday against the Miami Heat) — can you feel the excitement? Maybe? As much of a relief as Isiah Thomas being (kind of) fired was, coach Mike D’Antoni isn’t likely to bring a particularly joyous season, either. But baby steps are fine. The disastrous last five years will probably take another five years to recover from (at least). But hey: We’re optimists. Every season over these last few years, we've searched for reasons why the Knicks might rally. And despite the fact that most experts are predicting more pain, we’ve put together the following list: Ten Signs It Might Be Safe to Believe in the Knicks Again. They’re likely to disappoint, but what, are you gonna start rooting for the Nets?

1. They’re Playing an Entirely New Offense. D’Antoni’s Seven Seconds or Less credo perfectly fit the personnel in Phoenix, and even though it’s hardly ideal here, it will at least be enjoyable to watch. In the preseason loss to Boston on Tuesday night, D’Antoni started Stephon Marbury at small forward. It’s a terrible idea, but D’Antoni had to try it, because he has to try something. Get ready for point guard Zach Randolph.

2. The Fat Guy Is Getting Benched. Eddy Curry was supposed to be the franchise center that salvaged Isiah’s tenure, but, as usual, Isiah was years behind the times. The league no longer revolves around fat guys in the lane (Shaq, great as he is, has completely ruined the fun of those old Suns teams), and Curry would seem to have no place in D’Antoni’s rotation. Curry didn’t even play in Tuesday’s exhibition game. This is progress.

3. Zach Randolph Woke Up. Somehow — perhaps because no one wanted him — the Knicks were unable to deal the oafish “power” forward in the off-season. But this preseason, he actually appears to be hustling. Considering how little the Knicks expect from him, and the fact that he’ll no longer be paired with Curry (an arrangement that made both players worse), anything he brings in 2008–09 is found money.

4. They Have a Less Selfish Point Guard. The Knicks brought in Chris Duhon in the off-season because he likes to run and hates to shoot. This makes him the polar opposite of Stephon Marbury. (Though they seem to share an affinity for the nightlife.) Duhon will not wow anyone, but he will run the point guard like a normal human being, and he plays solid defense. Be prepared for many five-point, fourteen-assist games.

5. The Rook. The Knicks had their highest draft pick in 22 years (Kenny “Sky” Walker was it in 1986), Italian 20-year-old Danilo Gallinari. (Though his nickname — “The Rooster” — is much lamer than “Sky.”) He’s having back problems and won’t be up to full speed for a couple of months, but who was the last Knicks prospect worth watching and talking about? Maciej Lampe? Eric Chenowith?

6. Plenty of David Lee. The “fan favorite” — as much as any Knick can be a “fan favorite” — is receiving a vastly overdue promotion to the starting lineup this year. He’s as solid a rebounder as you’ll find in the Eastern Conference, which is good, because the Knicks will be putting up and missing lots of shots.

7. Quentin Richardson Might Remember He Walks Upright. Richardson — who once, if you can believe it, averaged nearly eighteen points a game — had one of his best seasons playing for D’Antoni in 2004–05. (He was so good that the Knicks grabbed him — then watched him atrophy.) Richardson can’t be nearly as bad a player as he was last year, and maybe being around D’Antoni will revive him. Maybe. Probably not, but maybe.

8. Star. Bury. Amazingly, stupendously, Stephon Marbury is still a New York Knick. The team tried everything short of moving the Garden to Staten Island without telling him to get rid of the guy, but, doggone it, he’s still here. So now what? Well, he won’t be in the starting lineup, and the minute he so much as sneezes, D’Antoni will deposit him next to Curry on the bench … but while it’s difficult to remember, there was a time when Marbury was considered a talented player. (He was on the 2004 Olympic team, for crying out loud.) He’s assuredly going to be more harm than help, but at least he'll be entertaining.

9. Following Them Won't Be So Painful. By the end of last season, Knicks beat writers were describing the job of covering the team as “hell on earth.” (In May, Knicks games were averaging about two paragraphs of coverage in the tabloids.) D’Antoni and Donnie Walsh are not as insane as Isiah, so everyone’s having more fun this year. And hey, fans, you might not even get thrown out of the Garden for holding up a sign that’s negative about the team. As we said: Baby steps.

10. Isiah Is Unlikely to Be Allowed in the Building. Isiah Thomas is still getting paid, but it's to stay far, far away. No matter what happens, this is the season’s most positive development. Even if the Knicks lose every game, this year is already a success.

Celebrities Say It’s Okay to Dress Like a Slut on Halloween

Kate Schelter
Photo: Getty Images

With Halloween coming up faster than the election, every woman must make a very personal decision. To slut? Or not to slut? When putting together her costume, that is. After season upon season of one slutty Snow White after the other, has the trend finally gotten old? Will it ever get old? According to celebrities at the opening party of the Chanel Mobile Art exhibit in Central Park last night, the answer is no! "Whatever anyone wants to dress up for Halloween — I don't care, it's fine. If a girl finds the need to do it, let her do it, man!" said Albert Hammond Jr. Jackie Astier also said the slut parade should march onward. "If you want to dress like a slut, dress like a slut. Madonna dresses like a slut, and she looks great." Peter Davis chimed in: "Maybe the cutoff age is 50 to dress like a slut. You should stop when you turn 51." And Kate Schelter said she plans to dress up as the same thing she is every year. "Jane Fonda meets Olivia Newton John 'Let's Get Physical.' Hot pink, fuchsia, leotard, spandex pants, Gucci headband, metallic belt, high heels, leg warmers. Fuchsia nails out to here," she said, adding she's fine with girls who dress like sluts. "I think that women should dress that way every day. Why wait for one day a year? Although, disclaimer — I wait to be Jane Fonda one day a year. It's more like an alter ego. It's not like I'm waiting to wear a miniskirt or something," she said. "I wear a miniskirt every day — who cares? I'm wearing a fucking, whatever, a pantsuit tonight." So hear that, ladies? Get your finest push-up bra ready and let loose the cusp of your rear where ass meets thigh. It's Halloween, and the celebrities said so.

Cathy Horyn’s Brush With the Famous Fall ’08 Balenciaga Dress

Photo-illustration: Getty Images, imaxtree

Cathy Horyn wrote a lovely blog post about how wonderful it was to try on the Balenciaga dress you see at left, perhaps the most famous look of the fall 2008 season.

On Sunday afternoon I received a call from the Barneys women’s buying office saying my black Balenciaga dress was in. It was heartening to know in these difficult times that somebody wanted to make a sale … I was curious to see and touch it. Owning the dress wasn’t necessarily the objective.

She didn't end up buying the dress because it was too tight but says it was extremely flattering otherwise. So she left it in the store for "someone else to try and maybe buy." We guess someone snatched it up, because when we called Barneys this afternoon, the saleswoman said they were completely out of the dress, asserting they sold out at the trunk show, which was held months ago. This is why it's good to be Cathy Horyn: When she goes to the store with a picture of her favorite impossible-to-get dress, the buying office orders it for her and calls her on a Sunday about it. Granted, Balenciaga might not have any dresses left now since filling fall orders is so last season and they're working on getting resort and spring clothes in stores. So, sorry, normal people! Your chance has passed. But do you have $4,000 lying around to spend on it anyway?

No Handbag Shrine at Sarah Jessica Parker’s House

Photo: Patrick McMullan

Chanel Mobile Art opened last night, an oversize tribute to the fashion house's long line of expensive handbags. Sarah Jessica Parker was in Central Park to appreciate the works, but doesn't think she'll try any handbag art on her own. "I’m not that creative," she told us. "I’m reverential of them, but I haven’t created any installations in my home out of them." Get more Chanel-inspired ideas from Karl Lagerfeld and others by viewing our Party Lines slideshow.

‘Times’ Lobby Reopens After Anthrax Scare

This morning, a secretary at the Times opened an envelope addressed to editorial-page editor Andrew Rosenthal and a "white granular substance" came flying out. Naturally, everyone freaked, remembering the anthrax scare of 2001; police were called, and the lobby was shut down for nearly four hours while authorities determined if the substance was toxic (it was not). The envelope, which was hand-addressed and had no return address, also contained a letter, one which probably explained the motivations of the sender — but according to spokeswoman Catherine Mathis, "to the best of my knowledge, no one from The Times read it" before handing it over to police. Arrgh. So! Since the reporters at the Times are apparently such wimps that they chose, like, safety over fulfilling our curiosity, we have no choice but to just randomly toss some guesses into the air about who the sender might have been, after the jump.

1. Judy Miller did it as a publicity stunt for her new job at Fox.
2. Rosenthal realized later that's where he had hidden those Smarties, but he was too embarrassed to say anything, especially since he's supposed to be off sugar.
3. An increasingly desperate and unhinged Steve Schmidt.
4. A person who lives in New Jersey and is crazy.

‘17 Again’ Trailer: Matthew Perry Lives the Dream; Zac Efron Wakes Up in a Nightmare

Tagline: "This is a chance to have my life over, but to do it right!"

Translation: AS ZAC MOTHERFUCKING EFRON!

The Verdict: Somewhat predictably, the most unbelievable thing about 17 Again isn't the film's wacky, done-before premise about a 37-year-old guy who falls through a wormhole that lets him reenter his 17-year-old body and go back to high school — it's that someone at New Line actually thought people would believe that Muppet-faced Friends actor Matthew Perry looked anything like Zac Efron in high school (he didn't!). Even so, we can't imagine this will be anything but a giant, Titanic-outgrossing success since what man alive hasn't fantasized about waking up as Zac Efron (or Vanessa Hudgens after we've had several drinks)? That said, we are NOT looking forward to the inevitably horrific ending in which Zac turns back into Matthew Perry.

How to Spend $150,000 at Saks and Neiman Marcus

Photo: Getty Images

When Sarah Palin traded up from her Naughty Monkey shoes, she traded up. According to financial records, the Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 on her clothes, accessories, hair, and makeup. Extravagant shopping sprees took place just after McCain announced her as his running mate, according to Politico:

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.

True, $150,000 is a lot of cash. Given the down-home hockey-mom role that Palin has been asked to play for the GOP, splashing out on Valentino is not smart purely from an image perspective. And she doesn't have to dress like a fashion editor.

However: Palin is arguably the most famous person in the world right now. She used to joke that her favorite designers were Patagonia and North Face, but they won't cut it on CNN. And after Hillary proved earlier in the year that female politicians will receive extra fashion scrutiny whether they like it or not, it's not surprising that Palin wants to look good. Remember that she's the poorest of the four politicians who are running. (Michelle Obama shops at H&M, true — but Michelle Obama isn't on the ticket.) Plus Palin's not getting any freebies from design houses, which typically support more liberal candidates.

Still, did she really need to spend that much money? We tried to figure out what Palin's shopping list might have looked like, after the jump.

Sarah Palin's Saks Fifth Avenue Shopping List:
Clothes:
Armani jacket $1,295, with matching pants, $575. Total: $1,350
MaxMara Sovrana cowl-neck jacket, $965, with matching skirt, $340. Total: $1,305
Donna Karan tweed jacket, $3,995, and matching skirt, $2,695. Total: $6,690
Ralph Lauren Collection cashmere turtleneck dress (to pair with a jacket), $2,498
Hosiery:
• Two pairs of Wolford tummy-control hose, $52 each. Total: $104
Shoes:
Salvatore Ferragamo Nerissa suede pumps, $750
Jimmy Choo Hallie knee-high boots, $1,195
GRAND TOTAL FOR FOUR OUTFIT POSSIBILITIES: $25,129 before tax.

Sarah Palin's Neiman Marcus Shopping List:
Clothes:
Eli Tahari contrast-stitch skirt suit, $498
Kay Unger New York three-button jacket, $240, paired with Kay Unger New York crêpe trousers, $175. Total: $415
Badgley Mischka Nikki military jacket, $578
Escada belted jacket, $1,490
Escada zip-front jacket, $1,850, paired with matching wool pencil skirt, $650. Total: $2,500
Outerwear:
Fleurette belted coat, $1,125
Fendi leather jacket (we know you're thinking she'd never wear Fendi, but this is subtle Fendi), $2,660
Valentino button coat, $5,590
Shoes:
Versace buckle-toe pump, $750
Yves Saint Laurent tall boot, $995

GRAND TOTAL FOR SIX OUTFIT POSSIBILITIES: $16,601 before tax

At those rates, with her remaining budget Palin could have purchased around four more outfits at Saks and around twenty more outfits at Neiman Marcus for a grand total of 34 outfits. Now, McCain picked Palin on August 29. That's 67 days of campaigning until November 4, so in theory she has enough clothes to repeat outfits just once, maybe twice as we get closer to Election Day — or, with smart mixing, maybe she doesn't need to repeat at all! After all, she's giving televised speeches daily and being photographed, so wearing repeats is a no-no. Look how much flack Anna Wintour gets for it.

In conclusion: A $150,000 clothes budget might not be the wisest use of campaign money. But given the demands of Palin's job, the figure is not as outrageous as it seems at first.

50 Cent Still Getting Acting Jobs for Some Crazy Reason

Following the torrent of critical acclaim for his role in Righteous Kill, 50 Cent is inexplicably still being cast in movies! And yet we're still excited about this one. Why? Because the original film has one of the most insane trailers ever and 50 will probably just get edited out of the final product anyway. [Variety]

Nastia Liukin’s ‘Gossip Girl’ Involves Chuck, Blair, and a Camera

Photo: Getty Images

We were so excited to run into Nastia Liukin (again) on the red carpet last night at the Us Weekly Young Hot Hollywood Party, because she had just happened to have filmed her cameo on Gossip Girl yesterday! She said she couldn't give us very many details, except that she was in a scene with Leighton and Ed. Yeah, because they're all on a first-name basis. "[It was] so much fun. I did it this morning and I got to meet Leighton and Ed, and they were the nicest people ever," she said, smiling. "I mean, you never know how celebrities will be, so we talked the whole time and got some pictures so it was so fun." OMG — she was in a scene with only Blair and Chuck?? If you don't know what that means, we'll give you a hint: It starts with a bet and it ends with "I'm Chuck Bass."

Artist Mary Heilmann Paints Little Boxes

Courtesy of the New Museum
Photo: Mary Heilmann's Neo Noir (1998).

Defiantly riffing on the rigorous abstractions of the fifties and sixties, New York–based painter Mary Heilmann cuts through the genre's occasional academicism with lush colors and a woozily applied impasto that suggest she's having a great, groovy time. In paintings like Neo Noir, hung in her current retrospective at the New Museum, Heilmann evokes both messy life and high art — it's like how Mondrian would have seen the city on a jittery walk home from a jazz club (after a toke too many). "Mary Heilmann: To Be Someone" is on view through January 26.

Go-Go a No-Go at Mark Ronson’s CMJ Showcase Featuring Wale

Photo: Michael Meyer

When Wale's backing band slid into a sultry riff from eighties slow-jam gem "Don't Disturb This Groove" last night at S.O.B.'s, they might have been trying to send the D.C. rapper a message. His headlining set had already zigzagged through a long-winded introduction from DJ Green Lantern, a cameo by fellow Washingtonian Tabi Bonney, a scratch routine, and some meandering a cappella verses from Wale himself — one of which ended with a pointed couplet: "I don't care, I got talent / Fuck John McCain and fuck Sarah Palin." As fans cheered, Wale encouraged the vice-presidential nominee to "go back to your igloo."

It was a rare straightforward moment during Mark Ronson's largely disjointed Allido Records showcase — a bill that featured Daniel Merriweather, the Rumble Strips, and Rhymefest. (Ronson, ever bespoke, was billed as the D.J. but only sauntered onstage once, to strum a guitar alongside Merriweather.) The night was Wale's for the taking, but he never summoned the easygoing playfulness that marks his mix tapes. His backing troupe — Uncalled 4 Band, the renowned D.C. go-go squad whose "Don't Disturb This Groove" interpolation "Sexy Lady" has been a staple on D.C. radio for the past few years — gave the rapper a huge boost during "W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.," transposing Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." into a hammering go-go anthem. For the second verse, Wale slowed things down to a syrupy crawl that go-go fans know as the pocket. It was utterly righteous, and to the audience, somewhat perplexing — you could practically see the cartoon question marks blooming over their heads. "Y'all fuck with go-go music?" Wale later asked to tepid applause. "'Cause it's about to be a new day!" Apparently it isn't, not quite yet.

Dean Campaign Officials Don’t Quite Remember Charles O’Byrne

Photo: AP

In 2004, while he was suffering from his non-tax-paying, clinical depression, David Paterson's chief of staff, Charles O'Byrne, worked as a speechwriter for Howard Dean's presidential campaign. Or at least that's the job he says he had with the former Vermont governor, according to numerous press reports. Two senior campaign workers, however, say they don't recall O'Byrne writing speeches for Dean. Joe Trippi, who was campaign manager, says he remembers O'Byrne was "involved" with the Dean operation but doesn't know what his responsibilities were. Dean's policy director, Jeremy Ben-Ami, looking at a photograph of O'Byrne on the Website of the New York Times, says he can't place the face at all. "The name doesn't ring a bell," he says. "I've never seen him before in my life. He wasn't speechwriting for Governor Dean. I can say that pretty definitively."

Could the Awful Cover of ‘Chinese Democracy’ Cause Another Delay?

Photo: Courtesy of Geffen

This morning, the world finally got its first Axl-sanctioned taste of Chinese Democracy, the Guns N' Roses album that's been in the making since before man learned to walk upright. And now there's even a press release confirming the album's official release on November 23 at a Best Buy near you. But would anyone really be surprised if Axl decided it wasn't yet done and scrapped the whole thing, delaying Democracy for several more decades? Of course not! And now, right on cue, comes a hilarious, now-retracted item on EW's Website in which it's implied that band manager Andy Gould thinks the album's cover could still pose a problem:

With less than a month to go until fans can judge the final product for themselves (pending approval of the album's artwork, which, Gould hinted, could have its own complications), the anticipation — and pressure — is most certainly high.

As has already been pointed out by anyone who's seen it, the current working cover that's been posted on Best Buy's Website is indeed atrocious, and it would really sort of be a shame if Axl were forced to rush something out that he wasn't completely happy with.

Meet the New Girl: Ataui Deng

Looking at Ataui Deng you probably immediately think Alek Wek. That's because this 17-year-old is Alek's niece! And she's already making quite an impression. Born in Sudan, Deng came to New York from Texas just weeks before New York Fashion week and signed with Trump Model Management. Then she went directly into fittings for Proenza Schouler and Zac Posen. But when Fashion Week ended in New York, Deng flew back to Texas to finish off her semester at high school, skipping Fashion Weeks in Europe. But those select appearances were enough to make an impression on Steven Meisel, who personally requested to see the stunner for himself. We hear V magazine is requesting her for spreads, too. Turns out Alek isn't the only one in her family graced with model genes.

‘Fringe’: Strange Acting Virus Infects Star

Photo: Courtesy of Fox

Woo boy, there sure is a lot of “serious” acting this episode, mostly courtesy of Anna Torv, the humorless Agent Dunham. We're supposed to learn an important element to her troubled character’s backstory, but what we realized is that when the show focuses on the blonde lady, it makes for a long hour of television.

The Evil: A disoriented woman winds up in a diner after being dumped out of a truck. Freaking out about what “they” did to her, she somehow causes all the other patrons to start bleeding from the eyes. For a grand finale, her head explodes.

The Determination: A pharmaceutical company kidnapped the woman because she suffered from a rare incurable disease that it could use to turn her into a human time bomb. Now the company, run by Whit Stillman alum Chris Eigeman, plans to continue its experiments on another kidnapped woman afflicted with the disease.

Intel on Massive Dynamic: Looking for a clue to where the pharmaceutical company’s new human guinea pig could be, Peter Bishop visits Nina Sharp, who informs him that she and his father were “quite close when we were both much younger.” So we’re now supposed to wonder if they, y’know, did it. Earlier, Peter had told Dunham that he’s worried the amount of recent cases involving the Pattern could mean that “somebody’s preparing for something.”

Wacky Factor: We learned much about Walter. He hums in a really annoying way. He still can’t remember his assistant Astrid’s name. He goes to sleep by calculating pi. He always uses Peter’s toothbrush by mistake. He farts. Gross — who uses somebody else’s toothbrush?

Paranoia Level: High. This big dramatic showcase — Dunham battling the memories of her abusive stepfather (on her birthday, even) while fighting to rescue the imprisoned woman — is an overacting nightmare as Torv shakily attempts to connect her character’s avenging-angel attitude with her step-daddy issues. Worse is the pseudo-feminist vibe when Dunham explains to her male boss that she can’t leave her emotions out of her cases because, damn it, her emotions make her a better agent. It’s sort of cute how Fringe occasionally pretends that it’s more than just a freak show. But if they’re going to focus on a character, it should be Walter — though we shudder to think how his flatulence will factor into the plot.

Lindsay Lohan Walks at Charlotte Ronson’s Japan Show

Charlotte Ronson and Lindsay Lohan strut the catwalk.

Lindsay Lohan showed up with Samantha Ronson to Charlotte Ronson's runway show in Japan today. And if that isn't exciting enough, Charlotte pulled her on the runway for her final lap. The audience went wild, if wild can be expressed in a calm, reserved way through large giddy smiles. Just look at that girl with the digicam on the right! She's about to burst with tingly LiLo excitement! What's more impressive, however, is the incredible group effort of self-restraint. In no way did they rush the stage and mob her like at New York Fashion Week. (Remember, that's the exact reason Alexander Wang didn't allow her in, either?) Props to you, calm, well-behaved Japanese audience. You know that would never go down in New York.

The Ghostbusters Finally Return — in Manga Form!

Illustration: Courtesy of Tokyopop

Here at Vulture, we've made no secret of our love for Ghostbusters and our fervent desire for a new addition to the series, we hope starring McLovin as Louis Tully Jr. Apparently our increasingly giddy Ghostbusters 3 coverage has at least gotten the attention of manga publisher Tokyopop, who leaped into the ectoplasmic void this month with the publication of Ghost Busted, a collection of manga-ized Ghostbusters stories. Sure, it's a licensed-property comic — not usually the home of innovative work — but it's also really funny, and a great way to sate your Venkman jones until Seth Rogen finally makes up his mind about the long-awaited Ghostbusters 3.

On today's Comics Page, we're happy to present an excerpt from Matt Yamashita and Maximo Lorenzo's "The Theater of Pain," a story from Ghostbusters: Ghost Busted, a new manga collection out now from Tokyopop.

Diane Von Furstenberg Probably Won’t Appear on ‘The City’ Very Much

Whitney Port
Photo: Getty Images

Whitney Port has been working at Diane Von Furstenberg as part of her new Hills spinoff show, The City. But Diane didn't even appear in the 1:37 preview of the show MTV just released. So does Whitney work with her at all? She told us at the Us Weekly Young Hot Hollywood party that she worked with her shortly backstage at Fashion Week. "I dressed the models backstage, helping with stylists on all the dressing and worked with Diane for about five minutes while the models went on the runway," she said. "It was so surreal." Wow, five whole minutes! "I didn't really get to talk to her much, but I'm sure I will soon enough," she added. We sure hope Diane gets more than twenty seconds of airtime. Port said that as she muddles her way through the crazy world of fashion, she still receives guidance from ex-boss Kelly Cutrone. We guess Diane's not going to fill her shoes.
