Tabu on the cover of M

She is back and how! Last time she was seen romancing a man who was elder then even her father! We are indeed talking about Tabassum Fatima Hashmi! For starters, she is more popularly known as Tabu, who was last seen in Cheeni Kum in which she was paired opposite none other than the Big B! And then Madame Tabu did the vanishing act, only to resurface again, this time as the cover-girl of the popular magazine 'M'. One needs to give a hi-5 to the brains behind this issue of 'M'. Not just the cover looks exceptional, but also the inside text makes us believe that Tabu is definitely the girl next door! In this issue, Tabu talks about 'The early years', whereby she was always a big child - very chubby and over weight! Guess how many of you knew that! Frankly speaking, we just did not! Moving ahead, Tabu also speaks about the transition from being normal girl till stepping into showbiz, courtesy Dev Anand spotting her and eventually casting her too in his film! We tell you readers that simply dig into this issue, if you want to really dig into Tabu's life. This issue also carries (in Tabu's words) her thoughts on winning her first National Award, having more male friends than females, on her being a private person etc... we would have loved to tell you the whole story. If we do so, then, there will be no fun in buying 'M'! Hence, look no further; simply rush to your nearest book store, and needless to say...simply ask for 'M' and discover the real Tabu!

Akshay Kumar to play the lead role in 'Komagata Maru'

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will play the lead role in Deepa Mehta's upcoming project 'Komagata Maru' which is based on a true-life voyage of an ill-fated passenger ship from India to Vancouver. Hundreds of Indian passengers who boarded the 'Komagata Maru' ship in 1914 on a voyage to Vancouver were not allowed to enter Canada on discriminatory grounds. The Dominion government did not permit passengers to disembark due to racist immigration laws and the vessel remained docked at the harbour for two months.

Why Shilpa was missing from 'Bigg Boss 2' last week

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty was surprisingly missing as host of the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss 2' last week. The glamorous actress said that she couldn't shoot for the episode due to the three-day strike by cinema and television workers. While other film folk just stayed away from the studios, Shilpa, who was unaware of the strike, flew from Singapore to Mumbai and drove all the way to Karjat (on the outskirts of Mumbai) on October 3 for the shooting, only to find herself caught in a peculiar situation.

Mona 'Jassi' Singh signed up by Raj Kumar Hirani for 3 Idiots

'Jassi' Mona Singh turned 27 on Wednesday and she had a lot of reason to celebrate. She has just been signed by Raj Kumar Hirani for a pivotal role in 3 Idiots. Apparently, she has a track totally separate from the Aamir-Kareena one and also not featured in Chetan Bhagat's novel. When contacted Mona who celebrates her birthday with her mother, is surprised. ''How do you know about this? Ya, I am doing Raj Kumar Hirani's film. And I couldn't have hoped for a better birthday gift. What do I play? All I can tell you is, I don't play one of the idiots. I play the sayaani (wise) character, ha ha." Mona had to wait excruciatingly long for her movie debut. "A couple of projects that were meant to happen never did. But I'm glad Raju Hirani signed me. It's a fabulous role." In the meanwhile Mona Singh is enjoying her stint on television as a dancer on Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena where she partners cricketer Harbhajan Singh. "In fact Bhajji was one of the first to wish me on my birthday. We've become very close buddies. I think it's the Punjabi connection. He has a reputation for being hotheaded. I've quite a temper myself. So we're fine with one another." Mona has been guiding Bhajji with his dance steps. "I've almost become his choreographer. He completely depends on me to see me through." This may be the last dance show for Mona in a while. And what about shaadi to boyfriend Karan Oberoi? "I don't want to get married right now. I think I've just left Jassi behind. My career has just started."

"Sorry Bhai is confirmed for 28th November" - Onir

August-September 2008 has been the best time for Bollywood when it comes to a string of successful films that it has witnessed week after week. Singh Is Kinng, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Phoonk, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Rock On, A Wednesday, 1920, Welcome To Sajjanpur - going couldn't have been better for the industry. What is also notable is the fact that except for Singh Is Kinng and Bachna Ae Haseeno, each of the remaining films has been a) medium budget affair and b) boasted of an unconventional subject. No wonder, Onir is ecstatic about the prospects of his latest film Sorry Bhai. 'With audiences looking forward to grabbing different subjects that have a new story to tell and are not necessarily running after star studded affairs, this seems to be just the best time for a movie like Sorry Bhai to arrive', he believes. "This is why I am relatively relaxed when it comes to Sorry Bhai. It has been a great time for Bollywood. Audience is so receptive to all kind of subjects, if told well. In any case, with Sorry Bhai, I move out of that so-called serious cinema tag that has been bestowed upon me. After My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal, audience had gone back home with a heavy heart. However, it would be a different experience for them as Sorry Bhai is a feel good entertainer and I am sure they would go back smiling", laughs Onir. Getting serious, he maintains though that Sorry Bhai would boast of a sensibility of its own. "I can't make frivolous cinema; it has to have some standing of it's own at the least", says Onir, "And I am glad that I have a bunch of superb actors working in. From Boman Irani to Shabana Azmi to Sanjay, Sharman and Chitrangada - I am glad that they all have come under one roof for Sorry Bhai. I have been spoilt with the experience", says Onir in a nostalgic tone. Mumbai Mantra, a Company sponsored by the Mahindra Group, has entered into a joint venture with Vashu Bhagnani for Puja Films. "They have good promotional plans for Sorry Bhai and I am happy with their approach towards Sorry Bhai. The film is confirmed for 28th November release. We should be beginning promotion of the film late October and would look at an intense four weeks campaign", concludes Onir.

Eesha Koppikhar not interested in Hello?

It has been quite some journey for Hello which is finally making it to the theaters. However, there seems to be trouble in paradise for the film. The issue? Apparently, Eesha Koppikhar, who plays an integral part of the film, hasn't been keen in pushing the film and has been missing from the promotional activities. Worse, she hasn't been talking about the film much and has had her focus being diverted towards Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, a film which she rightly believes is her big ticket in Bollywood. Confirms a source close to the film, "Eesha has just lost interest in Hello. In fact that has been quite a heartburn for everyone since each of them has worked so hard on the film. Now that the film is finally releasing on theaters, Eesha's unwillingness to be a part of the promotional events has baffled everyone." "Just recently, she missed out on being at a couple of events where Hello was being promoted. Possibly there is some kind of insecurity that she got into since Hello is a multi starrer and there are two more leading ladies - Gul Panag and Amrita Arora - in it", says the source who didn't wish to be named. Apparentl,y Gul Panag has been pretty gung-ho about the film and has been painting the town red with her support for the film. Surprisingly, the male leads - Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi and Arbaaz Khan - haven't been much heard either. "For Gul this is an important film and those who have seen the movie have been stunned by her performance. As Priyanka Kapoor, she is the most glamorous thing about the film, apart from Salman Khan of course (who is in a special appearance) because Amrita Arora has herself admitted that for the first time she would be seen in a non-glam role. Naturally, Gul is going all out in promoting the film since she believes that it is 'her' film", the source adds. How is Atul Agnihotri, the film's director, reacting to the situation? "He is just keeping a dignified self and is being quite about the whole affair. It is a crucial project for him, especially due to the earlier debacle of Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahan, and doesn't want any controversy. More than stars talking about the film, what he wants is the audience response to Hello. He knows that he has made the film well and believes that just like so many movies in the recent past, his Hello too would grow with word of mouth and sail through", concludes the source.

Wishing Rekha a very Happy Birthday

Ok…let's do this exercise …quickly pick up the dictionary and search for the synonyms of the word 'gorgeous '. We are sure that the answers will range from words like 'beautiful', 'stunning', 'elegant', 'attractive', 'lovely' etc… Having done that, now search for the synonyms of 'Rekha'. We bet that there will be no synonym/s to describe this ageless Diva. In other words, even the dictionary would fall short of words to describe Rekha, who celebrates her Birthday today. (Please do not ask us her age, as Divas like Rekha only grow younger every year!). Having said 'Cheese' to the Bollywood quite early in life, she went on to grace films that have been hugely responsible for giving Bollywood its international identity. For all those who have always yearned to wish this lady, Bollywood Hungama gives you the chance that you thought was never possible. Simply post your 'Happy Birthday' wishes below and you never know…today could just be your lucky day!
