Pas de Deux Opens in the East Village

As Fashion Week ended, Odin’s womenswear counterpart and new neighbor quietly opened in the East Village. Finally! The 500-square-foot boutique is arranged similarly to Odin, with racks and tall shelves filled with clothing, shoes, accessories, and fragrances lining both sides of the long, narrow space. But this sister store has a decidedly and appropriately lighter, more feminine vibe. The checkerboard-tiled floor, blue-gray wallpaper, antique-inspired furniture, and chandeliers are modeled after a Parisian boutique. But the shop's real draw is its drool-worthy lineup of designers, offering apparel from bold names like 3.1 phillip lim, Alexander Wang, Karen Walker, Diana Orving, Vena Cava, and Coventry and Clu, with accessories by Philip Crangi, Scosha, Comme des Garçons, Boyy, Repetto, and Loeffler Randall. Thank God Fashion Week is over and we finally have time to go shopping. See more images after the jump.

Pas de Deux, 328 E. 11th St., nr. Second Ave.; 212-475-0666 (Odin)

Holy Effing Crap: Wall Street in Flames

Lehman CEO Richard Fuld, Bank of America's Ken Lewis, Merrill Lynch's John Thain
Photo: Getty Images

Maybe you spent your weekend sweltering at an end-of-summer wedding or running around doing errands or ironing your sheets or what have you. But while you weren't paying attention, the shit was going down. A number of financial institutions bit it and bit it hard. In particular:

Lehman Brothers: Richard Fuld's proposal to split the bank off into a good bank (the stable Neuberger Berman unit) and bad bank (all their crappy mortgage stuff) basically totally failed: Barclay's shied away at the last minute from buying the good bank and Bank of America, among others, turned up their nose at the bad bank. And since the Fed suspects if they bail out another such institution they'll then have to bail out everyone, they're letting them twist in the wind. (Sorry, little bro! See you at Thanksgiving!) Early this morning, the 158-year-old firm filed for bankruptcy and is currently liquidating its assets.

Merrill Lynch: Since Bank of America was at the market, we guess they thought they might as well buy something. Last night, John "We believe that we are in a very comfortable spot in terms of our capital," Thain sold the 94-year-old brokerage, which lost $45 billion on mortgage assets this year — two times more than it made in the two years before the credit crisis by the by — to BofA for $50.3 billion in stock.

AIG: Meanwhile, in the middle of all this, AIG — otherwise known as the American International Group Inc., the largest U.S. insurer — announced it was facing a major liquidity crisis and was like, hey, Fed, we'd like to borrow $40 billion fucking dollars.

The markets are about to open, and it's about to get real ugly. Hold onto your hats, folks.

London Fashion Week Starts; Executive Shuffle at LVMH

• London Fashion Week started yesterday! And the clothes are very eighties. [British Vogue]

• LVMH is moving John Galliano managing director Fabrizio Malverdi over to Givenchy on October 6. He'll replace Marco Gobbetti, who was tapped for Celine. A replacement for John Galliano has yet to be named. [WWD]

Louis Vuitton will host a sailing event next year in Auckland. Hey, why not? [WWD]

• Nicole Richie reportedly smashed a fan's camera at the Charlotte Ronson after-party last week; Djimon Hounsou reportedly tried to steal Natasha Bedingfield's bottle of water at the Calvin Klein party while girlfriend Kimora Lee Simmons egged him on. [NYP]

• Heidi Montag went to a fancy benefit with her hair uncharacteristically slicked back. This blogger is pleased Heidi's experimenting. We feel more comfortable looking at her with her hair down. [Celebrity Beauty Buzz]

Vin Diesel to Make Triumphant Return to XXX Franchise

Photo: Getty Images

XXX^3: Columbia is in talks with producer Joe Roth to make XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, a sequel that would reteam Vin Diesel and director Rob Cohen, both of whom have agreed to return. We can only imagine the phone call to the trilogy-happy Diesel. Studio head: "Let's making another XXX." Diesel: "Everyone knows I only make trilogies." Studio head: "Technically that crapbucket sequel with Ice Cube was a XXX movie, so that, technically, makes this a trilogy." Diesel: "I'M IN!" [Coming Soon]

Ozzy Bites Head Off Feature: According to Jack Osbourne, his father Ozzy "refuses to do a book, because he’s terribly dyslexic, can't write and doesn't want a ghostwriter," so the burden of producing a documentary on the Black Sabbath front man's life falls on him. [Variety]

FARC You: As we'd hoped, July's Colombian hostage situation is getting the big-screen treatment, as Screen Gems has tapped Jessica Postigo to write Operation Checkmate, a story told from the perspective of the military rescuers who duped FARC and freed the fifteen hostages, including former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt. Producers plan to "have the final 22 minutes of the rescue unfold in real time," presumably with a beeping clock before every commercial break. [Variety]

Three New Cowboys: The O.C.'s Cam Gigandet, ER's Shane West, and Rachel Leigh Cook are in negotiations to join Kerosene Cowboys, a Mario Van Peebles action thriller from Svarog-Afterburner Films. Familiar-sounding story follows "the rough-riding and hard-living pilots of an elite Navy attack squadron," and while the plot details are kind of vague, we can tell you that the Cruise-Kilmer volleyball scene is going to be sexxxxxxy! [HR]

Kruger With a Bullet: Ehren Kruger, writer of Transformers 2, will adapt Boston Teran's God Is a Bullet and produce it himself, much like he did with Jennifer Egan's The Keep last year when he set it up with Rogue Pictures. Teran's novel follows a California lawman forced undercover to rescue his daughter from a gang of criminals. Unfortunately for moviegoers, he goes undercover as neither a kindergarten teacher nor a brother. [Variety]
