In what can be described as a really big announcement, T-Series has signed Salman Khan for their forthcoming film. The film will be directed by Anees Bazmee, who is fast gaining the reputation of one of the most successful directors in Bollywood. Bollywood Hungama spoke to Mr. Bhushan Kumar who confirmed the news. "Yes, we have signed Salman Khan for our forthcoming project to be directed by Anees Bazmee. The film will be a complete entertainer (like most of Aneesji's films) and will have romance, comedy and some really good music. We start shooting from Aug 2009 and will finish it in one go." So is there any title in mind and what about the female lead? "We are yet to zero in on a title. We have a couple of options which we will be sharing with Salman bhai. The script is still being worked upon. Salman plays the main lead in the film but we may also look out for another actor to play an important character in the film. It all depends on how the script shapes up over the next two months. Right now its just Salman bhai and Anees Bazmeeji who are on board" How did the idea of casting Salman come along? "Our company, T-Series, has had a long standing relationship with Salman bhai right since Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. I have released the music of many of his hit films. We also did a film together earlier - Lucky- No time for Love - and have been wanting to work with him again ever since. When we approached Salman bhai he was more than happy to work with us." Considering that Salman is one of the highest paid actors in Bollywood and even Anees Bazmee is among the highest paid directors there are talks that the film's budget is in the range of 100 crores. Is it true? "See...the understanding which we have with Salman bhai and Anees bhai is that we will make a big film. As far as Salman bhai is concerned, he is like family. He wants that I should profit from this project and I want that even he should benefit from this film. Salman bhai is known for his generosity. He won't let his producers bleed. The film is a big-budgeted film and the budget will be above 100 crores," signs off the young and dynamic music baron. Not just Bhushan Kumar, even Anees Bazmee seems all excited at the prospect of working with Salman once again after the blockbuster No Entry. "Yes, I am looking forward to directing Salman once again after No Entry. We had a great time and bonded really well. I am sure it will be a great experience this time too," said Anees Bazmee. Must say with the coming together of Salman Khan- Anees Bazmee and Bhushan Kumar this one promises to be a real biggie.Source: Indiafm.com News | 12 Sep 2008 | 4:17 pm Welcome to Sajjanpur to be screened at the London Film FestivalDownload Welcome... wallpapers He is a prolific Indian director and screenwriter. With his first four feature films Ankur, Nishant, Manthan, and Bhumika, he created a new genre, which has now come to be called the "middle cinema" in India. After dwelling so deep into serious cinema, Shyam Benegal made his first comedy film, Welcome to Sajjanpur that has been now invited for the prestigious London Film Festival 2008 that starts on October 15 and ends on October 30 in London. The film has been selected for World Cinema Category. London Film Festival showcases the best new films from around the world. Welcome to Sajjanpur starring Shreyas Talpade, Amrita Rao, Divya Dutta, Ila Arun, Ravi Kishan and Rageshwari Sachdev is a delightful satirical take on a contemporary Indian village. The film is set in a make believe world of Sajjanpur, something like the 'Malgudi' of R. K. Narayan. Says Vikas Bahl, the producer, UTV Spotboy, "We made a film that is from the heartland of India narrated in a very light hearted manner. To me, a subject like this selected for such a big festival is very encouraging and interesting. We didn't make the film with an intension of taking it to festival circuits but such news is really encouraging." Shyam Benegal, the director of the film was happy to hear the news and said, "London Film Festival is like an annual affair for me now. Almost all my films have been showcased there. I am happy and honored that like every year this year too I will be a part of the festival with Welcome to Sajjanpur. It is a nice platform to display the film to larger audiences. I hope everyone would like the film." Welcome to Sajjanpur is a story of Mahadev (played by Shreyas Talpade) who is one of the few educated young men from Sajjanpur. His ambition is to be a novelist but finds it easier to make a living by writing letters sitting next to the post office. His ability to write persuasive letters makes him popular with the largely non-literate population of the town. Aware of this power, he soon uses his talent to manipulate people with amusing and sometimes not such amusing results. The film is slated to release on September 19, 2008.Source: Indiafm.com News | 12 Sep 2008 | 2:09 pm Saif Ali Khan in his new 'Sardar' get-up for his home productionThe turban is slowly and surely finding its way with our very own Bollywood actors. After Akshay Kumar's super-duper sardar act in the blockbuster Singh Is Kinng, every actor worth his salt is donning the pagdi these days. By now its common knowledge that Salman Khan would be seen playing a sardar in Samir Karnik's multi-starrer Heroes and even chocolate boy Ranbir Kapoor is all set to play a sardar in Shimit Amit's next. Now the latest actor to don a pagdi is none other than cool dude Saif Ali Khan. Saif was seen shooting in this completely new get up for his as yet untitled home production directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film pairs Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone for the first time. The unit recently shot in and around the Lake Market area of Kolkata. In order to avoid any disruptions during the 4 day shoot, the hawkers, vendors etc. were given adequate compensation. As for Saif's get up, the buzz is that he sports this look during certain flashback sequences in the film. Whether the audiences will warm up to this avatar of 'Chhote Nawab', only time will tell but going by the increasing number of actors donning a pagdi, we can't help but agree that Singh is indeed King.
