But, in Bollywood, the case is 'Behind every successful hero and heroine, there is just one woman' and the name is that of Anna Singh, the lady who is all set to open her proprietorship design store in Bandra today. Bollywood Hungama caught up with the lady for an in-depth interview. Presented here are some excerpts: You are all set to open a proprietorship design store today. What's' it all about? It's a signature designer store, whereby one can feast themselves with 17 different collection lines for women with its fabrics being got from countries like Italy and France. This time the emphasis is majorly on women. Besides that, we also have a funky collection of men's shirts, Evening cocktail dresses, sarees, jeweled kurtis, also some really beautiful handmade Swarovski crafted clutches. It's a signature designer store, whereby one can feast themselves with 17 different collection lines for women Who are the stars who are planning to grace the event? There's Kajol who will be inaugurating the store. Besides her, the list is plenty with names of all the crème-de-la-crème of the society who have confirmed their presence. Who all have 'contributed' in the designing of the store? There's Ayesha Shroff who has done the interiors. Then, there's Suzanne Roshan, was to do the store before, but could not do it because of her baby. But, she has given some real good consultation. Dimple Kapadia has done some really nice candles. Moreover, I have got some lovely carpets from Egypt. All this and more gives the store a very personalized feel. Are there plans to open more such stores? Definitely yes. At the moment, I am looking forward to do some work in London. My movies are also keeping me busy. Once my stores in Mumbai get rolling, I will think about the others. Once my stores in Mumbai get rolling, I will think about the others What do you feel went wrong with your Peddar Road store? Nothing went wrong. It's just that the franchise people were cheats. They poached my staff, they poached my designs. And that's why I had to file a lawsuit against them and withdraw them as my franchise. You also have your costume jewellery line 'Just About Jewellery'. Tell us something more about it. It basically caters to the people who cannot afford expensive jewellery, but who want the jewellery to match their outfits simultaneously, but at much cheaper rates. In short, it's all about the ordinary man looking extraordinary! It's all about the ordinary man looking extraordinary! Anna, we won't be wrong if we say that you were the magical hands behind the transformation of Madhuri (Hum Aapka Hain Kaun) and Karisma Kapoor (Raja Hindustani). Whom do you feel should have been next on your list? Undoubtedly, Madonna and the reason being that she is the best in whatever she does! How has been your Bollywood journey so far? The going has been really great. The first film for which I designed the clothes was Khatarnak, after which there was no looking back. My originality has always been strong point. It's been a record span of doing 550 films in 20 years, something that has got me in the Guinness Book of Records! My work for Umrao Jaan and Taj Mahal has even fetched me the prestigious National Awards. What more could I ask for! I was also the official designer for the biggest beauty pageant in India, Femina Miss India for the past 5 years. Whatever it is, I owe my success to Jackie Shroff and Pooja Bhatt, the two people who happened to make me aware of my talent and creativity. Whatever it is, I owe my success to Jackie Shroff and Pooja Bhatt Tell us something about your tryst with Taj Mahal? Frankly speaking, I haven't worked so hard and felt so contended. During the making of this film, I was nearly re-christened as 'Anna Jampuri' or 'Jodhpuri' for the yards of fabric that I had cut and tailored to make costumes for the innumerable artistes in the film (smiles). Did you not ever think of joining the film industry as an actress as she herself was a famous model? I hail from a very conservative family where even becoming a designer itself had so many reservations. The fact is that I belong to a 'Jat Sikh' family where coming into movies was not accepted. I belong to a 'Jat Sikh' family where coming into movies was not accepted Who do you feel is the best dressed male and female in the industry today? I feel that the last style icon has been Mr. Jackie Shroff. We have not had any style icon after him. And amongst the heroines, I think they all look very similar. But I do like Aishwarya Rai. Amongst the current breed of Bollywood heroines, who do you feel needs top work on the dressing sense? Vidya Balan! We have not had any style icon after Jackie Shroff Looking back, you had quit designing for 'Nach Baliye' because you felt that u stopped growing. When the contestants came to me, they had huge expectations of what I was going to do for them. And the TV guys work on very strange budgets. That's the reason somewhere they (the contestants) felt cheated and I too felt that I could not do any justice to them. So, it was better to call it off as no body was really satisfied! They have really very constrained budgets! What's happening on the work front? I have got my hands full now. At present, I am working on London Dreams, Toonpur Ka Superhero, Veer, Yuvraaj and Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi.. Lastly, how do you describe the role of Jackie Shroff who has played an angel in your life? Jackie Shroff is the most wonderful human being I have ever met in my life. All that I can say is that you are sometimes blessed by the choicest of peoples and blessings!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Sep 2008 | 3:47 pm Teacher's Day special with Bollywood starsDr. S. Radhakrishnan's birthday is what we celebrate as Teachers Day. We have all had some sweet and some not so sweet memories with our teachers. The same holds true even for our Bollywood celebs. On this special occasion of Teachers Day, Bollywood celebs get nostalgic as they speak about what they think of this special day only on Bollywood Hungama⦠Check out what some of tinsel-town's stars had to say when we asked them questions like: - Which Bollywood actor / actress would you have loved to have as your teacher? - If you were a teacher, which subject would you have taught? - What role have teachers played in your life? - Could you share with us any funny incident that happened between you and your teacher? - What you used to gift your teacher on Teacher's Day? Arjun Rampal I'd like to have Zeenat Aman as a teacher especially during her younger days. As for the subject, I guess I would have taught Physical Education well. I think teachers are very important in bringing out the individual in you and mould you when you are young. I can't recollect any such funny incident but I did have a wonderful time with Mr. Fluke who used to train me for 400 meters running and has amazing sense of humor. I usually gifted chocolates and flowers to my teachers. Tusshar Kapoor I think I would love to have Salman Khan as my teacher. I can't recollect any funny incidents that happened with my teacher. As for gifts, I have gifted cards to my teachers. Farhan Akhtar I don't want to replace my school teacher; I would probably love to teach Geography. I think Teachers are a very integral part of my life and my consciousness. I don't remember any incident but yes whenever I wanted to bunk my school, I used to pretend to believe like I am fainting. We were not allowed to gift the teachers but we used to distribute chocolates to all the teachers. Shreyas Talpade I feel Amitabh Bachchan would have been great as my teacher. If I was a teacher, I'd like to teach acting. Arun and Mukesh sir have played a very important role in my life. I remembered that once we entered in the rehearsal room and we saw people were performing something and when everyone was done with, my friend said lets move from here. The moment we stepped out, one voice come from the back saying "You can't leave the room without performing". So we had to perform and we got selected for the next round. I never used to gift teachers at that time as I was unable to afford any gifts for them. Anurag Sinha I would love to have Dilip Kumar as my teacher. If I were a teacher, I would have liked to teach Moral Science. Teachers are very important as they shape the individual's fundamentals not only academically but in every manner. On Teacher's Day as a kid I used to gift my teachers chocolates. Uvika Chaudhary I would go for Mr. Amitabh Bachchan because he is the senior most actor of the industry. As for which subject I would have taught had I been a teacher, I think it would be Arts. Teachers are very important and I have been a really pampered student in my school and college. I still remain in touch with my teachers. I gifted Note Books and Pens to my teachers. Annu Kapoor I think good actor can play any character be it of a teacher or anybody else. My teachers have given me good education; the ones who hold special importance for me are Harish Bhargav, Shivcharanlal and Ebrahim Alkazi. I don't remember any such funny incident that happened with my teachers. I'm from a poor family so I used to take only my teachers blessings and no gifts.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Sep 2008 | 3:30 pm "We are used to seeing the police as a loser in most of the films" - Neeraj PandeyHe is a man who has become the cynosure of all the eyes. And he has every reason to be so. He has the rare privilege of directing two of Bollywood's giants, Anupam Kher and Naseerudin Shah, and that too in his debut film itself! He is none other than Neeraj Pandey, the name that's playing on everyone's lips alike! And it's his film A Wednesday which is one of the promising releases of this week. Bollywood Hungama caught up with Neeraj for an exclusive interview. Presented are some excerpts from the same. Neeraj, to start with, what made you choose an unusual subject for your debut film A Wednesday. Didn't you ever feel that you were taking a risk? Well, I think everything is risky for a first timer. Apart from that, I believe that one should always do what he or she thinks is right and what excites them. When I chose this story to make my film, I didn't calculate any risk factor because the subject simply excited me a lot. And in fact, I know lots of people who have been victims of the bomb blasts. All this and more prompted me to take up the subject. My film is primarily about whatever is happening around nowadays. When I chose this story to make my film, I didn't calculate any risk factor because the subject simply excited me a lot. Tell us something about the storyline of A Wednesday. The film basically deals with the case that had happened on one particular Wednesday between 2pm to 6pm. And the same is Mr. Anupam Kher's character (who happens to be the Police Commissioner of Mumbai) reflecting on, which was the most interesting case of his life, which is not, recorded anywhere. The film is a complete work of fiction. How was it to direct two legends like Naseerudin Shah and Anupam Kher in your debut film itself? Also was it tough convincing them? Actually speaking, it was not all difficult. Initially, I had sent them the scripts and they were kind enough to respond to it. The reason why I cast them both is because they are extremely talented actors and they fitted the bill perfectly. Even though you have managed a coup of sorts by casting the two giants, they come face to face only in the end and that too for very little time. Why so? Well, obviously it was very tempting to get both of them together. Having said that let me also add that the demand of the script was the reason for them to come face to face in the end. With umpteen films being made on terrorism, how different is A Wednesday from them? I haven't seen any of the recent films⦠All I can say is that A Wednesday is a very unusual film and I just hope that people love watching it as much as I loved directing it. The reason why I cast Anupam Kher and Naseerudin Shah was because they are extremely talented actors and they fitted the bill perfectly. What kind of music have you used for the film? And what was the brief given to Rakesh Ranjan? A Wednesday is a songless film. But the background music of the film is done by Sanjoy Chowdhary. I got him to watch the entire film first and then score the background. And since Sanjoy is someone with whom I worked before, I had full faith in him. And I am really happy that he did. What was the most difficult scene to shoot in the film? The most difficult scene would be the climax sequence. Can you share with us the locations where you have shot the film? We have shot in and around Mumbai, from the town side to the suburbs. The best part was that it was shot all in daytime! In your film, the police force has been shown in a good light. However, most of the times, police is shown helpless in the case of terrorism in Bollywood films. Was that a deliberate attempt? No, there was nothing deliberate in showing the police in the good light as we are used to seeing the police as a loser in most of the films. The fact is that it's not always the case as what one sees is not always the truth... Have you tried to give any social message through your film? Though it was not a deliberate attempt in that regards, but the basic motive was to make an entertaining film. And at the end of the day, I am really happy to see my film to have has shaped as a very entertaining and a cathartic film. And I am not preaching anything through my film, so to speak. We are used to see the police as a loser in most of the films According to you, why should the audience watch? I think it has two great actors and also great story. What other projects are you planning to do further? Direction and writing? I'm writing a script which will be again produced by my film company 'Friday Film Work'.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Sep 2008 | 1:39 pm Preity to attend 'Heaven...' premiere

Well, besides being great actors, they also have one more common element of commonality, which is all three of them have traveled by local trains to promote their films! Shahid travelled by a local train to promote his film Jab We Met. And the resultant was that the film 'Met' with unprecedented B-O collections and has also been touted to be Kareena's best film till date! After Shahid, it's the turn of Anupam Kher and Naseerudin Shah, the two legendary actors of tinsel town to be doing the same, in order to promote their film together A Wednesday, whose theme is terrorism and train blasts. The twosome decided to meet at a town side restaurant. While Anupam Kher reached on time, Naseerudin Shah got delayed due to the infamous traffic. Not the one to waste time, Anupam Kher quickly 'feasted' himself with a plate of pav bhaji at 'Satkar Restaurant', much to the surprise and shock of the on lookers there! And the moment when he met with Naseerudin, they immediately went to Churchgate station and boarded the first class compartment of a 2:36 pm Borivali local. And what followed next was sheer time of nostalgia! While Naseerudin reminisced his days when he used to travel without ticket from Bandra to Mumbai Central and back for almost 6 months and with all due respect to the Railway Authority also said that they now can not do any thing to him. How can Anupam Kher be far behind? He too shared his experience stating that once as he was crossing the railway tracks, a man offered him his hand to pull him up on the platform and then refused to leave his hand until he took him to the police station. It was only then he realized that the person to give him his hand was no other than a Police Inspector! "The weather in London got bad. And we hardly did any work. Chi Chi had Rumi Jaffrey's film and I had to return to complete Hello Darling. So we came back." She got into the Dhulia project at the eleventh hour. And she couldn't be happier. It is possibly the most fearsomely challenging role in the actress' career. "In King Con I play a stripper who's a kleptomaniac," Celina giggles. "I died laughing when I heard my role. I'm having the time of my life. I got the role just a week before shooting. They weren't sure about how to make the girl look. I play this stripper who's half-English and half-Indian." Celina's co-star is Govinda. She's all praise for him. "I've worked with so many leading men. He's one of those rare ones who never tries to flirt or make a pass. I don't know why people talk negatively about him. Govinda is a very spiritual person." Now Celina has one more film opposite 'spiritual' Govinda. "We'll start working together on Aditya Datt's film. I know people are talking about me and Govinda. But he's just too nice." Celina says she's finally able to focus on her career. "Earlier I was too much in love to give enough of myself to my career. But now I've realized work is all that matters. Love will come when it has to." Celina was also in the news for her supposed spat with Neha Dhupia in Thailand last month. Celina clears the air. "Neha missed her flight and arrived two days late. By then Riya and I were shooting a song in identical school uniforms. The director said the hairstyles should be different. But when Neha joined us she wanted the same ribbons. I suggested different hair accessories to avoid looking identical. Neha got agitated and used unparliamentary language with me." Since this ugly incident happened in Celina's van the actress got upset. "The next thing I knew stories about our spat was being spread in Mumbai." Says Celina, "A spat over ribbons with a co-star is not my scene. I'm also being accused of spreading stories about Riya and Paritosh Painter. I reached Thailand three days late because my passport was stuck with the British embassy. I had to make up for lost time. I had no time for all this in Thailand. My mom and dad were with me in Thailand. We were constantly together. As for Neha and me, we were hardly together. After Thailand I went straight to London. I had no idea about the stories being spread in Mumbai. I guess girls working together always causes trouble. We all have our insecurities to deal with. " On the brighter side Riya Sen called and apologized to Celina for believing she was spreading such rumours.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Sep 2008 | 11:19 am
