Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 14 Aug 2008 | 11:38 am Madhur completes quick fire Chandigarh schedule of FashionOver the weekend gone by, Madhur Bhandarkar was a busy man. While in Chandigarh for the shoot of his soon to be released Fashion, he was also conferred the 'Pride of India' award. The award came from All India Anti Terrorist Front (AIATF). "The award was quite an honor since it came from a renowned non-political and non-sectarian organization like AIATF which is committed to foster a spirit of intellectual inquiry, understanding and goodwill amongst all people. It was also a matter of pride because the man who presented me the award was Mr. Maninderjit Singh Bitta who is known as 'Zinda Shaheed' for his extra ordinary contribution when it comes to fight against terrorism." Madhur was awarded this title for his extra ordinary contribution to Indian Cinema with his recent National Award for Traffic Signal getting special mention. "I am very glad to achieve this high honor. My movies are not explosive, maybe they just hold up a mirror to society. My movies are not judgmental, I just show what happens in our society, sometimes there could be a solution and sometimes there may be none. Life goes on", says Madhur Bhandarkar. Talking about awards, he would be visiting Delhi again on 2nd September for an event which would see him collecting his National Award for the Best Director from President Mrs. Pratibha Patil. Meanwhile, the city of Chandigarh also saw him wrapping up a quick fire schedule featuring Priyanka Chopra. Other prominent actors who joined her in the shoot were Raj Babbar and Kiran Juneja. "The scenes we canned are critical to the film's plot and we chose to be in Chandigarh rather than a set in Mumbai since we wanted authenticity to the proceedings. The character played by Priyanka is shown to be an upcoming model from Chandigarh and we wanted to bring the essence of the city alive in the scenes", informs Madhur. With the film being pre-poned to 17th October, how well placed is Fashion to meet the deadline? "There aren't any worries as we are on the right track. Just a few days of work remains to be wrapped up and we should be all set for the post production work", says Madhur confidently.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Aug 2008 | 11:20 am Jessica Simpson wants to be the next Dolly PartonLondon (ANI): American pop singer Jessica Simpson has revealed that she hopes to be like legendary country singer Dolly Parton. Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 14 Aug 2008 | 10:49 am Aftab Shivdasani plays Akshay Kumar's sibling in Kambakth IshqAftab Shivdasani's only film as the main lead (not counting Indra Kumar's Daddy Cool which also has Suniel Shetty) Aloo Chaat with TV actress Amna Sharif is complete. Even as the suddenly-reclusive Aftab Shivdasani turns producer to create an interesting acting opportunity for himself in a couple of months with a film to be directed by Glen (one -half of the Glen-Ankush duo who directed Aftab in the little-seen sci-fi cloning tale Jaane Kya Hoga with Bipasha Basu), the actor quietly took off for LA to shoot for Sajid Nadiadwala's much-publicized Kambhakth Ishq. And he plays Akshay Kumar's chota bhai in the film. Both the actors are cast as stunt-men in Hollywood and have a lot of scenes together where they perform some unbelievable high-flying scenes. Says a source, "We keep reading about Akshay Kumar's exploits at LA, how he performed various stunts, how he met Sylvester Stallone, etc. But Aftab has done the same stunts and also shared screen space with Stallone. He sees no reason to tom tom his work. His logic being, 'When the film is released everyone will know anyway. What's the point of talking about it.' In fact, Aftab has withdrawn into a shell ever since he broke up with Yana Gupta. He refused to talk about it even when he was offered front-page coverage by papers. That required guts when your career isn't going great guns. And when his career didn't seem to be getting anywhere he quietly decided to produce a film and create an exciting opportunity for himself." Aftab admits he isn't inclined to promote his cause these days. "I've been shooting for Kambhakth Ishq in LA. Yeah, I play Akshay Kumar's sibling. We both play stuntmen. So it kinda runs in the family and it's a family that kinda runs fast. The role requires considerable physical skill and energy." Aftab underwent rigorous training to look and feel fit enough to pull off those daring stunts at Universal studios. "The stunts are dangerous. But everything is so professional here in Hollywood. Safety while doing action scenes is top priority not just for the lead stars but also for the stunt men. Otherwise the experience of working at Universal is no different from the studios back home," Aftab says in a matter of fact tone. He enjoyed working with Stallone. But doesn't think it's no reason to call up key journalists back home. "I've scenes with Sly Stalllone. He was a pleasure to work with," is all Aftab will say. As for the perception that he has moved to the second lead Aftab chuckles, "I don't know about that. Everyone is entitled to his or her perception."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Aug 2008 | 10:48 am Britney wants normal childhood for her kidsLondon (ANI): Pop princess Britney Spears has expressed her desire to steer her sons away from limelight so that they can have the 'normal childhood' she never had. "It's not quite three roles. But equal to three roles. Ranbir has to play age 16, age 24 and finally 30. While the middle part is close to the way he is in body language and speech, playing age 16 and 30 is not easy, not for Ranbir who I've discovered is a bit of a perfectionist," says director Siddharth Anand. Years ago when Kamal Hassan had to get an anguished shout out, he placed his face in a plastic bag and screamed into it. His vocal chords were permanently damaged. Ranbir isn't doing anything so damaging. "But intense preparation is his domain," reveals Siddharth. "You've to see how Ranbir looks in the three phases of his roles. He has different clothes, hair and styling in every phase. But most important is the way he has used the voice. He has brought different nuances and different speech patterns for each phase in his character's life. For age 16, he speaks faster and in a shrill tone. When you're younger, you're more enthusiastic and eager to be heard. Ranbir looks and sounds as exuberant and restless as a 16-year old. And at 30, though there's no discernible difference in a person's voice quality, you've to hear the differences Ranbir has brought into his voice." In fact, Ranbir welcomed a bout of flu last week so he could dub a heavy dramatic sequence in a gravelly voice. Laughs his pal Siddharth, "That's the kind of actor he is. I've never seen such a hunger for perfection in any actor that age." Apparently, Ranbir's quest for credibility was contagious. "Bipasha who's professionally senior to Ranbir looks so well matched with Ranbir. All those who think the two would be mismatched better be ready for a shock. Ranbir can look compatible with any co-star," says his loyal director. Is he nervous? "I'm not afraid of expectations just because some Yash Raj films haven't done well. Why should I be? I was more apprehensive when my Salaam Namaste came in the year when Yash Raj had three hits Hum Tum, Veer-Zaara and Dhoom." The story for Bachna Ae Haseeno is written by Aditya Chopra. "The minute Adi told me the story; I took it from him and never returned it. While many interludes in Salaam Namaste were borrowed from Hollywood films not one single shot in Bachna... is taken from anywhere. It's completely original."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 14 Aug 2008 | 10:12 am Elvis, Priscilla immortalised in a set of dollsWashington (ANI): The King of Rock 'n' Roll Elvis Presley and his widow American actress Priscilla have been immortalised in a set of dolls created by the maker of Barbie. Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 13 Aug 2008 | 4:56 pm Madhuri Dixit's Unforgettable MomentOne has always heard of the heart skipping a beat, but no one has ever seen a 'heartbeat'. But one look at this lady will surely tell you what a heartbeat really looks like. No wonder then, she is aptly called the eternal 'Dhak Dhak' girl of Bollywood. We are indeed talking about Madhuri Dixit Nene, whose million dollar smile has now become more famous than Mona Lisa! She was, is and will remain to reign as one of the finest actors that Bollywood has ever produced. When the charisma of this talent gets combined with lightening performance of someone as gigantic as the Big B, the result is nothing short of livewire dynamite, which is exactly what the residents of LA and San Francisco witnessed at The Unforgettable Tour in US. Joining them were Abhishek, Ash and Preity who took the stage by storm. In a candid conversation, Madhuri Dixit Nene shares her experience at 'The Unforgettable Tour' and talks about her other first ever experiences. How was the experience of performing at The Unforgettable Tour? 'The Unforgettable Tour' and Wizcraft gave me an opportunity to perform with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya and Abhishek on the same stage. LA and San Francisco shows have been overwhelming and I am looking forward to visiting other cities and reaching out to my fans. I have worked with Aishwarya and Preity before and that has been great. Also, there is a great comfort level in our team and I am sure it is going to be an unforgettable experience. First Stage Performance.... I was 3 ½ years old when I first performed on stage. It was a small portion of Kathak. First rehearsal for a World Tour... It was in 1991. I was on a world tour with Anil Kapoor... and the world tour happened after our movies Tezaab and Ram Lakhan were a hit at the box office. First Amitabh Bachchan movie that you saw.... In theatre, it was Amar Akbar Anthony. My husband didn't watch many Hindi movies during his stay here. But when I asked him about the only Hindi movie that he watched I was amazed and surprised by the answer I got. Coincidently, Amar Akbar Anthony is the first and the only Hindi movie that my husband watched. It was an Unforgettable Moment for me when I heard this. First time you faced the camera.... It was for my movie Abodh. I dint know how a camera looks likes or a set looks like. I was leaning towards the wall and it was only until my hand passed through the wall; I realized that it was a set. Until then I had not experienced or faced camera ever Your First Song.... It was for my movie Abodh again. We had to shoot for a bhajan at a temple... Yes, that was the first song that I shot for. First time you got mobbed... It was after my movie Tezaab. I was at the Mumbai airport when few youngsters were whispering amongst themselves and I caught the word Mohini. One of them asked, "You are Mohini from the film Tezaab, Right!!" I was very excited when I heard that. First Fan Mail.... I had received lot of letter after my movie Tezaab... I was amazed by the response. This was the first time I realized that I am popular or getting popular.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 13 Aug 2008 | 3:32 pm The Unforgettable Tour Diary: Day 23 - Backstage drama excites Atlantic City audience- 'Unforgettable' reached the Atlantic City over the weekend gone by and it was sheer glitter and glamour of the city which was to be seen to be believed. Boasting of the kind of sheen which befits ornamental beauty, the city seemed to be shining in gold all over. Add to that the hotel arrangements which provided a truly luxurious setting, courtesy rooms boasting of Jacuzzis and all around mirror designing! - Apart from the high that stars got on stage, off stage too it was quite some fun, especially for Riteish Deshmukh. On his visit to a neighborhood casino, he went on to make as much as 5000 dollars for himself and that too in mere 10 minutes. Shekhar wasn't that lucky though since he ended up poorer by 500 dollars. Well, koyi jeeta koyi haara! - There is an interesting anecdote around Om Shanti Om. While in India the film saw its satellite premiere over the weekend gone by, far off in USA as well the film made its presence felt. Apparently, as Vishal and his band chose to travel in their bus while enjoying a road trip from New York to Atlantic City, the driver chose to play Om Shanti Om. Though everyone was aware about the merits and credentials of the film, the local bodyguards of Vishal were taken by surprise when they detected the composer in his one scene act (Readers may remember that Vishal played the role of an assistant director in the second half of the film). - Coming to the show, it boasted of a 14000 odd strong crowd. Yet again, there were million odd obstacles which came in way of the stars before they set their feet on stage. However, it was collective will of each of them which made sure that not a single shoulder sagged and no dip in morale was evidenced. Backing each other in the worst of adversities, it was time for stars to come up with yet another 'paisa vasool' entertainment. - Well, 'paisa vasool' entertainment it certainly was for the audience, though more so for a section of crowd which was seated at a strategic point from where backstage was visible. While performance of a particular star was on at the stage, the others stood behind the scenes and kept themselves entertained. The same happened when Big B was holding the center-stage. As Abhishek, Madhuri, Ash, Preity, Vishal, Shekhar and Riteish were jumping and dancing around in their green room, one of them realized that they all were visible to the audience! - For a moment, they were taken aback since this was least expected. However, realizing that this particular section of crowd was thrilled to see their off-stage antics, Abhishek got into his trademark prankster mode and started pegging the audience. While he was having fun with his fans, he even pulled in Ash who was oblivious to all the happening. The moment she was conned into being exposed from backstage, it was but natural for the audience to go completely mad. No wonder, at any point of time, there were two streams of cheering happening - one for the man/woman on stage and other for those who were back stage. - Meanwhile high energy continued to be the strong point at Atlantic City as well. While Amitabh Bachchan was performing, Vishal and Shekhar along with Abhishek and Riteish joined him for an impromptu act. Abhishek went a step ahead and pegged Ash and Preity to have a closer look at the performance while only ending up in pushing them on the stage right in front of the audience. And all of this when the ladies just didn't see it coming! It was time for some point-in-time act out there. - There were some on-stage mishaps though which seemed to be slightly threatening. Vishal fell on his injured knee (yet again, he has a long history in terms of minor accidents) and got into a horrible stage where he couldn't even move on stage. He did go ahead with a round of painkillers and thankfully the damage didn't turn out to be overtly serious. However, this was one situation which he really wanted to avoid on this long tour. - For Preity Zinta it was turning out to be a special evening since Vishal and Shekhar dropped 'Dil Dance Maare' [Tashan] to accommodate the title song of 'Salaam Namaste' as a part of their performance. While Preity indeed wanted to join them on stage for the chartbuster number from her film, she could not since she was dressed up for the 'Bhoombhro' [Mission Kashmir] act which was to follow next. Wearing a Kashmiri outfit for a beach song didn't quite seem to fit into the scheme of things after all! - From the Saturday night fever at Atlantic City, the stars headed for Chicago where the event was waiting to kick start in less than 24 hours. It was time for some quick rest to be followed by yet another evening of glitz, glamour and energy!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Aug 2008 | 2:02 pm Salman gifts a Raj Kapoor painting to RanbirNo matter how tough Salman Khan looks from outside, he is an ultra soft side which not many people know of. Well, after having gained the reputation of being the proverbial Bad Boy of Bollywood, its only time for Salman to show his soft side. And what better platform for it then his popular game show 10 Ka Dum. The episode in question had Ranbir Kapoor along with his (onscreen) leading ladies Deepika and Minissha Lamba, who were on the 'Independence Day' special show to promote their forthcoming film Bachna Ae Haseeno. Even as they were shooting, Ranbir got very emotional because they were shooting at RK Studios. An emotion-filled Ranbir said that his grandfather (the late Raj Kapoor) shot his first film Aag in that studio, while his dad (Rishi Kapoor) shot for his first film Bobby there and now he too was shooting at the same place! Salman made the evening even more memorable for the teenage heartthrob Ranbir by presenting him a painting of Raj Kapoor that he specially painted for the chalet he has at RK. Way to go, Salman!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 13 Aug 2008 | 1:53 pm Bappi Lahiri plays an NRI tycoon in Main Aur Mrs. KhannaA few days back we had reported that 'Disco King' Bappi Lahiri would be seen acting in a film titled Rocking Dard-e-Disco. Reason? News of Abhinav Bindra winning an Olympic Gold spread like a wild fire and though everyone out there was elated, the man who was seen celebrating most was none other than Amitabh Bachchan. He wasn't making any effort whatsoever to conceal his excitement and was more than vocal in letting everyone know about him being overjoyed at India's moment of pride! - Talking about Olympics, apart from performing on stage (obviously) and blogging (obviously...again!), Amitabh Bachchan is constantly cued in on all the recent happenings at the biggest sporting event. He is watching the sport in all the time available to him and is not just aware about everything interesting which is happening on a day to day basis but also well versed with the medal tally and the works. He was as excited as a child the moment news broke about Bindra winning Gold Medal for the country. - Meanwhile on stage, he was doing his part and winning his audience time and again. A cast was spell on Chicago crowd as Big B continued to pull something or the other out of his magic hat. Hit dialogues from his yesteryear films, trademark dance step of 'Jahaan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai' [Kaalia], the title track from Don - everything just added on to spellbind the audience. - For the first time in the US leg of the tour, there was no Madhuri Dixit to join the stars. However, youngsters took it on them along with Big B to ensure that her absence was compensated for by their bravura act. It was a small venue which could accommodate 9000 people but the buzz is that an additional 2000 paved their way into the venue. Yet another night. Yet another event. And some more magic! - The venue boasted of huge production values and as stated by quite a few members from the audience as well as promoters, the city had never witnessed any Bollywood show like this before. LED screens were all over with special electronic curtains creating a surreal feel. Wizcraft, people behind 'Unforgettable', were in their complete elements here and they put their Commonwealth Games experience to full use here. The stars are especially excited about the man named Paul who has come up with a fantabulous job while playing the role of an outstanding technician. - Talking of people behind the stage, Vishal can't ever forget a lady by the name of Noreen! It could have been one messy Sunday but Noreen ensured that there was no letdown whatsoever. Read on to know what really happened! - Apparently, Vishal's costumes went missing and there was no time to launch a search. Reason? The show had to begin at 7:00 PM and it was already 6:20 PM. Stationed at his hotel, Vishal had to get something on to suit the mood of the stage and performance. This is where Noreen came to his rescue! She took him to a nearby mall and used her fashion experience to the fullest. In 20 minutes flat, she along with Vishal ran from one store to another, picked up stuff, didn't bother trying them out, dumped them into one huge bag and rushed to the venue. Of course, it was a fun of a different kind which Vishal got out of the entire experience. - Meanwhile buzz continues to be high all over the USA, courtesy an aggressive promotion and publicity which is happening in New York - the epicenter of all the action. At Times Square, every 5 minutes there is an advertisement of 'Unforgettable' which has been playing throughout the tour duration. Now that's quite a high for the troupe since this prominent advertising junction has been witness to some of the top international stars enjoying this kind of coverage. - After all the weekend fun, it is time to chill out, relax, watch some films and hang out in general for all the stars. From here, it is going to be Independence Day celebrations with New York being a witness to an 'Unforgettable' concert slated to take place on 15th August.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Aug 2008 | 1:17 pm India's first international film- 'Aakashagopuram'MohanLal starrer Malayalam film, titled 'Aakasha Gopuram' directed by National awaSource: India News | 13 Aug 2008 | 12:45 pm
