Choreographed by Ahmed Khan and directed by Siddharth Anand himself, the video is the highlight of this Yash Raj production since it has Ranbir Kapoor sharing the same frame with three beautiful ladies - Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba. However, apart from the presence of these stars and some well-designed moves by Ahmed Khan, the factor responsible for this video turning out an excellent watch is Panchamda himself. Seems like he blessed the crew from up there in the heavens as the video was shot on the same date when he was born (June 27). "Isn't that amazing? We could well feel that he was there to guide us in making sure that we did full justice to his song which has been a craze since three decades," says Vishal Dadlani who, along with Shekhar, has given a new spin to the yesteryear number by bringing on Kishore's son Sumeet Kumar as well behind the mike. If this wasn't a good enough divine intervention, there was more coincidence to come. Although unbelievable, it is true that June 28 is Vishal's birthday and coincidently the day, the shooting of the music video was wrapped up. "Being a true R.D. Burman follower, I have always felt blessed to be born on a day after my idol. Now with Bachna Ae Haseeno, I also got a platform to celebrate my birthday on the film's sets. Even as the spirit of this evergreen number kept Ranbir and company charged throughout these two days, we knew that up there even Panchamda must have been smiling to see the spin the current generation has taken on his creation," says an emotionally charged Vishal. Coming back to the song, while Ranbir does immensely well in jumping and dancing around to the beats of R.D. They started with releasing Raj Kumar Santoshi's Halla Bol in January 2008 and then went on to releasing some inconsequential films. Their latest release Mukhbiir directed by Mani Shankar of 16th December fame and produced by Sudhish Ramabhotla of Color Chips Entertainment seemed like a film which could help them make a mark in Hindi cinema. The film has been in the news since its first screening at the Osian Film Festival. The money back guarantee promised by the producers may just be a marketing gimmick but did help a film of this nature to get noticed. Inspite of all the right attention, Pyramid Saimira failed to release Mukhbiir on July 11 as publicized. There are various reasons doing the rounds. While some believe that Pyramid was unable to get the right theaters inspite of having a strong distribution background, another rumor doing the rounds is that they faced some issues with the multiplex association. The long-drawn differences between producer Sudhish Ramabhotla and director Mani Shankar is also a strong reason for the cancellation of July 11 as a possible release date. The issues and problems seemed to have been taken care of. Mukhbiir is now slated for August 29, confirms Paresh Manjrekar (distribution â Pyramid Saimira). Producer Sudhish Ramabhotla confirmed the same saying, "Yes, Pyramid has confirmed August 29. Since decision regarding distribution is their responsibility.â Purvi Shah COO western region at Pyramid was non-committal said, "We will be releasing the film by end August or early September for sure.â Sudhir N.R. who was initially the spokesperson at Pyramid for Mukhbir and was rigorously promoting the money- back scheme remained unavailable for comment. Whether August 29 or September 5, looks like Mukhbiir will be hitting the theaters very soon. Now what's worth watching is whether this film, which has been carrying positive reports inspite of being surrounded by controversies from the beginning will be able to make a dent at the box office like films in the past have, whether it was Bheja Fry, which released after years of delay or Taare Zameen Par, which too was surrounded with controversies between producer and director. Even if you are the preferred film for a multiplex in a particular week, you would still have ended up with 2-3-4 shows only due to sheer volume of films. Isse achcha toh 1 week baad aaye! At least we would end up getting good number of shows for ourselves since by that time the euphoria of the earlier released films would have subsided to a great extent." Was it an easy decision to move C Kkompany considering the promotion has been on full swing and quite some money is being spent on ensuring that the comedy is visible to the audience prior to its release? "It wasn't a matter of an easy or a difficult decision; it was a matter of being practical. Now it would be really difficult for this Pritam soundtrack to be displaced from the top spot, until and unless 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' too repeats a similar feat at the theaters on it's release this weekend. 'Talli Hui' appears to be forced into the narrative 2 1 Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa After a golden run at the music stands, Rahman finally makes way for the 'King'. Meanwhile the music video of 'Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai' has seen a good response coming it's way as well, hence ensuring that every track from the film has turned out to be popular. None 3 3 Bachna Ae Haseeno Rock solid in Top-3 of the charts, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is continuing to keep the steam on. It should be giving some solid competition to 'Singh Is Kinng' for the top spot in the fortnight to come. Due to disagreement between YRF and certain music channels, the songs aren't finding an all around satellite publicity. It's a pity, especially for the title song music video, which is quite an outing for the viewers! 4 4 Kismat Konnection TIPS is not allowing the album to die down even as the film has been on a rather quick way out after making most of the money in it's first week. Each of the songs from the album continues to be promoted on the music channels, hence ensuring that Pritam celebrates yet another good hit soundtrack to his name this year. With 'Singh Is Kinng' and 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' doing extremely well and 'Rock On' proving to be good competition as well, 'Kismat Konnection' is all set for a descend in fortnight to come 5 6 Rock On Surprise of the season! 'Rock On', which didn't quite seem promising to begin with, has improved it's standing in the charts week after week and now finds itself in Top-5. What a conventional score of 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' couldn't do for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, 'Rock On' has done it for them. The music sticks to the theme but in the process caters to very restricted segment of audience. 6 5 Ugly Aur Pagli Anu Malik has played his part well and come up with a musical score which has done well to keep the film in news. Though 'Talli' has indeed being the biggest hit of the album, there are other numbers in the soundtrack as well, which though good, have been unfortunately sidelined by the audience. Makers and the music company are doing well though to keep the momentum on for the music promotion! The film has met with a lukewarm response at the box office which is bound to adversely effect album sales as well 7 7 Jannat It should be silver jubilee time for 'Jannat' soon, what with the music being available on the stands for 5 months now and doing consistently well ever since then. All eyes are now set on the next project 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' coming from Bhatts-Pritam-Hashmi. None 8 8 Race Pritam has a knack for superhit music resulting in super-hit movies. 'Race', 'Jannat' and now 'Singh Is Kinng' - need we say more! None 9 10 God Tussi Great Ho While the music of 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is doing superb on the stands, 'God Tussi Great Ho', the film which releases on the same day, is struggling on the charts. The Hindi version of Dombivali Fast which Kamath is supposed to helm for producer Abbas-Mustan has now been put on hold, as Kamath has decided to make a light frothy film. "Why not? I can have fun too. And believe me, making a credible escapist entertainer is not easy," says Kamath. Interestingly, Kamath has traveled a strange route to Hindi cinema. He first made a widely-accepted Marathi film Dombivali Fast with Sandeep Kulkarni in the lead. which he remade into Tamil as Yenavu Oruvan with the Madhavan in the lead. "I didn't know a word of Tamil. But Madhavan was keen. And he knows four languages English, Tamil, Hindi and Marathi. So he was my right-hand man all through the making of Dombivali Fast's Tamil version." In fact, Kamath was all set to make another Tamil film launching Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti with Madhavan. "But the script didn't materialize at the right time. So I focused on my first Hindi film. Now I'm committed to make Dombivali Fast in Hindi for Abbas-Mustan. But I'm in no mood to do another serious social critique." Kamath is now in the process of writing his first light-hearted film. Will it feature Madhavan again? "We're very close friends and collaborators. If I had my way I'd want him in all my films," says Nishikant Kamath. Is he aware that two other films, Neeraj Pandey's Wednesday and Joy Augustine's Little Godfather, on the train blasts are being readied? They both aimed at a July 11 release. But couldn't be complete on time. "I'm not aware of these," replies Kamath quietly. âLike I said my film isn't about the explosions. It's about the aftermath of a national tragedy. There're five characters Soha Ali Khan, Madhavan, K K Menon, Irrfan Khan and Paresh Rawal in different episodes coping with the tragedy.
