Sahil Khan as Raama and Tanushree as Samara in Raama-The SaviourA few months back, the whole country was abuzz with the arrival of popular WWE wrestler, 'The Great Khali'. During his stay in India, Khali did shoot for a few films, gave countless interviews and even participated in many promotional activities. Needless to say, fans (especially children) went berserk on seeing their favorite wrestling champion. Soon, cine-goers will also get to see 'The Great Khali' in a film titled Raama- The Saviour. The film, directed by Hadi Ali Abrar stars Sahil Khan and Tanushree Dutta along with 6 children in lead roles. The film is an adventure drama and revolves around six school kids who while playing a video game get transported to a magical island called 'Azra'. They have to survive in an environment where reality meets the gaming world. Its here that they befriend Raama (played by Sahil Khan) a resident of Azra, who can control animals and even speak to them telepathically. The rest of the film deals with how Raama helps the children get back home after an adventurous journey. Sahil with his toned-up physique looks every part the character of Raama, while the glamorous Tanushree Dutta would be seen playing the character of Samara. Dalip Singh better known as 'The Great Khali' is the added attraction in the film and he plays the character of Vali. With Khali-mania that is going on, one thing is for certain that kids will surely flock to watch this film when it opens across theatres on Oct 2, 2008.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 24 Jul 2008 | 4:06 pm "Whatever I've done may not be exceptional work but it's decent" - Aziz MirzaAziz Mirza started his career as a director on television when he did Circus with Shah Rukh Khan in the cast. With his first feature film, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman in 1992 Aziz Mirza became Bollywood's primary purveyor of working-class romances. It took him 5 years to make his next film Yes Boss; another 3 years to make Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, and three years later came Chalte Chalte. Now 5 years after Chalte Chalte Aziz Mirza has returned with another romantic comedy Kismat Konnection. He speaks to exclusively Subhash K Jha. Times have changed. How much has your cinema changed? Change is inevitable. 'Woh khansama ka zamana chala gaya'. Nowadays it's the era of fast food. No one is bothered about the delicacies of the eating ritual. Accepting change is important. I've to make my cinema within the given parameters of change. If you notice, Kismat Konnection even has a different kind of music. I've to incorporate today's sensibilities into my own vision. The story remains practically unchanged. But the mode of narration has to change. I'm not here to make great cinema. But I do have a certain literary background and a cultural grounding. That will show up, no matter when I make a film. One change I've made is to make my new film shorter. It's just 2 hours 20 minutes long. My earlier films are longer. Today's audiences don't have patience to sit for leisurely narrations. I can't prolong moments in the narration any longer. And maybe the silences are not that pronounced. Kismat Konnection is also the first film I've shot abroad in Canada. But it doesn't matter where the story is situated. It could've been located in any vibrant metropolitan city. Would you call it a compromise? No. I'd call it an acceptance of reality. One needs to work around the limitations. 'Jitna chaadar hai ussi mein banana hai'. My son Haroun, Masha Allah, has contributed tremendously to Kismat Konnection and my previous film, Chalte Chalte. Very soon he'll be directing a film and I'll be helping him out. Theek hai bhai. The young generation has to be pleased. So be it. I had thought I'd make another subject. But I guess it was destined that I make Kismat Konnection. This kept coming back to me. I genuinely feel this film had to be made. Before I realized it, the film was complete. Did you get the full co-operation of your team? It becomes so much easier when you're working in an atmosphere conducive to productivity. I do believe when I work on a happy set, the happiness shows in the film. The positive vibes show up. I must thank my film's producer Ramesh Taurani for signing Shahid Kapoor at a time when Vivah and Jab We Met hadn't been released. The film's commercial viability wasn't that high when we started making Kismat Konnection. But I had decided on Shahid. 'Mujhe woh achcha lagta hai'. To give the film a new look we shot it in Toronto. I haven't traveled much. We chose Toronto because it seemed less expensive than US or London. Besides, I wanted the bustle of Mumbai. People in the industry look on Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan as replacement for Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla in your cinema? We shall leave that to the audience. Every actor has his or her own identity. Anyway, to be compared to Shah Rukh and Juhi isn't a bad thing. Shahid and Vidya look really nice together. I was very comfortable working with them. They've brought in their own dimension to their characters. I had made a film about kismet. When I was 14-15, I remember my father telling me that at that age it was foolish to believe in destiny. But as you grow older you are a bloody fool if you don't believe in destiny. Whatever I've achieved today is because of many forces that I had no control over. But in Kismat Konnection, I've shown my characters believe that they can make their own destiny. That's what being young is all about. I've a fortune-teller in the film. But I've made sure she remains an ambivalent character. You never know whether she's a fraud or not. Do you watch Hindi films? Occasionally, I do try to catch the important ones. If someone recommends a film, I see it. Among the recent ones, I like Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3, Tigmanshu Dhulia's Haasil and Anurag Basu's Metro. Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar was a very sincere film. That's why it worked. I've made a film after five years. After Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, I didn't want to over-intellectualize my cinema. My name is attached to Kismat Konnection. Whatever I've done for television till today, I've nothing to be ashamed of. It may not be exceptional work. But it's decent work. Where are the exceptional films today like V Shantaram's Do Aankhen Barah Haath, which have withstood the test of time? I'm just happy making logical cinema. I'm not aspiring to greatness.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 24 Jul 2008 | 3:26 pm Day 4 - Overwhelming response indicates likelihood of 3 additional shows- Let's talk about the big news first. As per reliable sources, looking at the overwhelming response in Toronto and Trinidad, the tour has been extended by a day. Instead of Amsterdam hosting the grand finale on 29th August, Düsseldorf has been added to the scheme of things. While a show being held on 30th August at Düsseldorf is a certainty, there are also chances of a couple of more shows being added to the tour in the first week of September. Stay tuned for more updates! - Coming back to what stars did in the day gone by. Well, most of them decided to enjoy the day off and catch up on some well deserved rest. The best part about their stay in LA was some good Indian food though! Everyone from Bachchans to Vishal and Shekhar (who arrived a day later after chilling out for an additional day in Trinidad) was treated to sumptuous Indian food which came as a bonus. - Vishal, his wife, Shekhar and the rest of the band spent most of their time traveling. After their flight being delayed by an hour, insult to the injury came in the form of their aircraft continuing to hover around in the air before landing at LA. It was way past 1 AM that they eventually checked into the hotel. - The hotel is a beauty in itself though! An exclusive super posh hotel at the famous Sunset Strip in LA, it boasts of a personalized villa for each of the stars (yes, you read it right)! Not just it offers a private dining hall and other basic facilities for everyone residing out there, it also boasts of a common courtyard where friends can come together for a chat. With a welcome champagne bottle helping everyone in regaining energy, the hotel is making sure that it turns out to be one 'unforgettable' outing for the visitors from India. - No wonder patrons are extremely exercised about the hospitality extended by the hotel. Not just are the arrangements impeccable, for those looking at flexing some muscles, there is a famous gym out there which is touted to be THE BEST in America. Ahem ahem, someone out there is already thinking of getting into an extensive work out! However, what Vishal is longing for is the BEST BREAKFAST in America. Well, it's his tummy doing all the talking on an off day! - Each of the stars is busy making his/her own plans of visiting varied zones in LA. While all of them have plans to get together for the screening of The Dark Knight later in the evening, in the day time a few of them are also planning to visit Universal Studios. Vishal for sure is quite excited since he would be catching up with the crew of Kambakth Ishq which is currently shooting at the studios. The common person present would be Anvita Dutt Guptan who has written the lyrics and dialogues of both Kambakth Ishq and Bachna Ae Haseeno. - Meanwhile, Shekhar has all the plans to blow away his hard earned money in a matter of a day! Reason? He is aiming at hitting the jackpot in numerous casinos in LA. Has he ever won in the past? Well, he claims so, though people close to him state otherwise! Will he turn lucky? Stay tuned and we would report on that as well! - Stupendous success of Toronto and Trinidad has resulted in word of mouth spread fast in the European continent as well. Since the show has been widely successful so far, number of other European cities (where there are currently no plans for the show to be hosted) are also showing keen interest in hosting the stars from India. Will they oblige and make it 'unforgettable' for the Europeans as well? Well, it is a wait and watch situation. Till then, everyone is looking at chilling out for one more day before getting ready to hit the stage once again on 26th July!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Jul 2008 | 12:49 pm Aamir Khan to launch TZP DVD at Darsheel Safary's school in MumbaiAamir Khan's blog is testimonial to the number of requests that he has been getting to launch the DVD of Taare Zameen Par soon. The DVD of Aamir Khan Productions' first film Lagaan was launched after almost six years; however with Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan was very keen to launch it immediately as it is an important film in respect of child education. Aamir Khan has been working relentlessly for the last six months and has even added some interesting features to make the DVD a collector's delight. Now for all you die-hard Taare Zameen Par fans, who have been waiting for the DVD since months, here is some good news. Aamir has decided to launch the DVD of Taare Zameen Par tomorrow (July 25) and that too in a function to be held at Darsheel Safary's school Green Lawns at Warden Road, Mumbai. Trust the Perfectionist Khan to do things differently and in grand style; the DVD would be launched by none other than Darsheel's school principal. Apparently, Aamir strongly feels that principals and school teachers play a key role in the education of a child. In fact Darsheel Safary's principal sets an example of how educators should allow a child to follow their dreams. She has been very important in giving Darsheel permission to shoot and adjusting his education on sets. Hence, Aamir thought the she would be the right person to launch the DVD of this sensitive film. Well, with the DVD launch happening tomorrow, its time to rush to your nearest store to grab a copy of this landmark film.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Jul 2008 | 12:47 pm Ethan Hawke`s wife gives birth to daughter !Actor Ethan Hawke`s wife has given birth a daughter the couple named Clementine, his publicist said on Wednesday.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 24 Jul 2008 | 12:18 pm `Water Babe` Priyanka dons a bikini in KJo`s `Dostana` !Bollywood bombshell Priyanka Chopra will soon be seen flaunting a swimsuit for KJo`s upcoming romantic comedy `Dostana`, also starring Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 24 Jul 2008 | 11:20 am Sanjay Dutt's solo song from Alibaug goes outDownload Alibaug wallpapers With Irrfan Khan finally taking over Sanjay Dutt's role in Sanjay Gupta's autobiographical Alibaug, there are further tragic developments in the ongoing saga of the severed friendship between Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta. The elegiac love song that Gupta recorded in Dutt's voice for Sanjay Dutt will now have to be scrapped. "We'll have to get it done by a professional playback singer now," informs Gupta hours before the shooting resumes at an art gallery in Mumbai. "It won't be correct to have Sanjay Dutt's voice for Irrfan." Irrfan says he wouldn't mind lip-syncing to Dutt's voice. "But the only problem is, Sanjay Dutt has such a strong personality and image, and a voice to match. Audiences will immediately identify his voice and refuse to accept it as my voice. So I'd think a playback singer for me would be far more preferable." So what happens to the footage and song from Alibaug featuring Mr. Dutt? "I guess it's of archival importance. One day I hope to sit down with my near and dear ones and look at what we shot and recorded as proof of how much Sanjay Dutt and I shared once," says Gupta. Interestingly, in spite of the Dutt-Gupta rift, Sanjay Dutt's special appearance in Gupta's Woodstock Villa was retained. "But that's because the song was filmed on Sanjay Dutt. Here we cannot go in the reverse direction and have Irrfan singing in Sanjay Dutt's voice," Gupta concludes. Alibaug isn't the only White Feather film where Irrfan has replaced Sanjay Dutt. The role in Acid Factory that Irrfan did was also written for Dutt. In fact, promos with Dutt were shot. Does Irrfan enjoy replacing Dutt in Gupta's production house? "I don't see it that way at all," protests Irrfan. "No one can replace Sanjay Dutt. He has such a unique personality voice and body language. I can only bring my own personality into the roles and make them something quite different."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Jul 2008 | 11:18 am Kareena's extra marital affair with SohailNo, do not get scandalized as we do not and are not resorting to yellow journalism. We are talking about the on gong war of the two leading giants of the Bollywood fraternity: Percept and UTV. For starters, sometime back Percept Picture Company had announced a film starring the Cheeni Kum pair of Amitabh Bachhan and Tabu. This film that was titled as Johnny Walker was supposed to be directed by Shoojit Sircar. Due to some reasons unknown, the film never saw the light of the day, even though the initial announcement was made. Reportedly, Sircar then approached UTV with the same subject and had renamed it Shoebite, which is currently being filmed under UTV's production. This action of Sircar angered the Percept officials to no end, since the film belonged to them officially. That's the reason which prompted Shailendra Singh of Percept to approach the Delhi High Court, which gave away its decision to a long battle between both the production houses. The court's decision went in favour of Shailendra Singh, who has won the case. Copy of the Court's order "Percept approached the Delhi High Court to protect their intellectual property in the script Johny Walker which is registered. Counsel Mr. Rajiv Nayyar instructed by Ameet Naik of Naik, Naik and Company and Rishi Agarwal appeared for Percept. The Delhi High Court was prima facie convinced that Shoojit Sircar disregarded the terms of his engagement with Percept and is making the Amitabh Bachchan starrer film Shoebite with UTV, based on Percept's script. The Delhi high court observed that since UTV and Shoojit Sircar have encroached upon Percept's copyright in the script Johny Walker, on 16th July, 2008 the court has granted injunction restraining them from infringing Percept's copyright in the script and dialogue of the film Johny Walker in any manner including by making the film Shoebite based on the script".Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Jul 2008 | 5:06 pm "Hansika was always talented and ambitious" - Manoj BajpaiAlthough he may disagree, it is no fluke that Manoj Bajpai's CV is stacked with real-life figures, including some of the most towering names like 'Bheeku Mhatre', 'Samar Pratap Singh', 'Raghavan', 'Babu' and 'Swami'. Manoj is a submissive chameleon whose own subtle, taciturn personality allows him to vanish under the skin of the person he's playing. Nor is it a coincidence that Bajpai's most renowned, iconic role - Bheeku Mhatre - is a blood curdling hoodlum, able to charm but flip the switch in a millisecond to unleash the rage-fuelled currents underneath. Off screen, Manoj is mellow and soft-spoken, pretty unusual huh! But these days, Manoj is content mixing it up between movies he does for quality (the upcoming Money Hai Toh Honey Hai), the ones he does for the bank balance (all his films) and the ones he does for friends (Sanjay Gupta's Acid Factory). And if meeting this actor in flesh is a rare privilege, over the phone is even more exclusive because he hardly ever does interviews. Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel gets this rare exclusive of an actor who winches his films up several notches with performances that packs in charm, determination, eccentricity and humour. Versatility is just a word but eventually what counts is the effort and the choices one makes Your career has not only given you an opportunity to be a part of successful films but all some spectacular roles like in Tamanna, Satya, Shool, Kaun, Aks, Pinjar and Swami which will be most remembered for Manoj Bajpai's versatility. Any comments? This has been a very conscious effort in choosing the films that I wanted to do as an actor. Versatility is just a word but eventually what counts is the effort and the choices one makes. Money Hai Toh Honey Hai is your first role where you are seen doing full-fledged comedy from frame one and what a 'U turn' for Ganesh too. Was it a difficult choice for both of you? It wasn't a difficult choice for Ganesh but because of his conviction in me and the film, I agreed to do this film. Our friendship started with Swami, he always wanted to make Swami as his first film, and after that Ganesh felt very emotional about me being in Money Hai Toh Honey Hai and I just went with the flow. For me as well, it wasn't a difficult decision. Money Hai Toh Honey Hai brings out a message that together you can win the world. You are the one of the senior actors in MHTHH. Does that make the film extra special? It's a unique film because of so many other factors. It's Ganesh's way of making a comedy film, it's completely different from all the other comedy films being churned out from the industry. MHTHH's comedy is just not senseless, it's not just slapstick but the film's comedy comes more from the characters and their circumstances. MHTHH's comedy is the struggle of these five losers who want to do something with their life. Are you trying to say that MHTHH is going to give out a meaningful message? Yes. It brings out a message that together you can win the world. Ganesh wanted me to be a part of MHTHH, he dragged me out of my bed, and the next thing I knew was I was flying to Mauritius. Did you go through any research or study for your role because you haven't done any physical comedy before? Ganesh did not give me enough time to prepare for this role. This role came to me in November 2007 and the crew were about to leave for Mauritius. I was nursing my shoulder injury and was in no physical condition to accept any role. I did not work for the entire 2007. Somehow, Ganesh wanted me to be a part of MHTHH, he dragged me out of my bed, and the next thing I knew was I was flying to Mauritius. We've also heard recently that your best pal Sanjay Gupta is praising you left right and centre for your look in his next film Acid Factory. This look has happened because we wanted to do something drastically different with my character. It is not something that is a part of our imagination but it has a lot to do with the character also. My role is very child like, loyal and quite unpredictable. Sanjay Gupta is somebody who is hell bent on giving me such a role. His conviction for me is hundred percent and I'm just going by his conviction and vision. I've already asked this question to Hansika but it now gets passed on to you. What were your reactions when you saw Hansika, the same small girl with whom you acted in Jaago nearly three years ago? Wow! Hansika was playing Raveena's daughter in the film Jaago. But the first time I saw her as a kid I knew that she would grow into a heroine. I somehow could see that in her behavior on and off sets. Even though she was just a 13-year-old girl, she wanted to do very well in her career. This is just the beginning. She is talented, ambitious and wants to grow big fast. Even though Hansika was just a 13-year-old girl, in her Jaago days she always wanted to do very well in her career. Actors turn directors, choreographers turn directors too. Who else is left to take on direction? Isn't all this becoming a trend now? All this is a natural progression. You can't stop it. Farah Khan and Ahmed Khan turned to direction. These people are always dealing with the camera angles and choreography is just another part of the story line. All these people are experts when it comes to techniques and portraying emotions. So if you go by Ganesh's first film, all the things I've just said would make sense. There are no set rules for direction. The name Manoj Bajpai is associated with quality cinema. Is that what we will see from Manoj Bajpai in the future as well? Definitely. I am made in such a way that I don't like many of the offers that come by and it becomes very difficult for me to work for 365 days a year. You can call me lazy or a choosy person, however it may suit you, but I have never given more than three releases in one year. Last year, it was 1971, Swami and Dus Kahaniyaan. This year you will see me in two films, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai and Acid Factory. Govinda is a superstar. Both of us got along very well with each other. Both admire each other's work; so the chemistry was evident on the sets and will be evident on the screens. Brief us a bit about your interactions with your co-stars in MHTHH and who do you think will steal both, Honey and Money by the end of the film? Govinda is a superstar. Both of us got along very well with each other. Both admire each other's work; so the chemistry was evident on the sets and will be evident on the screens too. I know Aftab since his Mast days and he is a versatile actor. MHTHH will prove it yet again. Celina is a fantastic person and very obedient. Hansika, as I said is a very talented, hard working and an ambitious girl. But what is going to surprise people is Upen Patel's track 'Awara' in the film. Ganesh's choice of Upen works wonders in the track and then Govinda takes it to another level. So how far do you think these newcomers can go? You are a senior, veteran, and a vastly experienced actor. Do you give any advice to freshers like Upen and Hansika? I try to create an atmosphere, which is congenial and comfortable for them. It's helping them in a way but you can call it a bit selfish too. I want my scene to be fantastic and if the actor is a newcomer who is nervous, that will not help me in any way. Therefore, I have to make things very comfortable for them. Can you recall any funny moments while filming this movie? When you're doing a comedy film, each and every moment becomes very funny because all of us were making each other laugh. I remember a moment when Govinda and I couldn't stop laughing and it became very difficult for Ganesh Acharya to start the shoot. The moment he said 'Action', we would fall down laughing. From all the films you've done so far, I'd rate Tamanna, Satya and Shool as your best three. What about you? Pinjar and Aks are my favorites and also 1971. I think it somewhere tops the list. According to so many army people, it is the best army film ever made. That was the biggest compliment, which came to us. 1971 did not boast of a great starcast but it did boast of great quality. Pinjar and Aks are my favorites and also 1971. I think it somewhere tops the list. What's important for you - box office success or critical acclaim? Most of the actors in our industry don't care about the critics. Critics, I think, are the people most unaware of the making process of any film. They are intoxicated by the power of the pen. They have their own agenda's. A little bit of box office matters so that you have the freedom to choose and work the way you want to work but at the end of the day what's important is that if the quality of cinema fails, you fail. One Friday the box office success is there and the other Friday it's gone. I have a sense of rhythm. I used to dance when I was in theatre. Describe your role in this film. I play a loser whose name is Lalabhai Bhadoriya. He is from U.P. He is somebody who wants to become a millionaire overnight and wants to start his own business. But at the same time, he is the biggest optimist in the world. He doesn't consider any crisis as crisis but for him it's the experience that counts. Bhadoriya hates manipulation and that is why my character and Govinda's is always at loggerheads. How did you manage to shake a leg Manoj? It's not difficult at all. I have a sense of rhythm. I used to dance when I was in theatre. I've done a semi classical dancing course. So everything is there. I don't dance unnecessarily. If it is required, I'll do it and make sure that it's not me who is dancing but Bhadoriya. Any message for your fans who are looking forward to see the talented Manoj Bajpai after a long sabbatical? I love my fans and just want to appeal to them that they should see quality films and support quality films. If they keep on supporting commercial films, only commercial films will be made. Thus, quality will take a back seat. Love you all.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Jul 2008 | 4:35 pm World's first cricket gaming portal launchedA website claiming to be the world's first cricket gaming portal was launched here Wednesday, aiming to cash in on the newfound genre of 'cricketainment'.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 23 Jul 2008 | 4:02 pm Arjun Rampal, Udita Goswami, Sagarika Ghatge shoot an item song for FoxIf you were wondering as to where did the hunky Arjun Rampal disappear after his so very popular villainous act in the blockbuster Om Shanti Om. In fact after watching the promos, one surely gets the feeling that the cast and crew must have had a ball of a time shooting for this quirky comedy. Mallika Sherawat and Ranvir Shorey even celebrated director Sachin Khot's birthday on the sets of the film. After a long day of drooling schedule, the entire team was so tired and worn out that everyone just went back to their respective rooms to crash in their bed. However, debutante director Sachin Khot didn't exactly know what was in store ahead. After the pack up when Sachin was finally resting, the cast and crew decided to crash in to his room and throw a surprise party for him. Mallika, Ranvir along with others like Rangita Pritish Nandy got cake and gifts for him and danced the night on the chartbuster song 'Talli'. Everyone ate, drank and made merry the whole night so much that everyone was actually talli by the time the celebrations finished. Sachin still can't forget the incident, "It was a very exhausting day, we were shooting continuously since 5 in the morning till 11:30 in the night. As soon as I entered my room and was ready to sleep, I heard a loud bang at the door of my room. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see my entire cast and crew standing at the door to wish me. It was a very sweet gesture by them. I always celebrate my birthday with my family and closed ones. Though this time I was not with them, I didn't really miss them because of the beautiful team I had with me, we all had actually become like a family. We all partied till 2:30 in the morning. But what surprised me the most was that though everyone was awake till late night, they were back on the sets next morning on the decided time." Must say, the Ugly Aur Pagli team surely knows how to work and have good fun, both at the same time.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Jul 2008 | 2:03 pm "Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja and I are doing another film" - Himesh ReshammiyaAt the moment, Himesh Reshammiya is in Jordan shooting for Kajraare with Pooja Bhatt.
