Live Chat: Hansika on July 19 at 1500 hrs IST

Shakespeare once said "What's in a name?" Well, if he would have seen Hansika, then, probably, he would have rephrased the saying as 'Everything's in the name itself'. We are indeed talking about Hansika Motwani, the girl with the most saccharine-coated smile. Just a glance of her dew-drop eyes is reason good enough for even the toughest of the mountains to crumble in silence! Imagine the impact that she must be having on the mortals called 'Humans'! Having made her Bollywood debut with the smash hit Aap Kaa Surroor - The Real Love Story, Hansika has been riding high, and she has all the right reasons to do so. A mere dekho of her forthcoming films is good enough to give many a top actress, oodles of sleepless nights. But you need not worry, as Bollywood Hungama brings to you this brittle angelic beauty for an exclusive chat session on Saturday, July 19, at 1500 hrs IST.

Dhulia finalises the title of his next; Con Flick is re-titled as Showman

We had earlier reported about Tigmanshu Dhulia's next film has a working title Con Flick. Dhulia has now officially titled the film as Showman. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, lia confirmed this news today saying, “The film is now titled Showman which stars Govinda, Rimi Sen, Vidya Malvade, and Celina Jaitley. The film is set in London, and has a very tricky plot. The audiences will not know till the last as to which of the heroines will get Govinda. We are leaving for London for a month long shooting schedule.” Showman, which has its music composed by Sajid- Wajid, also marks the return of two actors Kabir Bedi (who plays conman in the film) alongwith Harish (of Prem Qaidi, fame), who is making a comeback of sorts with this film. When asked about the status of his film Shagird, Dhulia said, “We are through with the film’s mixing. The film stars Nana Patekar, Mohit Ahlawat, Rimmi Sen, and Zakir Hussain (of Sarkar fame). The film is about a cop story set in Delhi with lots of twists and has Anurag Kashyap plays a gangster. This will be a songless film. Its background score is composed by Abhishek Ray, who had earlier composed for Haasil and who is also the music director of the Irrfan Khan starrer Pan Singh Tomar.” Dhulia will also start shooting for Pan Singh Tomar in October-November.

Salman Khan meets his look alike

A mirror is an object of desire to many (read 'all'). But, if one were to think of the same on a philosophical level, then, it gets revealed that it's not the mirror, but, it's the mirror image that one is in love with! And can you imagine what will be your plight when you see your mirror image standing in front of you? Well, we are only asking you to imagine. But Bollywood's darling Salman Khan actually lived the experience of seeing his mirror image - live in flesh! This happened on the sets of TV's most popular game show these days - 'Dus Ka Dum'. Salman Khan met up with his look-alike on the show, who, in real life, happens to be a dancer. While dancing in the show, the look-alike was really surprised and shocked (to say the least) to see Salman sneak up from behind him and strike a similar pose! What happened after that was out of anybody's imagination. Even as Salman was talking to his look-alike, the young man walked away as he was totally confused on coming face-to-face with his idol! One can't blame the poor guy though, because after all, he was in front of THE Salman Khan! On seeing his look-alike walking away, the real Salman in his usual trademark humor shrugged and remarked "Salman Khan sure has attitude!". We simply second that, Sallu Mia!

A new song added in Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na

Everyone has been singing praises and talking about Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na. Over two weeks since its release, the film has gathered worldwide fame and adulation. Imran and Genelia have become stars overnight. Looking at the positive response from the audiences, Aamir Khan and Abbas Tyrewala have now given the audiences another reason to watch the film again. Few days back, Aamir had put up a debate on his blog, www.aamirkhan.com, asking his fans whether he should or should not add the female version of the track, 'Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai' sung by Runa picturised on Genelia Dsouza in the film. Apparently, Aamir and Abbas felt that the song should be deleted in order to match up with the pace of the film. Hence, it was not a part of the film when Jaane Tu… released on July 4. Now, since Aamir got feedback from a number of people that they missed this song in the film, he has decided to add it to the film. The female version of 'Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai' will now be added to the film from this Friday (July 18) and will run for a week. Moreover, depending upon the response they get for it, Aamir and Abbas will decide if the song should remain in the film or not. Now is that a good enough reason to watch the film again or what?

Pankaj Udhas sings for Haldi Hasan in Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam

"Each time Pankaj Udhas sings a song in a film it becomes a super hit. I wish the luck persists with my film as well," says writer-director of Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam, Sanjay Chhel. Pankaj Udhas, famous for the hugely popular 'Chithi Aayi Hai' (Naam), makes a comeback to playback singing for films after a gap of three years (his last film was Nigehbaan) with a sure shot hit track 'Ek To Sharaab Kam' in the Mallika Sherawat-Rahul Bose starrer "dark comedy". "Kay Kay Menon is playing a ghazal singer Haldi Hasan in the film and we felt it appropriate that his singing should have a ghazal singer rather than a normal singer," Chhel said. "This is the first time that Kay Kay is doing a full fledged comedy role," he added. 'Ek To Sharaab Kam' is an earthy song with tabla, harmonium and sarangi giving the feel of live playing. The number is meant to capture the hearts and minds of the interiors of the country especially up North and it succeeds for sure. Although it's not similar to the Venus Music mega hit 'Tum To There Pardesi' by Altaf Raja, but the impact is somewhat the same. Incidentally, the music of Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam will be released in Mumbai this Saturday, July 19.

"I like the grey side of life rather than the beautiful side" - Apoorva Lakhia

Apoorva Lakhia is only four films old. For someone who started his career with a Bachchan and then making both Abhishek and Amitabh appear in his first three films is a revelation in itself. What's more, this bindaas director has again roped in Abhishek for a music video in his next release Mission Istaanbul. That makes it four in a row. But it is surprising to see how this man of guts has never gone above the roof. In better words - never been over confident. He continues to make films which he believes in, gets inspired by noir subjects and most importantly, gives a chance to talented new comers to work in his films. Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel gets hold of Apoorva Lakhia all the way from London as never heard before. Over to the man on a mission! There have been many films based on terrorism and good guys saving the world. What makes Mission Istaanbul different from the others? Firstly, my film is not about good guys saving anyone, and my film is not about terrorism. It's about my character who is living in a world which is surrounded by terrorism and when we started getting the idea, we figured out that the most common thing connecting most countries in the world right now is terrorism and not love and peace. My character is travelling through times where all the real life terrorism acts are taking place. For example, 9/11, the Madrid blast, the London bombings and the Mumbai train blasts. We've got real life footage too just like we had in Shootout. All this makes Mission Istaanbul very interesting and slightly realistic even though it's a fictional film. After Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, your lucky mascot now seems to be Vivek Oberoi. Why not cast any of the Bachchans in an action film like this? I had gone to Abhishek Bachchan with the script very initially at the first stage when I had come up with the idea of Mission Istaanbul. But he was very busy and did not have the dates and I didn't want to wait. And I had asked him about the script when we were shooting for Shootout during his sequence. It isn't about any lucky mascot. It's just that Vivek and my chemistry was pretty good in Shootout and he gave a fantastic performance. So what if Vivek has done action films in the past? He hasn't done anything like Mission Istaanbul. I've also seen that in India, somehow the combination also works yaar! It's Apoorva Lakhia and Vivek Oberoi after Shootout At Lokhandwala. I didn't have the star cast like I did for Shootout. So each decision was carefully made here. We really got into Vivek's look and so the advantage was that we had a lot of time while he grew his hair and made his physique, etc. But why go for a specific genre Apoorva, when you could have made a non violent film? This script was actually ready before Shootout. I made a conscious decision after Ek Ajnabee was released. I'll tell you in a bit. Ek Ajnabee was a very good film. It did a decent business in India but the Press just killed it by saying that it's a rip off and a remake of Man on Fire and did not give enough credit. So I decided never to make a remake again in my life. Even when Sanjay Gupta called me to work for his company, he offered me Four Brothers to remake which I refused to do. That's how Shootout came along. But in the Economic Times, I had read an article stating that what would happen to the world economy if Osama Bin Laden was dead? It was like living in Utopia where there is no terrorism. It's like a John Lennon's song 'Imagine'. I have a little book which I keep with me at all times where if I read something interesting from a mag or any newspaper, I cut it out and put in my book. Overall, to sum up your question, I am an action buff. After Ek Ajnabee, I decided never to make a remake again in my life When it comes to action, the overseas audiences prefer Hollywood films. For Mission Istaanbul, did you have a specific target audience? See bro, I knew from the very beginning that I am never going to give a blockbuster like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, etc in my life. I know that and my producers know that. My film will make about 300 to 320 prints compared to Yash Raj or a Karan Johar film which will come out with 1000 prints. I like the cinema I make and no disrespect to anybody else because they make good film too. I am only three films old and learning to be a good director. I like the grey side of life rather than the beautiful side of life. I want my characters to be dark and grey. I like the pace of my film to be relentless. So these are the things I like doing. If my target audience is like me, they'll go and watch Mission Istaanbul. I like the grey side of life rather than the beautiful side of life. I want my characters to be dark and grey We've seen Zayed Khan deliver just one big hit of his career in the form of Main Hoon Na. Why cast him? That's an interesting question. Firstly, I did not know Zayed at all. And what I needed in this film was a young guy who was willing to give me a hundred percent and would mature during the film. I first went to Zayed for a guest appearance which Suniel Shetty is doing now. So when I first met him he said, 'the script is fantastic and it's good of you to come and meet me'. He further added that he was at such a stage in life that he could not do guest appearances because he finally wanted to take life seriously. That was Zayed Khan for me - noble and honest. So when he said no and my dates with Bobby Deol didn't work out, I just saw that lets give Zayed a shot. One things sure bro, if Mission Istaanbul works or doesn't, this would be Zayed's best ever performance till date. Why don't we see a well known or an established female lead in any of your films? My films are very male dominated. If you look at the economics side of things, we do not necessarily need an established actress. If I get a big heroine, I'll have to pay her 2 to 3 crores which would not be worth it for an Apoorva Lakhia film. Mission Istaanbul is a film with smaller actors but I had to keep my budget in mind because the film was much bigger. Suniel Shetty has been kind enough to give 24 crores to spend on a Zayed-Viveik film which no other producer would do. Suniel Shetty has been kind enough to give 24 crores to spend on a Zayed-Viveik film which no other producer would do Tell me why Shreya Saran and debutant Shweta Bharadwaj? I selected Shreya Saran was because I wanted a very beautiful Indian face to have the Indianess in my film. When I began casting, Sivaji was released and I saw her in that. She was mind blowing. The second thing is that though she has done a couple of Hindi films in the recent past, Mission Istaanbul would almost be her debut in Hindi cinema. In South, she is a big star but in Mumbai, no one knows her. As far as the other girl, Shreya Bharadwaj was concerned, we needed a girl who would give us 45 days before the start of the film to train in action because she has a terrific action packed role and that we could not get it done from any well known actress because they were not willing to give us those crucial days. Let's talk about Mika Singh. You now seem to have found your Ganpat in Mission Istaanbul? Mika is a very good friend of mine. I got him onto Shootout and we recorded 'Ganpat' by fluke. The story of 'Ganpat' is that we were recording the song by Euphoria 'Hey Maa'. Mika was sitting in the next studio and within a few minutes he came up with this song, 'Ganpat', which we recorded right there. In Mission Istaanbul, he has done this song, 'Apun Ke Saath Jo Bhi Ladega, Sar Saale Ka Wahi Phutega'. It's not only an Apoorva - Mika combination coming together but also Vivek - Mika once more after Shootout. In India, the song is a big hit and we released it one week before Abhishek's 'Nobody like you'. You are also well known for launching new faces. Tell us a bit about the he-man Nikitin Dheer. I wanted to go out of the box this time around. I wanted a guy who could be the Rupert Murdoch, this media tycoon, but not play his age. Nikitin Dheer is like Rupert Murdoch's son. He owns this huge media empire called the Al-Johara news channel which is spread all over the world. He is Harvard educated, spoilt and over confident. He is six-four height, looks like an army tank and when he takes his shirt off, he can blow anyone apart. He can raise his leg over my feet and I am six feet tall. Now you tell me, how can I let this guy not act in my film? It was a little bit of a risk working with so many new comers. There was an article which was published in DNA which said that I am only three films old but have given a break to eight people. I have given a break to my background artist Amar Mohile, my editor in two films, my costume designer, my DOP and my actors. I started as an assistant and I like to trust everyone who works with me. 'Mission Mission' song and Abhishek's 'Nobody' song has been done by a 22 year old first time music director. His name is Chirantan Bhatt who is a little gujju kid. He used to come to my office everyday and tell me to listen to his music. I ignored him five times and when one day I was smoking outside, I made him and another guy Hamza sing. They blew my mind up dude! I went to his small house in Juhu where he lives with his mother. We jammed from 1 till 2 in the morning and came up with these two songs. So you know, you have to give such guys a chance and if it has worked for me, it'll definitely work for others. 'Mission Mission' song and Abhishek's 'Nobody' song has been done by a 22 year old first time music director, Chirantan Bhatt Does Mission Istaanbul give out any social message? There is no message given out in Mission Istaanbul. Even in Shootout, there is no message. It is left for the public after Dia Mirza's last monologue. The public should decide who is good and who is bad. I could have taken the police's side or the bad guy's side. Thus in Shootout, both of them were heroes and both of them were villains. In Mission Istaanbul, I've not said whether terrorism is good because I truly believe that someone's terror is someone else's war. I haven't educated myself to give a judgment whether it's good or bad. I'm too young to give a judgment. Did you ever come up with this idea that Mission Istaanbul could have been a film with no songs in it? Mission Istaanbul could have been there with no songs in it....but you have to realise once again that I am making a movie with Zayed Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Nikitin Dheer, Shabbir Ahluwalia and two new girls for which I am spending 24 crores. So I have to keep the songs because the revenue which comes to around 3 to 5 crores is very important to my producers. I would rather make a film without songs but sometimes you have to give and take. I am not Raj Kumar Santoshi or Ram Gopal Varma where I can tell someone 'Nahi chahiye yaar!'. Suniel Shetty explained me that if you have an action film which is not the hottest genre in the overseas market, but if you have an action film supported with good music, that is an advantage to you. Touchwood, it is working out the same way as Suniel described. My title song has been on the number one for almost two weeks and the romantic number is also doing well as it's on seven right now. We have seen your buddy Abhishek doing a guest appearance in Shootout and in Mission too he has done a special music video 'Nobody Like You' for you. So the baby is here, where's the daddy, Mr Bachchan senior? Mission Istaanbul is the only film of mine where we were trying to fit Amitji in some scene or the other but it didn't really work out. Abhishek is as good as Mr Bachchan. I've made a friend for life after Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost. Abhi's song is very good. He hasn't been dancing ever since he got married so it's another great thing yaar (laughs). Mission Istaanbul is an action packed film but are we going to see any special effects in it? You will see bits and pieces of computer graphics but there are no special effects in Mission Istaanbul. All the stunts are done by my actors, including jumping from a building on to a helicopter, then jumping down from the helicopter in the -20 degree temperature of December when the water was frozen, etc. When you see the film, you will see nothing but close up's of the actors doing it. Out of all the four babies (read 'films') you've directed, which one is your best? Obviously the baby whom I'm close to is Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, even though it tanked. But I have no regrets. After that, all my other films are close to me. But Mission Istaanbul is the only one which is making me nervous right now. I have never been so nervous in my life. And can you tell us the reason for your nervousness? Firstly, I don't want people to think that Shootout was a fluke. Secondly, I want to be established in the film industry as a serious filmmaker or someone who takes his job very seriously besides the way I look and my tattoos too. And thirdly, because I feel indebted to Suniel Shetty because he was the one person who stood up for me when the whole Sanjay Gupta thing happened. He has the confidence in me to tell me that this is the star cast we have, this is the budget you require, go and shoot it yaar, forget reducing there and here. I think this kind of a movie with such a star cast should have been made with Rs 17 crores. Suneil and Ekta Kapoor have surpassed that figure. So both have been a great support. I am also doing another film with them called Generation X which is worth 65 crores. It is going to kick off in July or August next year which we are shooting in China, Korea, Miami and Australia. I am also doing another film with them called Generation X which is worth 65 crores Why should one go and watch Mission Istaanbul? Because it is new age, modern, fast paced and a relentless thriller. Any message for your fans who loved Shootout and loved 'Ganpat'? I don't know if I have too many fans. But if there any, I'd say that as an honest director, personally I think Mission Istaanbul is better than Shootout At Lokhandwala.

"Mallika is a Diva" - Ranvir Shorey

The name's Shorey…Ranvir Shorey, who started off as a VJ only to succumb to the magical calling of the silver screen (not his fault though!). One observes the fact that whatever role Ranvir does, he does it in style! Be it that of a writer in Freaky Chakra, or Asif Merchant in Bheja Fry, or Balwant 'Bunty' Khosla in Khosla Ka Ghosla, Ranvir justifies the role with élan! The news is that Ranvir is back with his latest offering Ugly Aur Pagli, wherein he is all set to make the cine-goers envious of him as he gets to romance none other than Madame M' herself…Mallika Sherawat! But hey! Wait a minute…What on earth is this! The film's tagline says '99 Slaps and 1 Kiss'! For starters, it's the same Mallika Sherawat, who shot to fame with her 17 kisses in Khwahish. How can this be true…99 slaps and just 1 kiss and that too in Mallika's film? Rack your brains no further as we bring you an exclusive interview with Ranvir Shorey and we will surely get it straight from the horse's mouth! Over to you Ranvir… It's something like, if I am pissed off with you, then, I will call you Ugly Ranvir, it's not a clichéd role that you are playing in Ugly Aur Pagli. Despite you looking so rocking in the promos and movie stills, you are still called 'Ugly'. How come? Dude, 'Ugly' is just a name of the character in the film. But I am not called 'Ugly' throughout the film. It's something like, if I am pissed off with you, then, I will call you Ugly. I do not fear about me being overshadowed by anyone! Well Ranvir, in that case, don't worry, we'll not ask you any such questions that will make you call us 'Ugly'! (Laughs) Knowing that you will be paired opposite 'The' Mallika Sherawat, did you, at any point of time, feel that you would be overshadowed by her presence or persona? Not at all. The fact is that I normally do not worry about being overshadowed because, as far as I am concerned, if the script has something that my character will be overshadowed by then, so be it. Otherwise, I do not fear about me being overshadowed by anyone! Talking of Mallika, tell us how 'Pagli' is she is real life. Not at all man! She is far away from being even the 'P' of 'Pagli'. Mallika is a very intelligent girl who is very, very focused and has great instincts. Overall, she is a DIVA! Mallika is a very intelligent girl who is very, very focused and has great instincts. Overall, she is a DIVA! You seem to have an affinity for debutante directors. How else can you explain the fact that you are possibly one actor who has worked with the maximum number of debutante directors? Oh that! Yeah! I simply love to work with debutante directors. I have worked with lots of first time directors and will continue to do so. Many of my films like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Bheja Fry etc…were made by debutante directors. Moreover, I will be shooting with yet another debutante very soon. The list simply goes on you see... Ugly Aur Pagli looks too cool, vibrant, and energetic. So, what's it that gives Ranvir an all-time high in real life? The film's not just vibrant and energetic, it's also quirky. I find that as an interesting combination. As far as what drives me, the answer is MOVIES! I am extremely passionate about making movies. What was it about the role that made you sign the dotted line? The answer is Rangita Nandy. Like I said, Ugly Aur Pagli is a romantic comedy, but very much unlike what one has seen so far. This one's very different and strange and I think that it is this aspect that will make up as its USP. It's something that Bollywood has never witnessed before! Now, we feel is the right time to talk about your role in Ugly Aur Pagli. Well, I play the role of Kabir Achrekar, the only child of a middle class Maharashtrian parents. He's a spoilt child basically, so much so that he's getting complacent and he's studying engineering for three more years than he should be. And the film is about when he meets this girl (Mallika Sherawat) and then what happens! How was it working in PNC's Ugly Aur Pagli, as a full-fledged hero, as compared to your role in Pyaar Ke Side Effects? I would like to call it as a 'Promotion' (from being a sidekick in Pyaar Ke Side Effects to a hero in Ugly Aur Pagli). As I said, I really like Rangita a lot, but she can be a nag sometimes. And it is because of her, that I signed the film. As far as Mallika was concerned, she was simply fabulous. I would like to call it as a 'Promotion' (from being a sidekick in Pyaar Ke Side Effects to a hero in Ugly Aur Pagli) Honestly speaking Ranvir, tell us if you were the first choice for this film? That's what I told you na! I didn't hear of any other hero being approached for this role. But if you hear anything, please do let me know so that I can take it up with Rangita (laughs). Let's talk about the music of the film. Its peppy and groovy tracks simply intoxicate the listeners. In other words, the listeners are going 'Talli' over the music. What's your rave-fave from the album? I simply love the all the songs of the album. But the three songs that are really close to me are 'Talli' (but obviously), 'Ye Nazar' (which was shot in Goa), and a sad song called 'Yaad Aaye' sung by Mohit. What all locations were used to shoot this film? We shot all over Bombay (mostly South Bombay) and Goa. And needless to say shooting in Goa was real fun! Click above for more stills Have you sung any songs in the film? No! I decided to spare the audiences (laughs) You have worked with Mallika Sherawat so closely, first in Pyaar Ke Side Effects and now in Ugly Aur Pagli. Is there anything about her that the readers don't know but should know? Yes. What one should know is that Mallika is very, very intelligent and in a business where it's extremely difficult for anyone (especially a woman) to have an identity of her own. She has not only managed to achieve that, but has also done it on her own terms. And people should respect her for that. Are you aware of the rumors that Mallika is planning to patent her name? I really don't know that. But she is always up to something or the other. Any funny incident/s that you cannot forget during the shoot of Ugly Aur Pagli? Top of mind recall is the incident that had taken place in Goa. It was a sequence where I am riding a scooter, Mallika is sitting behind me, and some guys on bikes zoom past us. That's when Mallika comes in the front and takes charge of the scooter. She zoomed off so nicely at the start but when the shot got over; we realized that she doesn't know how to stop the bike. Mallika was screaming her lungs out. So, as always (tugging his collar), I came to her rescue and took charge of the bike. Then once during shoot we came across a cow (lying on the road) which suddenly got wild and agitated with the zooming and honking sounds of the bikes. To add to the confusion, Mallika thought that the cow was running after her! Eventually, as they say, all's well that ends well. The cow went on its way and we had a hearty laugh. What does Ranvir do when he is not shooting or reading scripts? I watch movies, listen to music, and also play music. I like reading a lot (even though I am a lazy reader). I am also into gadgets. So, you will find me spending my time with gadgets. If you were to rename the film Ugly Aur Pagli then what would you call it? Nothing! I would not like Ugly Aur Pagli to be renamed. I want it to remain as Ugly Aur Pagli. The film has a unique tagline '99 Slaps and 1 Kiss'. Is it really true that there are 99 slaps and just 1 kiss? Dude, that's just a tagline yaar! Looking back in history, how do you see your transformation from VJ Ranvir to Actor Ranvir? Honestly speaking, I just do my job, whatever is assigned to me. As somebody has rightly said 'Life is what you make of it when you are busy making other plans'. This holds very true in my case. Irrespective of what job I take, I try to be honest and sincere in every said task. And every time you begin to start getting complacent and start settling down; life presents you with a fresh set of new and exciting challenges! Any regrets so far? There maybe a few. But then, as Frank Sinatra said, 'Maybe a few. But I did it my way.' One just can't help notice that you have put on quite some weight. Huh? Yup! I have put on 12 kgs for my role in Rajat Kapoor's film A Rectangular Love Story (working title) where I am paired opposite Gul Panag. Newcomer Gunjan, Purab Kohli, Neil Bhoopalan (VJ turned actor) also feature in the film. If you were offered a role opposite some XYZ as your counterpart and you feel that only Vinay Pathak can do full justice to that role, will you recommend his name to the director? If the script merits it, then yes. I will surely do that, since I consider that the underlined rule of Bollywood is, 'SCRIPT IS KING'. Talking about 'King', you have Singh Is Kinng coming up and many more releases. I have Singh is Kinng coming up in August, wherein I play Katrina's boyfriend, then, there's Good Luck followed by I am 24 with Neha Dhupia and Manjari Phadnis, followed by Chandni Chowk To China, a film where I play a Chinese astrologer. After that, I have Teesri Manzil with Irrfan Khan and Deepal Shaw. That'll be followed up with Pandu PhD (tentative title), David Dhawan's Do Knot Disturb, Tina Ki Chaabi and Minty Tejpal's Tyre Puncture Adventures Of Fanta Cola with Vinay Pathak as my co-star.

Innumerable slaps and slurpy kisses for Ranvir Shorey on the same Friday

It's a strange place to be in. Ranvir Shorey has two releases on the same Friday, August 1. While in Ugly Aur Pagli he gets endlessly slapped by Mallika Sherawat, in Good Luck which opens the same day, Ranvir runs around smooching the whole world quite democratically. "It's a film about lucky kisses. So yes, there're lots of kisses. How many? You think I was counting? I really don't think the kisses are a big deal. The kisses are a device to pass on the good luck from one character to another. Hope the good luck passes on to the film as well. Honestly, I just have a cameo in the film. The producer came to me with a part he thought only I could play. It's the role of a gigolo," Ranvir says with a straight face. Ranvir has earlier played a male street-walker in Madhur Bhandarkar's Traffic Signal. Ranvir calls Ugly Aur Pagli his "big one". "It isn't the first time I'm playing the lead. I've done it twice before. And I don't at all resent the fact that Mallika is grabbing all the attention. She is a bigger star. I'm quite happy letting her be in the limelight. Very frankly, no film can sell on my strengths, whatever they may be. Ugly Aur Pagli is a very quirky comedy. Mallika plays a bit of a bully. She slaps me around. I don't mind being slapped by her as long as the film works." Ranvir was at the Osian Film Festival last week. But had to return before his film Mumbai Cutting where he features in one of the ten segments, could be screened. "I had shooting back in Mumbai. Can you believe it? I couldn't attend my own screening. I'm quite happy with the volume of work I'm doing. And if I've two releases in two weeks it's just a matter of chance. I'm still finishing one movie at a time. Actually, I've three releases in a month. I've Singh Is Kinng on August 5. I play Katrina's boyfriend. And I'm one of the non-Sardars. I'm the guy Akshay steals Katrina from. I'm quite happy with my career right now. I'm booked for the next one year for back-to-back. Personally too, my life couldn't be better." Ranvir is also very happy with I Am 24. "It has Rajat Kapoor in the lead and is directed by Saurabh Shukla. I play Rajat's bullshitting best friend. I don't mind doing supporting roles. Often they're more interesting than the lead. So why should I let them go?"

Sharmila Tagore to make her debut in Marathi cinema

After having won cine-goers' hearts with her performances in many Hindi films, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore would now be seen making her debut in a Marathi film. The film will be directed by noted actor-director Amol Palekar. Although the actress says that it's not a very meaty part, the thrill of working in a Marathi film for the first time made her give the green signal. For Sharmila, the first challenge would be in getting the language right since Marathi is not her mother-tongue. However, the actress is ready to learn the language for her character in the film. In fact, considering her director Amol Palekar himself is a Maharashtrian, learning Marathi won't be such a tough task after all.

Tigmanshu Dhulia's Govinda starrer titled Con Flick

Govinda's next film which is being directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia has finally found a title for itself. As per reliable sources, the film is being titled Con Flick. Now that's quite an interesting title for the film since it features Govinda as a conman. Confirms the source attached to the film's crew, "Though a formal announcement would be made shortly, Tigmanshu has more or less closed on Con Flick as the film's title. It is a fun film and since the lead protagonist is a conman here, it made sense to have the kind of a name which justifies the essence of the subject." Tigmanshu Dhulia, who has earlier directed films like Haasil and Charas (both starring Jimmy Sheirgill in the lead), has another ace up his sleeves in the form of Rimi Sen who would be playing an obese woman weighing as much as 160 kilos. She plays Govinda's love interest and the film promises to showcase some amazing chemistry between a young obese girl and a not-so-young man. Also starring Vidya Malavade and Kabir Bedi in principal roles, Con Flick is quite a departure for Dhulia who in the past has been labeled as a filmmaker with a knack for making hard hitting films, courtesy Haasil and Charas. This time around, he takes a comic route by roping in Govinda, the uncrowned king of comedy and Rimi Sen, who has 'seriously' made a great impression with comic portrayal of a gold digger in recently released De Taali. It should be quite en eventful journey for Tigmanshu Dhulia from this point because while he heads for the shoot of Con Flick, he already has wrapped up the principal shoot of Shagird which stars Nana Patekar, Anurag Kashyap and Mohit Ahlawat in lead along with Rimi Sen (again)! Some of the other films to be directed by Dhulia which were announced in the months gone by but are yet to see some progress are Fame (Sunil Shetty, Govinda, Kay Kay Menon, Anjori Alag), Ghayal 2 (Sunny Deol, Om Puri) and Ghulami (Sunny Deol, Sameera Reddy). However, one hopes that after being in the wait for years, Dhulia does manage to mark a comeback with Con Flick and Shagird.

"It was great dressing up Imran and Genelia" - Ashley Rebello

Ashley Rebello is not an unknown name in the film industry or fashion circles. In the circuit for 15 years and having worked with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Mallika Sherawat, Sushmita Sen, Karisma Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Sonali Bendre amongst others, Ashley is now busy collecting bouquets for his work in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na that is creating a fashion storm. The apparels have been loved by one and all with the school and college going crowd lapping up his designs. Ashley admits that it was fun dressing up the youngsters for Abbas Tyrewala directed Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Recollecting the times when he started working on the designs, Ashley reveals, "It was great dressing up Imran, Genelia and other members of the film's cast. The idea was to play it simple without going overboard. The challenge was to not have anything overtly plain to being flashy. A lot went into designing Imran's look but a sweetheart that he is, he was a complete sport to whatever I gave him to wear. He never came with an impression that he is working in his uncle's film so he could behave as a star. He surrendered himself completely." How about Genelia? "For her I had to design two contrasting looks", says Ashley, "As you would have certainly noticed, when she is hanging out with her friends, she is casual with a layered clothing. She wears young tops, capris, slacks, the stuff that a college-goer is made of. However, when she is out in a formal gathering (remember the scene where she goes out with her finance for the first time), she wears long gowns with an entirely different hairdo and makeup. I had to try something new, different yet girlish. The transition that comes in her also had to be demonstrated gradually through her clothes." Ashley goes on to add that when it came to Nirav Mehta and Karan Makhija (the guys who play Gujju and Rotlu), he had a blast. He could go casual as well as slightly flashy. Basically, it had to go as per the mood that the characters found themselves in. On the other hand, for Alishka Varde (Boms), he made sure that in line with her lovey-dovey persona, she carried the color pink with her throughout. Any regrets? "Well, Renuka Kunzru - the girl who plays Mala (Gujju's girlfriend) - has a constant complain that the jeans I designed for her could never be seen by the audience", smiles Ashley, "Even though she appears in quite a few scenes at the airport throughout the film, only her black top is seen. Most of her shots have been in close-ups due to which only upper half of the body is visible. Maybe if I work with her again, I will insist with the director that he captures her in frames that project her entire attire!"
