However, that doesn't stop Bebo and Saif from doing more films together and the coming year is a proof of that. The film will be produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd. Today, television audiences are used to seeing Aamir resplendently suited booted, gliding over a red carpet at glittering Bollywood soirees. Audiences, critics, and the jury of many prestigious award functions alike are awed by Aamir Khan's conviction, dedication, and emotional power as an actor, producer, and a director. And with his third production, Jaane Tuâ¦Ya Jaane Na, releasing tomorrow world wide, the mutli-talented Khan yet again sets out to prove that he is the master of all in this very short but an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel just hours before the star studded premiere of his film in Mumbai. Looks like your Taare's are shining bright ever since you touched Lagaan. I wish you could pass on some of that touch to me. What do your astrologers say? (Laughs) I don't know. We've tried to make a good film. I think that I'm quite happy with the way it's turned out and waiting to see how the audience reacts to it. This is your first production with you not a part of the cast. Did Ghajini take a lot of your time or Taare Zameen Par? TZP. I was directing Taare Zameen Par when Jaane Tu was being shot. So when I took over as the director of Taare, I realized that I'd not be able to fully shoulder my responsibilities as a producer on Jaane Tu⦠nor did I think of acting in it because it was entirely up to the casting director and the director whom they think is the right choice. So I requested Mansoor to take care of the production and he was there looking after the cast and the crew during the shoot stages. Of course, I was there if there were any problems. But as soon as Taare finished, I was there to look after the post production and the marketing plan for Jaane Tu. You seem to be like Imran's shadow. Everywhere Imran goes, you follow. Then what was the reason for your absence in London? (Laughs). I would not like to be described as Imran's shadow. Being the producer of the film, I have been a part of promoting Jaane Tu⦠and that's what I am doing. So if I accompany Imran, Abbas, or Genelia, I can't be tagged as their shadow. Infact, I'm the shadow of Jaane Tu. But yes, If I was free, I'd have definitely come to London but unfortunately, I was shooting for Ghajini at that time. I would not like to be described as Imran's shadow. I'm the shadow of Jaane Tu. Not convinced with Amol Gupte's direction, you took over as a director for Taare. That was past. But we also know that you gave 5 scenes to Abbas to shoot for Jaane Tu⦠before you could say Yes to him. Have you now started screen testing directors? Infact, after my experience on Taare, I told Abbas to shoot five scenes to see how he fares as a director. Jaane Tu at that time had not begun their filming. So I requested Abbas because he had never directed a film before. I am pretty sure that I would like to see any new director taking up my project to shoot four or five scenes, whether it's Abbas or anybody else. But if there was an established director, I would not have done that. What if you did not like all the five scenes or liked two or three of them? Was the back up ready? Or were you prepared to jump into the directors seat? If any of the five scenes were not directed well by Abbas, I would not have gone ahead with the project even though I loved the script. And that is true. But Abbas proved me wrong. I remember you and Raj Zutshi used to stick the posters of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak on the auto-rickshaws outside Mithibai College in Mumbai by stopping them. That was marketing in 1988. How much do you think marketing has evolved or will do in the near future? I think it has changed dramatically from then to now. In 1988, there was only one channel, Doordarshan, and the main line newspapers and magazines did not do much reporting on entertainment nor was there any news on the front pages about films. The media had not completely evolved then. But entertainment in particular has now become a huge part of reporting and news. So while the times have changed, the level of challenges remain the same. In the late 1980's we didn't have enough means to promote the film so we tried to do it the best we could. Today you have a lot of means but you could do it completely wrong. So even if you have the tools in today's time but you don't use them well, it can go against you. You can market the film really badly or people can sense from your marketing that they don't want to see your film. If any of the five scenes were not directed well by Abbas, I would not have gone ahead with the project even though I loved the script. But Abbas proved me wrong. All your films from Lagaan days to Rang De Basanti to Taare Zameen Par and now Jaane Tu have seen fresh young faces. Is that something you'd like to see with all your films or you being a part of it? No, it's not a conscious effort. I think it really depends on what kind of script you're doing and it's requirement. You're forgetting that Rani was there in Mangal Pandey. She was an established star. So was Amisha Patel. And I did Fanaa with Kajol. So it's not as if I'm not working with established actors. It really depends from project to project. While the film was being made and after it's completion, did it take you back to your QSQT days? (Laughs). Not really. I think Jaane Tu is quite a different film in it's own way even though it's a romantic film and it stars new actors, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was a film which was much more dramatic in its flavor and its content. Yes, seeing Mansoor behind the camera after a sabbatical did make us interact the QSQT days. There are many successful music directors like Pritam and Vishal Shekhar too who are on the top of their game, then why go with A.R. Rahman just because he has been a part of your earlier films? You don't think A.R. Rahman is on top of his game. (Laughs out loud). I am very happy with the kind of music he has given to Jaane Tu and I'm so glad that he is a part of the film. But I have worked with other people as well. Taare Zameen Par had Shankar Ehsaan Loy and you know the music was so different and soothing to your ears. It was a new experience for them too. But as I said earlier, it depends on project to project and there might be times when I would like to work with A.R. Rahman and he is busy with other projects. I've not worked with Pritam but his work is nice and has given extremely successful music off late. So if any opportunity arises, I'd definitely like to work with Pritam. Seeing Mansoor behind the camera after a sabbatical did make us interact the QSQT days. On the posters and media pack, we have seen Imran wearing the same yellow striped tie you wore in your film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. What else has he nicked from your wardrobe? (Laughs) Well, he keeps grabbing my jackets, t-shirts and other stuff. But yes, you pointed out right. That was the same tie I wore in my film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Any message you'd like to convey to your audience who are not your fans now. They are fans of Aditi. (Laughs) As I said, we've made a film that we believed in and have really put in our best. I hope the audience too enjoys seeing it as much as we enjoyed making it.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 4 Jul 2008 | 11:14 am After Fashion, its Jail for Madhur BhandarkarAfter finishing #34Fashion#34, Madhur Bhandarkar will make a hard-hitting film on...Source: India News | 4 Jul 2008 | 10:52 am Lohan plays `passive wife` in relationship with gal pal Ronson - Zee News

"Not hair-styling, mind you. I don't want to learn the barber's art from some posh salon in a 7-star hotel. That kind of hair cutting I know already. I've done it to my kids. The bonafide Barbers hold the scissors in a different manner and the way they hold the customer's hair is different. I am actually going to sit with a roadside Barber and observe him at work. As soon as I finish learning you'll be the first person whose hair I'll cut and then probably Shah Rukh Khan who's my co-star in Billo Barber." He has already started shooting for the film. "We complete the film by July." Irrfan is hugely kicked about this co-star. "Shah Rukh is such a sport. He called me and said 'I'll dance in the film while you do the acting'. He's so comfortable in his space. I want to learn that from him. I want to be comfortable in my surroundings. That's the only plan I have for my career." Irrfan was longing to work with Priyadarshan. "I saw his recent film Kanjeevaram. Excellent film. If he has been doing a spate of comedies it's because that was the market's demand. Billo Barber will take him into a different league. It's a very moving story." Irrfan admits he had to act restrained in his most recent release Krazzy 4. "When we were shooting there were moments when I had to hold myself back. They wanted to focus more on the story. Many of my proposed scenes were eliminated. But I've no complaints. Krazzy 4 is popular with kids. I always wanted to do a film that kids would love. I've been doing too many grownup films." So why doesn't Irrfan direct a film? "Only when it comes naturally to me. I'll only direct when I find a story so compelling that I want to share it with the audience. It may come very soon," signs off Irrfan.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Jul 2008 | 9:48 am Love Story 2050 - SantaBanta.com

This is what one saw in 2008 as well, which hasn't really seen great box office returns but has been a witness to some decent performances. We look forward to far more eventful second half of the year though! [In alphabetical order] Akshay Kumar [Tashan] 'Maa, Picture To Achchi Thi Par Main Flop Ho Gaya' - So were the famous opening words of Akshay Kumar at the recently held IIFA, where he was spoofing the box office failure of Tashan. Of course he was kidding when he said so because in reality it was just the opposite. Akshay Kumar was the best part about this Yash Raj Film for which gigabytes have already been spent on its countless weaknesses. It is to the credit of Akshay Kumar though that he still lighted up the proceedings whenever he appeared on the frame. Have a full fledged 'Ramleela' that takes on from where his 'Ravan' act left and we won't really mind a sequel to Tashan. Amitabh Bachchan [Sarkar Raj, Bhoothnath] After Cheeni Kum in 2007, Amitabh Bachchan was again seen playing a pivotal role in Bhoothnath. Though Sarkar Raj didn't quite have him roaring the way he did in the prequel, the pre-climax and the climax sequences reinforced the fact that Big B's presence in a project can never be discounted. He may have been getting some nasty reviews for his performances in a section of media while the other may not be really happy with him getting into an angry old man mould with his Blogs, but who really minds that? Getting to sink his teeth into something unconventional with Bhoothnath while also making sure that third in the series of Sarkar Raj may just have a lot more of him, Amitabh Bachchan continues to make a statement. Bipasha Basu [Race] One still doesn't know whether Bipasha Basu was indeed in love with Saif Ali Khan when both walked away into sunset in the climax of Race. Such was the beauty of the role that she enacted so very well that one continues to be intrigued about this lady who got together elements of Ajnabee as well as Jism and bluffed the audience from the first till the last frame of the film. Carry on with stylish roles like these lady; we would love to see much more of you in the coming years! Ajay Devgans [U Me Aur Hum] After going through their share of conventional love stories with Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and Raju Chacha, Ajay and Kajol Devgan had to do something really path breaking with their prestigious U Me Aur Hum. First half of the film was hardly path breaking but Devgans caught the bull by its horns the moment they got into a dramatic mould. With a complex subject revolving around Alzheimer's disease, the film could have fallen flat had the performances been any weaker but Devgans made sure that they give it all to a film which was a complete in-house product. Emraan Hashmi [Jannat] Emraan Hashmi's top performance would always stay on to be Awarapan but 5 years down the line when his successful films would be listed; Jannat would be remembered more. This year's biggest hit if one considers the ROI (Return on Investment) factor, Jannat also owes its success to the fact that Hashmi played to the gallery and gave his audience what they expect out of him. He used his mischievous streak to the maximum and didn't mind playing the bad-good young man yet again! Hrithik Roshan [Jodhaa Akbar] From sheer effort perspective, Hrithik would lead the charge for giving his all to make sure that his 'Akbar' act looked convincing enough on the big screen. It is quite a difficult task to leave behind an image created by a Krrish or a Dhoom 2 but Hrithik still managed to achieve that and the results were seen. Hrithik worked hard on his diction, body language and presentation and succeeded well. Second half of the year could see numerous good performances coming in but Hrithik would still find himself as one of the Top-5 contenders for the Best Actor. Rahul Bose [Shaurya] If Hrithik made a big impression in a big film like Jodhaa Akbar, Rahul Bose too achieved something similar in one of the smallest films of the year so far! Rahul has been a consistent performer ever since the days of Thakshak and though a notable act by him is a given for each of his films, Shaurya was special. Not just did the film feature him as a central protagonist, it also allowed him to demonstrate various facets of his personality. The film not only turned out to be a 'choti si success story' but also further increased the fan base of Rahul Bose. Rajeev Khandelwal [Aamir] In a year, which has seen some inconsequential, debuts so far (with only Sikandar Kher coming close), Rajeev Khandelwal has made everyone stand up and take notice of his bravura performance in Aamir. And to think of it, this by no means was a conventional 'hero' debut since Rajeev was shown as a man on the run for the entire length of the film who ultimately turns into a victim of circumstances. One just hopes now that Rajeev continues to make good choices and instead of being slotted as a 'thinking actor', he gets to play a variety of characters in films to come! Ranvir Shorey [Mithya] Talking about 'thinking men' and enacting the role of a 'fall guy', Ranvir Shorey was just perfect in Mithya. Yet again, he played a character who was a victim of circumstances and got embroiled in a series of events which ultimately led to his downfall. If at all an actor has come close to getting Charlie Chaplinsque comic-tragedy on screen in Bollywood, it has been Ranvir with Mithya. He is a man for all seasons, an ingredient for all recipes and an actor who can be handed over any part! Riteish Deshmukh [De Taali] Everyone loves Riteish. And there would hardly be anyone who could dislike his performance. Or to put it differently, there is hardly a reason why anyone would love to hate him! He is a man who can be trusted to give a good performance every time and the same happened very recently with De Taali too. Consistently delivering successful films year after year and upping his popularity quotient with every release of his, Riteish has been quietly forming an alternative market for himself.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 3 Jul 2008 | 3:24 pm Shilpa takes violin lessons for 'The Man'Actress-cum-yoga guru Shilpa Shetty is now learning to play the violin for her role in Sunny Deol's 'The Man'.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 3 Jul 2008 | 1:01 pm "I never really saw myself as an actor" - Imran KhanHe is definitely not muscular and popular as yet. But he for sure is a spectacular bachelor. I'm talking about the newest entrant in Hindi cinema, Imran Khan. On meeting this shy guy in London last weekend, while promoting his debut film Jaane Tuâ¦Ya Jaane Na, he came across as a person who has no airs of being Aamir Khan's nephew. A true lover who has no qualms in talking about his relationship with Avantika, a bit of a pessimist who thinks that he has not done justice to his role in Jaane Tu, his fascination with the pubs in London and why is he not looking forward for the lavish premiere of his debut film. In this special interview, Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel brings to you some not known startling revelations about Imran, Jaane Tu⦠and much more. I know it's too early to ask you this question but looks like the Khan brigade isn't stopping to dominate. Where do you see yourself after the release of Jaane Tu? I honestly have no idea. You know, as you said that I am not muscular and popular. These are part of the reasons why I never really saw myself as an actor. All this is so different for me. And even the film that we've made is pretty different from that. It's the people who will decide my future after the release of Jaane Tu. My future is out there. I never really saw myself as an actor It's strange where your career can take you. You've studied direction but we now see you as an actor. Why don't you pursue what you've actually studied? One word answer to that is, Abbas Tyrewala. It is just that simple. I wanted to be a director. I've studied in L.A. And worked there for a while. I came back to Mumbai and was meeting people to find work. And throughout all this, I met Abbas. We just really clicked from day one. I loved the script and my character and he was so convinced that I was the right guy for it that I went with it. Abbas just shifted me away from direction but that is not to say that I won't go back to direction. It's on the cards but just don't know when. All the video interviews you've done have shown that you've been brought up in shadows of your mamu, Aamir Khan, but in films you need to break away from that shadow. You're absolutely right. Having said that, I haven't' shot a single interview with Aamir (laughs). Of course, you have to create your own identity and that is happening in the film as it is. Aamir has no presence in the film and ultimately if people like the film, they will hopefully like me. Aamir has no presence in the film and ultimately if people like the film, they will hopefully like me You've thanked your girlfriend Avantika and have felt no harm in disclosing your relationship to the media. But was that necessary? I feel it was necessary at a personal level. To me, when there is someone who is a major part of your life, to hide that, personally, it is a dishonest thing to do. Secondly, it is very disrespectful. When I've been seeing her for the past six years and then to pretend for the sake of my career that she is not my girlfriend is a very impolite thing to do to a woman. When I've been seeing her for the past six years and then to pretend for the sake of my career that she is not my girlfriend is a very impolite thing to do to a woman. We've seen your childhood pictures now where Aamir combs your hair and you're sitting on his lap and many more. Are you at all worried of letting your mamu down? No, I am not. It's not that he has certain expectations from me. He just believes that you have to find your own way. He made his own destiny and I have to do the same, not for anyone else, but for me. He's there to support me as my uncle and will always wish the best for me. But somehow down the line I know that I want to keep his head up and mine through Jaane Tu. Tomorrow if nothing works out for me, he is not going to feel let down. We've also seen you mention in a light hearted way that Aamir used to use you to impress girls. Do you think he can still do it, now that now you are a handsome hunk? Not a chance. He doesn't have hope now. There have been quite a few college capers in the past, which haven't clicked at the box office in the U.K but have worked well in India. What are Jaane Tu's chances in both the markets? We haven't made Jaane Tu primarily for the Indian market and nor have we made the film for the overseas market. The aim is to make a film that people will like generally and when I say generally, I just don't mean the Hindi film audience. Ideally, the film should appeal to anyone because it speaks about universal emotions. It speaks about the time when you're young, you're in college, and you think that if this girl doesn't like me, my world is over. That's a universal thing. And again, once you graduate and get a bit older and a little more mature, you realize that it wasn't such a big deal. You get over it. That again is universal. Ideally, the film should appeal to anyone because it speaks about universal emotions Every Aamir Khan film coming out since Lagaan has given a meaningful message. Will Jaane Tu continue along the same level? No, not at all. Aamir has said so in as many words that not every film has to have a message. Some of them do and it's always great. But a lot of films are just entertaining films. They just tell you a nice story and that's really what Jaane Tu is all about. There is no social message to it. Jaane Tu has no social message to it. The media has spoken a lot about you, Abbas, Aamir, and A.R. Rahman. But no one seems to see the other four college goers on the posters. They haven't got due credit I guess. That is really the nature of publicity. Sadly, my name will carry a lot more weight despite my having as much experience as the rest of them. They are all first timers and people are just more interested in hearing about me. It's good you have pointed this thing out. But I do feel that once people see the film, they'll realize how talented the rest of them are. Abbas put a lot of care, thought and effort into casting every single one of these actors. Their characters at a screenplay level are very well edged. They are not caricatures or junior artists. Did Abbas do anything different with you guys in terms of preparation for your individual roles? You guessed it right man! Abbas took all six of us plus Manju, who is not in the poster, to Panchgani and we spent about a week or ten days there doing workshops. He put the boys in one room and the girls in a separate room. He told us to live together and learn to deal with one another and wanted us to come out eventually as a team. We did scene breakdowns, team-building exercises and came out of it as one unit. We were like a team, which works perfectly, and the chemistry was just remarkable. Abbas took all six of us plus Manju, to Panchgani and we spent about a week or ten days there doing workshops. He told us to live together and learn to deal with one another and wanted us to come out eventually as a team. It's not only a debut for you in Jaane Tu but a debut for you in London too. Have you been to London before? Anything you like about London. Anywhere you go for your shopping. London has always been kind of in transit for me. I spend a day or two every time I come here. Even today as we talk, I'm flying to Dubai for the next leg of promotions world wide. I've never spent enough time here to know the places properly or go to the places where people usually go. But the one thing that attracts me to London is its Beer. I do love the British Pubs. I love its ambience. I am not a nightclub person but I love pubs and bars. They are really chilled out, comfortable and more sociable. Genelia is the most experienced of the lot. Any advice or tips you got from her as a senior? No. Our working styles are very different. Genelia tends to approach things a lot more spontaneously. She doesn't really put that much thought into it but I do. She would learn her lines and she would do the scene as it came naturally. I'd tend to figure out things like how I'm going to sit, then get up, then take two steps back, etc. But that's what I learnt from Genelia by observing her act, by observing her moves on the sets. Genelia tends to approach things a lot more spontaneously. What's next in the pipeline? I've finished my second film which is called Kidnap directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. It's a suspense thriller and I'm playing a grey character. I hate saying grey character because it's so over used. It's now in the editing process and postproduction. And the film is releasing on October 2. My third film, which I have just started, is called Luck directed by Soham. The one who made Kaal. It's an action adventure type of a film, which stars Shruti Hassan, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa and Sanjay Dutt. Has Aamir, your mamu, ever approached you for a role in any of his forthcoming productions? We all know that he likes working with new comers who've got bundle of talent. He does really look at it from a script point of view. So he'll look at what film he's producing at that time and think that if Imran fits the role well, I'll first have to audition for it. He will not think of taking me for any film just because I am his nephew. Let's talk about the big premiere night everyone is talking about. Looking forward for the biggest day of your life? I am not looking forward to it at all. Premieres are scary things. I've got my suit made which I'll have to wear for the premiere. I mean, I've never in my life put on a suit. My stylist is Harmeet. I don't go for any designer brands. I did try it on. Looks good but I can't move after wearing it. I am a more jeans and a t-shirt kind of a guy. So I am a little apprehensive about spending the entire evening like that. I've never in my life put on a suit, so I am a little apprehensive about spending the entire evening like that. Is Shammi Kapoor saab also attending the premiere? No, I don't think so. He is not very well. We did ask him but he said that he would not be able to make it. We will be organizing a special screening for him somewhere near his house because he lives in South Mumbai and the premiere is a two hour journey from his house and we wouldn't make him come a long way for that. Is there anything you'd want to share with us as you're in London for the first time for your first film as an actor? Yes. I just recalled that the tie, which I'm wearing in the song 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala', was purchased from London. It's a zip tie and that's what I am wearing. Infact, if you see one of my pictures in the promotions and in the small booklet inserted in the CD cover, I'm seen wearing a white shirt with a yellow striped tie. You know what? That is the same tie, which Aamir mamu wears as a Model college student in the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. It was his tie but I have now taken it. Even the crew cut blue t-shirt I wear in the posters including the belt and the jeans are mine. They're my personal outfits, and so are the canvas shoes in the film I wear. Many of the outfits in the film are my own because Abbas didn't want any branded Dolce and Gabbana kind of outfits. The tie, which I'm wearing in the song 'Pappu can't dance saala', is the same tie, which Aamir mamu wears as a Model college student in the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. Any regrets after doing the film. Anything you'd change in your performance now that you see yourself on the television? As a personality, I tend not to like any of the work I do. I still don't. I don't like the work I've done in the film. When I see it, I see it for the small mistakes I've made which should have been avoided. But that's my take. It's up to Abbas and Aamir to judge me at the end of the day. I'm never really going to be happy. Being your debut film, it seems as if you're not at all excited about it? Yes, you are right. I'm not excited at all. But that's for another reason. It's just because I'm kind of numb on this whole front. It's not that the film is bad. I do think that it's a good film. So let the film release and we'll see what excitement remains. I'm not excited at all What is that one advice of your mamu, which still lingers in your mind as we are talking? I will never forget his personal yet professional advice - Find your own way. From choosing your director and script, learn everything the hard way. He has never read my scripts of Kidnap and Luck, nor have I approached him with it.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 3 Jul 2008 | 12:57 pm Rohit Shetty to direct Ajay Devgan in yet another filmDirector Rohit Shetty's association with actor Ajay Devgan is well known.
