Singh Is Kinng is in the news for all the right reasons. Starring the top-notch actors and comedians, the film is on a roll and definitely much awaited. Akshay Kumar has been having a blockbuster streak and Singh Is Kinng is also expected to go the same way.
' Bas Ek Singh ' track of the movie, Singh is Kinng is already gaining popularity among the masses, this lavishly picturized Punjabi hip hop number is said to be the soul of the movie and justifies the title of the film to the perfection.
When we quizzed Akshay Kumar, the lead actor of Singh is Kinng, what he thought of the track, he says, "'Bas Ek Singh' song is very niceâ¦Sardars are always made fun of in our films, so I wanted to show what Sardars are and this song supports my thinking that 'Singh is Kinng'".
Anees Bazmee completely feels that the credit goes to all in the team. The director of the film says, "A song comes out good only when everyone in the project feels equally passionate about the song as much as the music director does, in this case the end result is good because everyone who was a part of the song felt the passion and delivered the best."
When Vipul Shah started working on the project with Anees Bazmee, they both briefed Pritam on the music to be just like the title, king size. He says, "When we were thinking of the 'Bas Ek Singh' track, I told Pritam to think of the most energetic song in the world and then make a song of that caliber, then Pritam came up with this idea that lets do a Punjabi number in hip hop, a fusion never ever tried in Hindi films. We have used lot of lights in the song so that its glamour is spread all over the sets making it look more lavish."
Anees Bazmee seconds the producer says, "The songs in the film are picturized very beautifully and sumptuously and when the picturisation and the sound track comes together it creates magic." Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Jun 2008 | 1:43 pm

'One shouldn't get attached to the work you have done when it comes to filmmaking'
Well, self-admittedly Harman Baweja has learnt it the hard way. Even though he slogged it out in a big way to get his opening scene for his debut film Love Story 2050 just perfect, he was forced to swallow down his hurt when it was informed to him that the scene would not make it to the final cut.
Wasn't he disappointed? "Who won't be, you tell me,â questions Harman who still seems to be hurt about the fact even though the scene was canned months back, "No other scene can replicate the sense of the very first one that you shoot for. And to think of it, it required me to literally go through the grind due to extreme weather situation."
Really? "Yes,â says Harman whose debut vehicle is now less than a fortnight away from being unleashed on the big screen, "There I was in Australia where I was sitting on a yacht in the middle of the ocean. It was windy, temperature was around 8 degrees Celsius, and I was, believe it or not, completely drenched. Since there were quite a few takes required for the shot, I had to wet myself down repeatedly. From warm to cold to warm and so on, it indeed took a toll."
It must have been heartbreaking once the newsbreak about the scene being omitted was shared with him. "Of course yes,â promptly replies Harman, "It is after all your first day of work, and I not just stood there for the shot but also mouthed a few dialogues. It just taught me that one can't really get attached to one's work. It is situations like these which make you understand what filmmaking is all about and how you have to move on and give your best to every scene that you shoot for."
He concludes on a lighter note with a hearty laugh, "Considering how windy and cold it was when the scene was canned, perhaps dad (Harry Baweja) would have thought of it being a 'cold performance' indeed and hence chopped off the scene." A bespectacled 'serious' girl on a rigged rail yatra. She seems to have borrowed her demeanor from Kajol in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Preity Zinta in Kal Ho Na Ho. You know, studious bookish and grumpyâ¦It takes the exuberant won't-take-no-for-an-answer stranger on the train played by newcomer Nakuul Mehta to draw the prissy missy out of her frigid emotionalism. This girl is waiting to be liberated. Kaaton se khinch key yeh aanchal.
Enter our modern day Raju Guide with more on his mind than melodious music (considering the soporific quality of the songs, he has no choice). He thinks babbling non-stop is a symptom of joie de vivre. Just because extra-volubility suited Kareena in Jab We Met. I tell you! Helping the couple to come together is a train compartment filled with stereotypes, including one over-acting Bengali housewife (Bharti Achrekar), a kindly ticket collector (who behaves as if he just saw Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met and of course, Wes Anderson's Darjeeling Ltd and learnt his etiquettes in station mastery from them), dancing-singing beggars(in newly -stitched ghagra-cholis). And yes, Ajay Devgan and Kajol who clap a few beats at a railway platform and beat a hasty retreat. So, I am afraid, should we. Before we swear off romantic film forever. This tedious transparently derivate romance chugs on and on with no respite in sight. The songs are like opium for the snoring masses. Dope in drag.
As some relief in this snail rail trail, in flashbacks newcomer Adhyayan Suman shows up as the bespectacled girl's college lover-boy. He has a sweet sincere presence and should have had more to do in this loco-motivated talkathon shot most on the train parked at Kamalistan studios. The least you do in a travel film is to make the transportation and the locations look authentic. Director Anil Devgan makes this one purely an exercise in self-indulgence for matronly spinsters who still think Prince Charming is a artificially exhilarated dude in designer togs giving everyone in the compartment and in the audience a gala time.
Or so he'd like to believe. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 23 Jun 2008 | 10:07 am
