One of the most anticipated films of this year is Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Dilli 6 starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. While not much is known about the film or its premise, we came across this interesting picture where director Rakeysh and Sonam share a light moment on the sets of the film.
Wonder what Sonam is giggling about? Maybe they were planning to pull a prank on AB Jr. What say? Source: Indiafm.com Features | 18 Jun 2008 | 3:00 pm
Very few actresses get a chance to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in their very first film. Uvika Chaudhary is one such lucky girl. She debuted as Dolly in last year's smash hit Om Shanti Om. And despite not being the main lead, she made quite a few heads turn with her vivacious looks and bubbly image. Uvika is now back with her next flick Summer 2007 where she is paired with Sikandar Kher.
Bollywood Hungama brings you a chance to chat with the gorgeous actress as she talks about Summer 2007 and her future projects only on Bollywood Hungama's Celebrity Chat on Friday, June 20, at 1500 hrs IST. Source: Indiafm.com News | 18 Jun 2008 | 2:27 pm
The latest promos of Sarkar Raj say 'Sarkar Raj Hits Again' and hence it's no wonder that director Ram Gopal Varma is grinning from ear to ear. Bollywood Hungama spoke to the maverick director and asked him how life has been post Sarkar Raj, and his future projects. "It's been great so far. I don't know if the feeling is one of satisfaction or relief, but it surely isn't one of depression" he says in his trademark witty style.
Quiz him on the mixed reports and the fact that many people liked the first part (Sarkar) better and he replies, "I think comparisons are bound to be there whenever a sequel releases. Even when Godfather 2 came out, there were comparisons. But at the end of the day, it's the characters and their continuation which takes the story forward. It's not right to compare the two films. It's just like a new adventure in a series," says RGV.
There has also been a lot written and spoken about Ramu's plans of going ahead with the third part in the Sarkar series, especially as the film has an open ending. So how serious is the director in completing his trilogy and whom would he decide to cast in as Chikkoo?
"Yes, the film has made such an impact that the idea of making a third part is there in my mind, but as of now it's just an idea. We have not yet decided on how to take the plot forward, so it's too early to talk about the third part and its characters right now."
Ramu has also been hitting back at critics through his blog. So is that his way of answering his detractors? "My intention is not to hit back at anybody. I agree everyone has the right to have an opinion but critics are not someone who have been blessed by God or something like that. So they should be careful about what they are saying. I just felt that if they have an opinion, I too have an opinion on their opinion which I have expressed," replies the director.
Not one to rest on his past laurels, RGV is now busy with his next 2 films- Contract and Phoonk. The promos of Contract depict that it's an extension of the Satya, Company genre. "It's not an extension in the true sense. While Satya dealt with the inside view of the underworld and Company gave an overview of the underworld, Contract is basically about what happens when Underworld meets Terrorism. As for Phoonk, it's a supernatural thriller," says Ramu.
There has also been buzz doing the rounds that Ram Gopal Varma along with Ekta Kapoor is planning to make a film on the life of dreaded dacoit Veerappan. Is it true? "Yes, Ekta and I are making a film on the life and times of Veerappan but we are just the producers. The film is going to be written and directed by Prashant Pandey, who wrote Sarkar Raj. The film will track Veerappan from the time of him being just a skinny pale teenager to how he metamorphosed into an utmost cunning chameleonic monster. It will show his charismatic childlike behavior that made many men dismiss him off as a buffoon until he killed them. It will also tell the story of Muthulaxmi, the girl who fell in love with him. The film will detail how Veerappan came into crime, made the forest his home and established his rule from there. In short, it will be a film on the story of Veerappan's life and the men who killed him."
So, will the film star newcomers or established names? "It is very necessary to cast completely new actors to give the film a raw and realistic look, in the style of Satya. Most of the film is based in forests and rural areas. Prashant wants that the look and characters approximate a sense of reality. He believes that when the audience comes to see this film in theatres, they already know that it is a true story. They must have a first hand connection with the characters. This is required to maintain the authenticity of the film and the power of its telling."
And finally what about news that Veerappan's wife also had a meeting, discussing the film? "Veerappan's wife visited us. After listening to our intentions she gave us valuable inputs and insights into the true story of Veerappan and she is completely endorsing and standing by the project. The film will primarily cater to the national audiences but as Veerappan is known at an international level it is bound to arouse interest even outside India." signs off RGV. Rani Mukherjee and Karan Johar recently appeared on Shah Rukh Khan's game show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai? While the duo did entertain one and all with their antics, they also managed to win Rs. 50 lakhs, which they will be donating to charity.
This is not the first time that Rani Mukherjee was seen participating in a game show. It may be recollected that Rani had earlier appeared along with Preity Zinta on a special episode of SRK's Kaun Banega Crorepati. At that time also, the two beautiful actresses had won Rs. 50 lakhs and Mukherjee had donated her share (Rs.25 lakhs) to the Holy Family Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai, which was utilised in building ICU in the hospital.
Now the actress would be inaugurating the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) today and needless to say, the amount donated by Rani has indeed been used for a very noble cause. Source: Indiafm.com News | 18 Jun 2008 | 2:00 pm
The work on the sequel to the animation film My Friend Ganesha is complete. In My Friend Ganesha, the animated character Ganesha had learnt a few English words. So now, in the sequel, he plays a Westernised Ganesha; with a guitar in hand, donning Bermuda shorts, a tattoo and a cap and of course speaking more English words.
Recently, a huge set was erected at Filmistan Studios where director Rajiv S Ruia and choreographer Lollypop were picturising a song for the film. Director Rajiv S Ruia says that more or less, the entire technical crew, which was associated with the first part, has been retained; only the sequel is produced by renowned banner Baba Arts Limited, known for its multi-starcast blockbusters.
"While making the first part I and my writer Sachindra Sharma decided that if the film becomes a hit, we will go for its sequel. Since the film was a big hit, we made the sequel and now we will launch the third part," says Rajiv S Ruia.
My Friend Ganesha II, besides animated Ganesha, also features Master Ali, Harsh
Chhaya, Bhairavi Goswami, Suhasini Mulay, Sulbha Deshpande and Upasana
Singh. The film is produced by BABA Arts and is scheduled for release this July. Source: Indiafm.com News | 18 Jun 2008 | 1:06 pm
Post Jannat, director Kunal Deshmukh is on a high. And why not, after all, Jannat was one of the few films which managed to hit the bull's eye and that too bang in the middle of the IPL frenzy.
Kunal is now abroad taking a much needed break. However, he would be starting his next film after he returns. This film is a part of the 3 film deal that Kunal has signed with the Bhatts. The buzz is that this untitled film would star a rather unusual combination of Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan. Bollywood Hungama got in touch with Kunal who confirmed the news. "Yes, my next film for Vishesh Films would star Emraan and Soha. We are still working on the story but the premise is centered on a couple that gets stranded in the Mumbai floods," says the young and dynamic director.
With such an unusual pairing and an interesting premise one can only hope for yet another good film from Kunal Deshmukh. Source: Indiafm.com News | 18 Jun 2008 | 12:41 pm

Imran Khan is one lucky fellow. He has the most awaited dream debut to his credit with Aamir Khan's third production, Jaane Tuâ¦Ya Jaane Na after Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par. His uncle Aamir Khan is going head over heels to make his nephew's debut 'The debut of the year'.
Interestingly, both Mama - Bhanja have many things in common. Their debut films, i.e. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jaane Tuâ¦Ya Jaane Na respectively, are young and fresh romantic films. But one similarity between the two which very few people happen to know is that both of them started their career as assistant directors as they actually wanted to become filmmakers. Where Aamir assisted his uncle Nasir Hussain for two years before he did a screen test for his debut film, Imran too assisted various directors for some time before he gave a screen test for Jaane Tuâ¦Ya Jaane Na.
Now, after Aamir finally made his directorial debut with Taare Zameen Par, it won't come as a surprise if Imran directs films someday. For now though, we are keen to see his talent in the front of the camera. Source: Indiafm.com Features | 18 Jun 2008 | 11:17 am

Raj Santoshi is a very happy man. Belying all rumours of a fall-out with Ajay Devgan, Raj Santoshi is all set to make another film with his favourite actor. "We're just about to zero- in on the subject. It's a contemporary film, not the two period films on Emperor Ashok and the Ramayan that we were planning to do together. Those are on hold right now. For now Ajay and I are getting ready for another film, though I'll definitely make Ramayan and Ashok with him. But we haven't fallen out just because a couple of our films together haven't clicked. That's not how we work."
For now Raj is on another trip. "I'm finally starting Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir and Katrina from tomorrow (Wednesday). It's my first love story, though people seem to think it's an intense love story, which it is not. It has lots of very light very humorous moments. I haven't worked with Ranbir and Katrina before. So I'm really looking forward to that."
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is to be shot in Mumbai (from tomorrow) then Goa and finally Italy. "A lot of elements in Ranbir's character will remind people of his grandfather Raj Kapoor. I've worked with Ranbir's father in Damini. When I saw the boy in Saawariya I wanted to work with him immediately. Katrina and I were supposed to do a film that had Shahid in it. That didn't work out. This is a totally different subject."
Ask the director about Ranbir's reported remuneration of Rs 7 crores, and Raj shrugs. "That's between Ranbir and the producers Tips."
Oh one more thing. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani also stars Upen Patel. "It's a pivotal role. Upen expressed a desire to work with me. We met up. When I narrated the subject he fell in love with it. I'm working with an entirely new team including music composer Pritam. Source: Indiafm.com News | 18 Jun 2008 | 9:45 am

Heyy Babyy, Dhamaal, 'Apna Sapna Money Money, Malamaal Weekly - Riteish Deshmukh has been enjoying a pretty consistent outing at the box office over all these years. Ok, so there may have been occasional Cash but it too took a good opening before fizzling out after a week.
With a series of successful films under his belt, Riteish does feel that he is enjoying a good growth rate in his career. And when this also translates into mega bucks, it only reaffirms his box office standing.
"I guess I am doing quite fine career wise. As of today, I getting 4 times of what I used to get in 2007. My market rate has improved and the best part is that the price is being offered by people on their own", says Riteish who is slowly but steadily graduating to two hero films now, "It feels quite nice when reputed producers sign you for an X amount on their own without you having to go out there and push your case."
How about corporate deals in that case? Though he has been around for 5 years and now reasonably established, why hasn't the corporate 3/4/5 movie deal bug bit him yet? How come he is still content signing stand along films like Aladin And The Mystery Of The Lamp (Sujoy Ghosh), Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai (Mukesh Talreja, Nikhil Advani), Housefull (Sajid Nadiadwala) and Do Not Disturb (Vashu Bhagnani) with standalone producers?
"Yup, I know how the trend has caught up in a big way but somehow I do not feel as excited about being a part of the game as some my colleagues are", says Riteish, "I believe that one gets trapped on being a part of this entire deal business. I may want to do a particular film at a given point of time but may not be able to do it due to my deal being elsewhere. All of this somehow doesn't fit into my scheme of things. I may rather be a part of stand alone projects."
No wonder Riteish is quite confident about his upcoming film De Taali which sees a global release this Friday. Isn't he worried though that the film took close to 2 years to reach the finishing lines?
"Not at all", Riteish replies promptly, "No one has come to me and said that the film looks dated. And the fact remains that De Taali does carry a fresh look to it. It has been shot well, it looks good and the characters out there pretty much belong to today. I am very confident about De Taali clicking in a big way." HAAL-E-DIL is the most aggressively promoted film in recent times, no two opinions on that. And while the world waits with bated breath to see the three youngsters -- Amita Pathak, Nakuul Mehta and Adhyayan Suman -- the one person who's most nervous is producer Kumar Mangat. And he's nervous for two reasons.
Besides being the producer of the film, HAAL-E-DIL also happens to be the launch pad of his daughter Amita. So, obviously, his anxiety levels are very, very high. In fact, the producer is so nervous that he hasn't even watched the final print of the film. "The director [Anil Devgan] and the technical team watched the film last night. All producers should learn a lesson or two from Vipul Shah and Akshay Kumar. Sometime back, the industry was rife with rumors that the promotion of SINGH IS KINNG was stalled because of the objections raised by the Sikh community. "We had a special screening for the Sikh authorities not because they had objections, but because we didn't want to court controversies or problems at the time of release. We felt, if there are issues that need to be sorted out, they should be done at the very outset," Vipul Shah sets the record straight.
He continues in the same breath, "The committee suggested two changes, which will be carried out immediately. They've been extremely co-operative and supportive and we have their unconditional support." With people within and outside the industry looking at SINGH IS KINNG as the next blockbuster, the makers have only acted with utmost maturity and avoided any last-minute hiccups.
While on Vipul, there's talk that he has signed South actress Asin for LONDON DREAMS, which teams Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan after a hiatus. "Sure, I did meet Asin a couple of times and I admit, I am seriously considering her for my film. However, as of today, nothing is final," he states. Source: Indiafm.com News | 18 Jun 2008 | 7:19 am

This Saturday, Shahrukh Khan will be performing live-on-stage with Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Katrina Kaif, Javed Ali, Anushka Dandekar and Ganesh Hegde in Ahoy, Rotterdam. Temptation is back! Not only will be Dutch fans be joining the show, but several fans from European countries will fly in to see Shahrukh Khan and the other stars perform live. Here we have a short interview with a German fan called Ute. She is 48 years old and lives in Germany.
Why and when did you become fan of Shahrukh Khan?
I became a fan of Shahrukh Khan exactly on November 19, 2004, when K3G was shown on German TV for the first time. This man impressed me on first sight and the more I got to see and know about him, the more I adore this wonderful actor and human being. Admiring any artist is something that never happened to me before, even when I was in my teens. There has never been someone, who was worth it.
Have you ever met him before?
I've never met Shahrukh or any of the other stars.
What are your expectations of the show?
It will be a treat for the eyes for sure! Hopefully there will be a lot of interaction with the audience. Shahrukh is able to leave a crowd of 30,000 people spellbound, only by sitting on a wooden chair on an empty stage!
Why are you coming to see the show?
I'm coming to see Shahrukh in person, my heart's desire. Shahrukh Khan sure has great fans. I, for one, am definitely looking forward to what Temptation Reloaded will bring us!

Vipul Shah's Singh is Kinng has pleased the Sikh community so much so that on 'Guru Purab' (yesterday) they felicitated Vipul Shah at the Khar Gurudwara.
"Actually I was also surprised; this is one of the very important days for the Sikhs. So I had gone there to see the festivities where I was then felicitated with a Sarafa; I think they were very happy with the way things have turned out with Singh is Kinng. But I am seriously very touched with their gesture and I feel that a little amount of care in what we portray about any community can go a long way. Filmmakers can actually learn a lot by coming in contact with the real ethos of a community. I personally have learnt a lot after I have interacted with the learned members of Sikh community," says Vipul Shah. The film's Executive Producer, Bimal Oberoi, accompanied Vipul. "Our intention was to portray the community in the right way and I am glad that we have managed to achieve it," adds off Vipul.
At the same time, Vipul Shah is also getting ready with the pre-production of London Dreams. "London Dreams will be on floors by this July," states Vipul Shah. Source: Indiafm.com News | 17 Jun 2008 | 1:53 pm
Trust Ram Gopal Varma to maintain his cool in the most adverse of circumstances. He was allowing all the digs on him even as he had a series of failures in the form of Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Darling, Shiva, Nishabd and Darna Zaroori Hai. And we are not talking about his productions yet. Now even as he finally has a film of his taking the best opening collections of his decade and a half old career, he is unfazed even as few people from within the industry are trying to pull it down.
Why such double standards Ramu? Why are a few sections of media not willing to give the film its due? "I hope you have seen Company. You would remember that there was a dialogue in the film that went as - 'Tumhaare Dhandhe Ki Jaat Hi Aisi Hi' (That's the character of the profession you are in). Just like any other profession, Bollywood too works in the same sphere with similar set of rules and regulations. Apne dhandhe ki jaat hi aisi hai", roars Ramu.
Please elaborate. "As filmmakers, we get frustrated if we see one such film getting successful which we had hoped all this while that it wouldn't. Count me also as one such filmmaker", he adds on after a hearty laugh, "Even I take digs on the movies being made around me. Now today when Sarkar Raj has turned out to be a success, it is difficult for some of us to digest that fact."
As per the collections that have come in, the film has netted close to 25 crores in first week alone. This is in fact close to sum total of overall collections of all the films directed by Ramu between Sarkar and Sarkar Raj. Isn't that a big deal in itself?
"Ask this question to those born-yesterday trade experts who are busy working overnight on their excel spreadsheets and trying to get all these calculations in place. They all seem to be worried more than me and my producers and are now bringing up theories around number of prints in circulation, occupancy, print counts etc.", quips Ramu who agrees that he is aware about the 24X7 debates on blogs and other media forums around Sarkar Raj collections and it's ultimate box office verdict.
"My point here is let's look at the bottom line", Ramu reasons here, "Sarkar Raj has netted near about Rs. 25 crores after first week itself. Now for a film which was made in Rs. 25 crores, has collected similar amount just from the domestic market, sees 7 crores coming from overseas and is easily approaching 50 crores considering the satellite/DVD rights etc., it would be insane not to call it as a success!"
"See, I have never tried to call my flops as box-office success stories. I have never done that before and would never do that in future. At the end of the day everything is black and white and collections are there to prove whether the film has worked or not."
Getting serious, he goes on to conclude, "The bottom line is Z which is the money earned and if that's good enough to keep us all happy, let us talk about that! Now if we start questioning that why did Sarkar Raj not earn X amount of money because of Y being the scope due to occupancy available, it is surprising!"
