ECB limit eased for services sector firms

Two days after it relaxed overseas borrowings limits for Indian companies, especially those in the infrastructure sector, the government today further relaxed the policy, allowing services sector firms in the hospitality, hospitals and software business to borrow $100 million for the import of capital goods under the approval route.

Sterlite snaps up US company for $2.6 bn

Sterlite Industries (India), a subsidiary of Anil Agarwal-promoted Vedanta Resources, has reached an agreement to buy the operating assets of Asarco, a US-based mining, smelting and refining company for $2.6 billion in an all-cash deal, Sterlite announced through a media statement in Mumbai.
