After Taare Zameen Par, its child protagonist Darsheel Safary has always been in the news, despite the fact that he hasn't signed a single film after that. So you may wonder what's keeping little Darsheel busy?
Well its endorsements, public appearances at events, presence on T.V. shows and of course now he has even joined the bandwagon of stars who feature on the cover page of magazines. Yes, the child prodigy is seen on the cover of the magazine 'Child' (May 2008 issue). As the name suggests 'Child' is a magazine that talks about raising kids in a healthy and happy way.

Wonder who has more reason to feel offended, cricketers or sex workers. But Mahesh Bhatt's forthcoming film Jannat where Emran Hashmi plays a bookie compares the two professionsâ¦.and explicitly says cricketers are like prostitutes.
What's more, the censor board saw nothing objectionable on the world's poshest profession being compared with the oldest. Says a character in Jannat, "Dekhiye Sir. Cricketers aur prostitutes ke beech zyada farq nahin hota. Donon ki jawani khatm to kahani khatm."
In fact producer Mahesh Bhatt is supremely gung-ho about this latest eyebrow-raising tryst with controversy. "Yes, those are the exact words in Jannat. And what's wrong with that? If you think about it, we're all prostitutes. And at least they deliver what they promise. I'm no different from a prostitute. I too am a pleasure peddler. And please, I'd rather be a prostitute than a saint," says the eternal celluloid renegade who has earlier whipped up a frenzy of controversies in movies like Arth, Zakhm and Woh Lamhe. Once upon a time, rickshaw drivers used to be pretty much in vogue, especially when it came to Rajinikanth movies. Ever since Rajini's Baasha turned out to be a global blockbuster, auto rickshaws started playing an important role in majority of movies starring the Superstar.
While Hindi films haven't really warmed up to auto rickshaws (with the rare exception being Sirf Tum where Jackie Shroff played an auto rickshaw driver), it took a Himesh Reshammiya to make it all fashionable, considering the fact that he had them packed all the way from India to Germany with entire bag, baggage and vehicle in his debut flick Aap Kaa Surroor.
Now Nikhil Dwivedi, the young man from My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, is also trying to do his bit for auto rickshaw drivers in his upcoming film Khalbali Hai Khalbali. Buzz is that for one of the songs from the film, he has as many as 100 auto rickshaws along with the drivers filling up the frames.
Confirms Ajay Chandok, director of Khalbali Hai Khalbali, "My film is an out and out mass entertainer and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be targeting this particular segment of audience. It is my way of paying homage to the community which has been providing services to us Mumbaikars at a relentless pace. We have shot the number at some of the strategic locations in the city of Mumbai to get the right true flavor on screen."
Laughs Nikhil Dwivedi, "It was fun to be interacting with them. Yes, I have been on rickshaws as a passenger, but it was a unique experience to be interacting with them so closely and even match steps."
Incidentally, these auto rickshaw drivers were arranged by the song's choreographer duo of Bosco and Ceaser. They went all out to lend an authenticity to the frames and didn't relent before everyone got their steps right. Apart from 100 drivers and Nikhil, the song also features South star Sada. The quality and outcome of Mimoh's purported dream launch, Jimmy, has sent shock waves across the industry. While the pre-release vibes from the film were indicative of a hard time ahead not even the shrewdest trade pundit could have predicted such a harsh and relentless attack on a film that clearly and tragically doesn't deliver the goods.
While the shell-shocked star-parent Mithun Chakraborty has gone into a shell, sources close to the family say Mithun wasn't quite unprepared for the severe backlash. "Mithunda kind of knew what was coming. When he had seen the rushes he was shocked by the tackiness of the product. Jimmy was certainly not the launch that the doting father had dreamt for his son. Given a choice Mithun-da would've liked to shelve the film. And if it was his own home production he'd have done exactly that regardless of financial losses. But this was someone else's money and simply refunding Rs 5 crores was not the solution."
It was late last year after seeing the rushes that the appalled and panicky Papa stepped in to perform Operation Rescue. "Mithun da saw how poorly the film had been put together. The production values were much below par. The producers had promised to shoot in foreign locations, especially Dubai. All Mithun-da saw were indoor shots done shabbily. He decided to take matters into hands. Two extra songs were shot. No expenses were spared to make them look lavish. But it was too late," the source ends regretfully.
A lot of Chakraborty's friends also feel that the choice of director was wrong.
Continues the source, "Raj N Sippy had made a series of successful films in the 1970s. But he has been pretty much out of the loop in recent times. Mithunda's friends advised him against handing over the responsibility of launching Mimoh to a director whose best years came 25 years ago. But Mithunda was adamant. He argued that Raj Sippy had worked with the best of superstars in the past from Amitabh Bachchan to Dharmendra to Mithun. In fact, Raj had directed Mithun in Boxer which was a flop but which remains one of Mithuda's favourite films. Raj Sippy had also directed Akshay Kumar in his first film (Sugandh). So Raj was the chosen onceâ¦Once things started going wrong there was little Mithunda could do."
Post-release the velocity of the criticism against Jimmy has hit the emotional actor hard. Mithunda refuses to say anything about Mimoh's failed debut, beyondâ¦. "I always maintained my son is a better dancer than me. Everyone agrees. I'm happy with that. Beyond that, Mimoh has his own destiny. He's named after Michael Jackson and Mohammad Ali. Like the two, he'll have to fight his way through life. I can only be there to support him. He'll have to fight the battle on his own." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 May 2008 | 9:33 am

He won innumerable hearts as Sujal in a television show. Now TV's Numero Uno actor Rajeev Khandelwal is sure to multiply his fan-following with his feature film debut AAMIR. The film also heralds the arrival of a supremely talented storyteller -- debutante director Rajkumar Gupta.
It's not easy to think out of the box. It requires courage to swim against the tide. Rajkumar Gupta does not take shortcuts in his first film. It's not a love story or a laughathon. It's not a masala potboiler either. AAMIR is about an ordinary mortal caught in a vicious web.
Shot brilliantly at several locations of Mumbai [DoP: Alphonse Roy; incredible camerawork], the film leaves a hammer-strong impact on the minds of the viewer. The penultimate 20 minutes especially are breath-taking. The culmination catches you by complete surprise, it's unexpected. Not one of those heroic ends.
Films with unconventional themes rarely find backers, but AAMIR has found a strong name to reach out to millions of moviegoers across the globe -- UTV. What's noteworthy is that on one hand this studio backs films like JODHAA AKBAR and RACE and on the other, provides support to films like AAMIR, which may not boast of great stars or great visuals, but has a great story to tell.
Films like AAMIR reinforce your faith in the new talent that's surfacing in Bollywood. The entrants -- Rajkumar Gupta and Rajeev Khandelwal -- have taken a giant leap in their very first film attempt. Kudos!

That Big B was more popularly referred to as the Angry Young Man is something which is known to one and all. And why not? After all, he did display that side of his with panache in films like Deewar, Zanjeer, Shakti, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar etc.
However, as the years passed, Big B moved on to more sober and mature roles like the restaurant owner in Cheeni Kum, to the weird looking traveler in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom to the friendly ghost in Bhoothnath. This is on- screen; Off-screen Big B seems to be hell-bent on keeping the title of Angry Young Man or should we say Angry 'Old' Man. After all, off-late he doesn't let go of anyone who rubs him the wrong way.
First it was the media who faced his fury a number of times, right from the Abhi-Ash wedding to the Barabanki land case. Then it was Anurag Basu who rubbed Big B the wrong way and as they say, got it back tit for tat.
The latest to face Big B's wrath is noted film-critic and director Khalid Mohammed. Apparently, Khalid had written some not too pleasing things about Big B's latest release Bhoothnath in his review in a leading newspaper and Big B decided 'Enough is Enough'. He has publicly lashed out against his one time good friend, Khalid Mohammed, in his blog. In Amitabh's own words, these are some of the excerpts:
âKhalid Mohammed who reviews the film for Hindustan Times of date, who instead of reviewing writes a personal letter to me through a public document, who wishes that I go and learn how to act from the Pune Film Institute, who laments at the only dialogue he heard in the entire film, my oft repeated 'Haiiiiiiii', who as director made three of the most colossal bombs in the history of Indian Cinema and who now tries to educate others in the craft, who credits the cast of the film as AB,AB AB, disrespecting the other eminent star presence, who allegedly as Editor of Filmfare, coerced the talent of his directed films to work for him in lieu of the alleged consideration of an Award, titles his diatribe -
'TO BOO OR NOT TO BOO'
Well KHALIDA ! And this is not a gender error, but a call you respond to lovingly, when Jaya addresses you, as you spread yourself across our dining table in Jalsa, sipping our, in your own words, 'exclusive and expensive wine', this is what I have to say to you -

One of the darlings of Indian cinema, Juhi Chawla, couldn't be happier to talk about her new film Bhoothnath, and as she sits in her London hotel suite draped in her red and golden anarkali dress, it's clear that Bhoothnath is a film that means a lot to her. Call her the chirpy Chawla as many of the journos call her, she seemed totally relaxed and frank while talking about her costar-friend SRK, the IPL, her kids, then begins to lavish praise on her new director and describes her 'Ek Rishta' with Amitabh Bachchan in this exclusive interview for Bollywood Hungama.
Former Miss India, then ad campaigns, then your beautiful smile, then your first big hit QSQT followed by plenty more, your best buddy SRK, then your 'saat phere' with Jai Mehta, your kids, then some more ad campaigns followed by your Saade Saat Phere with Irrfan Khan and the least you expect is a 'bhooth'. How do you sum up your journey so far?
Talking about the journey, you've been following me since 6.30 am from Heathrow airport. So you must have guessed that my journey was hectic. Anyway, the way you started it, I thought where will you land up? But yes, you are right. It has been one hell of a journey. So much has happened so fast and look, I am a mother of two and still doing films. It's good to be back in London after a long long time for the promotion of Bhoothnath. My journey still continues after this film though. But here I am ready to face your questions.
Juhi Chawla has never been a part of a B.R. Films. Then how did you find your first outing with them?
The outing has been great. Bhoothnath has been a wonderful experience for more reasons than just one. I am working with Mr. Bachchan after a long gap, the same with Shah Rukh. Actually, my last film with both of them happened to be Paheli and that too was a ghost film. But working with Ravi Chopra was one of my most memorable moments simply because of the experience and talent he has brought along with his production house. To be a part of B.R. Films in your cinematic journey is a must for everyone.
My last film with Big B and SRK happened to be Paheli and that too was a ghost film
You play Banku's mother in the film but have you ever encountered a Banku in any of your kids?
(Laughs) Don't even remind me of it. My kids can be naughty, frustrating, mad and even go outside the house. I then have to spank them but all in good faith. From the most joyous and blissful moments to the most frustrating moments, I've had them all with my kids. It's an experience I cannot forget all my life.
Do you think that in Press conferences held overseas and events which promote the individual film, kids are somehow forgotten and it's only the big stars who steal the show?
Let me tell you that our little Banku has been a part of many shows and promotional tours back in India. It was him (Aman Siddiqui) who launched the soundtrack of Bhoothnath on the musical reality show Amul Star Voice of India. It is quite sad that he is not present here with us in London but that's not what we intended. I guess he must be a bit busy with Bhoothnath back home (laughs).
You've worked with a bhooth, your very good friend SRK, in Paheli. Bhooth here is Amitabh Bachchan. How was your Ek Rishta with him?
You've framed this question very nicely. Yes, as I've said before that this is the second time I'm working with both SRK and Amitji. In Paheli, I did not share screen space with Shah Rukh because his portions were more with Rani Mukherjee in the film. In Bhoothnath, it's almost a similar story. It's the kid, Banku, who shares screen space with the bhooth. I am a mother who doesn't believe in ghosts until the ghost reveals itself. Working with Amitji is a dream come true for any actor and sharing a scene with him is even more special. Coincidently, I am working with him again in Aladdin where he plays a genie. Now that's spooky (laughs).
You thanked everybody and mentioned every co-actors name in Bhoothnath but forgot one - Shah Rukh Khan. Do you think he is not a part of this film only because he is doing a special appearance?
Oh Yes. I did forget to name him but that does not mean he is not a part of the film. Even though he has only 20 minutes in Bhoothnath, he has played his part well. In fact, I told Vivek Sharma, the director, that how lucky he was to have Amitji and Shah Rukh both in his debut film.
They had screen tested me for the part of Draupadi for Mahabharat
You mentioned in the Press conference that you have worked once with B.R Chopra before. Can you clarify that a bit?
(Laughs) Yeah. This is going back to my Miss India title. After winning the title, I got an offer from B.R Chopra saab to work in their tele series Mahabharat. In fact, they screen tested me for the part of Draupadi. I was selected too but at the same time, I got another offer to work in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak which happened to be my debut film. So I had to choose between the two. What happened next, everyone knows.
Why don't we see you along with SRK in all the IPL matches? You both are owners of the Kolkata Knight Riders and you should be attending.
I am so busy with my two kids that I just cannot leave them. But it's Jai, my husband, and SRK who have the control over what's going on in the IPL. I hope that Kolkata Knight Riders win the tournament. Do you know, I am not even following the matches? Such is my halat. Shah Rukh is such an excellent marketing guy that right from the special music video for our team to the clothes they wear, he wants everything in the right place. No compromises there for him. But I have attended couple of matches with him. Let me get back to India and I'll have a think about it again.
Shah Rukh is such an excellent marketing guy. He wants everything in the right place. No compromises there for him
This is the first time you have sung a song in the film. How was the experience?
Now that's been the highlight of today's event. Pehle nachvaenge aur ab gavaenge (laughs). I have trained myself as a classical vocalist and when I was given a chance to sing, I did. The song is called 'Jaane Do' which is a slow number. You will soon find out after seeing the film whether I've got my career in singing or acting (laughs).
Any message for all the special kids out there?
The message is that, Go and watch Bhoothnath. It's a story of a haunted house where this family goes to stay and where they meet this ghost. Don't worry guys; I am not trying to scare you. It's a fun film with lots of emotions and laughter and an underlined message that is be good to the ones who are bad too. You never know when a foe might turn into a friend. But do go and watch it for Vivek Sharma who has put his heart and soul in this film. A must watch for his creative direction. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 12 May 2008 | 12:31 pm
