"Why is our marriage a matter of front-page interest?" - Arbaaz Khan

Arbaaz and Malaika Khan's rather ugly run-in with the monstrous after-shocks of over-exuberant product-marketing seems to have left the Khan family deeply affected. Known to be deeply conservative the Khans are extremely upset with Malaika and Arbaaz. "They feel it was wrong that we should've let them read about our little campaign instead of taking the family into confidence. In fact my parents clearly said, 'If we knew you two were going to be part of such a gimmick we'd have never allowed you to.' I never thought I'd ever get into something that would turn so ugly," sighs Arbaaz. So far the Khan family has one child as a favourite child of controversy. "Salman doesn't care what is written about him. I'm not that kind of a guy. I'm very particular about the way I conduct myself especially about my marriage. Suddenly, I find myself fighting a lonely battle to redeem my wife and my image." To compound the Khans' problems the multi-national company which conceived and implemented the queer campaign has completely washed its hands off the matter….a direct echo of what happened to the Roshans when the cell-phone company which goofed up in its communication system with the copyright ownership issue of Ram Sampat's tune decided to steer clear of their celebrity clients' troubles. "It's not just my name that's being affected, it's my wife's name too, and that I won't tolerate," Arbaaz says angrily days after the media reacted violently to the couple's gimmicky marital-discord campaign that hit the headlines last week. Says Arbaaz, "My wife and I have been called publicity hounds and our little child has also been dragged into the matter when all we did was to go along with the multi-national's campaign. Is compliance a crime? Then we're guilty. And I apologize. I'm not the kind of a guy who gets defensive after doing something goes wrong. And this situation has definitely gone wrong." What Arbaaz cannot fathom is why a section of the media chose to highlight the false story on a marriage breakup. "Neither Malaika nor I ever said we were splitting. It was the cosmetic company which put out a yarn about me re-marrying. From there some media persons let their imagination run riot. Since when is our marriage a matter of front-page interest?"

"I haven't lost weight, I've just toned my physique" - Kareena Kapoor

Downloads Tashan wallpapers Kareena Kapoor's next release is Yashraj Films' Tashan this week. "We've all worked really hard on the film. Let's hope it works. After Jab We Met, another hit wouldn't hurt." Kareena is looking forward to another film with Saif after Omkara and Tashan. "We're doing Renzil D'Silva's film together. But it's very important to keep the personal and professional lives apart," she says with a new-found wisdom. "Both Saif and I need to concentrate on our individual careers. No marriage for me for the next five years." She also cuts down any speculation regarding her sister Karisma's comeback. "How will she work? All her attention is taken up in looking after her daughter Samaira. My niece is the apple of everyone's eyes at home…Come to think of it, the letter 'S' has always been important in my life," she laughs, referring not just to her niece Samaira but also to Shahid and Saif. Saif was recently in Bangkok shooting an ad with Priyanka Chopra. Kareena who's known to be possessive about her loved ones was blissfully at peace with herself. "I've never been more comfortable in my space. And when I read stories about me, I can't recognize myself," Kareena sighs. It hard for us to recognize the new ultra-svelte Kareena. Post-Jab We Met she has lost so much weight there is a ceaseless spurt of speculative stories about her weight-loss. "People are saying I want to be like Victoria Beckham. I think the talk started when Saif got himself tattooed with my name. David had done the same for Victoria. So…but honestly, I'm proud of my sculpted body. It's a look that I needed for my new film Tashan. But I haven't starved myself to look the way I'm looking these days. Why should I want to be like anyone else? I've done nothing drastic to myself. I do yoga religiously. And I'm eating like any healthy girl, thank you." She faints with amusement at anorexic stories about her. "It was written that I fainted on the sets because I've become weak. Utter rubbish! Kuch bhi likh dete hain. Have these people seen me in person? I look no different from the way I looked earlier. I guess I'm just happy in life, and that shows. I haven't lost weight. I've just toned my physique and that too for a role. " If Kareena is glowing, it isn't just love. "I've right now entered the best phase of my career. Jab We Met has for sure been a turning point." Her desire to pair with Aamir is fulfilled. "It was a dream to work with Aamir. We recently came close to working together in two films (Vishal Bhardwaj's Mr Mehta And Mrs Singh and Mani Rathnam's Lajjo). It's finally happening. As for Rensil's film, it's a stunning script. I'm doing something in it, I've never done before."

Pakistan's leading rockstar back in Bollywood

The tryst between Pakistani music talent and Bollywood continues. The leading Lahore-based vocalist Mustafa Zahid from the famous rock band 'Roxen' made his playback debut in the Bhatt camp's Mohit Suri-directed Awarapan last year. He was even seen along with Emraan Hashmi and his band members in the remix video of the hit number 'Toh Phir Aao'. After his 'Tera Mera Rishta' and 'Toh Phir Aao' tracks from the film shot to fame, the word is that Zahid has now been roped in to compose and render a track for the forthcoming film, Runway, starring Lucky Ali and Tulip Joshi. The crooner is likely to fly to Mumbai early next month to shoot the music video for the number, which has been provisionally titled Khuda Kay Liye. And if that isn't enough, the Pakistani sensation will do a repeat for his favourite Bhatt brothers by composing and rendering the signature track for the keenly awaited sequel to Raaz, which is currently under production. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Zahid confirmed the news, "After the success of 'Toh Phir Aao' and 'Tera Mera Rishta', I'm glad that Bollywood has embraced me with open arms. Though my rock concerts have been keeping me more than busy, Bollywood has fast emerged into another passion that will remain with me for keeps!" He adds, "It's always nice to come down to Mumbai and catch up with friends. This trip, hopefully, will be no exception!"

No tension between Big B - SRK

Download Bhoothnath wallpapers BHOOTHNATH brings together the two supremos -- Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan -- after a gap. In between, rumours were flying left, right and centre about the tension between the two actors and that the once good friends weren't interested in working with each other anymore. Before we forward Ravi Chopra's clarification on the issue, let's bring to you another interesting facet pertaining to the film, which, I presume, a lot many people would be unaware of. Initially, director Vivek Sharma was toying with the idea of making a small film, but when he narrated the subject to Chopra, the producer insisted that they approach Bachchan Sr. for the role in question. However, Bachchan Sr. wasn't keen on doing the film. Reason being, he wasn't too sure of Vivek's abilities. But when he eventually agreed to act in the film, his only condition was Ravi Chopra should be present on the sets on all days. Later, when Bachchan grew fond of Vivek and realized that the director had the spark, there were no issues absolutely. Ask Ravi Chopra if he sensed any kind of tension between the two actors [Bachchan, SRK] and the veteran film-maker denies it completely, “Not at all! In fact, they would play games and enjoy each other's company during breaks. I'd love to work with them again and again.” That should silence the gossip mills!

'Jannat' premiere in Pakistan

Click above for more stills The Bhatts -- Mahesh and Mukesh -- have always encouraged talents from across the border. In fact, in almost every film produced by them, a Pakistani composer or singer has always been associated with it. Besides, their last few films have had a theatrical release in Pakistan too. The latest is that JANNAT, their new film, will be premiered in Pakistan. “Yes, there should be two premieres, in Mumbai and Pakistan, respectively. The Pakistani premiere is scheduled exactly a day before its release since we are planning a simultaneous release there,” Emraan Hashmi confirms, adding in the same breath, “It's a love story primarily, with cricket and match fixing being the wallpaper -- a subject both Indian and Pakistani audiences haven't witnessed on the big screen yet.” Although the Bhatts have released a couple of films in Pakistan in the past [reportedly, AWARAPAN was a huge success] and Emraan enjoys tremendous fan-following there, the actor hasn't visited the country yet. “I am looking forward to visiting Pakistan this time,” he sounds excited.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, she confirmed the news saying, “The ad was shot by the photographer Sanjeev Choudhary in Film City, Mumbai. Sarkar Raj v/s C Kkompany clash averted

Click above for more stills 6th June is fast turning out to be the most favorite Friday for Bollywood releases this season. Reason is simple. With IPL making its presence loud and clear, majority of films are avoiding arriving in the month of May and would only start lining up once IPL gets over on 1st June. This is why for the moment, the release calendar is looking at as many as 7 films showing their interest in arriving on 6th June - Sarkar Raj, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, C Kkompany, Heroes, Humsey Hai Jahaan, Mehbooba and Right Ya Wrong. However, one film which has now decided to walk out of the race, hence making the Friday relatively light weight, is C Kkompany. The comedy stars Tusshar Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav in the lead roles with Raima Sen as the leading lady, Mithun Chakraborty in an exciting role and horde of actors/celebrities like Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Dilip Prabhawalkar and Sakshi Tanwar making a special appearance. Why the shift to a later date? States Tusshar Kapoor, "Since Sarkar Raj has been confirmed for 6th June, there is no point in us bringing C Kkompany on the same day since Balaji Motion Pictures has stakes in both the films. We have the worldwide distribution rights of Sarkar Raj whereas C Kkompany is our home production. It wouldn't have made for a sound decision to bring both our films on the same day." Are all the problems pertaining to the film's eventual release finally solved? "Yes, there isn't any hitch around Sarkar Raj anymore", says Tusshar affirmatively. So which day is C Kkompany looking at arriving now? "We are tentatively sighting 20th June though the plans are yet to be confirmed", says Tusshar, "We should be having the film's promos on air around 1st week of May." But won't it be too crowded on 20th June considering Hijack and De Taali have already been confirmed? "Well, we will look at all the possibilities and then take the final call though what we are sure is that 6th June is definitely out", signs off Tusshar.

RGV introduces Sarkar Raj, the Big B loved it!

Click above for more stills It was a wonderful idea well-implemented; the unveiling of the first look of Sarkar Raj to the media and selected guests on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, though not surprisingly, the focus of the event shifted somewhat from the film to the couple of the evening Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan who celebrated their first wedding anniversary the same evening and were on video-conference from Miami talking to the press. Naturally media persons got more interested in the couple's anniversary plans than their take on the film. In fact, Aishwarya was quizzed as much about Shankar's Robot and Karan Johar's Dostana as Sarkar Raj. But Ramu didn't seem to mind. He was just thrilled to be the first filmmaker to bring his film's stars to the media via satellite. "In fact," joked Ramu, "this could set a new precedent. Stars could now refuse to show up for film events and just speak to the media from home." Mr Bachchan seemed extremely pleased with the outcome. "The event was just so enthralling. The film, the promo and most of all the children (Abhishek and Aishwarya) live from Miami with us on this a very auspicious day, their anniversary. It was a personal moment and yet so public."

Rahman speaks before his live performance in Chennai

Outwardly, hours before the ‘Times Of India Changing Notes’ concert for the launch of the Times Of India in Chennai, the musical maverick A R Rahman is calm. Being imperturbable is second nature to Rahman. But every concert even today is a challenge and an occasion for serious soul searching for the 41-year old maestro who has re-written every rule of film composition since Roja. "My life has always been a journey. When I was in my 20s, I went through the most turbulent and hectic time of my life. Now I spend as much time as possible with my children Khatija, Rahimaand Amin. My studio in Chennai is bang opposite my house, so they spend a lot of time with me. All they've to do is cross the road and they're with me," Rahman says. About the fabulous evening on Sunday when he regaled audiences with a roomy retrospective of his filmic repertoire Rahman said, "Basically, we chose to perform my film songs. That seemed to be the need of the hour. It was a rather special occasion since the Times Of India was launching its Chennai edition. Besides me, there was my full orchestra, plus singers like Chitra." Some hours before the show Rahman said from Chennai, "There's of course the usual chaos before a concert over here. So I can't speak at length with you right now. I love performing in Chennai. That's where my roots are."
