Shilpa Shetty's look in Dostana revealed

For all those who think that Shilpa Shetty's popularity is only limited to the U.K., this one surely could prove to be an eye-opener. The strikingly beautiful actress created quite a flutter when she was recently shooting for Dharma Productions' Dostana in Miami (U.S.). Shilpa, who will be seen after a long gap on the big screen, looks stunning on the beaches of Miami. Shilpa, who is doing a special item number in the film, was seen having a ball of a time while shooting on the beaches of Miami. The desi-crowd surely went crazy seeing Shilpa dressed in beach-wear and before one could realise, the actress was hounded for autographs and photographs. Sarkar Raj v/s C Kkompany clash averted

Click above for more stills 6th June is fast turning out to be the most favorite Friday for Bollywood releases this season. Reason is simple. With IPL making its presence loud and clear, majority of films are avoiding arriving in the month of May and would only start lining up once IPL gets over on 1st June. This is why for the moment, the release calendar is looking at as many as 7 films showing their interest in arriving on 6th June - Sarkar Raj, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, C Kkompany, Heroes, Humsey Hai Jahaan, Mehbooba and Right Ya Wrong. However, one film which has now decided to walk out of the race, hence making the Friday relatively light weight, is C Kkompany. The comedy stars Tusshar Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav in the lead roles with Raima Sen as the leading lady, Mithun Chakraborty in an exciting role and horde of actors/celebrities like Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Dilip Prabhawalkar and Sakshi Tanwar making a special appearance. Why the shift to a later date? States Tusshar Kapoor, "Since Sarkar Raj has been confirmed for 6th June, there is no point in us bringing C Kkompany on the same day since Balaji Motion Pictures has stakes in both the films. We have the worldwide distribution rights of Sarkar Raj whereas C Kkompany is our home production. It wouldn't have made for a sound decision to bring both our films on the same day." Are all the problems pertaining to the film's eventual release finally solved? "Yes, there isn't any hitch around Sarkar Raj anymore", says Tusshar affirmatively. So which day is C Kkompany looking at arriving now? "We are tentatively sighting 20th June though the plans are yet to be confirmed", says Tusshar, "We should be having the film's promos on air around 1st week of May." But won't it be too crowded on 20th June considering Hijack and De Taali have already been confirmed? "Well, we will look at all the possibilities and then take the final call though what we are sure is that 6th June is definitely out", signs off Tusshar.

RGV introduces Sarkar Raj, the Big B loved it!

Click above for more stills It was a wonderful idea well-implemented; the unveiling of the first look of Sarkar Raj to the media and selected guests on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, though not surprisingly, the focus of the event shifted somewhat from the film to the couple of the evening Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan who celebrated their first wedding anniversary the same evening and were on video-conference from Miami talking to the press. Naturally media persons got more interested in the couple's anniversary plans than their take on the film. In fact, Aishwarya was quizzed as much about Shankar's Robot and Karan Johar's Dostana as Sarkar Raj. But Ramu didn't seem to mind. He was just thrilled to be the first filmmaker to bring his film's stars to the media via satellite. "In fact," joked Ramu, "this could set a new precedent. Stars could now refuse to show up for film events and just speak to the media from home." Mr Bachchan seemed extremely pleased with the outcome. "The event was just so enthralling. The film, the promo and most of all the children (Abhishek and Aishwarya) live from Miami with us on this a very auspicious day, their anniversary. It was a personal moment and yet so public."

Rahman speaks before his live performance in Chennai

Outwardly, hours before the ‘Times Of India Changing Notes’ concert for the launch of the Times Of India in Chennai, the musical maverick A R Rahman is calm. Being imperturbable is second nature to Rahman. But every concert even today is a challenge and an occasion for serious soul searching for the 41-year old maestro who has re-written every rule of film composition since Roja. "My life has always been a journey. When I was in my 20s, I went through the most turbulent and hectic time of my life. Now I spend as much time as possible with my children Khatija, Rahimaand Amin. My studio in Chennai is bang opposite my house, so they spend a lot of time with me. All they've to do is cross the road and they're with me," Rahman says. About the fabulous evening on Sunday when he regaled audiences with a roomy retrospective of his filmic repertoire Rahman said, "Basically, we chose to perform my film songs. That seemed to be the need of the hour. It was a rather special occasion since the Times Of India was launching its Chennai edition. Besides me, there was my full orchestra, plus singers like Chitra." Some hours before the show Rahman said from Chennai, "There's of course the usual chaos before a concert over here. So I can't speak at length with you right now. I love performing in Chennai. That's where my roots are."

Top Ten albums of the week

Rank Last week Film Plusses Minuses 1 3 Tashan 'Tashan' makes it to the top of the charts just in time with the film releasing coming Friday. In spite of overall low key promotion of the film and songs hardly being on air, this Vishal-Shekhar soundtrack has crossed all obstacles and turned out to be the darling of the masses. All eyes are now set on 'Dil Dance Maare' which is the USP of this supposedly 'bizarre' album! It is this very bizarre feel of the album which has found some detractors. It is hard for a few to digest lyrics like 'Tohre Dil Ka Theater Maan, Dil Deewana Booking Advance Maange Re'! 2 1 Race After enjoying it's run at the top for months in succession, 'Race' has now been toppled by another mass entertainer 'Tashan'. Still, this Pritam soundtrack is pretty much in the 'race' for many more weeks to come, courtesy complete non-performance of new albums like 'Bhoothnath', 'Jimmy', 'Mr. Black Mr. White' and 'Sirf' None 3 2 Jannat 'Jannat' was walking up the ladder fast before 'Tashan' threatened to come it's way. It has now happened for real though the people behind the film's music are not giving up easily and have just unleashed yet another music video for the film's flagship number 'Judaai'. It is an exciting battle at the top! It has been a late wake up call for 'Jannat' with the promotion looking like intensifying only now. It would have to improve further to enable both the movie and the film reach the high it deserves. 4 4 Jodhaa Akbar Staying consistent where it was even last week, 'Jodhaa Akbar' continues to enjoy it's Top-5 positioning. Even though the film is now more or less off the theaters, it is the loyal patronage by followers of A.R. Rahman music which has made 'Jodhaa Akbar' become one of the biggest musical successes of 2008. Audience has given the album a Thumbs Up and this is what matters in the end. The music may not have boasted of a bona fide chartbuster but in entirety, it has made for a quality package album. 5 7 Khuda Kay Liye This one is the surprise of the week, albeit a present one! 'Khuda Kay Liye' music has grown and how, in spite of near to nil promotion on air. Within a fortnight of it's debut, the album finds itself in Top-5, courtesy some brilliant tunes in the form of 'Bandya', 'Allah' and title song 'Khuda Kay Liye'. While the music is doing quite well by itself, the album deserves to be promoted at least decently, if not strongly. Sadly, there is none of it happening currently. 6 5 U Me Aur Hum A week after the film's release, 'U Me Aur Hum' falls down by a spot instead of gaining some spots up in the charts. A good score, it now is under threat of not managing to move up in the charts any further as other albums around it have given this Vishal Bhardwaj soundtrack quite some competition. 'U Me Aur Hum' has been plain unfortunate not to get the kind of escalated sales it deserved. Otherwise, this predominantly melodious album had all in it to turn out to be a big success. 7 6 Taare Zameen Par Falling down by a spot, 'Taare Zameen Par' continues to be consistent, though now on the lower side. This now qualifies as a catalogue score by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy which would stay in existence forever due it carrying a universal theme and not bound by any musical genre. None 8 8 Krazzy 4 Barely surviving in the charts even as the film has become a success, 'Krazzy 4' stays on by default due to lack of major competition coming it's way. Even this positioning can be truly attributed to last minute rocking appearance by Hrithik Roshan in the 'Break Free' version. Except for the title song and to an extent 'Dekhta Hai Tu Kya', absolutely nothing else works for the album 9 9 Jab We Met Sales are pretty much in the lower side for the albums at the bottom of the charts. As none of the new releases have made any mark whatsoever, this Pritam soundtrack lives on for yet another week. Still, the sound of 'Mauja Hi Mauja' and 'Nagada' has been kept alive, courtesy IPL where these songs are strongly blazing across the stadiums. None 10 10 Om Shanti Om Just like 'Jab We Met', it is a similar story for 'Om Shanti Om' too where Shah Rukh's 'Dard E Disco' is the favorite at the stadiums whenever his Knight riders team is playing! To Vishal-Shekhar's credit, they now rule at top as well as bottom with 'Tashan' at #1 and 'Om Shanti Om' at #10! None Source: Music Festival, MGF Mall

Big B plays himself in Anupam Kher's film

In a forthcoming film of his, Anupam Kher plays a huge Bachchan fan. "And throughout the film I keep standing outside his house, Jalsa, for a glimpse of my idol," explains Anupam. "Finally, my character gets to meet his idol at the end of the film. For that we needed Mr Bachchan. Knowing how busy he is, I was hesitant to even approach him. We're family friends. Sikandar is like Abhishek's younger brother. I felt embarrassed asking him to make time in his busy schedule." However, the Big B's presence at the fag-end was imperative to the plot. When the over-committed star heard about the Anupam's script's requirement, he readily agreed. The sequence was shot at Mehboob Studios on Friday evening. Explaining the sequence Anupam says, "I'm first kidnapped and then told that I'd be taken to George Bush. When I reached the undisclosed place blindfolded, I discover it's Mr Bachchan's home. When I see him I blurt out my long pent-up admiration and that I have been standing outside his house forever. At first, Mr Bachchan speaks curtly and tells me, 'You won't stand outside my house anymore.' When I'm about to leave he whispers, 'From now on you'll come inside and have lunch with me.' It's a beautifully written sequence and Mr Bachchan swam through it," says Anupam. This is the Big B's third special appearance as himself in the last two years in films where the protagonist hero-worships him. In the Kannada film, Amrithdhaare, the heroine Ramya loves the Big B more than her husband (Dhyaan). Her wish to meet her idol before she dies is granted. In Ramji Londonwale, Madhavan played an ardent Bachchan fan who is shocked out of his wits when his idol appears before him at the end. Says the Big B, "Gosh, I never thought of these links. Thank God for people who keep track. What can I say about these very special appearances where I play myself? I'm deeply honoured."
