Aamir Khan's production of Delhi Belly seems to be undergoing a lot of pre-production belly-achesâ¦not a strange occurrence for Mr Khan. Remember the changes Taare Zameen Par (TZP) went through as it made its journey from Amole Gupte to Aamir Khan?
While the directorial responsibility in TZP changed when the film was almost complete, Delhi Belly has changed directors even before the shooting has started. The original choice to direct Aamir Khan's quirky and crisp sex comedy was the Swedish director Robert Nylund. No more so. The film has a new director and probably a new language as well.
Says a source close to the project, "Robert Nylund has been replaced by Abinay Deo who is veteran actors Ramesh and Seema Deo's younger son(the elder one, Ajinkya Deo, is a recognizable Marathi and Hindi actor) and the film was originally going to be in Hindi. It's now in English."
This is a big bright bustling break for the young ad-filmmaker who has already directed high-budgeted star-studded Pepsi and Cinthol ads. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starred in his Pepsi ad while Hrithik was the lead in the Cinthol ad.
Says the source, "In an instant replay of what happened between Aamir and Amole Gupte during TZP. Aamir couldn't see eye to eye with the Swedish director. After Delhi Belly was without a director, Aamir was very impressed by Abhinay's ads. When they met, he found Abhinay to be bright and full of do-able ideas."
Apparently, Abhinay has been asked to direct Delhi Belly on the lines of Guy Ritchie's heist-caper Snatch. Says the source, "It would be a very naughty and sexy comedy unlike anything one would expect from Aamir. And yes, he's likely to play a part in it." Next week this time the biggest cricketing extravaganza -IPL (Indian Premiere League) would be on and cricket mania is surely going to be at an all time high for the following few weeks.
Needless to say the presence of Bollywood stars in some cricket matches would truly be a case of sone pe suhaaga for every Indian. The opening match of the IPL itself sees Dr.Vijay Mallya's 'Bangalore Royal Challengers' take on Shah Rukh Khan's 'Kolkata Knight Riders' at the Chinaswamy stadium in Bangalore.
While most of the team captains and owners would be present for the opening ceremony in Bangalore on April 18th, once the tournament starts, most owners would be seen only in the places where their teams are playing.
So this means that Shah Rukh Khan would be seen cheering his team Kolkata Knight Riders wherever they play. The charismatic Khan is particularly looking forward to cheering his team at the spectacular Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. In fact, Khan has even decided to keep the ticket prices as cheap as Rs. 100 (lowest denomination) so that the youth can get to witness all the cricketing action live.
What's more, Shah Rukh would be even handing over every 1000th purchased ticket personally to the spectator. The superstar has even urged some of his good friends to be present along with him to cheer his team.
Surely, Shah Rukh is going all out to promote his team and get maximum spectators to watch the action. After all it's no mean feat filling the massive Eden Gardens. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Apr 2008 | 12:23 pm
T-Seriesâs Kajraare directed by Pooja Bhatt had been announced a while back with none other than Himesh Reshammiya playing the lead. However the hunt for the female lead was still on.
Now it seems T-series and Pooja have finally found their leading lady. The lady in question is Mona Laizza a popular Pakistani T.V. actress.
âWe were looking for a girl who had the innocence in her and was from Pakistan. It was not easy, Kajraare being an Indo-Pak love story. We checked out more than 70 girls and finally zeroed in on Mona Laizza. The look of the film is different and we are still in the process of finalizing the look of the charactersâ, says T-Series creative director Divya Khosla Kumar.
Pooja Bhatt adds, âJaved Sheikh was very instrumental in helping us get Mona. She fits the role opposite Himesh perfectly and we are hoping Javedji will also do an interesting role in the filmâ
The Bhatts had earlier worked with another Pakistani actress Meera in their film Nazar which bombed at the box-office. Hope Mona Laizza proves lucky for Pooja and the team of Kajraare this time around. The film a love story starring Himesh as a lawyer would be shot in Lahore, Morocco and Europe.
