Aamir Khan once again changes the Director of his film

Aamir Khan's production of Delhi Belly seems to be undergoing a lot of pre-production belly-aches…not a strange occurrence for Mr Khan. Remember the changes Taare Zameen Par (TZP) went through as it made its journey from Amole Gupte to Aamir Khan? While the directorial responsibility in TZP changed when the film was almost complete, Delhi Belly has changed directors even before the shooting has started. The original choice to direct Aamir Khan's quirky and crisp sex comedy was the Swedish director Robert Nylund. No more so. The film has a new director and probably a new language as well. Says a source close to the project, "Robert Nylund has been replaced by Abinay Deo who is veteran actors Ramesh and Seema Deo's younger son(the elder one, Ajinkya Deo, is a recognizable Marathi and Hindi actor) and the film was originally going to be in Hindi. It's now in English." This is a big bright bustling break for the young ad-filmmaker who has already directed high-budgeted star-studded Pepsi and Cinthol ads. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starred in his Pepsi ad while Hrithik was the lead in the Cinthol ad. Says the source, "In an instant replay of what happened between Aamir and Amole Gupte during TZP. Aamir couldn't see eye to eye with the Swedish director. After Delhi Belly was without a director, Aamir was very impressed by Abhinay's ads. When they met, he found Abhinay to be bright and full of do-able ideas." Apparently, Abhinay has been asked to direct Delhi Belly on the lines of Guy Ritchie's heist-caper Snatch. Says the source, "It would be a very naughty and sexy comedy unlike anything one would expect from Aamir. And yes, he's likely to play a part in it."

SRK to sell IPL tickets for as low as Rs.100

Next week this time the biggest cricketing extravaganza -IPL (Indian Premiere League) would be on and cricket mania is surely going to be at an all time high for the following few weeks. Needless to say the presence of Bollywood stars in some cricket matches would truly be a case of sone pe suhaaga for every Indian. The opening match of the IPL itself sees Dr.Vijay Mallya's 'Bangalore Royal Challengers' take on Shah Rukh Khan's 'Kolkata Knight Riders' at the Chinaswamy stadium in Bangalore. While most of the team captains and owners would be present for the opening ceremony in Bangalore on April 18th, once the tournament starts, most owners would be seen only in the places where their teams are playing. So this means that Shah Rukh Khan would be seen cheering his team Kolkata Knight Riders wherever they play. The charismatic Khan is particularly looking forward to cheering his team at the spectacular Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. In fact, Khan has even decided to keep the ticket prices as cheap as Rs. 100 (lowest denomination) so that the youth can get to witness all the cricketing action live. What's more, Shah Rukh would be even handing over every 1000th purchased ticket personally to the spectator. The superstar has even urged some of his good friends to be present along with him to cheer his team. Surely, Shah Rukh is going all out to promote his team and get maximum spectators to watch the action. After all it's no mean feat filling the massive Eden Gardens.

Pooja Bhatt signs Pakistani actress Mona Laizza opposite Himesh

T-Series’s Kajraare directed by Pooja Bhatt had been announced a while back with none other than Himesh Reshammiya playing the lead. However the hunt for the female lead was still on. Now it seems T-series and Pooja have finally found their leading lady. The lady in question is Mona Laizza a popular Pakistani T.V. actress. “We were looking for a girl who had the innocence in her and was from Pakistan. It was not easy, Kajraare being an Indo-Pak love story. We checked out more than 70 girls and finally zeroed in on Mona Laizza. The look of the film is different and we are still in the process of finalizing the look of the characters”, says T-Series creative director Divya Khosla Kumar. Pooja Bhatt adds, “Javed Sheikh was very instrumental in helping us get Mona. She fits the role opposite Himesh perfectly and we are hoping Javedji will also do an interesting role in the film” The Bhatts had earlier worked with another Pakistani actress Meera in their film Nazar which bombed at the box-office. Hope Mona Laizza proves lucky for Pooja and the team of Kajraare this time around. The film a love story starring Himesh as a lawyer would be shot in Lahore, Morocco and Europe.

Rakesh Roshan on the Krazzy 4 music Court Case

I have been observing with great feeling of anguish, some false and frivolous reporting about the matter related to the music of my film Krazzy 4 in press and electronic media. With a view to clarifying the position and removing any wrong and unworthy impression created by such irresponsible and utterly misleading statements, I think it is absolutely necessary to inform everyone about the facts on record. This statement, besides unfolding the facts, will serve as a timely warning to my fraternity. I had liked the music piece of the ad which I saw on TV in which Hrithik Roshan is performing as a brand ambassador for Sony Ericsson. For the purpose of using some portion of the said music in my film, I requested Sony Ericsson and in response I was granted consent and permission of Sony Ericsson by the letter dated 13th December 2007 which I reproduce here Consequently in good faith and relying on the authorization of Sony Ericsson as per the attached letter, I recorded with the required modification retaining only 4 bars of the 'THUMP' track. I was surprised and shocked on 24th March 2008 to receive a notice from the solicitors of Ram Sampat containing allegations of infringement of his work. I contacted Sony Ericsson and was told that they issued the letter by mistake and in fact they didn't have the rights for the same. Before I could think of any solution, Mr. Sampat filed a suit in Bombay High Court framing all wild and frivolous allegations of infringing his copyright of said music piece of Thump. It was really a shocking development because instead of approaching me to know the facts he straight away went to court. It was evident from going through the plaint and annexure therewith, that he was preparing the suit for a long time. It is interesting to note that the Krazzy 4 music was launched in February 2008 and the promos containing the alleged infringed work was released on TV on all channels in the end of February 2008. All these days, Ram Sampat chose to wait and instituted the suit in the High Court just a few days before the release of the film. This was a well planned scheme of making money. Having all the proof in my hand to defend, I was helpless for want of time. I was required to be in Court when the prints of the film had already been delivered all over the world. Finding myself caught in a helpless situation and to keep up my commitment with distributors and to respect feelings of the audience, I had no way but to succumb to the pressure and to compromise on the matter, thereby seeing that the film is released on the announced date. To honor all these commitments, moral and professional I paid the price to Ram Sampat who strangulated me just days before the release. These are facts which will enlighten each and everyone who might have been misled by wrongful claims and have been carrying wrong impression about the intentions and integrity of a banner which is sincerely and honestly serving the Motion Picture Industry and cine-goers since decades. These are also the facts which Hrithik had sent to Ram via sms which he has misused. While concluding, I would request my producer brethren to be beware of such people who wait to harass and corner the producers just at the time of the release of the film for wrongful gains. - Rakesh Roshan

"Preity Zinta is my favourite actress": Brett Lee

Click above for more stills “Preity Zinta is my favourite actress and I' not saying that because she is the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab,” said express bowler Brett Lee at the press conference of his acting debut Victory in Jaipur yesterday. Lee alongwith Mike Hussey, Brad Hogg, Simon Katich, RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Karthick and Yousuf Pathan played a competitive game under the luminous floodlights in the dexterously maintained Sawai Maan Singh Stadium. While huge sixes were being lofted all over the park, director Ajit Pal canned one shot after another in the beauteous 35 MM camera which was always at the risk of being smashed by one of Dinesh Karthick's massive strikes. Victory stars the sensation of 2008 Harman Baweja in the role of a cricketer from a humble background rubbing shoulders with the best in the business. “This is for the first time that you'll see real players will be playing in a film. Except for Harman, all professional players are playing,” said producer Manmohan Shetty. Incidentally, this happens to be his first production post the winding-up at Adlabs. Shetty hasn't coined a name for his production house (set up along with industrious daughter Pooja Shetty) yet and as for the budget of Victory, this is what he has to say, “It's a big budget looking film but we still don't know the exact amount as it is yet to be complete.” Alright let's bring you an 'ankhon dekha haal' of what really happened at this unusual on location of a Hindi film. No grease paint adorned heroine simpering-n-careening away to glory, no humungous delays and no starry tantrums from the film crew. The film's hero Harman Baweja remained ensconced in the player's dressing room politely distancing himself from media speculation as his first big release Love Story 2050 is yet to be released. Without an iota of doubt Brett Lee was the hero of the day. Right from having fun with his mates at Sheraton Rajputana swimming pool (Yup watching them jump in water fully clothed was a sight) to being mobbed by the frantic crowd at the stadium who jumped barricades (A couple of demure looking policeman were more keen on protecting the newly baked pitch especially for the impending IPL fiesta than shooing away the irate public). Lee was the cynosure of all eyes and like a star he mingled with fans, burnt sky hugging fire crackers and patiently answered queries from fan-like journos keen on knowing if he would build up a six pack or eight pack to maybe giving the Khans and the Roshans a run for their money. “I am a cricketer he said,” with a shining-sword smile and the impact was hard to miss. “Playing for Australia is my first love but there are so many other things that I like doing like fashion, music (he carried his guitar even to the stadium), and watching movies and now being a part of it. When it releases in Australia there will be lots pf laughs, lots of fun.” So, why did he agree to do Victory where he plays himself? “It is a fantastic script and hats off to people who've written it.” When quizzed about the recent altercations between Indian and Australian players, Lee diplomatically said, “The relations between Indian and Australian cricketers are brilliant. There have been a few instances but these kind of things happen.” Actor Dalip Tahil who plays the coach of Indian cricket team in the field light-heartedly jumped in at this moment, “We are trying to get Brett busy with Bollywood assignments so that he doesn't find time for cricket.” Everyone wanted a piece of Brett Lee (though there were some who were overwhelmed with the presence of Mr Highest Average Mike Hussey too). So Brett, would you sing for us? “Haan mein tumhara hoon aur tuhara ho rahoonga,” he mouthed his lines from the Asha Bhonsle. And what's the best Hindi film you've ever watched? “Any film starring Preity Zinta,” he said with a chuckle. Talk about keeping your team honour in good humour. Or does it have to do something with the rumours of their alleged fling a few years ago. Hmmmm…we aren't jumping to conclusions. Are we! Never mind… Victory also stars Amrita Rao and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The music of the film has been given by Anu Malik and it is slated to release in October 2008. Don't forget to check out the exclusive On Location video of Victory…Only on Bollywood Hungama!

Subhash K Jha speaks about Krazzy 4

Stand-up comedian Suresh Menon playing one of four psychologically –disturbed protagonists utters barely one word in the film. "Kidnap!" he stammers to tell his associates that the sweet doctor Juhi Chawla has been whisked away by an assortment of baddies who look like they could do with a spot of training in crime management. Krazzy 4 is a refreshing if not riveting change from the risqué-driven innuendo-laden ha-ha-thons that have recently infested our theatres with parasitical passion. This one has a point to make under the barrage of burlesque. And it's all done in the spirit of give and tickle. Cinematographer Ajit Bhat shoots the streets and crowded places of Mumbai to signify the sense of freedom that the four institutionalized heroes feel even in the claustrophobic atmosphere outside the confines of their world within the stone walls. So who's the crazy one? The guy who thinks we're still living in the era of Gandhian freedom fighters? Or the guy (Rajat Kapoor exuding suave villainy with a slurpy stealth) who gets his sweet wife kidnapped for political gains? Good question. And adeptly handled by debutant director Jaideep Sen as long as the audience doesn't ask too many questions about the logistics of four men and a jalopy joyride one not-so-fine-day into intrigue, adventure and crime. Sen with ample help from writer Ashwani Dheer knows precisely which frontiers to open to ensure that the comedy doesn't slip into farce. The initial scenes introducing the characters are well executed. And if the pace doesn't slacken it's because the actors wouldn't let it. Each of the four main actors invests a certain something beyond the precincts of parody to their characters. Irrfan Khan as the literate cleanliness freak, Arshad Warsi as the inmate with an anger-management problem, Rajpal Yadav caught in Gandhian time warp and Suresh Menon as the tongue-tied repressed vagrant invest a definite direction to the wacked-out goings-on. If you persuade a cine buff to choose one from the foursome it would have to be Rajpal who's by now the maestro of mirthful manoeuverings. Watch him give his patriotic mouthfuls to several scumbags in the plot. Rajpal brings the house down. Agreed some of the plotting and narrative transitions lack finesse. But when have mainstream Hindi films been known for extravagant bouts of finesse? Amidst the rites of the road movie, the narrative packs in some seriously satirical and sensitive moments. Check out Arshad's scene with his prospective father-in-law. It's a superbly scripted encounter worthy of far more recognition than evident on 'farce'-value. Or that isolated incident of pathos when the hygiene maniac Irrfan repositions the bindi on his wife's head. Such moments, delicately drawn and deftly defined get drown in the din of devilish merrymakers on a rampage. Krazzy 4 moves from one wacked-out adventure to another without sacrificing the sub linear message on the definition of normal behaviour in a social structure that has lost all its sense of proportion and is hurling into mayhem and anarchy. Laughter, you might want to know, is the only medicine. Krazzy 4 isn't quite the tonic for our wounded souls. But you can't help giggle at the goings-on especially when the cast is so finely clued into the cult of comicality. A word on the two controversial item songs. Shah Rukh moves. Hrithik glides. And yes, Irrfan Khan tries to wipe Rakhi Sawant's tattoo clean in her item song. That's where the laughter of the lewd is dispersed in the innocence of the 'mad'. Krazzy 4 isn't Milos Forman's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Priyadarshan did that in Kyun Ki. Krazzy 4 goes cuckoo in different sometimes endearing strokes.

The method behind Aamir Khan's many moves

The Indian national football team captain, Bhaichung Bhutia, barely squeezed in 11 minutes of the mandatory 15 minutes of fame for his principled decision not to carry the Beijing bound Olympic torch in Delhi on April 17. Reason: somewhere between the 10th and the 11th minute his thunder was stolen by actor/director Aamir Khan who stated that he had a different way of wearing his conscience on his sleeve. He would carry the torch but with a prayer in his heart for the people of Tibet; the Games did not belong to China but to the human race.

Raaz- The Mystery Continues On Location [Gallery]

RAZZ 2 is certainly not the sequel of Raaz is what is all said about the movie. Directors Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt desperately are trying to clear the buzz in the air the RAAZ 2 certainly has its own conception and has nothing to do with RAAZ. Kangana plays a super model in this film and Adhyayan her boyfriend. The movie had its shooting going on at Goregaon Film City, Mumbai on 11th April, 2008 where some of the shots of Kangana walking the ramp were undertaken. The movie features the very patent and favorite actor of Bhatt camp i.e. Emraan Hashmi along with Kangana Ranaut. The film introduces a fresh face this year and that is actor Shekhar Suman’s son Adhyayan. Just as a perfect newcomer Adhyayan was found appreciating the Bhatt camp and of course the two Emraan and Kangana. Adhyayan in real life seems to be very scary of minute things also and says, “The scary part of the movie for which we will be shooting is yet to come with much scary locations.Mohit Suri the director of the film celebrated his birthday on the sets as the huge target is to be accomplished. Where a big banner film goes controversies are bound to be followed. Juhi Chawla shoots for a television show

It's more that a fetish now a days to be on the tele-screen. Juhi Chawla gets attached to a family other than her own. The TV serial 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' had the honor of having Juhi's presence on their show and she spent an entire episode with the cast. Must have been some experience. “I liked the Thakkar family and I enjoyed myself a lot. Although it was my first time, they made me feel very much at ease. I was thrilled to see that the whole cast behave like one big family. They are all such good actors and it was easy working with them. I have never worked on television before, and it is the first time I have come in a serial, but I will remember and cherish this day for a very long time. 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' has been my one and only experience in a TV serial and a very pleasant one”, says Juhi. Bhoothnath was a smaller family when you compare to the family in 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby'. “The serial has been an exciting experience because there is such a big family who've been together for such a long time. I wouldn't like to choose one over the other but all I can say is that the viewers who watch 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' are very attached to the Thakkar family and are supremely fond of the show.” After playing the mother of the naughty kid in Bhoothnath the serial could barely be that tiring, especially with kids like 'Gattu'. Juhi remembers shooting for Bhoothnath in the big house. “Not just the kids of the house, but the ambience, the spirit of togetherness, the ease, no-attitude behavior, chemistry between the actors, on spot improvisation etc., every thing reminds me of Bhootnath. The film also had a huge set of a house where 50 to 60% of the film was shot. For almost two months, we have been going on the sets daily that by the end of the schedule the entire unit was like one big family and going to the sets felt like going from your home to another home. The same applies to the set here. Since there is such a big house and such a big family, you start thinking of it as a part of you...” 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' and Bhoothnath, if compared would have some similarities minus the 'Bhooth' factor. What say Juhi? “I like 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' since it's a family show and things here are not over dramatized. The incidents and nuances are so similar to our real lives and most of the incidences we see here often happen in our own homes. Our film, Bhoothnath is also quite the same. It is a movie that families would like to see. I think just as family audience form the crux for 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby', so will they for Bhoothnath.” Juhi Chawla can be seen in 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' on Saturday, April 12 at 9.30 pm on STAR Plus.

"This one was for my dad" - Rahul Bose

Though he doesn't like to talk about it, during the making of Shaurya, Rahul Bose lost his father Rupen Bose. "Nobody knows this. But my dad, a full-blown Bhadra Lok played a role in my first starrer English, August. He would visit me on location for every film… The only one he couldn't make it for, was Shaurya. During English, August he was there. And he just fitted into the role of Paltoo Kaku like a glove because they needed a Bhadra Lok. For Shaurya he was supposed to join me as usual. I was shooting in Manali and he was in his home in Kasauli. I heard he had collapsed and was rushed to the army hospital where they saved his life for the time being. So you see I owe a lot to the army," says Rahul gratefully. The army backdrop in Shaurya seems more than just a coincidence. One remembers what a trauma it was for Akshay Kumar to know he was losing his father while shooting Suneel Darshan's Jaanwar. The tears he shed in Jaanwar, Akshay had confessed, were real. Says Rahul, "I remember I had two sequences to shoot with Kay Kay Menon on the day my father collapsed. One was in the morning when we share coffee and the other in the night when we share a drink. My director Samar Khan offered to cancel the shooting. But we all know what budget constraints the smaller filmmakers work under. I continued. And it wasn't such an ordeal. In fact, it was a blessing to slip into another world that didn't remind me of Baba." Rahul finally opens up on the sensitive issue. "I modeled my character in Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Kaal Purush on Baba. The tactile rapport that my character shares with his daughter and son was directly echoed from what Didi and I shared with Baba." Rahul admits his more subtle performance in Shaurya is taking time to register. Everybody after seeing Shaurya is full of praise for Kay Kay…and rightly so. But it's only now that I've started getting phone calls for the credible sane element that I represent. That's a direct reflection of the way Kay Kay and I have played out our characters. The aggressive character always wins the applause first. If we had both screamed in the courtroom the moral equilibrium of the sequence would've gone for a toss." Rahul feels the performances in this country are judged by their immediate effect. "Unfortunately in this country the more aggressive performance is considered 'better'. The notion of silences on screen escapes our audience. We aren't a subtle people. I faced the same situation with Mr. & Mrs. Iyer It took a whole for people to understand my quiet performance. I've done a rabble-rousing performances in Sanjay Jha's Mumbai Chaka Chak. Just like the guy in Split Wide Open and Pyar Ke Side Effects there's nothing subtle about that guy. But I enjoy subtle performances like English, August, Chameli and the forthcoming The Japanese Wife. The last is by far my quietest and most satisfying performance. Reading the reviews of my unruffled performance in Shaurya, I wonder how critics would react to that one. For now I'm happy because Shaurya would be my most successful film after Jhankar Beats." So is Shaurya Rahul's most difficult part? "No Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam is the toughest role I've played. He's part RAW agent and partly lovelorn buffoon. A lethal combination."

Madhumati celebrates 50 years

Click above for more stills Om Shanti Om, a film based on the theme of 'reincarnation' might have earned many laurels at the box-office. However, as the saying goes 'Old is gold', a much celebrated film of 1950's Madhumatistarring the two veteran actors Dilip Kumar and Vyjayantimala based on the similar theme will be celebrating its 50th year today. The masterpiece directed by late Bimal Roy will be screened today at Globus Theatre. Vyjayantimala feeling proud about the happening said that Bimalda brought out the childlike mirth of her character and also, the dancer in her in the limelight. She further added that she has always found black and white dramatic and the theme 'reincarnation' very universal. Not very convinced with the thought of releasing Madhumati in colour like Mughal-E-Azam and Naya Daur, she said that she would never want Madhumati to go in colour because a classic looks best in black and white. Madhumati was one of the biggest successes of Bimal Roy with the music composed by Salil Choudhary.

"When they don't spare SRK or PM, whom am I?'' - Rakhi Sawant

If 'VIP' means Very Important Person, 'SOS' means Save Our Soul, then its only rightly apt that the full form of 'Rakhi' should be "Real And Kind Hearted Indian". Did you say Rakhi who? Well, you did guess it right that she is indeed Rakhi Sawant, who has kissed (or got kissed?) by Mika, fought the lone battle of solitude in the house of Big Boss, took the bull (read ‘Star TV’) by its horns and every other thing that she felt was right. Rather, what her heart felt was right. But then, the sad aspect is that the world mistook this Miss as someone who is merely publicity crazy! If one had the Pulitzer Prize for Democracy, she will win it hands down, coz’ she speaks what is right and she does what her heart says to do! She was with the Bollywood Hungama surfers and chatted with all her heart, mind, and soul. She answered all the questions, without skipping even one! If you do not believe us, read the chat excerpts. Rakhi Sawant: Hi Frendz.... Dimple: Did u always want to become an actress? Rakhi Sawant: Dimple, Yes. From the childhood itself, acting held big fancy for me.
