Earlier this week eminent psychologists expressed misgivings on television about the psychological accuracy of the mentally unsound characters in Krazzy 4. But Rakesh Roshan is unperturbed. "We had a psychological expert on the sets constantly. We went to rehabilitation centres. We saw how mental patients lived. None of them lived up to the stereotypes of Hindi cinema where mentally unsound people are shown screaming tearing their hair and sitting awkwardly. In reality, such people are hard to tell apart from normal people. We've shown mentally unsound people in Krazzy 4 as behaving normally."
The producer feels the protests are premature. "Let them first watch the film. We're in fact going to set a new trend in the way psychological disorder is shown in our films. People should see the film before deciding whether we're in the wrong." He adds an afterthought, "Whenever my films are around the corner some stupid controversy or the other comes up. It seems people take advantage of our name. Otherwise how do we explain these controversies coming up just days before release? Why go to court if you've a problem, why not come to me and explain your problemâ¦.unless your intention is to create trouble."
There's a virtual war of words out there, albeit a friendly one between Rakesh Roshan and his namesake Rakeysh Mehra to come up with a viable script for the next film in Hrithik Roshan's Krissh series.
Says Rakesh Roshan, "Rakeysh Mehra wants to make an installment of Krissh for me. I told him he's most welcome to do a Krissh movie for my company and to work on the script. Krissh doesn't belong to me any more. It's become a brand name like Superman. Anyone is welcome to make a film in the series for me."
Rakeysh who has been busy with Dilli 6 has now started working on the script of Krissh.
Explains Roshan, "While Rakeysh is doing his Krissh script, I'm also working on my own script. If his script turns out better, Rakeysh will direct the next Krissh film. If mine turns out better then I will. We may even make both the films one after the other. Or I may direct his scriptâ¦. He may direct mine."
About composer Ram Sampat claiming Rajesh Roshan's music in Krazzy 4 as his own, Rakesh Roshan says, "I can't comment on this since it's a subjudice matter. All I can say for now is, the release of Krazzy 4 cannot be stalled now under any circumstance. All my prints have already gone to various centres . We're treating Krazzy 4 like any of my directorial ventures. Krazzy 4 isn't as big as Krrish. But it's just as important for us. It isn't a slapstick comedy. There're no double-meaning dialogues. In fact, the characters don't think they're being funny."
Rakesh Roshan's parting shot. "People seem to know more about our lives than we do. They've written that Sussanne is going to have twins. That's news to us." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Apr 2008 | 4:27 pm

'Stop The Real Villains' cries one of Bollywood's best known villains- Bad Man Gulshan Grover in this ad campaign. So, who is the villain whom this on-screen baddie is referring to?
It's none other than the people involved in the illegal abuse of animals and who slaughter animals for making various leather products. In case you are wondering what Gulshan is doing in this campaign by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals India) we will get you all the details straight from the bad-man's mouth. âI am a villain only on screen; however, there are real life villains who treat animals badly, whether in Mumbai or New York.â says the acclaimed actor. Further pointing to a photo of cattle cruelly cramped inside a truck and a handler stepping on a collapsed animal in the ad, Gulshan adds, â I urge India's citizens to help stop animals' needless suffering by insisting that their local governments and police enforce laws against cruel transport and poor treatment of animals by truly bad menâ
The ad campaign has been shot by ace photographer Ashok Salian. This is not the first time that Gulshan has teamed up with PETA to speak out against the leather industry. In 2004, he shot a similar ad showing cows jam packed in a lorry on their way to slaughter.
PETA's campaign against the leather industry was launched in the year 2000. Apart from Gulshan Grover, some other hi-profile celebrities who have also supported PETA include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Sir Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson and Jackie Chan. Even before you let your imaginations fly and let loose, let us tell you, Hari Puttar is definitely not the Hindi version of Harry Potter. Nor does the story have anything to do with Wizards and Wizardry.

Musical history was made in Miami last week when Abhishek got together with rapper Wyclef Jean for a track called 'Hollywood Meets Bollywood' to pay a tribute to Hindi cinema and his legendary father Amitabh Bachchan.
Abhishek sang naughty patriotic words like "Main yahan ka desi don" and "Khai ke banarsi paan", drawing a direct and delectable reference to the senior Bachchan's in the 1978 hit Don.
On March 29, not only did Wyclef Jean specially ask for Abhishek to do a track, he also flew down from his home in New York to Miami to record with Abhishek and composer Aadesh Shrivastava for a new album that will release in India in May.
Recounting the historical collaboration the still-dazed Aadesh says, "It was unbelievable. Wyclef and I were discussing a track where we needed hiphop-rap in Hindi by an Indian star , when Wyclef suggested, 'How about Abheee-shake?' Naturally I jumped at the suggestion. I've recorded many songs with Amitji. And I've been waiting for the right opportunity to record with Junior who I know has a terrific singing voice."
Plans were immediately concretized. Since Abhishek was working within a very tight schedule for Karan Johar's Dostana in Miami, there was no choice but for Aadesh and Wyclef to take the melody mountain to Mohamed, so to speakâ¦er, sing.
"They became musical soul-mates within minutes. Since I was the one who knew both of them, I thought I'd have to play intermediary. There was instant chemistry between Wyclef and Abhishek in Miami."
Abhishek's lyrics for this sure-fire chartbuster? "Wyclef, Aadesh come on rock this party shake shake /Main yahan ka desi don sang mere ga re//India hamari shaan/Khai ke banarsi paan/Sang mere tu ga re."
The song was recorded the entire day at the Setai recording studio located in one of the poshest hotels of Miami. "Abhishek, Wyclef and I had a ball recording the song till 2.30 in the morning. And then would you believe it, Abhishek headed straight for the shooting of Dostana which started at 4 am," exclaims Aadesh.
Wyclef was so taken up with his self-selected crooning collaborator that at the end of the day-long jamming session he had only one thing to say. Yehi hai right choice, AB Baby Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 10 Apr 2008 | 2:02 pm

With the High Court today declaring that the music of Krazzy 4 is a copy, the whole of Bollywood which, today, was, awaiting the verdict with bated breath, is now in a state of silence, not knowing what to do and how to react.
For those who came in late, 29 year old musician Ram Sampath had filed a case against the Roshan brothers (Rakesh and Rajesh) for having lifted his tune of Sony Ericsson mobile and having it used in the tracks of Krazzy 4 without his consent and also without giving any due credits to him. Ram is seeking Rs 2 crores from the Roshans as compensation.
Now that the verdict is out, we at Bollywood Hungama are now waiting with bated breath to catch up with the antics of the Krazzy 4 gang, which releases tomorrow. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Apr 2008 | 1:24 pm
Listening to Ajay Devgan for fifteen minutes makes you realise that he is not only the consummate actor, but the perfect movie star as well. He doesn't really namedrop his way through the interview - namedropping isn't the correct term for him because he considers himself as just a normal human being who is simple and down to earth. But it is clear that this is a guy who has seen it all. And what's more, professionally he is on the form of his life, by reinvigorating his acting credentials in his directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum. In an exclusive interview over the phone from a cold and windy day in London, Devansh Patel chats with Ajay Devgan.
What's more of a responsibility, wearing the director's hat, directing your wife, being a husband and a father or producing a meaningful cinema which conveys a strong message?
You are forgetting that the intention was also to make a fun film which I have in the first half of the film. As a husband, it wasn't an issue to be working with Kajol because when I was directing her, I wasn't thinking of her as my wife but was thinking of her as a character. Now when we talk about directing, acting and producing yourself, you have to make it very clear in your head that it requires a lot of extra hard work because you need more concentration as you are putting your mind in three things at the same time. But if you are clear in your head, it's not a big issue.
When I was directing Kajol, I wasn't thinking of her as my wife but as a character
But after seeing the film, don't you think that U, Me Aur Hum is eventually giving a strong message out to the audiences?
I have not made this film to give out any message. It's sweet of you to say that but I feel that it is a positive film made with a positive attitude. So I don't think that in my film anybody will feel that I gave a message. They might feel it when they go home. Eventually, it's a story which talks about positivity, love, relationships, etc. It will make you laugh and cry and that was my prime intention.
Has your daughter seen the film?
She is too young to see the film and I don't think that she will be able to see us facing problems in the film itself. I am sure that she won't see U, Me Aur Hum.
My daughter is too young to watch U, Me Aur Hum
Why show U, Me Aur Hum to Sushma Swaraj, L.K.Advani, Ravi Shankar Prasad and a few other politicians?
Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad is like a family friend. It was his idea that he wanted to show the film to the cabinet ministers. It was his invitation and I was also invited for the show. Yes, it's true that the special screening was the first trial of U, Me Aur Hum and the response was over whelming and we had a standing ovation in the end. That was a great feeling. Mr Advani was a film critic before he became a politician and that adds on to it.
After seeing the film myself, I thought that the Director of Photography (DOP) has done an excellent job. What credit would you like to give to Aseem Bajaj?
Aseem has been the DOP in many of my earlier films as an actor like Golmaal, Sunday, etc. It's very important the way you present your characters and light them up. I think the DOP needs to understand the mood of the scene. That's when we tell him that we want such kind of lights. He then goes ahead and puts his inputs. I think it makes a lot of difference in a way as the DOP adds glamour to the film too. Hats off to Aseem Bajaj.
I've heard a lot about one scene in the film which took three hours to shoot. Could you brief us on that?
The scene which you are talking about is the shot in which the seagulls are seen flying together. It's the first time that we have used a helicam in our country for that particular shot. I knew a lot about the helicam but you need prior permissions from certain authorities to use it. That's why I had pre planned all the necessary things before getting my hands on to the helicam. What's even more interesting is that the seagulls come out early in the morning only once and we had to wait for three long hours to take the shot. In fact, in such situations, there has to be no room for error.
A very cliched question but have to ask it. Why choose faces like Divya Dutta, Karan Khanna and Sumeet Raghavan for your film?
I wanted actors who were not over exposed and I wanted good characters. Friends should look like friends; otherwise what happens is that in our films when a hero has friends, they are side characters who have hardly anything to do in a film. But I've seen to it that friends look like family in U, Me Aur Hum and thus such a diverse choice. I am sure you'll fall in love with each and every friend of mine in the film.
I wanted actors who were not over exposed and I wanted good characters
Is U, Me Aur Hum going to be a one off experiment as a director?
I had an idea and I decided to direct a film. U, Me Aur Hum's idea touched my heart. There is a possibility that another idea may touch my heart tomorrow or after two years. If that's the case then I'll direct my second film. My intention is not to keep directing. As of now, I am thinking of something. If it really inspires me to do it then I'll go ahead and direct it, but I'm not in a hurry.
If it really inspires me to do it then I'll go ahead and direct it, but I'm not in a hurry
It may come to you as a shock but the restaurant scene during the climax left many journalists moist eyed. That's my favourite scene. Which one's your's?
You caught me on that one, didn't you? The restaurant scene with my friends was a very important scene and you won't believe it but I started the main thought of U, Me Aur Hum with that scene.
So were there any moments when you had your eyes moist?
Lots of time because the script was so close to my heart. When Vishal Bhardwaj came up to me and made me read the slow and painful title song's second verse, it made me cry.
When Vishal Bhardwaj came up to me and made me read the slow and painful title song's second verse, it made me cry
Any message for your fans who are eager to see your first directorial debut tomorrow?
I don't want to give any message. I want them to see the film and I want them to feel positivity after the film is over because I'm sure they all will work on their own relationship.
Why did you go for Eros International as the worldwide distributors of U, Me Aur Hum?
I share a great rapport with Kishore Lulla and I'm comfortable working with him. He is one the very few people we have in our industry who understands our cinema very well. He also gives due credit to the film and has no sort of interference.
What are you going through right now as we speak?
I'm feeling excited to be giving this interview and many more which I have given and will give (laughs). I'm positive and happy by comments given by you and many others who have seen the film. Nobody will turn around and say that U, Me Aur Hum is a bad film. Either it's an average film, a good film or a very good film. I have that much confidence.
Nobody will turn around and say that U, Me Aur Hum is a bad film. Either it's an average film, a good film or a very good film
Do you really feel that sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people? That's your tag line for the film.
You're right. I do feel very strong about this particular quote. I don't know who has written it but I thought of incorporating it in my film. Even Kajol's character in the film says, "Kahin padha tha...kissi ne toh likha hoga". But not only this quote, the film also has bold dialogues which stand true every time you think of your relationship with your wife, husband and friends. Tusshar Kapoor is in a joyous mood, courtesy One Two Three which has managed to be a sweet little success. However, he is still found fuming. Reason? He is surprised by a tabloid report which recently reported that Bappa Lahiri, son of Bappi Lahiri, had been bundled off his home production C Kkompany, as the composer of the film.
"Who said that Bappa Lahiri is not more a part of C Kkompany? He is very much on and all of here are very happy with what he has done so far. I don't know from where do such rumors originate from; it is irresponsible reporting."
The reason stated around Bappa's exit as a composer was that the production houses of neither Ekta Kapoor (Balaji Telefilms) nor Suneil Shetty (Popkorn Entertainment) were pleased with the tunes he had composed. Hence, it was exit Bappa and enter Anand Raaj Anand who was entrusted with the responsibility of coming up with a fresh soundtrack
"All untrue. Seriously, this just a false alarm and nothing else. Bappa is very much on board", says Tusshar while standing up for the young composer.
Reports also indicate that Anand Raaj Anand was roped in as replacement composer. "Arrey yaar, he has been roped in but only for one song", clarifies Tusshar, "Isn't a trend to have an additional composer to step in so as to create a tune for a promotional music video? It's the same case here as well. While the three tracks by Bappa form a part of the film, Anand Raaj Anand's track would be for promotional purposes. Now we can't help it if someone chooses to find anything controversial here."
Rumor also has it that Anand Raaj Anand would be re-recording the songs already recorded by Bappa. "Again untrue", Tusshar gets irritated here, "Leave the young boy alone. It is his first major film where he gets to make as many as three songs. He is doing a fine job and no one is touching what he has already completed."
Slated to arrive in the month of June, C Kkompany would be Tusshar's second comic flick of the season after One Two Three. Directed by debutant Sachin Yardi, the film is a laugh riot and stars Raima Sen, Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Mithun Chakraborty in principal roles. There is also a long list of special appearances in the film ranging from Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor to Dilip Prabhawalkar and Sakshi Tanwar. Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome
The whole of Bollywood has come to a sudden standstill with the most unexpected news that broke out today morning. Shomu Mukherjee, the proud father of bubbly and effervescent Kajol, father-in-law to Ajay Devgan and Tanuja's husband passed away today morning. Death could not have been stone-hearted to have taken away the man, when his darling daughter and son-in-law's magnum opus film (U, Me Aur Hum) is just a day away from its gala release.
Hailing from a family headed by his father, Sashadhar Mukherjee (famously known as the founder of Filmistan studios), Shomu was the youngest of the three siblings, the other two being Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. While Joy and Deb were on to become actors; Shomu took the plunge to become a director and producer.

Hey Peopleâ¦Do Not Worry. Bollywood Hungama has not gone regional. Its just that the above quoted Malayalam saying, when translated into English, will read as "Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face". But here is a man who can actually drive away the winter irrespective of the language. In Bollywood, rumors have it that while the first ever words of any child will be 'Maa' or 'Paa', this man must have surely said 'laugh'.
We are undoubtedly talking about Suresh Menon, the Malayalee man with the Hindi accent or is it the other way round? Whatever be the way, there's no escaping this man who is all set to redefine comedy and replace smile with peels of laughter with his acting, in his forthcoming film Krazzy 4, alongwith Irrfan Khan, Arshad Warsi and Rajpal Yadav.

One of the oldest B-town residents who had all-of-a-sudden become an 'instant-NRI', all thanks to her racist loud cries and howls in 'Big Brother' is back to where she belongs- Bollywood. Well, no prizes for guessing that we are indeed talking about Shilpa Shetty, who is back to Bollywood ('via Miami') to 'nibhaao' her Dostana, a Tarun Mansukhani directed and John-Abhishek-Priyanka starrer, in which she features in an item number.
The snap features her in the bike-track with professional bikers, which is supposed to be the highlight of the song!
We spoke of 'via Miami' because, the item number has been shot there featuring her, whereby, at the end of the song, she turns a narrator to introduce Abhishek and John.
We simply wonder, first an actress, then a model (remember the Vipul Sarees' controversy), then, an international celebrity 'via' Big Brother, then, a DVD Yoga Teacher, then a perfume launcher, now a narrator, and one more feather in her item song's list, the earlier one being 'UP-Bihar Lootne' in Shool! Phew!
We are eagerly waiting to see Shilpa back in actionâ¦or shall we say re-action! Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 9 Apr 2008 | 3:42 pm
