Neetu Chandra is certainly seeing an upswing in her career. With three back to back successful films, Garam Masala, Traffic Signal and One Two Three, each of which saw her in different roles, she has just been rewarded for her persistence over the years.
One Two Three, in spite of being ripped apart in unison by all critics once the first screening was through, has managed to do decent business at the box office and has safely sailed through. Happy with the commitment shown by the young actress and thorough support she provided in the film's promotion, Kumar Mangat, producer of One Two Three, has decided to reward her. He has offered her two more films where she would be enacting the role of a leading lady.
Has she accepted the offer? "There is no question of me saying no to the projects, why would I say that", says Neetu gleefully, "Kumarji is such a warm person to work with and he has given me a role which I am sure would go down as being memorable over the years. I can't remember a leading lady getting an opportunity to play a Jat cop and I consider myself lucky to have said yes to One Two Three."
In a bunch of females, Neetu did stand out as the foul mouth lady cop. Was she ever apprehensive about how she her act would be looked at by the audience? "We knew what the target audience for One Two Three was and we were aiming for some complete time-pass 'masti' and 'dhamaal'. Once I heard the dialogues from the film, I knew I had to play my part."
"Remember, I used to talk about the dialogues when I was shooting for the film in the middle of last year. At that time itself I was so sure about the written part that it was a matter of executing it in front of the camera. I am happy that the hard work paid and today the spoken dialogues from the film are being most talked about", continues Neetu who has as many as four films lines up for release this year.
"While Rahul Dholakia's Mumbai Cutting is round the corner, I have UTV/Dibakar Banerjee's Oye Lucky Lucky Oye with Abhay Deol and Pareshji. Then there is Adlabs' Flat No. 13 B where I am paired with Madhavan. There is also another biggie with a top corporate house which I have signed but about which I can't currently speak. So yes, apart from beginning work on the two new films with Kumarji which would see me in a different light altogether, I have quite a heavy 2008 ahead." Anees Bazmee, the 'hit' director of super hit films like Welcome, No Entry amongst others is busy wrapping up Singh Is Kinng starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, he said, "As of now, I am totally busy and tied up with the last schedule of the Singh Is Kinng, for which we will be in Egypt from the 10th-20th of May, since the film's to be released in August."
After Singh Is Kinng, Anees will be doing a film for Boney Kapoor. "I will be starting work on my next (untitled) film with Boney Kapoor, which stars Harman Baweja, Genelia D'Souza and Nana Patekar. It's a romantic love story."
He also has deals with Studio18 and T-Series. "The film with Studio18 is a multi-starrer action comedy (which is under scripting process.) The film will have three heroes and two heroines, while the other film with T-Series is a love story."
The latest news is that Anees has signed a deal with Pyramid Samaira. When we asked about it, he admits that Pyramid Samaira has offered him a three film deal. Bazmee states, "I am very happy with the kind of faith people have shown in me. The Samaira officials have left on me to decide the kind of genre that I want to make, including horror! If I find these films exciting, I will surely sign the deal with them. For which, I am meeting up with them before I leave for Egypt". Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 9 Apr 2008 | 1:11 pm

Reports flooding the electronic media that Shah Rukh Khan is extremely upset with the Roshans refuse to upset the Roshans.
Laughs Rakesh Roshan, "We know what the truth is. In fact, I met Shah Rukh at an awards function the other day. We both laughed over these reports. Maybe a section of the media thinks it knows better. But Shah Rukh, Hrithik and I are above these attempts to create a rift between us. The fact of the matter is, it was Hrithik's idea to approach Shah Rukh for the dance number. Why would he suddenly feel threatened by Shah Rukh?"
Rakesh Roshan will say no more on this subject. But a source very close to the Roshans adds, "From the very start when Shah Rukh was roped in to do one version of the Krazzy 4 song, Hrithik had gone on- record to state that Shah Rukh's version of the number will be used as a part of the film. Hrithik who at that time couldn't perform the item song because of a bad knee had explained the situation to Shah Rukh. He had also stated clearly that whenever Hrithik is able to perform after his knee injury, his version of the item song will be used for promotional purposes. And rightly soâ¦the song is composed by his uncle and is part of Hrithik's home production. It's his sister Sunayana's first attempt at a producer and Hrithik is very proud of her and the film. So why should Shah Rukh be miffed with the Roshans?"
The fact that Shah Rukh doesn't have the time or the inclination to correct the blatantly mischievous perception on the two-tiered item song only adds to the confusion. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 9 Apr 2008 | 12:55 pm

The number game does matter and those who feel it doesnât, are either living on another planet or itâs a case of sour grapes. Every Friday, the ratings change and so do the equations. Take Akshay Kumar, for instance. Not too long ago, he was in the B-list, with film-makers offering him done-to-death roles, which stifle the growth of any actor. But Akshay smelt coffee and decided to experiment.
The journey from being an âaction heroâ to a âcomplete actorâ has taken time, with the actor working doubly hard and burning the night candles to attain the super-successful results. As things stand today, Akshay occupies the prime place in the Premium List and his companions are SRK, Aamir, Salman, Hrithik and now, Saif.
Of late, thereâve been news-reports that suggest that Akshay has grown insecure of Saifâs increasing popularity, post RACE. On a personal level, I feel thereâs not an iota of truth in this spiteful write-up, for Akshayâs movies enjoy tremendous pull at multiplexes/single screens or metros/mini-metros/towns. If we get real and talk of facts-n-figures, the volume of business of Akshayâs films has put him on the pedestal, right next to SRK.
In Overseas, the biggest territory today, Akshay has attained a strong foothold. In U.K., SRK occupies the top position, with Akshay being the No. 2 star there, if the business of NAMASTEY LONDON, HEYY BABYY, BHOOL BHULAIYAA and WELCOME is an indicator.
Letâs talks facts! Four years ago, in 2004, the Akshay starrer AAN fetched a miserable £ 19,460 in its opening weekend in U.K. The same producerâs WELCOME [2007], also starring Akshay in the lead, fetched £ 369,321 in its opening weekend, which, to enlighten the gullible souls, is the second biggest opener of 2007, after OM SHANTI OM.
In the U.S., Akshay is next to SRK and Hrithik [both DHOOM 2 and JODHAA AKBAR were massive hits] and if Akshay starts featuring in romantic movies, the business should reach the same figure for sure. Hence, all insinuations of Akshay being insecure could be the handiwork of an over-enthu mind who has zilch knowledge of movie business.
The popularity of any actor is gauged by the price his films fetch and a solo Akshay starrer, SINGH IS KINNG, has fetched Rs. 71.4 crores, which clearly puts him right next to SRK and Aamir.
Also â this is very important â had Akshay been insecure, he wouldnât have told Vipul Shah to plan a project with Saif and him [Akshay] together. âYes, he told me he enjoyed working with Saif in TASHAN and would love to work with him again. âWhy donât you plan a project that teams us together?â Akshay told me,â Vipul Shah enlightens me. If Akshay was indeed feeling the heat, he wouldnât have uttered these words, right?
Am sure, Akshay must be laughing at the ignorance of some wannabe journos! Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 9 Apr 2008 | 7:10 am

Rumor has a hundred tongues, a hundred mouths and a voice of iron...and when it gets started, it's almost impossible to stop it. So, when we spoke to the PR of Madame Tussauds, he was in for a surprise.
Since this morning, rumors are spreading thick and fast on the website from India that Hrithik is going to Roshan Bollywood's name at Madame Tussaud's in 2009 by getting immortalized in wax. To add further, the website also quoted that Hrithik won the poll by beating the legendary Dilip Kumar who was also nominated to be waxed. As per our talks with Ben Lovett from Madame Tussaud's this morning, he claimed, "I don't know where these stories are coming from. We have not even sat together to discuss the 2009 wax figures. We've had no meetings, no discussions, and no plans what-so-ever on what famous personalities we are looking to wax from Hollywood, Sports, Pop Singers, Bollywood and Politics. Come summer, we will be having a tentative idea but still no concrete decision on which Bollywood star will be waxed."
Well, one thing is clear - love them, hate them, wax them...but you can't ignore them. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 8 Apr 2008 | 5:05 pm
You can take this man out of Bollywood, but definitely not Bollywood out of this man. We are talking about the 'Bollywood's very own Encyclopedia of Acting' Mr. Ajay Devgan. Having made his debut with the mega hit Phool Aur Kaante, this man has time and again proved that he can easily carry off any (read 'all') kind of roles and responsibilities that's given to him.
There are people who will do just about anything to be in the limelight and then, there are people for whom the limelight will do everything to be on them. While we do not wish to name who fall in the first category (because it's very obvious), but one thing's for sure that Ajay Devgan falls in the latter category.

Vipul Shah and Anees Bazmee want the romantic song to be shot in places that the audience probably hasn't seen on celluloid before. Well, for all those whose minds have already started wandering, these pics were apparently taken during a photo shoot for designer Wendell Rodriguez few years back. But the question that comes foremost on our minds is why are these pictures in circulation now? Could it be some mischief-monger at work who has released these pics?

THE FILM
Exponential escalation in DVD sales has brought world cinema to home. One such film coming all the way from the Middle East is Al Risalah, which hardly saw a theatrical release in India a few weeks back but is now available on home video. Originally made in Arabic, the film has been dubbed in Urdu and comes with English subtitles to make the proceedings more decipherable.
Al Risalah is primarily a religious film, which talks about the message of Islam. It is mainly for a select segment of audience which aspires to learn and know more about how Islam originated and how the message was spread across globe. Though the proceedings may have turned out to be too theoretical in nature, it is to the credit of director Moustapha Akkad (of Syrian origin) that he adds on numerous dramatic elements to make the film cinematically viable.
Al Risalah is set around 600 AD in Mecca with Prophet Mohammed and his followers were working together to make the world believe in one God - Allah! The film projects how vested interest was one of the many reasons which made people follow various Gods. Also slavery was prevalent while women were mistreated. Since Mohammed spoke about equality, love and respect for all, his views were shunned by those on power. As a result, there was wide spread resentment, split amongst followers and battles which lasted for years. Eventually even cynics and opposition fell in line with the message of Islam and there was peace with the religion being embraced in various parts of the world.
What is notable about the film is the fact that the main character in the movie, Prophet Mohammed, hasn't been shown on the screen due to religious reasons. Even his voice isn't heard and in a few scenes where his presence is required, it is all indicative. The film is a multi starrer and is set on a grand scale. Shot mainly in Libya, the film has some great wide-angle shots of deserts. Battle sequences form a major part of the second half of the film and they lend a good visual appeal. Thousands of men fill up the frame, which give an authentic feel to the film. Also, since the film tells a tale which is centuries old, much thought has been given on sets, costumes and other artifacts which go with the era. However, at places, one does get a feeling of visuals coming close to what one saw years back in TV serial 'Bible Ki Kahaniyaan'!
Now let's talk about the surprise element of the film. Believe it or not but the film was made more than three decades back! Released originally in 1976, the film had it's own share of controversies when it aimed at a global audience. It was made simultaneously in English and released as 'The Message' with a different set of actors. This only makes one more in awe of the film since never once does one realize while watching the dubbed version that Al Risalah was shot decades back. Hats off to the film's technical crew for the finesse they were able to manage even then!
PACKAGING
The film comes in an ordinary paper packing which is only marginally better than the way pirated DVDs are packaged.
DURATION
The film comes in a single DVD pack with the film's duration being 160 minutes.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The DVD doesn't come with any special features.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen format
- Subtitles In English (Subtitled are a must for Al-Risalah since chaste Urdu dialogues make it hard for viewers to grasp the nuances of what happens on screen)
- Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo
PRICE
Rs. 99/-
CONCLUSION
The film requires immense patience to be watched in entirety. Close to three hours in duration, Al Risalah needs one to concentrate hard. Also, don't search for an out and out entertaining saga in Al Risalah. Though there are dramatic elements to tie the film together, there are long drawn messages and philosophical talk, which have an audience mainly in intelligentsia or those who are genuinely interested in knowing more about Islam.

Singer cum actress Sherlyn Chopra who has earlier been seen in small time flicks like Raqeeb, Naughty Boy and Red Swastik has taken the big leap. The âOutrageousâ babe has been signed for a prominent role by hold your breath Yash Raj Films for their forthcoming project starring Shahid Kapur and Rani Mukherjee. Incidentally this is the same film which also marks item queen Rakhi Sawantâs entry into the Yash Raj camp.
The film would be directed by debutant director Anurag Singh. Apparently Yash Chopra has been impressed with Sherlynâs abilities ever since he saw her film Red Swastik. In fact the veteran filmmaker even launched her recent album Outrageous.
Sherlyn is naturally excited about making it to the big league but isnât really in a mood to disclose much about her role in the film.
