Foreign trade policy to cut duties, generate employment

The annual review of the foreign trade policy (FTP) for 2008-09 would seek to further reduce import duties on essential items and generate employment, Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said Monday.

Boosted by exports, Hinduja Group's flagship company Ashok Leyland Ltd posted a marginal increase in the total sales of vehicles in 2007-08. The company closed the year with sales of 83,309 units (domestic 76,023 and exports 7,286).
