Katrina Kaif's sizzling number 'Sexy Lady' in Race, followed by the announcement of an item song in the sporty film Blue, has given the lady a va-va-voom image. She's surprisingly uncomfortable with her sensuous image. "I want to retain the image of the girl next-door. I don't want the hot image. Even in 'Sexy Lady', I'm fully clothed. I'm still the girl next-door. It's not the conventionally sexy kind of song. "
Race, where she's pitched for the sensuous sweepstakes against Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy has Katrina pulling out all the stops to erase the homely wholesome image.
The lady demurs. "I don't think so. Everything in Race looks larger-than-life very fulsome urgent and exaggerated. The actors are styled accordingly. I haven't done anything like it. Everyone's talking about it. I guess that's a good sign." Katrina is equally reluctant to accept that she's doing the most expensive item song ever in Tony's Blue.
"I wouldn't know about how expensive it is. But I'm doing a special appearance in Blue and the song-dance is part of it. Yeah I'm part of the film in a unique way. Akshay Kumar got me into it. As for the expenses, nowadays so many numbers are thrown into the public's face. I don't think it's right for actors to talk about the financial side of a film."
Next, ask her about the status of her relationship with Salman Khan and she clams up. "I'd like to keep that personal." Is it right to presume she's still with Mr Khan? "You can presume whatever you like. You can presume I'm an alien from outerspace, if you like. Right now I'm in a very happy place. Even rumours of us actresses fighting for space in Race is way off the mark. I've my own place in Race. My confidence-level has grown in recent times, and yes, it's partly because of the hits that I've had."
After a number of films where her voice was dubbed Katrina finally used her own voice in Namastey London. And now she says she has dubbed for Race. "I've been working very hard on my diction. I try to speak in Hindi in my daily dealings."
After being with Salman who patented the name Prem in a series of films, Katrina seems stuck with another Prem, Ranbir Kapoor, who's her co-star in Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
"I guess they're worth being stuck with." She replies tongue-in-cheek. "I just love the script, my character and Ranbir's role. He's so much into his work. I'm also getting there. For me acting is no longer a hobby." Source: Indiafm.com Features | 7 Apr 2008 | 3:58 pm
As one of Indian cinema's most formidable actresses reaches a milestone in her life, there will be no celebrations on the occasion. How unlike her husband Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday when there was a huge bash with the who's who of Mumbai attending.
Jaya, alas, believes in no celebration. Her 60th birthday on 9 April will be very quiet affair restricted to her immediate family.
Says a source close to the Bachchans, "Firstly, she wouldn't have celebrated even if things were normal. But this time with the family mourning her mother-in-law's death, there's no question of any celebration. When you tell her turning 60 is an event she shrugs and says it's just another day."
Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have in fact, left for Miami where Abhishek Bachchan is shooting for Karan Johar's Dostana. It's Abhishek-Aishwarya's wedding anniversary on 20 April. While Aishwarya is expected to stay back until the anniversary, Big B and his wife will return after Jaya's birthday.
Says the Big B, "We're just going to be with Abhishek for a few days. It's Jaya's 60th birthday on the 9th. There will be no celebrations because of the death." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Apr 2008 | 3:15 pm

There's a new development in Mahesh Bhatt's Raaz 2, that's being directed by Mohit Suri. We are talking about Adhyayan Suman, the sweet-spoken son of Shekhar Suman. He has been now roped in to play the role of a live-in lover of Kangana Ranaut.
Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Adhyayan said, "Yes, I have been signed for Raaz 2. I am playing a guy from the media world (a documentary film maker) who is Kangana's love interest in the film. We have a live-in relationship with each other in this film. What happens is that me being a practical guy from the media world, I am an atheist and I do not believe in spirits and ghosts. And there's something that happens to Kangana who gets infested by the ghosts et al. Since I am connected to the media world, my job comes in jeopardy as there start talks about me not believing in ghosts etc and here is my girlfriend who is 'possessed'. That's where an intrusion into our relationship takes place and Emraan Hashmi comes in after that."
When we asked him about the status of his debut film Haal -E Dil, he said "The promos will be on TV from the 20th of this month. I am paired opposite Amita Pathak. The rest of the star cast includes Tanuja (in a cameo) and also a special appearance by Ajay Devgan and Kajol. The promos of this film will start with U, Me Aur Hum. It will be released on June 20. Besides Raaz 2 and Haal -E Dil, I have an untitled film with Mohit Suri. The details of the rest of the cast are being worked upon. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Apr 2008 | 2:24 pm

'Are you nervous or excited?' This question has been frequently asked to the actor-turned -director Ajay Devgan in most of his interviews, who is making his directorial debut with U, Me Aur Hum. The film was screened especially for L.K. Advani (Sr. leader of BJP) at Films division in Delhi yesterday (April 6).
The Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad arranged a special screening of the film U Me Aur Hum for L.K Advani who incidentally has been a film critic before. After seeing the film, L.K. Advani was in awe of it and gave a standing ovation when the credits were rolled. He was touched by the movie. He saw the film with his wife. Among others who saw the special screening were Sushma Swaraj - another BJP pillar- and cast of the film which included Kajol, Karan Khanna, Sumeet Raghvan , Divya Dutta and needless to say Ajay Devgan.
Sushma Swaraj added that the film was indeed good but Kajol's performance was impeccable. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Apr 2008 | 1:23 pm

Priyanka Chopra is in seventh heaven. She has just started work on her new glamorous film Fashion. And her new home is almost ready. "And all the credit must go to Suzanne Roshan who's done up my house and Rita Dhody and Narendra Kumar who are styling my look in Fashion. Rita is my stylist and Narendra is my dress designer. They make an extremely talented team. It's very important to get the right look for every character. The mantra for 2008 is STYLE. And I plan to experiment lavishly with my look." Fashion is going to give Priyanka a startling look. "I start as a plain small-towner and then go ultra-chic as a model."
Suzanne Roshan, who has also done Rani Mukherjee's new place(along with another star-wife Twinkle Khanna) and Priyanka go back a long way. "We bonded beautifully when Duggu and I shot Krissh. Both of them are my close and dependable friends. Suzanne is just putting some finishing touches to them. And we're really looking forward to moving into it. It's looking fantastic. I'm very excited. I do own a place in Mumbai. But it's functional. I never had a chance to make it a home. My new place has been done brick by brick by me and Suzanne. It's a sweet modest little place. But hey, it's mera ghar!"
She cuts down reports of close astrological consultation for her new house. "Not that I don't believe in astrology. But the only thing we'll probably consult a pundit about is when to move in. Besides that all the reports of havens and pujas are false."
2007 was a year of tremendous turmoil for Priyanka. There were legal and police hassles regarding financial endeavours. At home her dad struggled with a serious illness.
Sighs Priyanka, "In 2007, I've just been busy doing commercials. And then there were other problems created by various people. I've accepted those as an inevitable part of each year. The more popular you get the more the number of people who want target you. That's fine. It's a professional hazard. You've got to take it in your stride. I'm glad I've my family to stand by me. They're my strength and my weakness."
Sighs the discreet diva, "I'm shooting for Karan Johar's production with Abhishek and John. Both the films will be over by July. So the first-half of 2008 is packed."
She's very about working with Abhishek and John again. "Abhishek and I had some fun times during Bluff Master and with John I did one of my toughest roles in Karam. I enjoyed that though it didn't work at the box office. But then a film doing well or not is in nobody's hands," says the actor who in five years has given the maximum number of hits and has earned the tag of the new-millennium Hema Malini.
She hopes to fashion a new success in Fashion. "It's actually becoming a much bigger film than what it was meant to be. Let's face it, success is important. And to me the box-office is very important."
Fashion is a special challenge. "The character requires a lot of hard work. The graph is so steep. Madhur Bhandarkar is keeping me on my toes constantly. Yes, I admit Krissh and Don didn't have as much space for me as Fashion. But one does all kinds of movies. I enjoy the experience of trying something new each time. In Fashion, I'm far more at the forefront than Krissh or Don. But the challenge is the same."
2007 had its share of agony and ecstasy for Priyanka. "But the best happening of the year was Dad coming home from hospital hopefully whole and healed. On the professional front, I had Salaam-e-Ishq at the beginning of the year and Big Brother later, both box-office disappointments. But I'm going to make up in 2008 with 4-5 releases beginning with the comedy God Tussi Great Ho with Salman."
Salman and Priyanka seem to have made up. "When were we ever at loggerheads?" she blinks diplomatically. "In 2007, I completed two mega-marathons Drona and Love Story 2050. These two films took up a lot of time. The shooting for these films took extra time because of the special effects. I also got hurt."
Priyanka is happy though not satisfied with her progress. "If I become satisfied I'll have to stop working." One unfulfilled wish? "I've never done a costume drama, though I've come close to doing one several times. Hopefully in 2009." Source: Indiafm.com Features | 7 Apr 2008 | 12:41 pm

Kunal Khemu is a thorough professional. He was shooting in Goa for his forthcoming underproduction film Jai Veeru when he fell ill. But knowing his dedication, people were not really surprised when inspite of very high fever, Kunal turned up for the shoot. He shot without cribbing.
"My fever was bad and I was definitely reeling under severe headache but I could not hold up the shoot for it. When there is a multi starrer, one need to have more understanding because other artiste's dates need to be coordinated. It is not easy. There were other artistes, location details, technicians, how could I let others suffer due to something that could be handled with medicines! Producers would have suffered losses. It's really nothing," shrugged Kunal. Since these were all action scenes, he required to shoot in hot sun, which aggravated the sickness. As a result, Kunal had to be hospitalized on his return to Mumbai because the illness became severe. Now the shoot sequence of a song in Bangkok with actress Anjana Sukhani is put on hold.
As for his director Puneet Sira (of I Proud To Be An Indian fame), he is extremely grateful because inspite of having very high fever, bad headache and giddy feeling Kunal continued to work. Not only this, the fever continued for two days, which meant he had to be shooting for that many extra days with high fever. He is all praises for Kunal. As for Kunal, he is advised complete bed rest by his doctor and is forced to recoup at home for at least for 10 days. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Apr 2008 | 9:45 am
How did you decide on doing the Cinthol ad?
Cinthol has always been about the energy. Its philosophy - don't stop regardless of the barriers - is very close to my heart. As long as there's movement there's progress. That's what the ad was about. And I went with that flow. Cinthol is being relaunched with my ad. The ad film is bigger than Dhoom 2.
In what way?
There was more action in the Cinthol ad than in Dhoom 2. It was so much fun. I did kayaking, free-running, bungee jumping, mountain climbing, mountain biking, diving into the ocean from the mountain and rugbyâ¦all crammed into one ad.
All this with a bad knee?
Well, they say adversity is the mother of all inventions. So I've found a way.
Adversity could also be the mother of all further adversities.
Ha. It gave me a chance to heal myself by my own formula. I'm doing all it takes.
After being ultra-choosy for so long you've decided to work extensively?
So far this year I've said yes only to Anurag Basu's Kites which he's making for my dad. But yes, in my mind I've green-signaled a lot more work. Actually, I've always been game for more work. I've never been in a position to lay down pre-conditions. My basic criterion is that I should be excited about the films I agree to do. And then those films should be completed within the stipulated time so that I'd have the time and freedom to take up more assignments.
What about the rumors of serious leg injuries during Jodhaa Akbar?
This is one of those false stories that have gained credence only because I've kept quiet. Let me state once and for all that the injuries did not happen during Jodhaa Akbar. My right knee has been facing a battering from the time I started training for Krissh. It was an ongoing process since 2004. The knee was crying for a break that I did not give it. We sometimes, forget how human we are. We start looking at ourselves as heroes immune to injury and pain. That's stupid. I've learnt it the hard way. Hopefully, I'll be fully cured soon, and I'll be back in action knee-down. I am a very physical person. When I see the outdoors, I just want to run. A story that Ram Gopal Varma had a hushed meeting with Dubai-based alleged don Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena in the bylanes of Mumbai, has the director scratching his head in puzzlement.
"I've never met the lady. In all my life I've probably seen one picture of her in the paper. I don't know where this story comes from. In fact, they invented a whole screenplay where I'm shown driving up to a secluded spot and the lady's car driving up to meet me. Then we both supposedly took off for an unknown destination. This is a better screenplay than any I can think up."
Ramu says the shooting of his new film Contract is over. "So, I don't need to do any research for my film. And I don't need to meet people who can help me to know more about the underworld."
