Post Celebrity Big Brother, Shilpa Shetty seems to be on a professional high. The tall and beautiful actress continues to make news, even though it's been more than a year since she stormed U.K. winning the reality show.
Now Shilpa whose last release was Apne surely seems to have jumped to the big league. The actress would be seen doing a 'special song' in Dharma Productions' Dostana starring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. This Karan Johar production, directed by Karan's erstwhile assistant Tarun Mansukhani is currently being shot in Miami. Bollywood Hungama spoke to Shilpa's publicist Dale Bhagwagar to get some more details on the song. "Yes, Shilpa is currently shooting in Miami along with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham for a really special song for the film Dostana. I wouldn't really call it an item number. However, the song is indeed going to be one hell of a sensational chartbuster. Let me put it this way, if she won over the nation with her U.P- Bihar song you can expect her to win a reasonable part of the world with this song", says Dale
So what else is Shilpa upto these days? "Shilpa would be starting work on her film The Man opposite Sunny Deol. It's a Vijeta films production and co-directed by Sunny Deol and Neeraj Pathak. Her role in the film is quite similar to what happened to her in real life (read the instant worldwide fame that she shot to). She also would be seen in the international flick Hanuman where she plays Sita and they are in talks with Keanu Reeves to play the role of Lord Ram"
What about her plans of getting into production? "Yes, Shilpa is starting her own production called S2 Global Production. The first thing which was made under S2 global Production was Shilpa's Yoga DVD which mainly released in the U.K. & international market. The first film under her banner is an action comedy to be directed by Manish Jha (Matrubhoomi, Anwar). It's a 2 heroine project with Shilpa playing one of the heroines. The second female lead would also be a very famous Bollywood actress. I can't reveal much now. The subject is mind-blowing. Any guy would admire the characters which the two girls portray in the film. It's an out and out fun film which will also have a lot of international technicians as a part of the crew", says Dale excitedly.
For all those who are eagerly waiting for Shilpa's Yoga DVD in India, there is good news on that front. "Yes she is going to release her Yoga DVD in India. Shemaroo has bought the rights at an astronomical price. Shilpa will be dubbing for it in Hindi when she returns from Miami. The DVD got a fabulous response in U.K. It was a sell-out among the non-fiction DVD charts. So we are looking forward to its release in India", signs off Dale.
Well, after speaking to her publicist all we can say is that Shilpa surely has her plate full and the next few months are bonanza time for die-hard Shilpa Shetty fans. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Apr 2008 | 2:47 pm
Now this one is being looked upon as the launch of the year!
While 2007 was particularly crowded with fresh talent making quite some impression on the big screen (Neal Nitin Mukesh, Ranbir Kapoor, Darsheel Safary, Muzammil Ibrahim, Himesh Reshammiya), 2008 hasn't quite been impressive in a similar way. With the likes of Nikhil Dwivedi (My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves) and Anurag Sinha (Black & White) not quite enjoying a box office success, Bollywood still awaits a bona fide launch, which would give the industry a new blue-eyed boy.
Well, if the first look of Love Story 2050 is any indication, Papa Harry Baweja certainly seems to be on just the right path to make this happen for beta Harman. The film's promo leaves you truly awed as you gasp for breath and look forward to catching it multiple times over you satiate your appetite. Simply put, 'Love Story' is just different and makes viewer witness something on the big screen which has never been made before in Indian cinema. What exactly are the highlights of Love Story 2050? Well, read on.
It is 'Time Machine'
One look at Love Story 2050 and you know that filmmaker Harry Baweja is making no pretensions in letting his audience know that it has it's germ lying in 'Time Machine', a classic sci-fi novel by H.G. Wells. The novel was about a scientist who built a time machine, which could take a human being into distant future.
Baweja's film too has Boman Irani playing this scientist, with an added eccentricity to his character, who has given 15 years of his life to invent this dream machine. The opening shots of this teaser takes audience through a brilliantly designed lab where Boman is shown jubilating with his successful invention.
The Travel Begins
Cards are laid out in open at the very onset as instead of dwelling into 'ishq-vish-pyaar-vyaar' of the leads, the film's USP - time travel - is brought to fore. Even though Harman's face isn't shown till the very end of the promo, his presence is much more than just felt as he along with Priyanka Chopra, are shown to take a travel into the future. The year where this journey is targeted? Yes, you guessed it right - 2050!
Mumbai Rocks
It is one Mumbai which would make everyone live for 42 more years at the least! Baweja's vision of Mumbai leaves one speechless with Gateway of India getting a swanky new look and skyscrapers making Manhattan look small. The best part of the enterprise is that in spite of everything shown on screen being a result of special effects and computer graphics, you get a sense of 'reality' in the running. Baweja's Mumbai indeed rocks!
But is everything Real?
Though Mumbai appears like never before, the shots, which follow result in your mouth being left wide, open in disbelief. An array of, what appears to be robots, fill the frame while the sets, which appear, carry a surreal appeal. And if this wasn't enough there is more to come in the form of the best shots from the film. Cars flying in the air in the middle of swanky buildings which could not be lesser than 100 floors tall manage to give an altogether different dimension to Love Story 2050. Add to that, a night effect and you are sure that even Hollywood would find some comparison building up when it comes to futuristic fantasy flicks coming from India.
Action Time for desis too
With such a classy and out of the world (pun intended) treatment to the film, is there a reason for the audience from the interiors or the hardcore lovers of action-masala-commercial Bollywood to be disappointed? Not really! Because Baweja manages to incorporate in Love Story 2050 something, which never goes out of style i.e. high-speed car chase! With some deadly highway action in motion, it appears that Race has a worthy successor on its way when it comes to high adrenalin rides.
But what about the Kids?
'Arrey bhai, yeh masala movie hai! Aur isme action bhi hain, emotion bhi hai, drama bhi aur kuch bachcho ke liye bhi hai! ' In what appears to be the journey of Harman and Priyanka into past when they were young, there are kiddie shots as well with some XBox games forming a part of the action. Watch out for a simulated fight between Zeisha and Karan; kids would certainly be enthralled. To add to the fun, there is also a teddy bear, which clearly appears to be much more than just a toy!
What about some Star Wars
It would be a strong sense of deja vu for those who have been born and brought up on the Star War series, both on the small as well as big screens. With glimpses of Harman fighting his own version of Star Wars and alien looking characters making an appearance, it is time for some deadly action to unfold on the screen. The highlight of these sequences is the high definition computer graphics and designer sets, which indeed take you to a world, hitherto unexplored. Truly, Love Story 2050 starts taking a different dimension altogether with passage of a shot-a-second, which comes the audience's way.
And then there was Love
While the promo begins with the caption - 'When Love Is Eternal Even God Bends His Rules', it nears it's conclusion with Harman's voice making a simple but eternally meaningful declaration - 'Saccha pyaar sabse bada hota hai'. With an array of romantic/high voltage shots, which follow, a grand finale comes in the form of unveiling of Harman Baweja.
The handsome young man stares confidently at screen with the entire team of Love Story 2005 making sure that his 'first look' turns out to be a worthwhile affair. Well, it truly turns out to be the case, as indicated by a parting caption on the screen - 'The Future Is Here'. Well, while saying so, we are sure that the makers of Love Story 2050 were talking about not just the concept of the film here but even the new blue-eyed boy - Harman Baweja! If you're impressed by Saif flaunting his skills on the strings in his new film, wait till you see his Dil Chahta Hai director rocking on stage in Rock On. Suddenly filmdom has a duo to give Guns 'N' Roses a run for their mayhem. Saif Ali Khan isn't the only one who's unveiled a secret passion for playing the guitar. Farhan Akhtar who plays a rock musician in Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On is also a certifiable rocker.
And now that Saif and Farhan are working together in Farhan's Voice From The Sky, will they be jamming together? Farhan laughs, "I don't mind. But I don't think I'm as good as Saif on the guitar. Not that we're in competition or anything." But yes, Farhan wouldn't mind playing with Saif. "Playing the rock musician in Rock On has been a wild fantasy come true for me. I've been playing the guitar for eight years now. When I was 14, I heard Guns 'N' Roses do their song 'Appetite For Destruction'. And I was hooked. I wanted to be a rock star. The timing for Rock On was just right. When I met Abhishek Kapoor and he told me about my role of a musician, I grabbed it. I had the time to sharpen my skills on the strings. It gave me a chance to play out a secret fantasy. I really enjoyed it."
Rock On recreates the musical mischievous masti of Farhan's Dil Chahta Hai.
But Farhan is all praise for his musicians. "They've all been wonderful-Luke Kenny, Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai and Shahana. We're all happy working together and meeting when we've time. That feeling of bonding shows up on screen."
Rock On will be released by the end of the August. And the music with Farhan's vocals will be out later this year. "I don't think Saif is planning to cut an album before me," Farhan jokes. "I'm really looking forward to working with him. For Voice From The Sky we both go back to the turn of the last century." Gun 'N' Roses is just decades away. The Chandni girl is back and how! The eternally reigning Queen Bee of Bollywood Sridevi, who had quit films at the peak of her career ultimately made a comeback in Lakme India Fashion Week. And Man! What a comeback that was. True to the saying, once a flower always a flower, she proved that once a heart-stopper, always and all-ways a heart-stopper! Year 2008 has a line up of some big films for release. The bigger the film, the more curiosity circling it. Singh is Kinng starring Akshay Kumar is one such film that invokes inquisitivity. Vipul Shah informs Bollywood Hungama that the preview of Singh Is Kinng will be screened along with Tashan on April 25, 2008.
"The promo of Singh is Kinng is not attached to the negatives of Tashan. But we are hoping to air it along with it in the theatres," says Vipul. Singh Is Kinng is about the Sikh community and Akshay Kumar would be playing the role of a Sardar. In relation to this, a one minute long tactical teaser has been made for the film. "We have a plan of celeberating Baisakhi since it's a film about the Sikhs although nothing is confirmed. We are in talks with many people and if everything falls into place then that would be the ideal day (April 13 or 14) to launch the first look of Singh Is Kinng," adds Vipul.
The music of the film would be released 8 weeks prior to the release of the film. The film also stars Katrina Kaif and Sonu Sood. It is directed by Anees Bazmee and the film is slated to release on August 8, 2008. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Apr 2008 | 5:04 pm

With two bumper hits in her kitty Vidya Balan's career is going great guns. Lots of commercial successes. Plenty to smile about. "I was very happy about all my five releases in 2007, though some of them didn't do well. From the very start when Dada (Pradeep Sarkar) showed so much faith in me by giving me Parineeta, the industry has made a substantial space for me. By the grace of God, there're lots of interesting roles happening. I'm in the process of signing some more. Since I came to cinema my criteria for signing a role remains unchanged. I've never been in a hurry to get anywhere. Things are happening at a pace I'm enjoying. And I'm not insecure. Jo hoga achcha hi hoga."
She ponders for a few seconds as kids approach her for her autograph at the airport. Then she says, âI don't regret anything. I'm a hopeless optimist. I feel what I've to go through will happen regardless of how much I fight it."
The industry is looking at Akshay Kumar and Vidya as a hit jodi after Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. "I'd love for us to be seen that way. Even Katrina-Akshay look great together. I'd love to work with Akshay again. Yes, we've offers together. He's a great co-star. The icing on the cake is our films together have worked."
In Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Vidya invested demoniacal energy. "Yes, it was a frightening experience. My director Priyadarshan handled the last 20 minutes of the story when I get into a supernatural rage of dance, very intelligently. I love Priyan. He's a man of few words. We even converse in Malayalam."
This year Vidya was supposed to do another film with Priyan. "But there's a problem with the leading man. I'd love to work with Priyan again. I've been fortunate in the fact that directors have signed me more than once."
So is she doing her Heyy Babyy director Sajid Khan's film? "There's been no formal talk on this. Sajid hasn't offered me the role. I've been reading reports that I'm doing the film. Right now, he's writing his next filmâ¦I'm lucky to be a part of the movie industry when leading ladies are no longer decorative. It's providential that I started with Parineeta."
She gets sentimental about Pradeep Sarkar. "Staying away from his second film Laaga Chunari Mein Daag was unbearable for me. I want to be part of his next film for sure.
Any hopes for 2008? "Add some spice to my own life and not wait for others to do it for me. I would like love to happen. But I'm not holding my breath for it. Yes, there're times when I get lonely. But most of the time I'm quite happy being with my family and myself."
Unlike Preity Zinta, Vidya has made no pledge to stay away from actors in her personal life. "Some people are doctors, others are actors. My companion can be from any walk of life. If he's an actor we can both carry our own mirrors to the sets and be narcissistic individually .And we can have mirrors all over the house. Instead of looking into each other's eyes, we can look into the mirrors," Vidya jokes and flies off to another destination. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 3 Apr 2008 | 2:22 pm
After an 8-month sabbatical, the irrepressible David Dhawan is back in the swing of things. Says the rejuvenated director, "The layoff has done me good. I needed the break from direction, yaar! It's not as if I was sitting idle at home. I was a judge on a dance show. That, I enjoyed thoroughly. I was finalizing the scripts for my next two films and spending time with my family." He intends to direct two films this year.
"The first would be for my friend Vashu Bhagnani with my dear friend Govinda in the lead. It'll be an out-and-out David-Govinda dhamaka, the kind audiences will expect from us. This would be my sixth film with Vashu, can you believe it? We still continue to believe in each other! We're looking for a dhamaal title for this film. But my next Hook Ya Crook written by Rensil D'Silva is a complete departure from everything I've done so far."
David's film for Vashu pairs Govinda with Lara Dutta once again after Ravi Chopra's Pappu Pass Ho Gaya. The film will also star Riteish Deshmukh. While the Vashu project takes him into familiar territory David has decided on a completely new team for Hook Ya Crook. "Rensil wrote the full script for me immediately after Rang De Basanti. He's an amazing writer. His film for me is unbelievable. I've decided on John Abraham for the lead. One more major leading man has to be selected. This is darkish film with violence in it. But nothing that would make audiences alarmed, 'Arrey yeh David Dhawan ko kya ho gaya?'
David's son Rohit is also ready to turn director this year. "In a couple of months, Rohit will ready with his project. I'll most probably be producing the film along with a corporate house." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Apr 2008 | 12:39 pm

By a quirk of fate, two of the films being released this week are about the isolation of an individual on the basis of his religious and cultural beliefs. The Shaurya leading man Rahul Bose calls it a "happy coincidence".
Says Rahul, "Shaurya is about discrimination. It's absolutely fantastic that Shaurya is coming alongside Khuda Ke Liye. I wish they had come one after another so that the message would've lingered. Maybe audiences will see one and go to the other. But I'm definitely catching Khuda Ke Liye."
On Thursday night, Rahul plays the consummate star at the premiere of Shaurya in Mumbai. "Ha ha. I'd play the consummate star if I was one. Since I'm a working-class actor, I'll just stick to acting. Premieres disturb me deeply. The audience has no respect for the film. It's all about the who's who. For my sanity, I'll step out and chat up with my director Samar Khan. After films are over, the director and actor lose touch. It's a very important film for Samar. As for me, my career is so insignificant in the larger scheme of things. Shaurya won't change me into a superstar."
Shaurya is one of the Rahul's rare films in Hindi. "But there are lots of dialogues in the English language. But I speak more Hindi than the other major characters. This is a fairly good week to release Shaurya. Next week, we'll again be sandwiched between two biggies." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Apr 2008 | 12:38 pm

The plot as they say thickens. Raj Thackeray, whose certain politically-laden remarks on Amitabh Bachchan sparked off parochial unrest in Mumbai, met up with Ram Gopal Varma on Tuesday and even watched a part of the film.
Says a source close to Ram Gopal Varma, "Raj and Ramu have been friends for some time now. In fact, when Sarkar based on Bal Tackeray's life was made it was Raj who co-ordinated between Ramu and the Shiv Sena supremo. Raj is very keenly interested movies. So when after chatting up, Ramu asked Raj if he wanted to watch some of Sarkar Raaj, Raj readily agreed. He watched about thirty minutes of the film and apparently loved it."
Raj Thackeray was amused to see one of the actors in Sarkar Raaj resembled him.
