Day 1 at the Lakme Fashion show saw the new Bollywood heart-throb Ranbir Kapoor walk the ramp for the first time for good friend and designer Arjun Khanna. The next day saw one of Bollywood's top designers Neeta Lulla walk the ramp in style with child prodigy Darsheel Safary. Well with such a rocking start to the fashion event, things could only get hotter on Day 3 and it did indeed when the incredibly beautiful Kangana Ranaut took stage for designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed.
The actress with curly hair set the stage on fire as she walked the ramp dressed in an off-shoulder embroidered top with a bright reddish-maroon skirt. She surely seemed to have made all the right moves if the crowd-cheering was anything to go by. Looks like all the training which she recently underwent for Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion, seems to have finally paid off for this beautiful actress. Shaurya is director Samar Khan's second directorial venture after the saccharine sweet Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye. The director is back with a different genre this time and has a bunch of talented actors on board like Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon, Javed Jaffrey and Minissha Lamba.
Shaurya is a story set against the army backdrop. Its a story of justice, honour, faith and above all, believing in yourself. A story of finding courage within oneself and doing whatever it takes to stand by one's beliefs. Hence the tagline of the film aptly states 'It takes Courage to make rightâ¦â¦right'

Post the success of Rang De Basanti, its screenplay writer Rensil D'Silva has surely entered the big league. The talented writer got his big break, when Karan Johar asked him to direct a film for his banner Dharma Productions.
We at Bollywood Hungama had told you earlier that Rensil's yet untitled film would star the hot-n-happening couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor along with yet another lead actor. Now it seems Rensil has finally found his second male lead. Bollywood Hungama spoke to Rensil to get the facts straight from the director's mouth, âYes it's true that I have found my second male lead and it's going to be Vivek Oberoi who will be playing that role. The film is a romantic thriller and Vivek has a very important role in the film. The film is Karan's idea and I have written the storyâ
Who else form part of the supporting cast? âWe have approached Om Puri and he has liked the script. So he is virtually on board.â
So, Vivek who was earlier seen in Dharma Productions' Kaal is back in KJo's camp. We also quizzed the director on his shooting plans, âWe plan to start shooting sometime in mid-October. The film would be entirely shot in Londonâ
Considering Karan's films are known for their music, who would be composing the music this time around? âAs of now it is Salim-Sulaimanâ, signs off Rensil. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Apr 2008 | 11:03 am
Amole Gupte: "On 1 April 2006, I was chosen by Aamir Khan to begin work on Taare Zameen Par. Good joke, that one! And I don't remember pulling a joke as cruel as this on anyone, Fool's day or no fool's day.
Anupam Kher: "My cover for Cine Blitz when I posed for the femme fatale Prabha Devi. That was historic. No one knew it was me. And Prabha Devi was flooded with proposals."
Neil Nitin Mukesh: "The worst April Fool's joke I pulled was on my cousin Naman. He was waiting anxiously for his exam results. I told him he had fared poorly. Poor guy bought it. I had to quickly tell him it was a joke.
The joke was on me when I was looking for work and one of my cousins called up pretending to be Karan Johar. When I landed up at the address given my cousin opened the door grinning. If looks could killâ¦
Niharika Singh: "The worst April Fool's prank that I played was on one of my closest friends Tanya. I told her I was diagnosed with a terminal illness. She cried and was very upset not realizing it was April Fool's day. Next day when I told her the truth she was even more upset. No one has ever pulled a prank like that on me. I'm too smart to fall for it.
Kushal Punjabi: "No one has gotten away with an April Fool's joke on me. I'm too sharp and my antennae are always up on 1st April. I played a prank on my girlfriend when I told her I was leaving for the States, took some suitcases bid her a tearful goodbye at the airport. When I showed up at her door she was livid rather than relieved to have me back. These girls, I tell you.
Ranvir Shorey: "The joke is normally on me since I never know when 1st April comes along. Friends uthao full fayda of my calendar blindness.
Sonu Sood: "Once my cousin called me for her wedding in Punjab. I was surprised and thrilled. They told me it was arranged all of a sudden and that I was required over the weekend. I quickly booked my tickets left my work and got thereâ¦only to be told the family had fooled me into coming since they were missing me.
My biggest prank was on an AD when I hid my clothes and pretended to get angry at him when he couldn't find them. While the man looked frantically for my clothes I stood right in front of him wearing the 'lost' shirt. The entire unit was in splits, but the AD wasn't amused.
Rensil D'Silva: "Once I told some media trainees they had to provide their stool and urine samples in the morning to the ad agency's resident doctor. All of them dutifully marched to the doc's door and handed over their invaluable packets to the man's wife.
Anurag Sinha: "When I was a child, my parents pulled an April Fool's prank on me by saying they were sending me to boarding school. They later told me it was only to discipline me. However, the gag turned true when some time later they did pack me off to the Scindia School in Gwalior. Since the school is situated at a historical fort, we would tell our juniors ghost stories and appear out of bushes covered in white sheets to scare them on April Fool's Day. After a while the prank stopped working. Such is life.
Anant Mahadevan: "The best or worst April Fool's prank I pulled was by phoning a customs official imitating Mr Bachchan's voice from KBC and telling him his friend was on the hot seat. The friend, I told the officer, had already won 10 lakhs and wanted to know an answer. He hounded her after that wanting to know why she hadn't told him she was going on KBC. No one has yet pulled a grand prank like this on me yet. Maybe I'll get lucky this year.
Amrita Arora: "I haven't pulled any prank. But I got one pulled on me once. My friend from school told me she had run away and gotten married and that I had to inform her parents. Later it turned out to be just a hoax.
Sophie Chodhry: "The worst one I pulled was back in college exactly at 12.01 am. I was chatting with a guy I had just started seeing. For no reason at all I picked a fight with him and decided to break up. He couldn't believe it. Everything between us was so perfect he just couldn't understand what had happened. He kept calling and I didn't take his calls. The kahani mein twist is that he didn't take my calls. He had figured out my prank and decided to make me pay for it. I was so miserable thinking he had taken it all so seriously. At the end of the day we decided to call it quits and had a hearty laugh. I guess I had met my match."
Dino Morea: "The best prank would be telling my folks I got married a couple of years agoâ¦The worst prank pulled on me was in school when I was dying to be a school captain. Friends came running on 1st April to say the principal was looking for me to give me the good news. I ran into the principal's office only to be told, 'What can I do for you, son?' That's when I got it. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 1 Apr 2008 | 9:22 am

Even though they are living with Mr. Fraud for close to two years, they continue to be passionate about the film. Not just that, there is certainly an emotional quotient attached with the film since for director duo of Abbas Mustan, this would have been their second action comedy in recent times after Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baadshah. Besides, this is also the first time that they are working with Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan.
However, their hands seem to be tied up for the moment since Mr. Fraud hasn't quite been making progress even though a major part of the principal shoot (close to 70%) has already been completed. So what exactly is going wrong?
Says Abbas calmly without showing any signs of irritation, "Ab yeh to aap producers se hi poochiye (Now ask this question to Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd., who are producing the film)! We are ready to get started any time they want; we have our dates available as after Race, we don't have anything else on floors."
Even though the film was started way back in 2006 and was supposed to arrive in September that year, some or the other problem plagued this Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu, Tanushree Datta and Anuj Sawhney starrer. While Sanju's personal problems were the reason behind the delay in the film, there were hassles around combination dates of all the stars as well which resulted in the film's shoot getting postponed.
"For us, Mr. Fraud is a very interesting project", continues Abbas, "We love what we have shot so far and the script is the kind which yet again is quite different for Hindi film audience. Also, the unique combination of Sanju, Ajay, Bipasha and Tanushree makes it special."
He goes on to add, "Sanjay Dutt has already shot for his solo lead film Kidnap which is again produced by Ashtavinayak. Now it's upon Ashtavinayak people to let us know when they want us to resume the film's shoot."
Meanwhile, the director duo, fresh after the super-success of Race, are continuing to build upon their production plans. After signing Rumi Jaffrey, Rohit Jugraj and Nishikanth Kamat for directing films for their production house, they are also working on the script of their next film for which they will be donning the director's hat. Ashwani Dheer whose feature-film debut One Two Three was released this week has just returned to Mumbai from Delhi after a panel discussion on the bureaucracy and redtapism on NDTV. "I guess they thought me fit for this because I've been making that long-running sitcom Office Office about the babu culture," laughs Ashwani Dheer.
Happy with the way his comedy has opened, Ashwani is already on to two other projects. "There's one for my One Two Three producer, Kumar Mangat, which is an out and out comedy. My other project is Dedh (1 ½) for Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment. The film is about the relationship between a man and a child." Sanjay Dutt plays the lead. "The hunt is on for the child," says Dhir. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Apr 2008 | 8:30 am
As reported earlier, Sajid Khan had signed Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone for his second directorial film titled Housefull, which is being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, who had also produced his maiden venture Heyy Babyy.
Incidentally, this will be Akshay Kumar's second film with Deepika, after Chandni Chowk To China. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to Sajid Khan, he, brushing aside the rumors of Big B's presence in his film, said "I had informed you earlier about the trio of Akshay, Deepika, and Riteish, being signed for my film. In addition to that, I have now signed Jiah Khan as the second lead heroine in the film. And I am on a lookout for the third girl."
This film is going to be a multi starrer romantic comedy. It is expected to go on floors later this year. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Apr 2008 | 8:17 am

Watched two movies back-to-back last week -- SHAURYA and KHUDA KAY LIYE, which, incidentally, happens to be the first Pakistani film to release in India. Both tackled serious issues. Both spoke of the injustice meted out to Muslims. Both have been helmed with utmost maturity and sensitivity by directors Samar Khan and Shoaib Mansoor, respectively.
Let's begin with KHUDA KAY LIYE. I've watched several Lollywood movies of late, but I'd like to reserve my opinion about them. But KHUDA KAY LIYE was a refreshingly different experience altogether. Of course, a detailed review will appear on the day of its release in India, but I'd like to say that the director has the courage to present the viewpoint of the fundamentalists as also the liberated Muslims in the most convincing manner.
It's the penultimate 20 minutes [Naseeruddin Shah's bravura performance] that bowls you over. Years ago, the courtroom sequence in B.R. Chopra's INSAAF KA TARAZU was the talk of town. KHUDA KAY LIYE will be talked about for various reasons, but mainly for the courtroom sequence in the finale. Here's a director to watch out for!
I was disappointed with Samar Khan when I watched KUCHH MEETHA HO JAYE. Perhaps, I expected more from him. But Samar has taken a giant leap in his second outing SHAURYA. Sure, it has an army backdrop, but it's not a war film [let me clear this misconception].
SHAURYA has a tight script, great performances [Rahul Bose and Kay Kay Menon are outstanding] and an explosive climax. In fact, the penultimate portions are simply hair-raising. As for Samar, this film will earn him tremendous respect. In times to come, Samar should rank on the wish-list of many actors! Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Apr 2008 | 7:53 am
Deepak Tijori is all geared up to start his new venture, after a hiatus. The actor-director, who won critical acclaim in his previous film FAREB, is all set to start a thriller next, with Sunny Deol heading the cast. Produced by Zee Motion Pictures, the film has an interesting title -- FOX.
âA fox is considered a cunning animal. Hence, we're calling it a cunning thriller,â Tijori confides. Deol has already heard the script and has allotted bulk dates for the project. âWe begin filming in May and would wrap the shooting by September,â he states. The balance cast is under finalization. Kamal Pandey and Tijori have co-written the script. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Apr 2008 | 7:38 am
Any producer would give his left arm to sign a winning combination. And if the combination happens to be Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal and director Priyadarshan, the HERA PHERI combo, its paancho ungliyaan ghee mein. And the Jains of Venus have achieved it!
âWe had signed Akshay and Priyadarshan some time back. Later, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty were also cast for pivotal roles. Yes, itâs a comedy, but let me clarify, itâs not HERA PHERI. Or even remotely similar to it,â producer Ratan Jain enlightens me. The makers havenât titled the film yet. The film will be shot in one schedule, from September to December.
