Contrary to a report in a tabloid saying the Big B plans to do a game show on Zee TV, the mega-star, currently busy with his various film assignments, has no intention of going into television in the near future.
Says a source close to the Bachchans, "Mr Bachchan has no plans for television right now. After the spectacular success of Kaun Banega Crorepati, there was no dearth of assignments on television. At one point, three or four channels were vying for Mr B's exclusive presence. He was even toying with idea of doing a soap on a channel."
Television for now is a thing of the past for the Big B. "His heavy work- load and the stress put on his energy level by various professional and social commitments do not permit him the luxury of dabbling in a new medium at the moment. Maybe later. But for now, no television."
That puts an end to speculations in the media about the Big B's return to television. Source: Indiafm.com News | 10 Mar 2008 | 4:21 pm

Contrary to reports in a section of the press Carpet Boy to be written by Faroukh Dhondy won't be Deepa Mehta's first true-life story. In July this year, she finally starts filming Luna, the true life story of environmentalist, Julia Hill, who 'embraced' the trees of California and lived on top of one for nearly two years to prevent ecological devastation.
Deepa who's currently co-directing the comedy, Stella, in Delhi with her brother Dilip Mehta goes into Luna in July. And then she shoots a big Hollywood epic, Land Of The Morning Calm, again based on a true story for a big American studio.
"So, if anything, Carpet Boy is my third true-life film in a row," she laughs. "It's the story of a Pakistani boy called Iqbal Masih who single-handedly changed laws pertaining to child labour in the carpet-weaving industry. For his crusading spirit, Iqbal was murdered."
Deepa says Carpet Boy would be a departure from all the films she has directed so far. "This film is based on Faroukh Dhondy's script. And I'll direct it at the end of 2009." Source: Indiafm.com News | 10 Mar 2008 | 1:26 pm

Lara is on a fast track now. There's a new determination in her to overcome her inhibitions, whatever they might be worth. While she prepares to do her first ever avant-garde film Devdas with Sudhir Mishra where she intends to change her entire image and get-up to play a modern-day Paro, in a new sporty film entitled Blue, Lara has gone several steps further. She has actually managed to overcome her fear of the underwater to do some serious scuba- diving with the ever-sporty Akshay.
For years now Lara has been petrified of taking the plunge. Akshay urged her to not only accept a film that needed her to go against her ingrained fears, but also helped her out of the dive-despair.
Laughing throatily, Lara admits she has gotten over a lifelong fear. "But I can't speak about what it is. Yes, Akshay's natural sporty spirit is highly contagious. And it did help me to take the plunge."
She reminisces fondly about Akshay. "He was my first co-star in Andaaz and very very helpful. Then we did Bhagam Bhaag when he was fully into comedy. I didn't know I had a comic streak in me until then. Now that he's returning to action, I'm also moving on from comedy to action big time." Man's world is show -world. Even a free-spirited actress like Lara has to follow in the leading man's footsteps. Source: Indiafm.com News | 10 Mar 2008 | 10:20 am
The John Abraham-Deepa Mehta mutual fan club now threatens to spill over into several films. After Water, Deepa had signed her blue-eyed boy to play a pivotal role in her Bachchan project Exclusion. That ambitious epic has now been put on hold. But John needn't despair. He's now doing a more mainstream Hollywood film Luna with Deepa.
Explains the director, "Exclusion is a very ambitious project. And it's a script I'm writing on my own. Luna is something that almost fell into my lap. Warner Brothers gave me a ready script by David Ward. David's script for Luna was given to me ready to be directed. It was too hard to resist."
It was of course Deepa's idea to cast John. "And why not? After working with John I realized what a wonderful human being he is. He just brings so much positive energy to the location. And he's so willing to learn and participate. John was my first and last choice for Luna. If I have my way and if he fits in I'll cast him in all my films," says the director who has had some very unfortunate run-ins with Bollywood stars in the past.
She brushes them aside to say, "John will be in Exclusion too. Yes, that project will be on hold for the time being. Right now I'm revved-up about Luna. It addresses itself to a favourite subject, the environment. From the start I've been a child of Nature. Water is a very strong ecological element. The love for Nature is another factor that binds me with John. And of course the fact that my mother adores him just ends all discussion. Source: Indiafm.com News | 10 Mar 2008 | 10:06 am

Race
Pritamâs âdhoomâ continues. âSexy Ladyâ has been premiered and the response has
been phenomenal to say the least. Hailed as the best track amongst all other chartbusters from this Abbas Mustan film, the song is all set to
ensure the reign of âRaceâ well till the filmâs 21st March release.

Jodhaa Akbar
If not for the âSexy Ladyâ ammunition which has exploded in a big way, âJodhaa
Akbarâ would well have given tough competition to âRaceâ for the place at the top. The album is doing quite well now and making a continued
impression.
The album relies heavily on âAzeem O Shaan Shahenshahâ and âJashn E
Bahaaraâ

Taare Zameen Par
Back into the Top-3 after being thrown out of the elite company by âJodhaa
Akbarâ, âTaare Zameen Parâ has displaced âJab We Metâ. One impatiently waits for the filmâs DVD to arrive and hopes that it doesnât take as
long as âLagaanâ which came years after the filmâs release!

Jab We Met
Out of Top-3 but still pretty much in circulation, âJab We Metâ still spins
itâs magic all around. It would require one real blockbuster album to displace it from Top-5. Would âJannatâ followed by âTashanâ be two such
albums?

Om Shanti Om
Back into Top-5 after being on the edge for last few weeks, âOm Shanti Omâ
continues itâs dream run that began last winter. Just like the music followed by film, the DVD sales of âOm Shanti Omâ too are breaking
records all over!

U Me Aur Hum
After a fortnight at #5, âU Me Aur Humâ shows a minor decline by a spot. Not
quite bothering though since there are number of other entertaining songs in âU Me Aur Humâ which are waiting to be unveiled. Also, in the
process of making an impression in the charts, it has already left âKrazzy 4â far behind (the film releases on the same day as âU Me Aur
Humâ) which is not able to find a place in the charts in spite of SRK power!
Vishal Bhardwajâs music typically takes time to grow. For some impatient folks,
it may prove to be a hindrance!

Black & White
Staying consistent in the weekend of the filmâs release, the music of âBlack &
Whiteâ in fact shows a jump in the charts. âMain Chalaâ and âPeer Manavanâ are the pick of the lot and helping the music sell.
Except for a couple of songs, the music of âBlack & Whiteâ doesnât have much of
an audience going for it

Welcome
Managing to stay on at the bottom of the charts, âWelcomeâ is still finding a
loyal set of audience for itself. Surprisingly, the songs are popular not just amongst the masses but also up-market discotheques, pubs and
clubs!
âJo bikta hai who achcha haiâ â what else can one comment around âWelcomeâ, the
music of which has been a surprise success

Sunday
With hardly much of a competition around, âSundayâ holds on to find a Top-10
place. The DVDs of the film have hit the stands and that should continue to keep âSundayâ in circulation.
Even though âSundayâ boasts of good music, surprisingly the music company is
not continuing to publicize it at all. The promotion has come to an abrupt end ever since the film completed itâs box office run.

New
One Two Three
While Kumar Mangatâs âSundayâ is exiting both from the theaters and music
charts, his âOne Two Threeâ has managed to creep into the Top-10 charts. Title song is hugely catchy and this sole number is good enough to
help the music reach out to masses.
Raghav Sachar's music is an above average fare though one had far more
expectations from the composer/singer who always has something new to offer

Tabu on her Telugu film, the item number she would like to do, her
desire to act as a waitress and reluctance to promote her films.
No, she will not talk about her lunch with Uma Thurman.
You are back to your vanishing acts, avoiding the media and making
minimal public appearances?
I'm bored of this question.
How was the lunch that Uma Thurman hosted for The Namesake cast in New York?
That lunch has been over-hyped. Ask Irrfan Khan. He'll give a more interesting answer.
So, is this going to be one of those interviews again?(Laughs) You tell me? Ok, let's start again, shall we?
After last year's double whammy of Cheeni Kum and The Namesake, you
have signed a Telugu film Idi Sangati.
How do you explain that?
I can't sit at home and wait for something big to come my way. I had to
choose from what was offered to me and Idi Sangati made sense. The
director waited for two-and-a-half years to make the film with me.
Also, it's a comedy-a genre I've wanted to do for a long time.
Isn't doing a regional film after The Namesake, which took you to a
global audience, a bit unsettling?
I started out with Telugu films and shooting in Hyderabad suits me.
Since I'm not a cosmopolitan city-bred girl, doing a regional film is
not really a departure for me. I can relate to it. That's why I've
signed another Telugu film, Panduranga, directed by my guru, K
Raghavendra Rao. I'm really excited about it since I play a
Devdasi-something I've never attempted before-in it. I didn't plan for
this big project though. Like everything else, this too just fell in my
lap.
So, you never plan?
Never. Planning doesn't suit my temperament. I act on instinct when I
am offered a film.
What is your most important selection criterion for doing a film?
Personal comfort. I've become choosy about the people I work with.
Why are you so reluctant to promote your films?
I feel fake saying all those good things about a film. I can't do that
unless I really believe in a film.
Which was the one film you really believed in and liked promoting?
(Thinks hard) Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities. I enjoyed doing every
shot of the film. It was like a treat.Recently, there were reports of you doing Deepak Tijori's film in English, Zoya Akhtar's untitled project opposite Farhan Akhtar and Shoojit Sircar's Shoebite starring Amitabh Bachchan. But you have denied that you are working on these films.(Sighs) The directors and I were only in the process of talking about whether or not to do the films. I was never doing them. I hope to find better ways to deal with such reports. So far, the only way I've dealt with them is detaching myself from them so that they don't occupy my mindspace. To be honest, I'm unable to cope with the media's intrusion in our lives. I can't handle "who wore what, who ate what, who said what"kind of reportage. I tell myself to ignore it. Even denying such news would give it undeserved importance. I have just
two requests. I wish the directors refrain from announcing that I am
doing their film until I sign the contract and that the media publishes
better pictures of me.
Fair enough. So what's the deal with this sensuous dance number that
you've done in Idi Sangati?
(Shocked) Where did that come from? It's not even a dance. It's just a
slow, sensuous song.
Ever want to do an item song?
Oh, yeah. Why not? It'll be great. There won't be any onus on me in
that case. I'll go as a guest on the sets and have fun.
At the Star Screen awards, you said Amitabh Bachchan made you look good in Cheeni Kum. Do you really think so?
Of course. It was unusual for the two of us to be cast together, that
too in a romance. If we were to do another film together, the script
would have to suit both of us.
Do you feel bogged down by the heavy roles that filmmakers offer you?
That's the disadvantage of being stereotyped. On the one hand, it's
good to have a type for yourself and then it's up to you to continue
with it or not. If people feel I can do heavy and emotional roles well,
then I must be convincing. But it has nothing to do with who I am as a
person. Maybe, my face or appearance suits such roles. Physicality is
the first thing a viewer notices while judging an actor's performance.
But all this doesn't bog me down. I know I'll do a role only if I want
to. Otherwise, I say no.
What is that one role that you really want to do?
A waitress in an American diner kind of setting. I like those characters.
Any plans of directing a film?
Maybe. I don't know. Not for the next five years though. If I have a
story to tell or even one line that I want the audience to know, I'll
do it. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 10 Mar 2008 | 8:10 am
