It is not everyday that one gets to see Salman Khan at his humorous best. Salman made a grand entry on the sets Amul Star Voice of India

Salman gets into the groove then thereâs no stopping him. He danced with the Chhote Ustadâs contestants, Aishwarya, Anvesha and
Prakriti.
But the real treat was something totally unexpected. Salman on the request of his kid fans and audience removed his shirt in the true
âSalman-i-shtyleâ. He flexed his muscles and drove the audience wild. "We all, including the audience went crazy when he took off his shirt.
This was the best episodic shoot I have ever experience; it was filled with fun", said the Chhote Ustad contestant, Aishwarya who has been a

Even as Bollywood producers continue to "remake / rip-off / adapt / modify" films from foreign sources without a by-your-leave, producer-director Ravi Chopra is very happy and at peace for having lawfully purchased the rights of Jonathan Lynn's 1992 courtroom drama My Cousin Vinny.
"Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is now almost complete. And we haven't retained too much of the original idea except the thought of young boys getting into legal trouble and being bailed out by a benevolent lawyer. The rest is all ours. Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai hardly looks like My Cousin Vinny. Still, we went out of our way to acquire the original's rights. I'd advice other Bollywood directors to do the same before remaking a film. All it cost us is one percent of the total budget of the original film. And then no one points a finger at you."
One of the major changes introduced into Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is a love triangle among Govinda, Lara Dutta and Tabu. Says Chopra, "Tabu's character was never there in the original. We wrote her into the courtroom drama as a public prosecutor who falls for defense lawyer, Govinda. What we really liked about this story was its social relevance. Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai questions the loopholes in the legal system. It also shows how any man no matter how humble his background, can rise in life provided he's willing to persevere. Govinda plays a guy who climbs out of his backward background to become a lawyer. Our banner B R Films has always been associated with socially relevant films. We addressed ourselves to the rehabilitation of prostitutes in Sadhana in 1958 and to widow rehabilitation in Babul in 2006. Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai continues our tradition." Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, Raj Thackeray, who was in the midst of controversies last month, has decided to do something special for the film industry.
The political leader plans to set up a union in order to improve the working conditions of workers in the film industry. Some prominent Bollywood personalities like Sunil Shetty, Sajid Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar and Sajid Nadiadwala have decided to support this move of Raj Thackeray.
The union would be called Maharashtra Navnirman Cine Workers Association (MNCWA).
Actors like Sunil Shetty felt that such a union would help in providing safe working conditions to those working on the sets. Even filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala seemed quite concerned with the existing medical and health care facilities available for workers in the film industry.
The union would also fight for the rights of its laborers working in the film industry.
Well, hope it does provide to some relief to those working in the big bad world of Bollywood. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Mar 2008 | 1:55 pm
Singer and actress Sophie Choudry of 'Ek Pardesi' fame is back with her new album. The talented singer who already has many hit albums to her credit is really excited about this album as she herself is the executive producer for the first time and hence could really be in control. Bollywood Hungama spoke to the hot babe on what one can expect from her new album, "I am really excited about my new album (yet to be titled) which should release sometime in May. There are around 9 original songs sung by me, which are a mix of dance, electro, R&B, hip-hop kind of feel but with Indian melodies."
The news is that there are multiple music directors who have worked on this album, "Yeah the music is composed by Bappa Lahiri, Biddu, Rishi Rich and two other people whose names I would like to reveal later. As for the lyrics, Panchhi Jalonvi (who has written lyrics in films like Dus Kahaniyaan, Cash etc.) and I have written the songs"
So how was Sophie's experience working with Rishi Rich considering that both have a U.K. connection, "The experience has been fantastic. We both like the same kind of music and gel very well. He is a dear friend of mine. We have waited to work with each other for the last 3 years and finally it has happened. I went to London to record two songs with him and it was a great experience. I don't need to tell you that he is incredibly talented. He has his own unique style and I am really looking forward to hearing my vocals on his music"
We quiz her on parting ways with T-series who produced few of her earlier albums, "Yeah, I did part with T-series 3 months ago though very amicably. They had a huge role to play in my career. We are on fantastic terms. However, in terms of music they wanted me to carry on doing another remix album and that was not where I really wanted to go. So, they understood and we decided to part ways for this album"
As for her acting career, Sophie who was last seen in films like Speed and Aggar is now looking forward to Sanjay Gupta's Alibaug, "I am super-excited about it. It's a very meaty and emotional role. I am thankful that Sanjay Gupta gave me this character. Sanjay Suri and I have a very interesting angle to our roles in the film."
With lots happening on the career-front, Sophie surely is riding high and signs off saying, "It is going to be some really good music and films for me this year." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Mar 2008 | 1:27 pm

If reports from Pakistan and the makers of The Killer are to be believed, the film has seen a far better response than Bhatts own Awarapan and
Gangster. This is not all as the film is also challenging Welcome, which is running at packed houses there.
Starring Emraan Hashmi, Irrfan Khan and Nisha Kothari (now Priyanka Kothari) in the lead roles, the film is doing bumper business and in Pakistan and is running
simultaneously with all aforementioned films.
Emraan Hashmi, who is perpetually composed whether on a high or low, says calmly, "I am informed that the film has opened to a great response in Pakistan.
Journalists and reporters from Pakistan tell me that the film's business is on par with Welcome, which is a great sign. I guess it was high time that the film got
the recognition it deserved."
When released in India two years back, The Killer couldn't create any waves at the box office. It came in the time when it had to face competition from
Omkara and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. "I guess that's what you call destiny. Chalo koyi baat nahi. Indian nahi to kam se kam Pakistani audiences
have embraced the film," smiles Emraan.
Satish Anand, CEO of Eveready Pictures - Pakistan has been quoted as saying, "In the last one year, we have had a few releases from India and in the next one year we
expect permission for the release at least 12 more films and that too simultaneously with India. Viewers here are already watching Indian films on cable all the time,
but the excitement of going to the cinema and being able to watch the latest releases on big screen is definitely something completely different."
The move is expected to hit piracy racket prevalent in Pakistan in a big way. Owner of a video library in Karachi has a point of view when he says, "Until now, pirated
DVDs were the only source of Indian films in Pakistan but that would change with this new progress. With Indian films arriving directly on the big screen, the DVD
industry in Pakistan would surely be impacted."
Exhibitors are elated though. "With the exchange of films, even those who previously weren't going to the cinema, will now probably do so to catch the latest
attractions," says Ashir Gill, General Manager of the Universe Cineplex in Karachi.
Director duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala, for whom The Killer was their first stint behind the camera as independent filmmakers, is unable to
conceal their happiness. Comments Hasnain, "We are aware that The Killer or The Train didn't cover the kind of distance at the box office as they
deserved. However, the success of The Killer in Pakistan has come as a welcome relief."
Adds Raksha, "Imagine the film being a bigger success than Gangster? Gangster has such a popular score and is genuinely a well-made film by Anurag
Basu. On the other hand, Welcome has Akshay Kumar as the star power with such great humor by Anees Bazmee. It is an honor to be not just running alongside
these films but also giving them tough competition!"
It was the release of Akbar Khan's Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story in 2006 and Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan in 2007 that had kick started the exhibition of
Indian films in Pakistan. With Government of Pakistan allowing nation wide exhibition of Indian films, the door is wide open for many more Bollywood flicks to hit the
Pakistani screens. Coming days would see Ajay Devgan's Sunday and Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par to see a release in Pakistan. Meanwhile there are
also talks around Jodhaa Akbar to make its way into theaters there. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Mar 2008 | 11:05 am

He's penned one of the most successful shows on television [OFFICE OFFICE] and has three films lined up for release in the next few weeks. Ashwani Dhir may be unknown to film buffs, but the writer-director makes his directorial debut with the laughathon ONE TWO THREE. That's not all, for Ashwani has two more films lined up for release - KRAZZY 4 [he's penned the screenplay and dialogues of this film] and U ME AUR HUM [he's the dialogue writer here].
ONE TWO THREE revolves around three characters, all having the same name - Lakshminarayan. The promos of the film remind you of Priyadarshan's HERA PHERI. "It's not inspired by HERA PHERI at all. Sure, I've seen the works of Priyadarshan and HERA PHERI is a classic that has timeless appeal. However, ONE TWO THREE is not HERA PHERI, though I pray it goes the same way vis-Ã -vis the recall value," Ashwani states.
Prior to the release of ONE TWO THREE, Ashwani has been involved in a controversy, with Upen Patel, one of the actors in the film, getting miffed with the director for chopping off his role. Also, the leading ladies [Esha, Tanisha, Sameera] didn't vibe too well with one another. "Not just Upen, I've chopped off Esha and Sameera's songs as well. Besides, I've edited Suniel-ji and Paresh-ji's sequences. All for the betterment of the film. The original length was 2.30 hours, which was brought down to 2.09 hours. Going by that logic, even Esha, Paresh-ji and Suniel-ji should be upset, but they aren't," he clarifies.
Even before the release of his debut film, Ashwani has bagged two more assignments, to be produced by Kumar Mangat [ONE TWO THREE] and Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment, respectively. Talks are on with Sanjay Dutt for Suniel Shetty's production. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Mar 2008 | 7:31 am

Sources claim that Pritam's track 'Jaane Kyun' in the movie Bhram, is a note-to-note lift of a Bengali song 'Ghare Pheraar Gaan'. However, the music composer says a controversy is being created as a publicity stunt and that all accusations of plagiarism against him are totally false and baseless.
Plagiarism is not exactly a revelation for Bollywood's billion-dollar music industry. Jogging our memory a little, music stalwarts Bappi Lahiri and Anu Malik have often been accused of lifting melodies and tunes from western tracks and replicating them with Indian lyrics. But this time around, it's contemporary music maestro Pritam who have been alleged of plagiarism. An industry insider, on condition of anonymity, informs, "Pritam usually takes caution when it comes to drawing his 'inspiration', so he settles for lesser-known Arabic, Turkish, European, and Latino bands. And maybe that's why it's difficult to pin him down. However, this time, he's in the dock for copying creations of one of Kolkata's most revered bands," says the source.
Here's how the story goes - sometime last year, the makers of Bhram- An Illusion, starring Dino Morea, Milind Soman and supermodel Sheetal Menon in lead roles, had approached Pritam to compose the music for their upcoming film in the hope that he would come up with original compositions for their film. But as the film was ready for release, all hell broke loose a day before the film's music launch as one discovered that his song 'Jaane Kyun' was inspired from a Bengali song. On further investigation, sources concluded that the number in question is actually a direct lift of a Bengali song, 'Ghare Pheraar Gaan', composed by the Kolkata-based 70's music group Mohinder Ghoraguli whose compositions are an eclectic mix of Baul and folk traditions of Bangla and rock.
A well-placed source says, "When we approached Pritam, he was already on a high courtesy his successful track record off late. After some meetings, he agreed to compose the tracks of our film Bhram. But despite his initial consent, he kept claiming how busy he was with other projects and therefore found no time to compose tunes for us. Then finally, he was ready with two songs."
On this controversy; the official spokesperson of Magna films says, "We have paid Pritam for the music and hope his compositions are original. In case they have been inspired from some other music groups, we hope he has sought permission from the concerned parties. If not, we believe he should have taken permission before selling his music to us as his original compositions." But were there monetary issues involved? "Not at all. The producers paid Pritam a hefty price," claims another reliable source.
However, when we got in touch with Pritam, the music director was astounded at the false accusation and quickly gave his side of the story. "A controversy is being created for nothing. Whoever is spreading such malicious things about me is only doing so because Bhram is a small budget film that desperately needs publicity. Therefore, someone has to be the scapegoat. And in this case, it's me. All these accusations are completely false and baseless. All legal rights of the compositions have been legally bought from Mr. Lahiri of Asha Studio, Kolkata, and the tracks have been credited to Gautam Chatterjee, the original composer of the songs in question. You can ask them and they will vouch for the legality involved. I'm being targeted for no fault of mine. Maybe the confusion arose because the initial 30-40 CD's sent out during the press conference did not have the mentioned credits due a glitch from the production side, but the copies that have hit the market all carry the credit of Gautam Chatterjee on the CD cover. So the very question of plagiarism does not arise," says a livid Pritam. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Mar 2008 | 5:04 pm

"I always wanted to play a village belle," says Riya draped in yellow and green sari at Gemini Studios. Dharm director, Bhavna Talwar, and her producer-husband Sheetal Talwar have tied up with Religare, a big corporate house and the financial arm of Ranbaxy. Says Sheetal, "We're starting a film fund which we'll announce. We were being approached by several corporate houses for movie deals. But we weren't sure if that was the right thing to do." The idea is to get intellectual cinematic talent into the loop. And the Talwars have invited the likes of Pankaj Kapoor and Balki (Cheeni Kum) into the company.
Says Bhavna's husband film producer, Sheetal Talwar, "The idea is to have a bank of creative people. I'm certain there are many more Bhavna Talwars out there. We've lost the creative thread because we didn't respect talent. I'm not saying we shouldn't do entertaining cinema. But the reality is, we can make money even through realistic cinema. We've to keep putting out products like Dharm and the audience for it is bound to evolve. But even the motive behind experimental films is suspect. Everyone wants to invest 50 lakhs in a Bheja Fry and make back 15 lakh rupees. With this attitude we can never promote good cinema. Our idea is to just make 20 percent on our investments. In any business that's a fair return. We need to encourage a wealth of talent."
Bhavna Talwar's next directorial venture titled Awasthi is been written by Mohinder Pratap Singh. Asif Ali Shaikh who edited Dharm is making a fairy-tale fantasy. "It reminds me of Salman Rushdie's Haroun & The Sea Of Tales. But it isn't a children's film. Subhash Ghai's directorial venture Black and White is all set to hit screens this Friday (March 7). The story which deals with terrorism and its repercussions will see Ghai venture into a completely different territory.
While most of the audiences is waiting with bated breath to have a glimpse of the film, there were a lucky few who had the privilege of watching the film before its release. We are talking about none other than Reliance Industries head, Mukesh Ambani, and his wife Nita.
Apparently, Ghai who is quite close to the senior Ambani, had a special screening of Black and White at Sea Wind- the Ambani home at Cuffe Parade last night (Monday). Even Kumarangam Birla had a special screening of the film organized by Ghai at the Birla residence yesterday itself.
For those who came in late the Ambanis were even among the first to see Jodhaa Akbar when director Ashutosh Gowarikar had arranged a special preview for them. They simply loved that film.
Well, with top filmmakers arranging exclusive screenings of their films for Mukesh and Nita Ambani, seems like their valuable opinion does mean a lot for our B-town folk. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Mar 2008 | 12:51 pm
