Dharm director, Bhavna Talwar, and her producer-husband Sheetal Talwar have tied up with Religare, a big corporate house and the financial arm of Ranbaxy. Says Sheetal, "We're starting a film fund which we'll announce. We were being approached by several corporate houses for movie deals. But we weren't sure if that was the right thing to do." The idea is to get intellectual cinematic talent into the loop. And the Talwars have invited the likes of Pankaj Kapoor and Balki (Cheeni Kum) into the company.
Says Bhavna's husband film producer, Sheetal Talwar, "The idea is to have a bank of creative people. I'm certain there are many more Bhavna Talwars out there. We've lost the creative thread because we didn't respect talent. I'm not saying we shouldn't do entertaining cinema. But the reality is, we can make money even through realistic cinema. We've to keep putting out products like Dharm and the audience for it is bound to evolve. But even the motive behind experimental films is suspect. Everyone wants to invest 50 lakhs in a Bheja Fry and make back 15 lakh rupees. With this attitude we can never promote good cinema. Our idea is to just make 20 percent on our investments. In any business that's a fair return. We need to encourage a wealth of talent."
Bhavna Talwar's next directorial venture titled Awasthi is been written by Mohinder Pratap Singh. Asif Ali Shaikh who edited Dharm is making a fairy-tale fantasy. "It reminds me of Salman Rushdie's Haroun & The Sea Of Tales. But it isn't a children's film. Shaikh's film goes on the floors in June .We're also producing ad filmmaker Johnny Pinto's film, to begin at year-end which would be an Indo-US co-production. It'd convey a contemporary message on consumerism." Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Mar 2008 | 3:29 pm

Subhash Ghai's directorial venture Black and White is all set to hit screens this Friday (March 7). The story which deals with terrorism and its repercussions will see Ghai venture into a completely different territory.
While most of the audiences is waiting with bated breath to have a glimpse of the film, there were a lucky few who had the privilege of watching the film before its release. We are talking about none other than Reliance Industries head, Mukesh Ambani, and his wife Nita.
Apparently, Ghai who is quite close to the senior Ambani, had a special screening of Black and White at Sea Wind- the Ambani home at Cuffe Parade last night (Monday). Even Kumarangam Birla had a special screening of the film organized by Ghai at the Birla residence yesterday itself.
For those who came in late the Ambanis were even among the first to see Jodhaa Akbar when director Ashutosh Gowarikar had arranged a special preview for them. They simply loved that film.
Well, with top filmmakers arranging exclusive screenings of their films for Mukesh and Nita Ambani, seems like their valuable opinion does mean a lot for our B-town folk. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Mar 2008 | 12:51 pm
Disruption of facts in Jodhaa Akbar has been the talk of the Nation. Jodhaa along with her better half found hard time to please the audiences in her hometown. Well, Amul gives the duo an opportunity to butter the community which is annoyed with the film.
We are sure the makers will be hoping that the protestors melt with the smell of delicious butter this time (whatever works for that matter) and hysteria does not repeat itself. 'Waise bhi, jab kaam mushkil ho, toh thoda butter lagana hi padta hai'. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 4 Mar 2008 | 12:30 pm

In Vivek Sharma's Bhootnath, The Big B plays a ghostâ¦a dost ghost, so to speak. And the child actor he plays the friendly ghost to is Aman Siddiqui. The bonding between the two has to be seen to be believed.
Says the Big B, "Aman is an absolute darling. I've done several ads with him. And of course we earlier did a film together. In Eklavya, he had played junior Saif Ali Khan." This isn't the first time when the Big B has co-starred with a scene-stealing child actor. In fact during the last few years he has made a habit of working with phenomenally talented kidsâ¦. Ayesha Kapoor in Black, Rucha Vaidya in Ek Ajnabee and Sweeni Khare in Cheeni Kum were the three child actors who shared a significant screen space with the Big B.
The difference here is, Big B plays a ghost. Ask him how does one play a ghost and the Big B laughs, "I've never seen one. But I had played one earlier in Honey Irani's Armaan. You go by what the director tell you. Which isn't saying much, because I doubt the director has seen one too. Unless he's drawing inspiration from present company, meaning me," the Big B ends with a chuckle. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Mar 2008 | 10:25 am

While on dubbed versions, another film thatâs ready to strike in Tamil and Telugu versions is the next biggie, RACE. Yes, you read it right! Director duo Abbas-Mustanâs latest thriller is being dubbed in South Indian languages and will be released simultaneously with the Hindi version on 21st March.
âRACE is a stylish action thriller and action films fare very well in South markets. Also, the film has the potential to work big time. Thatâs what prompted us to go ahead with the strategy of dubbing the film in South languages,â producer Ramesh Taurani confirms.
Meanwhile, the makers have come out with a stylish book that gives the reader an insight into the film, besides feasting on some eye-popping pics from this thriller. Generally, the dubbed version of successful films are never released with pomp and gaiety. In fact, barring a few biggies, a majority of Hindi films that were dubbed in South Indian languages have had an unsung release, exactly the way most South classics are released in the Hindi belt, in Hindi language. But JODHAA AKBAR is expected to break the trend.
Ashutosh Gowarikerâs much-in-news historical, which is faring well at the box-office, has been dubbed in Tamil and Telugu versions by the producers themselves. While the dubbed versions are expected to open this week, the entire team of JODHAA AKBAR will be flying to Hyderabad on Thursday to participate in the lavish premiere of the Telugu version, organized at PVR multiplex.
Not just Gowariker or producer Ronnie Screwvala, even the principal stars, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Punam S. Sinha and Ila Arun, as also cinematographer Kiran Deohans and art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai are expected to partake in the pre-release screening.

Rehan Khan, the actor who made his debut with the forgettable Jaana-Letâs Fall In Love, is on the seventh heaven these days and he has every reason to be so, the reason being that two of his films are being readied for release.
When Bollywood Hungama spoke to Rehan about these films, he said, âThey are Sangeeth Sivanâs horror-flick titled, Click, in which I play a character named Tarun, who happens to be Shreyas Talpadeâs best friend and what happens in our lives is what the film is all about. There is also a camera that plays an important role in this film. The film is tentatively supposed to release in May this year.â As for Anjum Rizviâs Fast Forward, itâs a film about âHip-Hopâ dance in which he plays the lead with Akshay Kapoor (of Alag fame) playing his friend. Besides them, there is also Vinod Khanna, Mahesh Manjrekar and two heroines, Bhavna and Sabeena, who make their debut in this film. Zaigham Ali Sayyed directs Fast Forward with Sonia Jafferâs choreography. Rehan plays a character named Rishi.
Fast Forward is basically a rags to riches story about Rishi (Rehan Khan) and is more like a modern day âWestside(musical) Storyâ, whereby itâs battle of the boys , i.e. âBoys of Nallasoparaâ versus the âBoys of Worli Sea Faceâ. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Mar 2008 | 5:27 pm

Aamir Khan's fascination for kids is something that is as old as the hills. The actor turned director made his first film Taare Zameen Par on children- their problems, their feelings, their hopes, and aspirations.
After keeping quite a low profile post release, the actor was seen over the weekend at an event to launch 'Storytellers' (a collection of storybooks for children by author Rohini Nilekani) in Mumbai. In addition to that, he even took the title of the book quite seriously and read out stories from the book to the audience present.
Aamir who was present along with his better half Kiran Rao said that during his childhood days, books had left quite an impression on him and hence he felt that kids should spend more time reading quality books. He also stressed the need for making books available at affordable prices for those who cannot afford them.
Well, one thing is certain that here is one actor who surely stands by what he believes in. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 3 Mar 2008 | 4:44 pm
With an array of films popping its head from everywhere, Bollywood this year is the place to be and a space to watch out for! With the exams settling in and vacations bustling in, the coming few weeks will see a race for the top slot. And leading the race is none other than the Abbas-Mustan's directorial Race, which has simply taken the human mind with suspense, action and thrills by the core.
Even though the film is just a few weeks away, still, it's producers Tips and composer Pritam are leaving no stones unturned to ensure that the film not just stays in news but also takes one of the biggest ever openings at the B-O. To keep the film hot in circulation and in order to add on to the immense hype that this action/thriller has already been generating, the makers have decided to include a new song in Race. The song is special since it features Saif Ali Khan and the 'hot-n-happening' Katrina Kaif who was the only leading lady to have enjoyed a cent percent record last year (Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome). Moreover, the title of the song is nothing less than inviting as it reads - 'Sexy Lady'.
As per the film's producer Ramesh Taurani (of TIPS), the song was added as it was found to be a good replacement for 'Mujhpe To Jaado' which was yet to be shot. "We are thrilled with the great response to the title song 'Race Sanson Ki', 'Pehli Nazar Mein' and 'Zara Zara Touch Me'. We wanted to keep the momentum going. When Pritam made us hear the tune of 'Sexy Lady', we knew that this was the song for the film," confirms Ramesh Taurani.

For now it's goodbye Ajay Devgan, hello Ranbir Kapoor for Raj Kumar Santoshi.
Post the unexpected debacle of Halla Bol producers are no longer eager for more from the Devgan-Santoshi pair.
Apparently PVR the producers who were supposed to support Santoshi's multi-crore historical on the life of Emperor Ashok have backed out of the project. Santoshi who has been long toying with the idea of making a love story has now signed Bollywood's new sensation Ranbir for a film. And he has decided to cast Katrina Kaif in the female lead. He starts the project immediately. Confirming this new development in his career Raj Kumar Santoshi says, "Yes I'm making this film, Ranbir is confirmed. Katrina is nearly confirmed. I wanted to work with Ranbir the minute I saw him in Saawariya. I see that special spark in him. In fact after I saw him in Saawariya I sent him a bouquet, I was so impressed by him."
The film is to be produced by Tips with whom Santoshi had a long-standing tiff regarding outstanding payments for The Legend Of Bhagat Singh. Santoshi denies any differences with Tips. "We had a very fruitful working relationship during Theâ¦Bhagat Singh. If we didn't why would we be working together again?" Santoshi is specially excited about this project because it's a love story that he's writing himself. "For very long now I wanted to make a pure love story. I've written this script some time back. I was waiting for the right face. I think Ranbir was destined to be the hero in my love story."

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor and actress Sridevi are to be honored with the âFICCI Living Legend in Entertainmentâ award during the annual convention FICCI Frames 2008, thatâs to be held from March 25 to March 27 in Mumbai.
Rishi Kapoor (son of the great Raj Kapoor and grandson of the legendary Prithiviraj Kapoor) made his acting debut as a child artist in Mera Naam Joker. His first film as a lead actor was the smash-hit Bobby in 1973 opposite Dimple Kapadia. Some of his other popular works include Karz, Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Saagar, Kabhi Kabhi, Deewana, Damini and Bol Radha Bol. In the recent past he was seen in supporting roles in films like Fanaa, Hum Tum and Namastey London. Last year (2007) was a special year for him as his son Ranbir Kapoor made his debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. In fact Rishi was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the recently held 53rd Annual Filmfare Awards in Mumbai.
Sridevi on the other hand has been acting from a very small age in films of various languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi. Some of her most prominent roles are in films like Chandni, Lamhe, Sadma, Chaalbaaz and Mr. India. She is married to noted film producer Boney Kapoor.

"If you thought that the music of Gangster and Awarapan were great, look out for Jannat. It is out of this world and simply phenomenal,â declares Emraan Hashmi who would be seeing a film of his arriving at theaters after almost a year. Though 2006 saw Good Boy Bad Boy, The Train and Awarapan releasing one after another, it has been a sort of wait for Emraan Hashmi in 2008, as Jannat would be arriving only in the month of May.
"We want the music as well as the film to be promoted to an optimum degree,â says Emraan who is actively involved in the functioning and progress of Bhatt brothers' Vishesh Films. "Awarapan experience has taught that much more time should be given to the promotion of music. It is nice to see that songs like 'Maahiya', 'Tera Mera Rishta' and 'To Phir Aayo' are so popular today. I guess they were still growing up with people when the film got released."
So, what does the action plan seem for Jannat. "We would go all out to make sure that the music of Jannat is heard by everyone. Liking or not liking it is audience's prerogative though let me tell you that I am 200% sure about the music becoming a big success. We want the music to hit the peak and then run for at least a fortnight before the film arrives. I have great confidence in the tunes that Pritam has created,â reflects Emraan Hashmi.
"So many times we see a soundtrack being considered as good but within the realms of Bollywood scheme of things even as it reaches a blockbuster status. It is only after a few years that it becomes a catalogue album, which registers sales consistently for over the years and is termed as a classic. It has happened in the past and you would see that happening again. And Jannat would be one such soundtrack which would go down as a classic", declares Emraan who is one of those select few actors who has at least a couple of chartbuster tracks in most of his films.
What does the soundtrack comprise of?
"There are around 6 songs in the movie with number of added remixes. Which one is my favorite? Difficult to choose as of now! I guess let audiences decide it for themselves. It isn't an easy task to create a score for a film like this which tells the story of a man who is a street side gambler and turns into a bookie operating at an international platform. I guess the music and lyrics pretty much compliment the protagonist's exciting journey in his quest of Jannat, as he gets sucked deeper and deeper into the world of cricket and the nexus associated with it," informs Emraan.
When contacted, Pritam said modestly, "I am happy that people at Vishesh Films are so confident with the way music of Jannat has turned out to be." He concludes with a smile, "Yes, the songs are good here but let me not sound overtly excited in a similar way. I would wait for the audience to give their final verdict." Minuses

1
Race
As the film gears up for it's 21st March release, it is quite obvious that 'Race' would continue to reign
from the top. If three chartbuster tracks in a row â 'Race Sanson Ki', 'Pehli Nazar Mein' and 'Zara Zara' - were not enough, 'Sexy Lady' is a new number which is being
added to the soundtrack. Expect the new edition of the album to arrive soon!
None. The music not just compliments the film's genre but also throws a surprise or
two.
2
4
Jodhaa Akbar
Slow but steady, 'Jodhaa Akbar' moves up the charts as the film completes a two week run at the box
office. With the film sustaining itself at theaters, the music has benefited too, as apparent from a two spot jump into the charts. In Top-3 now, it would be interesting to
see if this Rahman soundtrack would have enough ammunition to challenge 'Race' for a position at the top spot.
The album relies heavily on 'Azeem O Shaan Shahenshah' and 'Jashn E Bahaara'
3
3
Jab We Met
'Jab We Met' may not be winning awards for Pritam but it is certainly getting him all the rewards as
the music continues to record consistent sales. It is one of the rare scenarios for a film which is simultaneously doing well at theaters, DVD circuits and satellite
broadcast alike. The music too is only following suit!
None

2
Taare Zameen Par
This soundtrack would be remembered not just for years but decades to come. Established firmly as
a classic, 'Taare Zameen Par' would be classified as a highlight of the career of Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy and Prasoon Joshi.
None

5
U Me Aur Hum
The way 'U Me Aur Hum' had arrived into the charts, it has seemed that in week two it would storm
further up. However, challenge from the top has been tough and the result is that this Vishal Bhardwaj score has remained stable within Top-5. While 'Jee Le' and 'Dil
Dhakda' have already been popular, 'Saiyaan' should only be following suit!
Ajay Devgan and Kajol in a hardcore romantic entertainer is not everyone's idea which could have
it's effect on perception created for the film's music
6
6
Om Shanti Om
There isn't any change for the positioning of 'Om Shanti Om' in the charts. Yet again, awards are
eluding this 'masala' soundtrack by Vishal and Shekhar but that may not really be a matter of concern for T-Series, Shah Rukh Khan or Farah Khan since in terms of
popularity, it was right at the top in 2007. With 2008 too embracing the music of 'Om Shanti Om', the celebrations continue.
None

8
Welcome
Showing a jump in the charts by a solitary spot, 'Welcome' continues to hang on. On an absolute
scale, sales at lower down the charts aren't phenomenal but due to lack of any competition, 'Welcome' still finds a place in the charts..
'Jo bikta hai who achcha hai' â what else can one comment around 'Welcome', the music of which
has been a surprise success
8
New
Black & White
After 'Apna Sapna Money Money', finally there is music from a film by Subhash Ghai enters the
charts, Otherwise 'Good Boy Bad Boy', 'Khanna & Iyer' and 'Bombay To Bangkok' have all proved to be disastrous musically. In comparison Sukhwinder Singh has
managed to churn a tune or two which do work well with the film's context.
Overall the music is quite disappointing with only 'Peer Manavan' and 'Main Chala' working to an
extent. Subhash Ghai films have boasted of much better music in the past!
9
7
Sunday
Seeing a drop by a couple of spots, the music of 'Sunday' is on it's way out. The album has seen
some of the most massive swings in the charts since it's arrival. Whether it was it's move or down, 'Sunday' has typically been erratic in it's sales.
Even though 'Sunday' boasts of good music, surprisingly the music company is not continuing to
publicize it at all. The promotion has come to an abrupt end ever since the film completed it's box office run.
10
9
Goal
Entry of 'Black & White' into the charts means that 'Goal' has moved down by a spot. Still, it seems
safe in it's position at the bottom of the barrel till 'One Two Three' or soon to be released 'Jannat' push it out completely.
Wish the theme song of the album would have created a name for itself too amongst the
audience!
