Itâs a well known fact that while Malaika is sizzling, Amrita Arora is sensational. And when the two siblings come together on screen, itâs going to exude oomph and sexiness to the maximum. The Arora sisters will be seen doing an item number together for the first time for Sanjay Gadhviâs Kidnap, produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision.
Malaika and Amrita Arora will be dancing along with Sanjay Dutt in a song choreographed by Remo. And with Pritamâs composition and Sunidhi Chauhanâs voice, the song is expected to top the charts. The song would be shot in Filmistan from March 9 to March 13. The Arora siblings are looking forward to match their steps to the stage-song where they will be pitted against one other. They will be paid a stunning amount of 50 lakhs for the four-minute song.

Ruslaan Mumtaaz certainly has a long way to go. Just one film old, MP3, he is already bagged an international project with Christopher Miles of The Priest of Love on DH Lawrence fame. Ruslaan will be soon seen Christopherâs next biopic venture, The Last Pharaoh, based on the last Egyptian Pharaoh, (King Farouk). Supposedly, Keira Knightley might play his love interest in the film.
Christopher was initially on a look out for an Egyptian guy for the role, but to his disappointment did not come across even one with the combination of both looks and talent. While shooting for a war sequence in the desert of Rajasthan he came across Amitabha Singh the Cinematographer of Ruslaanâs first film. Amitabha will also be the DOP for Christopherâs film. After seeing MP3, Miles saw Ruslaan and signed him after couple of auditions. To which Ruslaan claims, âI do resemble the King Farouk a lot but itâs a huge responsibility on me as an actor.â
He goes on to add, âI am excited but at the same time pretty apprehensive about the delivering my dialogues in the Brit accent. Christopher has flooded me with tapes and pictures so that I can work on my accent. However, the kind of confidence Christopher has shown on me, I feel things will eventually fall in place.â
The story revolves around the last King of Egypt during World War II. âThe film will highlight the lifestyle of King Farouk. And about his courage and wisdom at the age of 23 on the war front.â The Last Pharaoh is likely to go on floors in September after monsoons and to be released by next year.
Ruslaan recently has also signed a film with writer turned director, Milap Zaveri titled Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai and has Satish Kaushikâs Tere Sang slated to release this year. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Mar 2008 | 12:34 pm

Hema Malini: "It's a populist budget with one eye on the upcoming elections. The Finance Minister has given much relief to the middleclass on the individual-tax front. And the waiving of loans for small farmers is a good move. But the burden of 50,000 rupees per farmer is huge. I hope we don't feel the weight in the next budget. Overall, its a mixed budget.â
Manoj Bajpai: "I'm happy as a farmer's son and disappointed as a member of the film fraternity coz the entertainment slab is being ignored by everybody!â
Vikram Bhatt: "I'm still reading the salient features of the budget. But it seems progressive and aimed at encouraging the private sector. Also, the reduction in the tax percentage is good news.
Mahesh Bhatt: "Happy to see the farmers get a huge relief. A warm hug to the Finance Minister for bringing the farmers centre stage and giving them what they long-deserved."
Vipul Shah: "Very populist budget. It looks like elections will happen by year-end. No relief for cinema. So I'm disappointed. But good news for agriculture.â
Anant Mahadevan: "The waiver of loans for farmers may set a dangerous precedent. Will farmers expect this each time there are elections and load themselves with debts? Also the reduction in the prices of small cars could flood the roads with them. More chaos! This is a please-all-for-sometime budget. I wish cigarettes and gutka were taxed further.â
Vashu Bhagnani: "The budget is good for farmers who are the pillars of the nation. They should've taken the film industry more seriously. We entertain the whole nation. We need a tax holiday for 5 years.
Sudhir Mishra: "Really insulting that the film industry doesn't even deserve attention. Just goes to show how much influence our great film industry representatives have in the political arena. However, this is offset by the waiver of loans for small farmers. I think that's an outstanding step."
Pavan Malhotra: "There's nothing new about the budget, and the tax reductions are nothing to rejoice about. No surprise that the price of cigarettes have gone up or those farmers have been offered relief. That's the predictable course to take. We've had such populist budgets before, even during Mrs. Indira Gandhi's regime. The minute you say, you are reducing the price of a two-wheeler but increasing the price of cement, you've making a fundamental mistake in envisioning the future. I'd say this is a budget of short-term benefits."
Bhavna Talwar: "The budget is populist, election-oriented, yet visionary. I think we should ensure that the loan waiver percolates down to the desired constituents, the marginal farmer. The middleclass should seem hopeful in the fact that they get an extra 50,000 rupees per annum at least, on the table." Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 1 Mar 2008 | 11:00 am
Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited office in suburban Juhu became the target of attacks by some identified people on Friday night (Feb 29). Incidentally, even earlier, (February 4, 2008) there were attacks on his house, due to which, his house was under high security surveillance.
Amitabh Bachchan had confirmed seeing a group of four attackers who threw stones and bottles at the office and sped off into thin air. The only identification of the attackers was the grey Santro they came in. As per the reports of PTI, the Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinay Choubey informed that they had received a call saying that bottles were being thrown at the âJanakâ bungalow and hence he immediately sent police officers to confirm the details to the spot.
Fortunately, family members never occupy the âJanakâ bungalow; it mainly comprises of the gymnasium, and some offices. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 1 Mar 2008 | 10:48 am

One of 2008's most anticipated films is Subhash Ghai's Yuvraaj starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The film which is a musical has added 2 more members to its already impressive star-cast.
The buzz is that Mithun Chakraborty apparently has been signed on to play a special appearance in the film. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to Mr. Subhash Ghai, he confirmed this, "Yes Mithun is doing a special appearance in Yuvraaj. However it is a very important role in the context of the film. We have shot with him already for around 5 - 6 days."
Besides this Aushima Sawhney who was last seen opposite Kunal Khemu in Superstar has also been signed. Ghai adds, "Aushima is playing one of the female leads in Yuvraaj"
With some people referring to the film as Main Yuvraaj while others calling it Yuvraaj we decided to get the facts straight from the man himself. "I keep telling everyone it is Yuvraaj. The title is positively Yuvraaj and not Main Yuvraaj"
Lastly we can't wait to check out this star-studded extravaganza and hence ask the showman, how much of the shooting is actually left? "50 % of the shooting is left, and we are releasing the film on October 24, 2008, the same day when Mukta Arts celebrates it 30th anniversary," signs off Ghai.
In the meanwhile, all you Ghai fans can surely check out his next release Black and White starring Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, and debutant Anurag Sinha that opens across cinemas next week (March 7). Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 29 Feb 2008 | 4:04 pm
I do not know really whether I am pushing it too far here or not, but even though I think the potential as an actress you showed in Parineeta and a few ads prior to that is unmistakable, I've had mixed feelings about the way your career is shaping up. What this makes me think, and I might be wrong, is that perhaps it was your natural coyness and hesitant self conscious manner that allowed you to fit into something like Parineeta with ease, as that fluttery self-conscious approach was perfectly reminiscent of the era, the film was set in. In Lage Raho Munnabhai, it was the same breezy, easygoing grace that worked perfectly in conjunction with the film, even though it did not make for particularly good chemistry with Sanjay Dutt. But everything you've done since has been perfectly bland. (I might add that I do not really know how to judge your Bhool Bhulaiyaa act because the only emotion I felt for you was sympathy in the climax dance, which was badly done to be honest. But if the intention was to scare then you were far from successful in doing that.
I believe, and again I might be wrong, the kind of natural expressivity and compelling presence that we first saw in Parineeta is something no one in Bollywood can match. But maybe just maybe, the hangover of Pradeep Sarkar's briefing is so compelling that you have not been able to emerge out of the mould. While the coyness, and hesitant manner,
conventional to the core worked for that character it became repetitive in all the others so far.. Surprising reallyâ¦And amazingly this sort of narcissism acts as a major barrier preventing you to be able to act as a proper foil for different actors-case in point Shiney Ahuja and Sanjay Dutt.
I don't want to sound a glory hunter but as a true fan of yours I'd say you need to look no further than Konkona Sen and Ayesha Takia for inspiration. Not only is the former an excellent actress with a heady mix of nuanced exuberance and onscreen demeanor, she is far from being a narcissistic performer. Making her an excellent foil, for actors as diverse as Ranvir Shorey (Mixed Doubles), Saif Ali Khan (Omkara), Rahul Bose (Mr. & Mrs. Iyer), Irrfan Khan (Life in a Metro), and Kunal Kapoor (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag). Ayesha- just like you will never be a glamour queen, but her effervescence is seemingly
irrepressible, which allows her to play the urbane-girl next-door with perfect ease and better than just about anyone in the industry.
I know versatility is a self-concocted myth, but its also a know fact that an observant eye(and not just an empathetic person) is the most important tool for an actor. The repetitive nature of your performances makes me feel that you do not observe. Have you ever noticed how actors like Boman Irani and Vinay Pathak introduce the smallest of nuances in order to give the character they play the appropriate feel? Why is it that a face, which seemingly can suggest myriad emotional undercurrents, is now recycling the same expressions film after film? Why is that you on screen always seem so curiously passive and starch stiff half the time? Why is it that you are now seemingly content to settle for Box Office Smashes at the cost of role and artistic satisfaction?
I might be reading too much into this but am I wrong in believing that you have somehow been dumb enough to believe your own hype? The grand you so much get mixed feelings about you. Am I wrong in believing Vidya that your Friday is over? Were you all hype? Just hype?
I certainly hope and pray that the answer is not in the affirmative. Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 29 Feb 2008 | 3:40 pm
The rumour that Ranbir Kapoor will be joining the cast of Mani Ratnam's new Hindi venture has everyone associated with the film in a puzzle. "We've no idea where that started, or what it means. Ranbir doesn't feature in the cast of Mani's film at all" says a source close to the project.

Could it be the old Mani favourite Madhavan who has done five films with the Tamil maverick? Maddy shoots down this rumour. "No. I'm certainly not a part of Mani Sir's new film. He hasn't asked me and I wouldn't be able to even if he did, because I've no dates from September when he shoots his Hindi film." A sense of disappointment that Mani has switched favourites? Post the release of Jodhaa Akbar on Friday, Feb 15, there hasn't been any popular release in Bollywood and the situation is likely to be the same till March 7th, when Subhash Ghai's Black and White hits the theatres.
In the interim, a lot of new Hollywood releases, some C-grade Hindi films and even some dubbed films are being released trying to cash in on the open weeks. However, what took us by surprise was when we saw this poster of the Rajinikanth starrer Chandramukhi which is lined for release this week. Apparently, this super-duper hit Tamil movie which released a couple of years back is now dubbed in Hindi and releases across cinemas today (Feb 29th).
Chandramukhi directed by P.Vasu stars Superstar Rajinikanth playing an eccentric psychiatrist along with south sensation Jyothika and Sonu Sood (who was last seen as Ash's brother in Jodhaa Akbar). The movie which has won 5 National awards is a spooky supernatural thriller. For the benefit of all those who came in late, last year's smash hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja had a story very similar to Chandramukhi. Interestingly, Chandramukhi itself borrows its premise from the Malayalam film Manachitratazhu starring Shobhana.

After exploring varied genres like romance, thrillers, and comedy Anant Mahadevan now goes one notch higher with a film based on the Naxalite movement. The film titled Red Alert will be written and produced by Aruna Raje and Rahul Agarwal, respectively. Sunil Shetty plays the main protagonist along with veteran actor like Naseeruddin Shah, Sameera Reddy, Ayesha Dharkar, Aashish Vidyarthi, and Bhagyashree.
Throwing light on the concept and story of the film, Mahadevan says, "Red Alert is a 110 minutes long, song less film. It's inspired from the true story of a man who inadvertently gets trapped in the movement at Gadchiroli, a place in Gujarat. Although my film will mainly revolve around the Naxals, it will also highlight the sufferers of other movements and social groups like the Russian Revolution and Jihad in Pakistan."
Talking at length about why he chose Bhagyashree for one of the roles, he informs, "Bhagyashree plays Sunil Shetty's wife in the film. I wanted a face that was distinct from the very rough and crude look of a Naxalite to play Sunil's wife and Bhagyashree completely fits the bill. Their desire to satisfy the needs of their children ultimately turns their life upside down."
On asking why he zeroed down on Sameera and not his favourite Udita, he says, "I was not looking out for a glamorous character. Sameera has worked with directors like Buddhadev Das Gupta and has been a part of offbeat Bengali films, which have gone to international festivals. Sameera has evolved tremendously as an actor and her looks were apt for the character of a Naxalite in the film." Without divulging too many details on the character of Naseerudin Shah, he informs, "Naseer plays a very interesting character in the film. It's something which I really don't want to give out because I feel that would spoil the surprise of the film."
Mahadevan informs that a thorough research has been done on the subject by him. "Lot of in-depth research about Naxalites has been carried right from their remuneration, costumes and lifestyle to communication", he states.
Rahul Agarwal, the producer of the film delighted to be part of such a sensitive project says, "I feel content for the fact that this issue is very contemporary in its nature and will definitely drive people towards cinema halls." And as far as the budget is concerned he informs, "The production house has not yet worked on that. So, it will take us some while to decide upon that." Red Alert will go on the floors on June 5. Mahadevan is mainly targeting the film at the international festivals and will release the film in India later this year. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 29 Feb 2008 | 1:17 pm

THE FILM
There are some films that are not taken seriously prior to their release for some rhyme or reason. Negative vibes generate even
without a single frame of the film being up and running on the big screen while the reviews are written much before even the first
show on the day of release has commenced. A certain bias comes into picture which is completely unwarranted and the result is
that when the film actually manages to do well at the box office, it becomes difficult for many to acknowledge it's success.
Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal is one such film.
Ok, so it wasn't a phenomenal success but if one looks at the kind of budget spent on it and the money it ended up earning, this
John Abraham-Arshad Warsi starrer was quite a safe preposition at the box office. However, since the film had football as it's
background, many people from within and outside the industry chose to bring on comparisons with Chak De India. Quite
unfair, since except for sports being a common factor, there wasn't anything else, which tied the two films together.
Nevertheless, the film took a good start at the box office when released late last year and maintained a decent run for at least a
fortnight, which helped it earn a 'success' tag. Director Vivek Agnihotri had made a slick though unsuccessful Chocolate
earlier on and he managed to move on as a storyteller with Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. Meanwhile Arshad Warsi was more of a
parallel lead with John (who was of course the star of the show) rather than playing a second fiddle as many thought before the
release of the film. Boman stole the thunder with his solitary 'thundering' scene in the dressing room while Bipasha Basu looked
and acted cute, rather than sexy, for a change!
Only regret from the film? It's theme song - 'Dhan Dhan Dhan Goal' by Daler Mehendi - couldn't become the next 'Chak De
India' (Sukhwinder Singh). Seems 'Billo Rani' was too hot a competition!
PACKAGING
The film comes in an impressive thick paper case with an attractive-n-eye catching layout. For John Abraham fans, there is a
packaged gift in the form of a red T-Shirt with the star's autograph.
DURATION
The film comes in a twin DVD pack with the film's duration being 158 minutes. The second DVD has special features lasting
another 82 minutes.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Making of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal
- Deleted scenes
- Exclusive footage on football tricks
- Bloopers
- Music Video - Ishq Ka Kalma
- A day with John Abraham
Dhan Dhan Dhan Goal was shot for 70 days at a stretch in London. The making of the film lasting close to 25 minutes is one
of the best directed and edited videos because it carries a slick look throughout and doesn't carry a linear narrative of star
interviews followed by behind the scenes footage and concluded by recommendation from the makers, as is the trend. Instead,
various moments from the film coupled with actual scenes are neatly combined which give a different perspective altogether
about the challenges and achievements during the making of the film.
The video includes moments where John is working out in the gym to prepare for his shoot. Moreover, the director explains how
the unit had shot for two days in Manchester United, which is termed as a theater of dreams! The video also introduces football
guru Andy Ansah who was especially roped in to help choreograph the football sequences. Of course, there are mandatory
quotes by cast and crew of the film but they are least boring and keep you involved as they refrain from the usual 'you scratch my
back - i scratch yours' talks!
There are 13 minutes of deleted scenes and bloopers as well and the most interesting is the one, which features Arshad Warsi with
his on-screen wife. A lengthy scene, which shows Arshad cajoling his pregnant wife before announcing a few days off for his
football matches, it is quite cute. There is another scene featuring Arshad where Bipasha catches him taking steroids. However,
the one, which would certainly get the house down, is the segment where both Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani are caught with their
pants down. Play on the DVD to find more!
Then comes a musical 3 minutes sequence on the various football tricks by UK kids. A good watch for football lovers. And for
those who want to have their daily dose of John and Bipasha, there is an inclusion of promotional music video of 'Ishq Ka
Kalma' too!
Everyone is aware about how John Abraham had single handedly worked 24X7 to make promote his film. One of such visits that
had happened quite close to the release of the film was in London. A special 25 minutes segment on a day in the life of John in
London while promoting the film is captured as well. It is interesting to see how he juggled from one radio station to another to
create awareness around the film. The most interesting part though is the setting in a local joint where quite a few questions
pertaining to football and it's history are put in front of John. Check out the DVD to know if he answered them well or not?
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen format
- Subtitles In English, Arabic, Tamil and Telugu
- Dolby Digital 5.1
PRICE
Rs. 699
CONCLUSION
Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal was not a masterpiece by any means but was a decent entertainer nevertheless. The film is worth
catching once at least. Moreover, the sports followers would like many of the football sequences, especially in the second half.
Catch them on a wide screen home entertainment system at your place!

Race, one of the hottest films this season, is around three weeks away from its release. Still, it's producers TIPS and composer Pritam are leaving no stones unturned to ensure that the film not just stays in news but also take one of the biggest ever openings at the Box Office.
To keep the film hot in circulation and add on to the immense hype that this action/thriller has been generating, the makers have decided to add on a new song in Race. The song is special since it features Saif Ali Khan and now hot-n-happening Katrina Kaif who was the only leading lady to have enjoyed a cent percent record last year (Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome). Moreover, the title of the song is nothing less than inviting as it reads - 'Sexy Lady'.
As per the film's producer Ramesh Taurani (of TIPS), the song was added as it was found to be a good replacement for 'Mujhpe To Jaado' which was yet to be shot. "We are thrilled with the great response to the title song 'Race Sanson Ki', 'Pehli Nazar Mein' and 'Zara Zara Touch Me'. We wanted to keep the momentum going. When Pritam made us hear the tune of 'Sexy Lady', we knew that this was the song for the film," confirms Ramesh Taurani.
Adds Pritam, "'Mujhpe To Jadoo' was anyways waiting to be picturized. Since Abbas-Mustan also felt that 'Sexy Lady' could be a good replacement, everyone was in consensus with the decision.
Says a confident Taurani, "We are quite happy with the way Race is leading up to it's March 21 release. The songs are doing quite well and are leading the charts all over. We would begin unleashing the talkie promos early March. They would be a mix of action and drama which forms the USP of the film."
Meanwhile shooting of 'Sexy Lady' is currently on and would be wrapped up in quick time so that the song is on air before the release of the film. Moreover, there won't be much wait for the new edition of the music album of Race to arrive too. By first week of March, latest addition 'Sexy Lady' is expected to be a part of the newer lots of Race that would be out on stands. Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 29 Feb 2008 | 10:42 am
