Kareena plays Tusshar's sister in Golmaal Returns

Tusshar is extra-kicked about reprising his role as the mute and deaf in Golmaal Returns. This time it's his old pal Kareena with whom Tusshar gets to share screen space. "And we're playing siblings. That's right. Kareena plays my sister in Golmaal Returns! Isn't that cool?" Well, not quite cool because audiences will now expect Kareena to be Tusshar's onscreen Ekta. Tusshar laughs off the insinuations. "Nothing of the sort. Have you forgotten that Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya played siblings in Josh? They were soon after accepted as an intense couple in Mohabbatein. And what about Nana Patekar and Manisha Koirala? They played father-daughter and husband-wife in two films that were released during the same year (Khamoshi and Agni Sakshi). Earlier Sanjeevji and Jayaji were a married couple in Gulzar Saab's Koshish and father-daughter in Parichay during same year. Considering these films came decades ago, surely today's generation would have no problem knowing Bebo and I are only acting as brother and sister. I'd love to do an intense love story with her immediately after this." Tusshar incidentally, feels very comforted by 'sister' Kareena's presence in Golmaal Returns. "Earlier when we did Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai together, she was moody and into her own shell most of the time. Today she has mellowed down so much. And she's looking stunning these days," Tusshar ends appreciatively.

Jodhaa Akbar continues to face opposition in India

After being boycotted from, Rajasthan, Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar faced a huge trouble in other parts of the country as well which includes Delhi, Gujarat and Bihar, where screening of the film was interrupted by the Rajput community. Protesting outside PVR cinemas which led to momentarily stopping of the screening of the film, the community was also seen by pulling out the posters of the film. A small Rajput community named Pratap Sena damaged a theatre in Naroda area in Ahmedabad and thus, invited police to have a control of the situation. President of Multiplex Owners' Association, Manubhai Patel, informed that the protest of around 25 people warning against the screening of the film compelled them to stop the screening temporarily. Also, stressing on the point that film being just a fictional story would hopefully resume by Monday that is today. On the contrary, the leader of VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad), Parvin Togadia, was seen supporting the point of distortions of facts made by Rajput community. Apart from this community, the student's Union group in Patna called out their protest against the film in Patna.

DVD Review: Halla Bol

THE FILM There was a time when Rajkumar Santoshi films were supposed to be special. But somehow the audience's perception for his films changed over the period of time even though he came up with an excellent Khakee in the interim. Perhaps the aftermath of Family - Ties Of Blood was so extreme that audiences forgot all the good work the filmmaker had done in the past. Santoshi too went on to make announcements by dozens without anything actually going on floors due to which Halla Bol wasn't taken seriously either. Halla Bol does boast of number of powerful scenes though which were simply designed for single screen audience, especially at B and C centers. There are quite a few notable clap worthy scenes that had the potential to send audiences in frenzy, especially the ones featuring Pankaj Kapoor. The actor is quite good in a brilliant characterization that makes one stick to the screen every time he appears. However, if one talks about pure commercial viability of the film, there is no shred of doubt that Sunny Deol in place of Pankaj Kapoor would have certainly made Halla Bol a rip roaring success. Watch out for the scenes where Pankaj Kapoor roars in front of media or ridicules Ajay Devgan for his lack of conscience or takes on multiple baddies with a sword in hand - just tailor-made for Deol. But the cake is taken by the sequence at pool side where instead of being scared by a scheming bureaucrat, he treats him like a baby, cajoles him and leaves feeling highly amused. The best of the lot! Ajay Devgan is good, especially in the part where he is required to demonstrate histrionics. As a common man trying to get his stardom working to his favor in his endeavor to revolutionize the system, he is controlled. Still, one feels that his character could have boasted of more consistent punch. However, he is quite awkward as a struggler in the flash back sequences and reminds one of many of his gawky performances from his earlier years in the industry. PACKAGING The film comes in a standard local plastic case with an ordinary cover layout. Since the DVD comes on Moser Baer, don't expect any fancy packaging. DURATION The film comes in a single DVD pack with the film's duration being 140 minutes. SPECIAL FEATURES The DVD doesn't come with any special features. TECHNICAL DETAILS - 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen format - Subtitles In English - Dolby Digital 5.1 and Stereo CONCLUSION Lack of seriousness around the actual content of the film was precisely the reason why Halla Bol was given a cold shoulder when released at theaters early this year. Somehow no one was willing to believe that Santoshi may have come up with his trademark stamp at numerous junctures in the narrative. The film lost out as it didn't even get a chance to prove its worth. Result is that it is one of the quickest DVDs of an A class project to hit the stands within a month's time. However, this has only worked for cine buffs as they can give the film a deserving dekko at a throwaway price. Rating: ***

"Yes, I'm doing Raju Hirani's Idiots" - Aamir Khan

"Yes I am doing Raju Hirani's film being produced by Vinod Chopra tentatively titled Idiots," writes Aamir Khan in the latest entry on his blog aamirkhan.com thus confirming the speculation about the fate of Hirani's film. Aamir had acknowledged before the release of Taare Zameen Par that he is considering Hirani and Vinod Chopra's offer provided he likes the final script. His latest post confirms reclusive superstar's plans post Ghajini Remake this year. Aamir begins his latest post by spilling the shooting plans, "Ghajini resumes, shooting today on the roads of Bombay." Reportedly, this action thriller has earned the unique distinction of being sold for a whopping Rs 90 crore. Confirming the same, Sandeep Bhargava, Head of The Indian Film Company said, "Ghajini has been the highest grossing Tamil hit. I believe that the remake of Ghajini will be one of the biggest films of this year. It stars Aamir Khan, so it's a special film. We have acquired it at a value that includes marketing and print expenses. We are working out a distribution strategy for the movie." Talking about the famed resolutions to his fans, Aamir further writes, "I have managed to stick to no smoking, my workouts have begun again, diet is also getting back slowly though sometimes I break it, and sleeping is still not totally in place though that has seen an improvement too." Khan has been following a strict exercise regimen of three and a half hours and above for six days a week as he wants to get into super shape for the latter half of Ghajini as he shall be bare bodied for most parts. In fact he told his physical trainer Satyajit that he would make such a fantastic body that people will flock the theatres just to see his fine toned physique. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama last week Satyajit said, "Whenever you'll see him in the film, you'll say, wow that's Aamir Khan. For last one year he is working really hard He weighed 84 kgs but now he has lost around 16 kgs. I can't say much but he is looking superb." The perfectionist Khan has built a gym combining two garages within his society and it has cost him an eye-popping Rs 55 lakhs. He did pose for a magazine last month while exercising but he was wearing a full sleeves shirt for he doesn't wish to give away his toned look yet. Hmmmm….talk about being secretive! It seems he has left the grand success of TZP behind and is looking forward to the road ahead. Yet there's some work left on his directorial debut. "As for DVD release of TZP… work on that is progressing but a little slow. Be assured that I am working very hard to come out with the best quality and some really special extras," Aamir writes. Well, knowing the man who stands true to most of what he says TZP DVD will be something to look forward to. As of now, how about try-n-get-the-info on where Aamir is shooting for Ghajini and letting us know pronto!

"Everyday with Abhishek is Valentine's Day" - Aishwarya Rai

Download image as wallpaper Valentine's Day didn't turn out the way Bollywood's most romantic couple had planned. Aishwarya Rai had hoped to have her husband Abhishek by her side for the lavish premiere of Jodhaa Akbar. He arrived at the tail-end of the event on Thursday night. Eyebrows were raised and the hush-hush whispers started when the Queen of the evening showed up with her in-laws Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. But no Abhishek. Relax! It was only a delayed flight. Abhishek arrived in Mumbai almost at midnight. All Valentinian plans laid to rest. Aishwarya is as usual uncomplaining. "What a wonderful Valentine's gift. Everyone who has seen Jodhaa Akbar so far feels it's the perfect love story. And it doesn't really matter if Abhishek couldn't make it. For us everyday is Valentine's Day. Every time we're together it's Valentine's Day." She admits find time to spend together is a problem. "His schedules are grueling and so are mine. We're trying to spend as much time together as possible. Whenever I've time off I join him wherever he's shooting. I've been in Jaipur where he's been shooting in the last few months. We make time. We find time for one another. We need to be happy with whatever is available. Just how happy or unhappy we make the situation is entirely in our hands." For the Delhi premiere of Jodhaa Akbar on Friday, Abhishek was right there by his wife's side, before flying back to Jaipur to join Rakeysh Mehra's Dilli 6 unit. In Delhi, Abhishek, Aishwarya and Hrithik were an inseparable threesome, laughing joking and enjoying the success of the venture, and never mind if Abhishek was only a vicarious participant in this lavish venture.

Arshad turns gambler for Amitabh Bachchan

Arshad Warsi has turned into an incorrigible gambler. And it's all because of Big B. "I 'm doing a film with him called Teen Patti with my career's first female director, Leena Yadav. And there I learnt to play cards because I play a gambler. But it was neither a female director nor the cards that lured me into Teen Patti. Of course, I love the idea of working with Leena . She's so talented and so sure of herself.” But Leena's lure will have to wait. "The main reason I grabbed Teen Patti is Mr Bachchan. I so badly wanted to work with him. Believe it or not, the only film I've done so far with him is the unreleased Zamaanat which was the second film I had signed in my career. Since then, Mr Bachchan has evolved so much. Man, what a rock star! To share screen space with him would be just the challenge I would welcome at this point in my career." And that challenge is around the corner. Also, the challenge of working with a female director. Chuckles Arshad, "Forget working with a female director, I hardly get to do films with females. I think the first fully romantic film I'll do would be a remake of Brokeback Mountain. At least I'm not being taken for granted any more. Producers now listen to me. I'm dying to direct a film."

Aftab moves from Factory to Acid Factory

He started his career 9 years ago with Ram Gopal Varma's Mast. Today, Aftab Shivdasani has gone from Ram Gopal Varma's Factory to Sanjay Gupta and director Suparn Varma's Acid Factory. "Yes that's what my film that I've signed with Sanjay Gupta's is called. It's a really terrific role, the kind I've never done before. And I'm being a given a totally different look for it," said Shivdasani, even as he wrapped up his work in the comedy E Niwas' De Taali and got ready to move on to Robby Grewal's romantic comedy Aloo Chaat from Feb 25. "Somewhere I needed a change of pace. Acid Factory will provide me that change," says Aftab. The film teams Aftab with Manoj Bajpai, Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan and Danny Denzongpa. "There will be a romantic lead. But like a lot of Sanjay Gupta's films, it will be a very rugged macho kind of film with lots of action. I haven't really done something like this," says Aftab excitedly even as he has finalized the director for his first production. "I've chosen Glen, one-half of the Glen-Ankush duo who directed Jaane Kya Hoga."

Top Ten albums of the week

Rank Last week Film Plusses Minuses 1 1 Race Katrina has never looked as sensual as she has in 'Zara Zara'. A lethal combination here means that the song is hot favorite currently and igniting not just the screens but also the charts. 'Race' continues to rule from the top by a wide margin. Challenge now is to continue to be at the top. With the film still being around 50 days away, most of the strength of 'Race' has already been exposed 2 2 Taare Zameen Par Kudos to T-Series for continuing to pump money into promotion of this unconventional album that has turned out to be a very big success after the release of the film. A rare soundtrack that was struggling at the bottom of the barrel before the film's blockbuster run changed it all. None 3 3 Jab We Met This one will continue to run for many more weeks with or without competition. The more one hears this Pritam soundtrack, the more it appears to be in the mould of films like QSQT and DDLJ. None 4 7 Sunday This one is a surprise re-entry into the Top-5 of charts. Jumping up by 3 spots even as the film is showing an exit after an average run at the box office, the music has managed to keep itself sustained. This is a complete 'item' album! Even though the album is a success and music peppy, purists have taken it upon them to dismiss it at every given opportunity 5 4 Jodhaa Akbar 'Azeem O Shaan Shehanshah', the best track of the album, has turned out to be a phenomenal experience visually as well. Even 'Khwaja Mere Khwaja' has gained appreciation for itself and these two numbers should help 'Jodhaa Akbar' grow in the charts.. First weekend of the film's release hasn't quite helped the album see an escalation up into the charts. One can now only hope to see the soundtrack gain if the film succeeds. 6 6 Om Shanti Om There is no change to the positioning of 'Om Shanti Om' as it stays on at #6. One of those complete albums where there is no single track which is 'the only' number in the running, 'Om Shanti Om' would go down as the most successful album till date for Vishal and Shekhar. None 7 5 Welcome Even though 'Welcome' has seen a drop by a couple of spots, it hasn't spelt any warning message for the soundtrack since songs like 'Kiya Kiya', 'Uncha Lamba', 'Insha Allah' and 'Hoth Rasile' are still going strong. This one has turned out to be a big hit. A pucca commercial masala score which has been accepted wholeheartedly by masses in spite of a negative response earlier on 8 8 Dus Kahaniyaan At the bottom of the charts movement of albums continues to be more or less dead with barely anything in the running. However, 'Dus Kahaniyaan' continues to benefit from lack of anything new arriving on the stands. 'U Me Aur Hum' has just arrived at the stands and it's entry in the charts is a given in a week's time. That should displace an album from the bottom-3 in quick time. 9 10 Goal 'Goal' is refusing to say an exit from the charts. Though 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal' was the song of the album, it is 'Billo Rani' which has been hot favorite, whether it is marriage processions, celebrations at home, discotheques or fast driving cars. A surprise success. Wish the theme song of the album would have created a name for itself too amongst the audience! 10 9 Superstar A couple of very good songs in the album managed to bring 'Superstar' 'Superstar' into Top-10. However, with the film being a flop at the box office, there are no expectations of any escalation for the album at the stands from this point on. 'Man Tu Talbat' could well have been the anchor number of the album. However, the song hasn't been churned to it's full potential. Source: Music Festival, MGF Mall
