The under-stated publicity-shy directorial duo Abbas-Mustan have always done their bit for charitable causes, albeit quietly. It was only recently when they visited an orphanage in Gujarat for a shooting that an example of the duo's largesse came to light.
Speaking shyly of the incident, the more vocal brother, Abbas, says, "Yes, we did donate some money at the girls' orphanage in Gujarat where we had gone for the mahurat of a Gujarati children's film Adukiya Dadukiyo. You see, it's being directed by our former assistant Amar Solanki, and one of the girls from the orphanage also stars in the film. We happily went there, and had a memorable time."
Abbas was deeply moved by the spirit of the parentless children. "These girls have known no home, no parents and no family, outside the orphanage. And yet they were so happy! They even performed a really happy comic play for us and were tutored to say, 'Please see Race'. We were deeply moved to see all these cute little girls with their smiles and twinkling eyes. So yes, both Mustan and I donated Rs.1 Lakh each."
Abbas ends the topic with an embarrassed shrug. "What's there to talk about it? It's such a small matter. These children deserve a lot more." Source: Indiafm.com News | 5 Feb 2008 | 9:45 am
Have Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol buried their differences and resolved to work together again? That's one rumor you keep hearing sporadically. The grapevine is abuzz with the speculation that Santoshi and Deol have decided to let bygones be bygones and team up again in Santoshi's forthcoming film, based on the play 'Jis Lahore Nahin Dekha'.
âThere's no question of casting Sunny in this film because there's no role for him in the first place,â Santoshi tells me, âThe film requires a lot of characters and it will take me a month more to decide whom to cast in this venture. This film ought to have the right faces, else it might fall apart.â Reportedly, Saif, John and Zayed have been penciled for the roles. âIt's premature to talk about it,â he adds.
Yet another news doing the rounds is that PVR has decided to call off the deal of producing ASOKA with Santoshi. âOnly after we decide to put our respective signatures on paper can we go ahead or call off the deal, right? In this case, we're still in negotiations, we're still talking. A clearer picture should emerge in a few days from now,â he sets the record straight. Source: Indiafm.com News | 5 Feb 2008 | 6:59 am
Subhash Ghai launched KARZ and also founded Mukta Arts on 24th October, 1978. Thirty years later, on 24th October this year, the Showman will showcase his new film YUVRAAJ to the global audience. âYes, I've decided to release YUVRAAJ on this date. It's my most ambitious venture so far,â Ghai beams proudly.
Before YUVRAAJ, Ghai is bringing in a âcomparative smaller projectâ -- BLACK & WHITE. The promos of the film have created tremendous buzz already. âIt's completely different from what I've attempted so far. Generally, people look forward to larger than life characters, great music, opulent sets and non-stop entertainment from Scene A to Z in a Subhash Ghai film. BLACK & WHITE is unlike what Mukta Arts has churned out so far,â he states.
Meanwhile, Ghai has decided to move on to yet another biggie, the day YUVRAAJ releases. Reportedly, he has signed his favorite, veteran Dilip Kumar, to head the cast of the film. Also roped in are Vinod Khanna, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for pivotal roles. âI haven't signed anyone yet. In fact, I haven't locked any script so far,â he corrects me.
So how did the news originate? There has to be some truth to it. âWhile discussing story ideas with your team of writers, you tend to discuss names that would suit the roles if you were to make that film. These internal discussions keep happening from time to time, but the moment the media gets a whiff of it, it's out in the open, even though nothing is approved. The sad part is, no one bothers to clarify before doing these news-breaks. Frankly, I am in the midst of BLACK & WHITE and YUVRAAJ currently and it leaves me with very little time of think of anything else,â he clarifies. Source: Indiafm.com News | 5 Feb 2008 | 6:56 am

Gandhigiri is creating problems for Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodhaa Akbar. A Rajput organization carried out a non-violent appeal against the screening of the film.
The workers of the organization presented roses to cinema hall owners and pleaded to not screen Jodhaa Akbar claiming that Ashutosh Gowarikar has altered history. Where the film is about the love between Jodhabai and Akbar, the organization says that Jodhabai was married to Akbar's son Salim alias Jehangir. In addition to that, Jodhabai was not the daughter of Raja Bharmal of Amber as shown in the film. The princess was the daughter of Motaraja Udai Singh of Marwar.
Narendra Rajawat, head of the Rajput Sabha said that Ashutosh is hurting the Rajput sentiments by featuring wrong facts in his film.
