Preity Zinta shared her birthday on January 31 with Amrita Arora. Preity was also the surprise guest at Amrita's theme party on the night of Jan 30. The two Aquarian girls even cut a cake together.
Says Preity, "Amrita is a really sweet girl and she has been inviting me every year in order to celebrate our birthday together. This year I said I had to go. Besides it was a theme partyâ¦wigs and hats. And I love hats. I am a very hat person. So I went in one of my favourite hats. Thank God I didn't wear the big blonde wig as I was planning to. Because the whole industry was there. How would I've looked?"
The fun-loving Aquarian side to Preity remains predominant. "All us Aquarians are gregarious and hassle-free. Maybe Abhishek, Urmila, Amrita, and I can have a collective birthday party next year. We are all chatterboxes. But I'm now learning to listen more carefully." Preity remains intact although she's now, in her own words, a better listener. "I have to be. I'm in all these board meetings for my cricket deal. And there I better shut up and listen. There's so much to learn."
Preity was in fact in a series of meetings on the eve of her birthday. "But on my birthday I've just decided to chill out. I'm at home watching a DVD, relaxing sleeping. Last year was a sad birthday for me. My dog had died. This year I've lots to look forward to. And I'm happy. The only thing that irritates me is the constant reference to my age from media persons." Sometime back, we at Bollywood Hungama had done a news-break about choreographer-director Ahmed Khan turning producer and launching his first independent film. Here's an update on that frontâ¦
Ahmed's production debut, produced by his wife Shaira Khan, is titled PAATHSHALA. Starring Shahid Kapur, Nana Patekar, Ayesha Takia and Suniel Shetty in pivotal characters, the film revolves around kids and is set in a school campus.
Ahmed isn't directing the film; instead, he has entrusted the directorial reins to Milind Uke. The kids finalized for the key roles are Swini [CHEENI KUM], Ali [FANAA, TA RA RUM PUM] and Dwij [NANHE JAISALMER], besides several child actors. âPAATHSHALA is about the student-teacher relationship. It's a highly emotional subject,â Ahmed tells me, âI can confidently state that it's the most lavish children's film made in India.â
Meanwhile, Ahmed has erected a massive set of a school at Film City. In fact, the set houses class rooms, dormitories, principal's cabin, staff rooms, 6/7 huge corridors, basket ball court, garden, assembly hall, music room and canteen. Shooting of the film commenced from January 27.

Subhash Ghai's Paying Guest will be Celina's third film of the five-film deal with Mukta Arts. âI am doing the film along with Shreyas Talpade and Suniel Shetty,â says an excited Celina Jaitley.
She further adds, âMy character in the film is that of a demanding and dominating girlfriend and the story revolves around five close friends who reside together in Dubai.â Paying Guest is a comedy film written by Paritosh Painter and directed by Subhash Ghai.
The film also has Jaaved Jaffrey, Aashish Choudhary, Johnny Lever, Chunkey Pandey, Asrani, Paintal and Delnaaz Paul. One more hero and three more heroines are yet to be finalized. The thrills behind the thriller that Anurag Basu is making for Rakesh Roshan with Hrithik in the lead are getting more thrilling than the film itself. The hunt for the leading lady for Hrithik is getting more intense. Several names had been put forward. Apparently Rakesh Roshan who is very close to Anil Kapoor and very fond of Sonam wanted to cast her. But Sonam, frightfully conscious of her conservative image begged off. The role requires the girl to get seriously sexy with Hrithik.
Says Hrithik, "I'd love to work with Sonam. But not on this project. The role doesn't do justice to her. We're looking at someone from abroad, someone Latin American or Brazilian. So yeah, in that sense this would be my first international project." Director Anurag Basu says Sonam doesn't suit the role. "We've looked at many names, known and unknown in Bollywood. But that 'it' factor eludes us. I am getting quite jittery. The girl's role is extremely bold. Actually we've decided to cast someone international, preferably Brazilian, because that's the personality and profile of the leading lady in my film." According to reliable reports, the girl chosen for the part is the Channel V model Bruna Abdullah. Child of an Arabian mother and Brazilian father Bruna has been stationed in Mumbai waiting for Bollywood to happen. She performed an extremely bold item song for Anubhav Sinha's Cash recently.
Says a close friend of the Arabian-Brazilian veejay-dancer, "Bruna is extremely uninhibited before the camera. That is why she was brought into Channel V who needed a girl to rival the international looks, personality, and body language of MTV's veejay Mia. Bruna has her eyes set on Bollywood. Anubhav's item song was her stepping-stone. Anurag's film with Hrithik is her next big move." However the director denies Bruna has been penciled in for the Hrithik project. "I don't deny meeting her, like we've met so many other girls for the part. But Bruna hasn't been finalized. But it'll surely be an international face."
