The thrills behind the thriller that Anurag Basu is making for Rakesh Roshan with Hrithik in the lead are getting more thrilling than the film itself. The hunt for the leading lady for Hrithik is getting more intense. Several names had been put forward. Apparently Rakesh Roshan who is very close to Anil Kapoor and very fond of Sonam wanted to cast her. But Sonam, frightfully conscious of her conservative image begged off. The role requires the girl to get seriously sexy with Hrithik.
Says Hrithik, "I'd love to work with Sonam. But not on this project. The role doesn't do justice to her. We're looking at someone from abroad, someone Latin American or Brazilian. So yeah, in that sense this would be my first international project." Director Anurag Basu says Sonam doesn't suit the role. "We've looked at many names, known and unknown in Bollywood. But that 'it' factor eludes us. I am getting quite jittery. The girl's role is extremely bold. Actually we've decided to cast someone international, preferably Brazilian, because that's the personality and profile of the leading lady in my film." According to reliable reports, the girl chosen for the part is the Channel V model Bruna Abdullah. Child of an Arabian mother and Brazilian father Bruna has been stationed in Mumbai waiting for Bollywood to happen. She performed an extremely bold item song for Anubhav Sinha's Cash recently.
Says a close friend of the Arabian-Brazilian veejay-dancer, "Bruna is extremely uninhibited before the camera. That is why she was brought into Channel V who needed a girl to rival the international looks, personality, and body language of MTV's veejay Mia. Bruna has her eyes set on Bollywood. Anubhav's item song was her stepping-stone. Anurag's film with Hrithik is her next big move." However the director denies Bruna has been penciled in for the Hrithik project. "I don't deny meeting her, like we've met so many other girls for the part. But Bruna hasn't been finalized. But it'll surely be an international face." Adds Rakesh Roshan, "It'll be a Spanish -speaking girl. We want to show love has no barriers." Source: Indiafm.com News | 30 Jan 2008 | 12:48 pm

They say that big surprises come in small packages. The same applies to this biggest 'sur-prize' that Bollywood has ever produced, Rajpal Yadav, Bollywood's most prized possession. A lot is being written and said about Govinda persuading writer-director Neeraj Vora to change the title of his comedy Run Bhola Run to Do Lucky. But no one knows that the alternative title belonged to Govinda.
"That's right," laughs the actor on Tuesday morning, bright and early, as he prepares to leave for his shoot. "Do Lucky was a title registered with my production company Govinda Entertainment. I suggested it to Neeraj in place of Run Bhola Run and he gladly accepted it. See, Run Bhola Run sounded too much like a sequel to Bhagam Bhag. I told Neeraj he might as well call his film Bhagam Bhag 2. Just because you put two 'runs' in the title it doesn't mean the film will run," jokes Govinda.
In fact, the title for Ravi Chopra's Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai was also suggested by Govinda. "They had some problems with the other title Pappu Paas Ho Gaya. I thought Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is far more appropriate."
Govinda has also been accused of stalling the shooting while a numerologist was summoned on the sets of Neeraj Vora's film to change the title. "Why would I summon anyone else?' reasons Govinda. "I'm a very good numerologist myself. In fact, many years ago when I started my career I changed my name from Govind to Govinda and it worked." Source: Indiafm.com News | 29 Jan 2008 | 11:26 am

Aishwarya Rai is flooded with offers for films. But her priorities right now are slightly different. She wants to focus on her family duties while doing very selective work. Says a source very close to her, "Even about Pink Panther she wasn't sure, what with Mrs Teji Bachchan being so critically ill. Aishwarya didn't want any distraction from her family duties. It was Abhishek who urged her to take up the offer. Now she's ready to sign a couple of films. But she will choose very carefully. "
Producer Rohan Sippy's film directed by Sriram which is supposed to bring the never-before pair of John Abraham and Aishwarya Rai is awaiting the leading lady's approval. Though the shooting for the untitled love story has commenced with John, Aishwarya's nod is still awaited. And the only reason why she hasn't given the green signal is because the director hasn't come up with the script yet.
Says a source close to the project, "Ash has always been very close to the producer Rohan Sippy. After all she met and got to know Abhishek on the sets of Rohan's Kuch Na Kaho. Since then she and Rohan have always been close. When this project with Sriram Raghavan came up, Aishwarya's dates were a problem. Rohan flew down to Boston where she was shooting for her Pink Panther movie to convince her. Touched by Rohan's sincerity she immediately said yes. However, she made it clear that she would like to see the script."
Months have passed but no script. Sriram was busy finishing Johnny Gaddar and then sorting his projects out. Continues the source, "Though Ash has heard Sriram's idea and loves it, she has always insisted on a script from the start of her career. Remember how years ago Indra Kumar got pissed off with her because she had asked for a script before saying yes? Ash remains unchanged in her professionalism. Whether it's a completely professional arrangement with Indra Kumar or a friendly producer like Rohan Sippy, she wants the script."
Pooh poohing stories of how she was distracted and distracting on the sets of Jodhaa Akbar the source says, "If anything Ash is today even more professional than she used to be before marriage. Forget about causing distractions by bringing guests to Karjat where Ashutosh was shooting, or not giving Hrithik Roshan his cues while he was emoting, Ash wouldn't even speak to her husband on the phone while shooting." Sriram's film is crucial for Ash because after Jodhaa Akbar and Pink Panther this would be the only film she's signing.
Concludes the source, "Some people are suggesting that Aishwarya's dates for Sriram Raghavan's film are a difficulty. Not true. She has already set aside a large chunk in the first quarter of 2008 for this film. The problem is the script. She's still waiting for it."
Aishwarya who's just back from a wedding in Jaya Bachchan's family in Bhopal remains the same. "My attitude to my career remains unchanged. I remain the same. It's people around me who imagine I've become a different person. They insist on portraying me the way they perceive me to be in their minds. And never mind if they're way off the mark. One report says I'll be performing the Salsa at a soap-sponsored event. Does that look anything like me?" Source: Indiafm.com News | 29 Jan 2008 | 11:06 am
The death of the 28-year old Australian superstar Heath Ledger has had severe repercussions on the entertainment industry, particularly on Shekhar Kapoor who was apparently the last person to speak to Heath before the actor's tragically premature death.
"That's what I gather. I believe I'm the last person Heath spoke to that night before his death. And the press in New York got to know of this. The press out there started to hound me. My phone wouldn't stop ringing in New York. I had to cut short my visit and return to Mumbai," said Shekhar on Monday morning, hours after he landed up.
Remembering his short-lived association with Heath Ledger, Shekhar recalled, "Heath wasn't just the star of my film Four Feathers. He was a lot more. He was a very dear friend. We connected regularly and shared our problems. In fact, on the evening before he died we were supposed to meet. But he expressed an inability to meet and suggested we fix up another time the next morning. But in the morning he was gone! Such is life!" sighs the filmmaker just back in Mumbai and getting ready to direct his new film, this time set in Shekhar's favourite city, Mumbai.
The futuristic look at Mumbai entitled Paani will probably be the most expensive film Shekhar will produce. "It'd require a creation of a whole city with two levels, one for the super-rich and the other for the underprivileged." The cast is now being seriously looked at. Shekhar is most probably collaborating with UTV for this venture.
His other sleeper project Time Machine will now be directed by Rakeysh Mehra. The buzz is that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the young lead that was once offered to Aamir Khan. "Nothing has been confirmed yet. I'll let you know as soon as things fall into place", promises Shekhar. Source: Indiafm.com News | 29 Jan 2008 | 10:43 am
