Sunil Shetty, who has signed the star-son for Loot, thinks Mimoh dances like a dream. Mithun Chakraborty's son whose debut film Jimmy releases in February proved he had inherited his dancing skills from his father when he danced for 50 days for one song sequence in his debut film Jimmy.
The thought of refurbishing and pepping up Mimoh's debut film with a lavish item song came from the concerned father Mithun himself. When Mithun-da saw the finished product with his old friend Raj Sippy directs, he thought something else needed to be added to the product, hence the item song.
The shy newcomer describes the number 'Marhabba Yeh Rab MeraRooth Gaya', choreographed by Nadeem Khan, as the most exhilarating start any newcomer can hope for. "I don't know if I dance half as well as Anna Sir (Suniel) or my Dad thinks. But the number which we rehearsed and shot over a stretch of fifty days just made me feel so proud to be where I was and of my Dad's legacy that I'm carrying forward."
Shooting this baap of all item songs was a journey in time for Mithunda's baba. "The song was choreographed by Nadeem Khan who has done many of my father's songs and it was composed by Bappa Lahiri, Bappida's son. When I remember all the songs that Bappida and my dad teamed up to create history, I get goosebumps. In fact, my debut film's title Jimmy comes from a chartbuster composed by Bappida for dad."
Bappa and Mimoh are buddies. "And hopefully some of our dads' magic has rubbed off on both of us," says Mimoh hopefully as he waits nervously for D Day. And while Mimoh has one of Bollywood's abiding star as a guiding light at home. He gets to match strides with another dancing star in his two post-debut films. "Govindaji, whom I hero-worship along with my dad, is my co-star in my next two films Dharmesh Darshan's untitled film and Suneil Sir's Loot. And I've to dance with Govindaji in both! I guess more than my debut film I've reason to be nervous about what comes afterwards."
Incidentally, Mimoh's co-star in Dharmesh Darshan's film is Hansika Motwani who was supposed to make her debut with Mimoh two years ago. "I guess it's a small world, even if it's show-world," says Mimoh. Source: Indiafm.com News | 17 Jan 2008 | 10:38 am

Now this one would go down as one of the most shocking comebacks of not just the current year but for a much longer time period. Imagine a top actress from the past returning to celluloid after a hiatus and let aside any hype or hoopla, there is not enough the slightest hint of awareness created amongst the audience. To top it, the film even has the actress playing the central protagonist in the title role but surprisingly there is zilch buzz around the project.
Well, the film in question is Tulsi - Mathru Devo Bhava, the release day is this Friday i.e. 18th January and the actress is, hold your breath, none other than Manisha Koirala.
Yes, that's right. 3 years after she was last seen as a lead actress in Mumbai Express (2005), Manisha Koirala is returning as a leading lady in Tulsi - Mathru Devo Bhava sans any fanfare. In between she was seen as a supporting actress in films like Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story (2005), Anjaane - The Unknown (2005), Darwaza Bandh Rakho (2006) and Anwar (2007) but each of them met with a disastrous fate at the box office.
Now even as she returns with Tulsi - Mathru Devo Bhava this Friday, there are as good as minimal chances for the film to fare any better since as it is clearly suffering from poor marketing, patchy promotion and haphazard release. What a pity because the film has none other than Irrfan Khan as Manisha's on-screen husband.
Surprisingly, no one associated with the project seems to be showing any inclination towards making audience aware about the film. Neither of the two actors has spoken a word about the film so far whereas the quality of promos also lacks the kind of finesse which could attract audience towards the theaters.
Also, if one tries to read between the lines, it is quite apparent that Manisha has been totally sidelined from the film's publicity. Promos which are currently on air at a select few satellite channels have Irrfan Khan in focus with Manisha conspicuous by her absence. Ironical, since it is Manisha who is supposed to be the central protagonist of the film while playing the title role.
Many moons ago when the film's shooting was completed, Irrfan had declared, âIt is a highly emotional film, something which will hit you in your face. I like working in such movies, which have a strong script." He was also mighty impressed by Manisha and commented that he had become a big fan of hers after seeing her act. Calling her a natural actress, he also complimented her for being a fabulous human being.
However, currently it is a sad situation for producer C H Padmavathi and director K. Ajayakumar who have set Tulsi - Mathru Devo Bhava as the remake of 1993 Telugu hit Mathru Devo Bhava. Incidentally, K. Ajayakumar was the director of the original version as well. Madhavi had bagged a National Award for the role which is being played by Manisha in the remake.
The film also features yesteryear actor Vikram (Julie, Swami) who plays the character of a man who runs an 'ashram' which takes care of orphans. Says Vikram, "The film revolves around three characters - Manisha Koirala, Irrfan Khan and myself. It is a very hard-hitting subject."
Coming back to Manisha, she would be seen in yet another delayed project, God Tussi Great Ho, later this year. Hope she is more visible once this Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra starrer film gets ready for release. Source: Indiafm.com News | 16 Jan 2008 | 4:36 pm

Denying widespread reports on Monday that Abhishek had bought a house where he intended to move with his wife Aishwarya, Abhishek says, "It is not true at all." Refuting reports that Abhishek Bachchan has bought a flat in Vashu Bhangani's building pat opposite the Bachchans' residence Jalsa, the producer-turned-builder turns emotional.
"I've never come across a more devoted son than Abhishek. Not even my own son Jackie. It really hurts me to see my name dragged in as a home-breaker. I shudder to think how Iâd react if my son got married and decided to move out. Abhishek would never do that. As for buying an apartment in my buildingâ¦.arrey, he doesn't have to BUY one. All he has to say is send him the keys, and it's his. That's the kind of rapport we share."
Getting more emotional Vashu continues, "When I bought land opposite Amitji's bungalow it was a dream come true. That's why I named the building Pinnacle Dreams."
Once news was out that apartments were available opposite the Bachchans' residence, Vashu had a tough time keeping the crowds of buyers away. "All the apartments in Pinnacle Dreams were sold out eight months ago. There's no vacant apartment except one which I've kept for myself and that I'd happily give it to Abhishek anytime. But he hasn't asked me for it! In fact, many interested people including Pritish Nandy have called to inquire about place in Pinnacle Dreams. Now I'm building a high-rise apartment in front of the J W. Marriott."
Vashu intends to return to film production this year, for his son Jackie's sake. âMy son Jackie will be launched by Vivek Sharma (who's currently helming Bhootnath with the Big B for producer Ravi Chopra) in a film called Kal Kissne Dekha. The film starts shooting in June."
Bhagnani Jr's leading lady is in the process of being finalized. One of the strong contenders is Vedika who's done some South Indian films. Says the proud father, "I've been preparing the boy for six years now. He has been trained in every thing possible. But of course you can't fool the audience. If Jackie isn't good he'll be rejected." Hereâs some sad news for Indian movie lovers. Vidhu Vinod Chopraâs Eklavya -The Royal Guard, which was Indiaâs official entry to the Oscars this year, is out of the race from the âBest Foreign Language Filmsâ category.
The nine films that made it in the final list include The Counterfeiters (Austria), The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (Brazil), Mongol (Kazakhstan), The Trap (Serbia), Days of Darkness (Canada), Beaufort (Israel), The Unknown Woman (Italy) , Katyn (Poland) and 12 (Russia).
For starters, the Amitabh Bachchan-Sanjay Dutt starrer Eklavya was mired in controversy ever since it was declared as Indiaâs entry to the prestigious Oscars. So, much so that director Bhavna Talwar, who considered her film Dharm as one of the better contenders for the award, went on to claim that the jury was biased in its selection. She even went up to the extent of going to the court regarding the issue.
Seems like India will have to wait for a while to bring home this prestigious award. Source: Indiafm.com News | 16 Jan 2008 | 1:34 pm
