"Abhishek will never leave his parents" - Vashu Bhagnani

Denying widespread reports on Monday that Abhishek had bought a house where he intended to move with his wife Aishwarya, Abhishek says, "It is not true at all." Refuting reports that Abhishek Bachchan has bought a flat in Vashu Bhangani's building pat opposite the Bachchans' residence Jalsa, the producer-turned-builder turns emotional. "I've never come across a more devoted son than Abhishek. Not even my own son Jackie. It really hurts me to see my name dragged in as a home-breaker. I shudder to think how I’d react if my son got married and decided to move out. Abhishek would never do that. As for buying an apartment in my building….arrey, he doesn't have to BUY one. All he has to say is send him the keys, and it's his. That's the kind of rapport we share." Getting more emotional Vashu continues, "When I bought land opposite Amitji's bungalow it was a dream come true. That's why I named the building Pinnacle Dreams." Once news was out that apartments were available opposite the Bachchans' residence, Vashu had a tough time keeping the crowds of buyers away. "All the apartments in Pinnacle Dreams were sold out eight months ago. There's no vacant apartment except one which I've kept for myself and that I'd happily give it to Abhishek anytime. But he hasn't asked me for it! In fact, many interested people including Pritish Nandy have called to inquire about place in Pinnacle Dreams. Now I'm building a high-rise apartment in front of the J W. Marriott." Vashu intends to return to film production this year, for his son Jackie's sake. “My son Jackie will be launched by Vivek Sharma (who's currently helming Bhootnath with the Big B for producer Ravi Chopra) in a film called Kal Kissne Dekha. The film starts shooting in June." Bhagnani Jr's leading lady is in the process of being finalized. One of the strong contenders is Vedika who's done some South Indian films. Says the proud father, "I've been preparing the boy for six years now. He has been trained in every thing possible. But of course you can't fool the audience. If Jackie isn't good he'll be rejected."

Eklavya out of the Oscars race

Here’s some sad news for Indian movie lovers. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya -The Royal Guard, which was India’s official entry to the Oscars this year, is out of the race from the ‘Best Foreign Language Films’ category. The nine films that made it in the final list include The Counterfeiters (Austria), The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (Brazil), Mongol (Kazakhstan), The Trap (Serbia), Days of Darkness (Canada), Beaufort (Israel), The Unknown Woman (Italy) , Katyn (Poland) and 12 (Russia). For starters, the Amitabh Bachchan-Sanjay Dutt starrer Eklavya was mired in controversy ever since it was declared as India’s entry to the prestigious Oscars. So, much so that director Bhavna Talwar, who considered her film Dharm as one of the better contenders for the award, went on to claim that the jury was biased in its selection. She even went up to the extent of going to the court regarding the issue. Seems like India will have to wait for a while to bring home this prestigious award.

Director all for dubbed Hindi version of Anuranan

Director Anniruddha-Roy Choudhary is looking forward to the release of the Hindi version of his Bengali film Anuranan this Friday. "Although, Anuranan is a culture-specific film, its theme is universal. And why should anyone have any objection to a Bengali film getting a national market? I think the only other Bengali film to have made this transition is Rituparno Ghosh's Chokher Bali." But wasn't the Bengali version released a year back? Even the DVD is out. "Yes it was," admits the director. "But the theatrical and DVD releases were only in Bengali. The dubbing into Hindi was done with my active participation. In fact, linguistically I'd say the Hindi version is more authentic than the Bengali. In Bengali, Rajat Kapoor's voice was dubbed by another artiste. In Hindi all the four major artistes—Rahul, Raima, Rituparno Ghosh and Rajat-- have themselves dubbed all their lines. So I'd say I welcome this chance to take my film to a larger audience."

"15th February is final"

Download Jodhaa Akbar wallpapers A number of stories concerning JODHAA AKBAR are doing the rounds of the industry. The topic of discussion is that the film won't make it on the scheduled date since the post-production isn't complete yet [it's currently in the mixing stages] and Ashutosh Gowariker is in no mood to hurry things up. Translated into simple terms, it means the historical might not make it on 15th February, the final date locked by Gowariker and UTV. Another story [rumour] doing the rounds is that the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions are likely to be delayed as well, since the makers would be keen to get the Hindi version in place first. Which means, the South version would be pushed ahead by a couple of weeks. “Absolutely false,” Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV sets the record straight, “The Hindi version as well as the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions will have the same day and date release. There's no question of a postponement now. I hope people stop speculating.” But what everyone's curious to know is the final length of this colossal historical. There're murmurs that the film will be of 3 + hour duration. Await the official announcement from Gowariker on that one!
