Third-seeded Andy Murray defeated Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 Saturday in the final of the Qatar Open for his fourth ATP title.
Murray played his first tournament since splitting with American coach Brad Gilbert. It was also his first victory against the unseeded Swiss.
"I had never won a tournament in the first week of the season," Murray said. "It is great going into the Australian Open."
Murray lost in the final last year to Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic.
